Scene Of The Week - July 19, 2015 - POLL

19 Jul 2015

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

DARK MATTER, "Episode Six", July 17, 2015, Actors: Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, The Scene: Six convinces Five to come back with him
Justyna K:
I really enjoyed this episode and finding out the truth about some of the main characters, especially from such a unique perspective thanks to Five’s surprising gift. But the most memorable moment of the hour for me has to be Six convincing Five to wake up and come back with him. It was such an honest, quiet scene, with Five just wanting to stay in the peaceful memory of One’s childhood, away from their daily struggle and Six making her realize why she couldn’t… It was a sad realization but a lovely moment for the two characters and it really strengthen the trust and the bond between them. Their friendship has been one of the highlights of the show from the beginning so it’s always good to see more of their interactions. Also, another episode, another heroic action from Six. It makes the realization about his past this week, all the more powerful. Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. Kudos!

HANNIBAL, "Digestivo", July 18, 2015, Actors: Katharine Isabelle, Joe Anderson
The Scene: Margot kills Mason by drowning him in his electric eel tank (picked by Darth Locke)

MR. ROBOT, "eps1.3_da3m0ns.mp4", July 15, 2015, Actor: Rami Malek
The Scene: Elliot's drug trip (picked by Bradley Adams)

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "No Stone Unturned", July 14, 2015, Actors: Ashley Benson and more
The Scene: Hanna steals Lesli's car
Jamie Coudeville:
I loved this scene. There's no way that she's never done that before, that went way too easy.

RAY DONOVAN, "The Kalamazoo", July 12, 2015, Actors: Jon Voight, Chris Browning
The Scene: Mickey kills Gary
Darth Locke:
Mickey kills Gary by giving drugs in his food, which leads to him drowning in the apartment pool.

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "Misconduct Game", July 14, 2015, Actors: Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander and more, The Scene: Goodbye to Susie in the bar at the end
Donna Chidley:
They say goodbye to Susie in the bar at the end (she was killed in this episode). They pick something out off her iPod that she frequently played. You would think classic etc. It's heavy rock. The scene at the end fades out with her picture in background they are all jumping around. One minute you are fighting back the tears of sadness the next your crying with laughter. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

TEEN WOLF, "Condition Terminal", July 13, 2015, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Holland Roden and more, The Scenes: Scott and Stiles find Lydia and Tracy & Scott contemplates dropping AP biology
Justyna K:
Another good episode this week, though certainly not enough Stiles. About the scene itself, after the rather unexpected beginning with Parrish we get to the part where everyone arrives at police station and finds wounded Lydia. These slow-motion, mostly without sound and “out of sync” moments don’t always work, but this one did for me. It might be because of the actors who once again do their best to portray their characters’ emotional distress. What stands out the most in the scene for me has to be Stiles’ complete shock and his quiet exchange with Lydia. It almost feels like we’re seeing the moment from Stiles’ perspective for a little while. Like one of his panic attacks, except the thing he’s afraid of, his friends getting hurt, is really happening. Lydia was very strong in the moment, she was fighting the pain and encouraging Stiles and others to leave her side and go look for Tracy. Her character has gone through such a powerful and impressive change from season one that it’s hard to believe it. To sum up, quiet, emotional, intense moment, beautifully acted by the actors and directed by the crew. Kudos! Now, waiting for the next episode, especially after the final minute!
Jamie Coudeville: This scene really hit home for me. Scott has been trying so hard to keep his grades up, which is of course not easy considering everything that's going on. He needs this class, if he was to become a vet. I know what it's like to feel like you're not smart enough for something. I hope Scott pushes through and proves the teacher wrong. He is smart enough, supernatural occurances just keep getting in the way.

THE STRAIN, "BK, NY", July 12, 2015, Actors: Robert Maillet and more
The Scene: The Master converts Sardu to be his vessel
Geo N:
When The Master chooses and converts Sardu to be the vessel for his new body and soul. The process was intense and horrific to watch.

TRUE DETECTIVE, "Down Will Come", July 12, 2015, Actors: Colin Farrell and more
The Scene: Final Shootout (picked by DarkUFO and Darth Locke)

WAYWARD PINES, "A Reckoning", July 16, 2015, Actors: Reed Diamond, Carla Gugino and more, The Scene: Harold dies
Nirat Anop:
Harold and Kate have been on this struggle for the truth and to see his life taken by the hands of a child, a child meant to be the beacon of hope in this small, isolated town is devastating. Especially as Harold mouthed ‘I Love You’ to Kate before he is brutally shot. The aftershock of the gunshot and it’s affect on the music(the lack of it), the blood splattered on Kate’s face and the camera work really created such a painfully memorable scene. The sheer devastation in Kate’s face is horrific. One of the 'Futures of Wayward Pines’ assassinating unarmed and defenseless men is really tragic and speaks volumes to how easily manipulated some people can be. Nimrod Antal, the director of the episode really nailed the scene.

Also a shoutout to the brilliant episode of Killjoys this week, my favorite so far. So many great scenes I couldn't decide which one to pick.

  2. I would say that Ted Jr.'s monologue (Rectify) from the car was scene of the week. We didn't see anything, but it felt even more disturbing than having actually seen it. Clayne Crawford in one fine actor.

  6. Rectify: Usually Aden Young steals the show but this week Clayne Crawford's Teddy had his moment to shine. The stand out scene is when he takes his younger brother Jared out for a late night drive and then tells the story of 'Sweet Julie'. Its horrifying and unnerving and coupled with Tawney discussing his behavior to her therapist earlier in the episode it makes Teddy quite a scary character and yet so deeply human and so deeply flawed.

True Detective: Final shootout was pretty cool, even if the season has been uneven that was a good setpiece

Bojack Horseman: The first episode of season 2, Bojack's mother tells him he will always be broken. The show on its surface is just another animated comedy show for adults but really its a great and often painful look at depression and that scene really hit home.

  8. Actually any scene from Hannibal could be picked as the entire episode was awesome, but I really liked the (supposed) farewell between Will and Hannibal and Hannibal surrendering to Jack.

  9. The Teen Wolf and Dark Matter scenes mentioned.

Girl Meets World: Mr. Turner is revealed to be the superintendent of the school.

Dominion: The fight in New Delphi against the higher angels; Michael talks to Laurel at end and says Alex is like a son to him.

  10. Wayward Pines- Harold gets Murdered. Let's call it what is was. "Dies" sounds so innocent, and his death was anything but. His death was BRUTAL!!! Ugh!!! I literally cried when that happened!!! The "No music" in the background really hit me and I felt soooo bad for Kate!!! His "I love you" broke my heart. I really liked Harold from beginning.

Also another Wayward Pines moment - Ethan and Kate tell the town the truth and Pilcher turns off the power leaving all the Abbies to come to town. That was intense and SO MESSED UP!! I hope the Abbies go STRAIGHT for Pilcher!!!

  11. I'm beginning to worry what kind of person Jared will become being a product of these two seemingly normal families.

The actor, who plays him, slighly reminds me of Isaac (Daniem Sharman) from Teen Wolf. Must be the hair.

  14. I picked the scenes with Mr. Robot and Wayward Pines.

    Other great scenes:
Un-Real: The whole episode was awesome: I can't really choose a scene.

Killjoys: I loved this episode. One of my favorites. D'avin being forced to reveal his deepest secret, Dutch risking her life to save him and then using the nanites to her advantage.

Mistresses: I enjoyed most of this episode, but most of all, I loved the scene where Calista gets back at her husband, followed by the the talk between April and Mark where she tells him about her mother

  15. Yeah its pretty messed up for Jared, I mean how do you deal with all of that? Hopefully he will move away as soon as he goes to college.
