  1. Oh SyFy, you just can't catch a break can you.

from bad to worst for syfy. It's time to get rid of the all these bad shows and do something good preferably with some decent budget. These days (from 2014 and later) it seems that anyone who had a bad idea went to syfy and got his own series.

  3. Interesting increase for Complications as its a series high. I have to hand it to Matt Nix, just like Burn Notice his shows start slow but they grow. Very few can do that historically. Not great at all for Graceland.

  4. Damn I was hoping Dominion would premiere higher, these aren't good numbers for them.

  5. Speak for yourself, Syfy has a really good slate right now IMO - better than it was around 2012/2013 for sure - and from the looks of the shows forthcoming over the next year it looks like it will get even better, they have some awesome-looking miniseries coming up and The Magicians looks effing fantastic.

  6. I just hope for Syfy's sake they have decent DVR numbers.

  7. Viewers can tell if a show is low budget and low quality and Syfy seems to have become the home of these series. In my opinion, after watching an episode of Dominion, Dark Matter, and Killjoys, I can see why the ratings are struggling. The production and acting is not there to sustain the concept. The best show Syfy is airing right now is Defiance and that's why it's the highest rated of the four. It's their cornerstone and Syfy has to tear down and start there to rebuild their slate.

  8. I think their Friday shows do, I know Dark Matter does, dunno about the rest.

  9. That's interesting, out of the SyFy shows I watch, Defiance is my least favourite and it's a struggle to watch sometimes with the CGI it has.

  10. I hope for Dominion's sake they have good DVR numbers..

  11. I agree, I've enjoyed everything they've put out other than Z Nation and season 2 of Helix. Oh and Olympus, nearly forgot that one.

  12. I can't make a final judgement until I see the finished product, but I didn't have nearly the optimistic reaction. If I had to bet on one show blindly, it would be Hunters but none of them really stand out as the show which can turn around Syfy.

I'm speaking for myself but unfortunately for you the ratings indicate that they are many others like me!

  14. Defiance is an acquired taste and as with every series not to everyone's liking, but at least there I can see a road map of where it's going, what it should be, and how it can actually achieve that. It's what so many of Syfy's shows seem to lack when I watch them.

  15. They seem to be putting all their eggs into The Expanse basket, I think that's a mistake. I mean I'm sure it will rate high enough in it's first season to earn a renewal anyway, but I can't see it rating much better than their other shows in their first seasons.

  16. I didn't like season 2 at all but I really enjoyed season one and I've been enjoying this season too, I think that 0.4 last week was a fluke though, it really surprised me, I'll be even more surprised if it wasn't.

Right now not even The Expanse or Childhood's end (both based on very well known books) could make more than 1.3-1.4 mil viewers and if they will reach a 0.4 it will be very good.

  18. I'm not sure how the numbers work, but Dominion is premiering on the 12th in Canada, on Showcase (weird, since Space is our SyFy and we usually get their shows there). Will the numbers here or in general be adjusted to reflect that, or is it purely for those who watched live/will watch online through SyFy specifically?

  19. I'm so glad Rectify has been renewed already, tiny tiny ratings.

  20. Nooo! I was hoping for at least a .4 for Dominion. I am not surprised losing its buddy Defiance and moving to 10pm hurt it. Grrr.

Dominion was even better than last season. I wish people would give Syfy more of a chance. Yes CGI isn't the best, but the writing is great for some of these shows.

  21. They already tried to rebuild their slate with Killjoys, 12 Monkeys, etc. I'm not sure they can afford great quality like other channels so your idea wouldn't help.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They paired up Dominion with wrestling instead of keeping it with Defiance, where it was doing well. I don't know what SyFy was thinking.

  23. Rookie Blue (USA - Episode 3) - Final Rating: Demo 0.7 and Total 4.24

  24. Some of the best shows get bad ratings, whether just fan opinion or actually critically acclaimed. So just because the ratings for the Syfy shows is bad doesn't mean they're all bad. There are plenty of "awful" shows that get good ratings. I think it is a reflection of poor decisions made by Syfy that led them to this slump in so many shows. Scheduling, promotion, timing for airing premieres, etc.

Being Human was by no means amazing, nor Warehouse 13, for all my love for them (the CGI wasn't great then either), but they both got better ratings than pretty much every show on now.

  25. Glad for TAWC and Mistresses to do solid. I hope they can raise a bit more and get renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  26. How the hell was rectify renewed?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dominion needed a better lead in than WWWhatever Smackdown. That demographic is hardly going to stay for SyFy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dominion, Killjoys, and Defiance (even though difficult to follow sometimes) are much better than the crazy low budget films they make.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Except they are all bad shows. Syfy screwed up when they changed from Sci-Fi to Syfy and barely had any actually sci-fi shows on anymore. Viewers left and won't come back. Doesn't matter how good a show is.

  30. Defiance is the best for me. Glad it's had 3 seasons so far. This season is the best sof ar.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agreed. Love the firday night shows and 12 monkeys

    ReplyDelete
  32. actually know. 12 monkies for example, egts tons of critical claim but it's ratings all low. so many amazing shows get low ratings because people prefer watching crap like cop shows.
