ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow is my fav show, so it's great to see her added. I love love love Wayward Pines, even though it's a limited series and will end tomorrow. HOWEVER, those making decisions for SH need to remember the show's core strength: Ichabbie. I don't say that as a shipper, either. If they get together eventually? I'm so with that. But whether you ship them, love them as kick-ass partners, or just hang on the 'will they, won't they' Ichabbie has always been the heart of this show. If all of this revamping doesn't interfere with Abbie's screen time, I say I'm all for it...except the Betsy Ross thing. That started as a JOKE and should've remained a joke. Why the hell is the show desecrating the history of freaking the actual person to make her a "sexy" anything on this show? Enough with the female additions. Are they trying to create a harem for Ichabod w/ four lead women and one guy? You're doin' too much, Sleepy Hollow. Too much.

ReplyDeleteI didn't love Hawley but I didn't think he sucked either. They're making the same mistake they made in S2. Under-utilizing a great cast.
ReplyDeleteAgree. I think the problem with Hawley is he detracted from Jenny's screen time. Like giving him things to do that Jenny could have done without Hawley. I'm sure he was intended as a love interest, but it didn't translate like that. I thought the actor was pretty good at playing the drifter playboy type that didn't care about much more than his money or getting girls. They never really tried to push him to the front of the show like Katrina, which I appreciated. But he was definitely not a fan favorite...This news is bittersweet because I like Shannyn, but WTF are they thinking with getting rid of all the men and keeping only Ichabod? Seriously bizarre decisions from the SH peeps.

ReplyDeleteYes but she was in S2 also. She was just underutilized and that pisses me off. The Abbie/Jenny/Ichabod "family" is the best thing about this show.

ReplyDeleteI don't really understand why some people are upset about this casting. It's not as if she is being shoehorned into the Team like Hawley or Katrina were. She's part of the new mythology which already sounds more interesting than anything than happened during the latter half of Season 2.

ReplyDeleteI considered watching it, cause of her mainly, and cause I heard a lot of good stuff about the first 5 WP eps. But somehow I meh about the show, not even sure what it is about, besides the creepy town of WP.
ReplyDeleteI want her in a show I'm passionate about so I can fully enjoy her, but I'll probably watch WP during another hiatus (winter or summer). Cureently too consumed with N/P and my other shows.
People always say various nonsense without watching the show. They can't even know how many episodes she will be in, so...
ReplyDeleteIt's a mystery sci-fi thriller. And it definitely has more story than the "creepy town" MUCH more. The "creepy town" is only a sliver of the real story. Idk why you're so "meh" about it. I figured you would've at least checked out the pilot by now.

ReplyDeleteI'm just glad SS is doing some work and with SH being limited in their episode number maybe she squeezes in another show this season.
I'm not upset with casting but given S2, I am not optimistic that these writers know how to handle a large ensemble without someone (Jenny) being underutilized. I like Shannyn very much. Much more than I trust the writers of SH.

ReplyDeleteOkayyy. I guess. Well you should check out the pilot when you can. Usually with TV shows, if the commercials don't pique your interest a little, chances are the pilot will. And just a head's up the pilot was really good. And Shannyn is really good in it. You really feel for her character. She was definitely praised by fans last week over something her character did. It was a cheering moment.
ReplyDeleteAnd Shannyn's been having steady work for awhile now. Not just tv but in film. SH will have 18 episodes this season, just like last season, there's no telling how many episodes she'll be in. But for this Sleepyhead fan, Pandora's Box sounds really exciting. I've always loved a Pandora's Box SL with my shows.
I actually really liked Hawley, especially his scenes with Abbie and Ichabod. They screwed up his story when they suddenly decided to introduce his complicated past with Jenny. I don't know why people didn't like him. I know some people objected because they thought he was coming between Abbie and Ichabod, but I don't know why others objected. I thought he was one of the better additions last season.

ReplyDeleteI believe it comes with the territory. Looking at other shows with a big cast, there are usually always a few characters who are being sidelined, e.g. Alex from Grey's Anatomy , Ward from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or Alex from Modern Family.
I'll give them the benifit of the doubt; Season 3 can't be much worse than Season 2.
This doesn't mean she'll be a bad carachter like Katrina, you should just wait and see..
