  1. Happy for Dark Matter :) Shame Killjoys can't rise and that Defiance fell back to 0.2. Not that bothered about Defiance though.

  2. The Scyfy shows are all very stable and close:
    - Dark Matter: 0.25
    - Killjoys: 0.24
    - Defiance: 0.23

    ReplyDelete
  3. There is 0.02 separating the three shows though. Are these shows good? I don't watch any shows from Syfy currently a bit out of prejudice but I've heard a lot of people talk about this block.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I am still hoping for 3 Syfy renewals. But i hope at least 2 of them can survive.

I am really surprised Dark Matter is getting highest rating

    ReplyDelete
  5. I am actually enjoying like never before. I really love Season 3 and last episode was amazing

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yh I saw the double digit ratings as well, Killjoys is so close to that 0.3, I hope it gets it, and I hope Dark Matter doesn't fall back to regular 0.2s.

As for the shows I'm loving Dark Matter and Killjoys. I was expecting Dark Matter to be good but it was even better :) I probably wouldn't be watching Defiance if it wasn't part of the line up but this season has been my favourite so far.

  7. Killjoys's ratings are really depressing me :(
Do you think SYFY will renew it?

    ReplyDelete
  8. It isn't really up to to SyFy it's more up to Space, but yes, I think all 3 will be renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm definitely enjoying this season the most but I still can't take the show seriously. I just watch it because it's there tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Surprised Defiance is the lowest of the pack, on the past weeks it was on top

    ReplyDelete
  11. I feel 100% confident in saying we are well within the statistician margin of error to declare one show to be the lowest or the highest of all three. They are effectively tied.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm worried about Defiance because shows get more expensive each season and Defiances ratings seem to drop every season :/'but I hope it at least gets a final season. Helix didn't get one... :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. If you had to select one Syfy show to get me back into the channel between these 3, Dominion and 12 Monkeys which one would you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  14. 12 Monkeys.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hmmm, I'd say Dark Matter or 12 Monkeys. Dark Matter has a slight BSG feel to it so you might prefer that one.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 12 monkeys definitely..but that's just me..

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. 12 Monkeys (IT started slowly but became my favorite through the season) - It would be amazing show to binge
    2. Defiance
    3. Dark Matter
    4. Killjoys
    ---
    5. Dominion (I am thinking about dropping it)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank you! I hope so! Do you know when they will announce It's renewal? Killjoys is the first Syfy show that I'm watching so I don't know anything about Syfy's schedule!

    ReplyDelete
  19. It could be announced at any time :P

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do you watch any other SyFy shows? My order would be:

    1. Dark Matter
    2. Killjoys/12 Monkeys
    4. Dominion
    5. Defiance

I tried Z Nation and Olympus but didn't even get through their pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks. 12 Monkeys was the one I was considering.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for the input!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks! I was leaning 12 Monkeys but you got me there with that comparison. I might just give both of them a shot especially since they are both on their first seasons so I am more willing to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks for the input!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think you should try both as well, both are very good but very different :) I hope I haven't gotten your hopes too high with the BSG comparison though!

    ReplyDelete
  26. They invested so much in Defiance I have no idea what they'll do... Either cancel it or try to wrap it up soon I guess it depends on how the Syfy execs are feeling maybe, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I dropped Olympus after 3 episodes. THE WORST show i ave ever watched, i have no idea how i managed to get thought 3 episodes.

Z Nation on the other hand is great. Pilot was probably the worst episode and it got much better. In every episode something happened, lot of action, different ways of killing zombies, humor ... it is obviously not one of the best shows or anything, but it is great that 2 shows so similar on paper (TWD-Z Nation) can be SO MUCH different

    ReplyDelete
  28. I had such high hopes for Olympus, it was so disappointing. I'm surprised SyFy haven't made a renew/cancel decision yet.

So many people keep praising Z Nation I've been tempted to give it another go a few times now. I think I'll have to add it to my watchlist at this point. I don't watch TWD anymore so I'm short a zombie show!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dominion is my favorite and it gets a bad rap I think is undeserved. Season 1 was slow at points, but Season 2 is amazing. But it's an acquired taste, I'd say, since it's the angel mythology that hooked me - partly because I got into angel stuff after Supernatural.

12 Monkeys is a great choice. My second favorite on Syfy and wonderfully complicated in thinking.

Both these shows need to live imo. A new viewer for either of them is a win in my book.

Dark Matter and Killjoys are fun to watch on Fridays, but I am not seriously into them. My popcorn TV.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Now that I see all these good comments I think I'll start watching 12 Monkeys too ^^

I only watch Dark Matter on Syfy and it's pretty good imo

    ReplyDelete
  31. There is always iZombie :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lol, as much as I wanted too I didn't like that one either.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 12 Monkeys had been on my radar for a while already but since I am resistant to watching Syfy shows I hadn't given it a shot yet, but I have been on a better mood to try it out lately. I will consider these two.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for the detailed input. Popcorn TV isn't bad per se. Grimm is my best definition of that and I love it for what it is in that role. But yeah I understand the separation you are making. To be honest, Dominion was the one with a premise that had me more intrigued - not necessarily more my cup of tea, but more intrigued - ever since it premiered, but I never actually bothered with it because it always felt like the show was about to be canceled and because of bias to its network. I'll probably start with 12 Monkeys and if that one works for me, I'll give others a shot too

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nah, no worries, I understand the whole "similar elements" thing is not a synonym of same show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. No, popcorn TV isn't bad. I know Grimm is considered popcorn TV by most, but not to me. I'm really into it - or at least was in the first 2 seasons before I started disliking some storylines.

To me it's not about critical reviews or what others think. If you love it and can draw something solid from it I think it's good quality (for me it's often the relationships between characters on the show).

    ReplyDelete
  37. I wasn't reducing Grimm's value by saying it is popcorn TV. I usually binge it to be honest. This weekend I watched the last 11 episodes or so of Season 4 actually, which is probably why I had it so fresh in my mind and brought it to the conversation. Speaking of which, it was actually my favorite season to date, although I see you disagree ;)

On to your main point though, I entirely agree. It really isn't about what others think or critics say (hey I dislike Breaking Bad and I like Under the Dome) even though those things are usually good indicator for me to try out a show - there are just way too many shows these days so you need something, anything to know if a show is good or not, it is impossible to try them all, especially because more and more often shows take a while to hit their stride so the pilot enough is not an indication. So I use other people's opinions as a starting point but obviously it deviates a lot from it afterwards ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I find Dark Matter quiete entertaining. Great visuals, fun story. Spaceship! :) 12 Monkeys is also great, but it lost me somehow with it's complexity. :/ I'll give it another shot before s02 begins. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks for the input!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know you weren't reducing Grimm by saying it is popcorn TV. After all, I wasn't doing that to Dark Matter and Killjoys. The definition of popcorn TV in my book is liking a show, but not being quite as invested in it as fans would. Watching it to have fun/not worrying about the characters' paths so much.

I just use my personal taste when picking out shows. I have many shows I love that are rated badly, and I can't imagine not having watched because of others opinions. I would have missed out on a lot of interesting, funny, and exciting stuff.

I know I like science fiction, fantasy, etc. types, so I try out shows like that first, though I sometimes also watch an occasional crime show or drama. I also know I'm not big on major violence or very bloody horror, so I avoid shows like that to narrow things down.

I do sometimes check out shows people keep talking about, like how I got into The Walking Dead (which has more gore than my normal taste but I stuck with for the characters), but I don't try out all popular shows - only the ones in my interest area. For example, you will not catch me watching Outlander by my own choice even if I had the channel. It just doesn't interest me. Same for Game of Thrones (for the fact they keep killing beloved characters mostly/apparently).

  41. 12 Monkeys is amazing IMO. I hope you enjoy it

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, I definitely agree with you. But for me, it ends up being a mix. If I am interested in a show, I will try it out no matter what people say. If I am not or if the show flies under my radar (it happens with cable shows) I will tend to use other people's opinions as a starting point, but nothing for sure. But it interesting me surely has priority.

  43. Really hoping Killjoys' ratings go up!

    ReplyDelete
  44. 1. 12 Monkeys (Best show currently airing on Syfy)
    ...
    2. Dark Matter
    3. Dominion
    4. Defiance
    5. Killjoys

    ReplyDelete
  45. Funny these are pretty much in alphabetical order.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Season 3 is the best one.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes. Defiance is great, this season is the best one. Dark Matter is really good too. Killyjoys is good but it's the weakest of the 3.
