Agent Carter - SpoilerTV Comic-Con Interviews w/ Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy & Executive Producers

“Agent Carter” is gearing up for season two, where some changes are in store. We talked to three of the show’s executive producers for details. And we got a chance to interview stars Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) and James D’Arcy (Jarvis) on camera. Our video of them is posted below – and boy, were they charming. The two of them have incredible chemistry together. They joke around and play off each other constantly.

But before you watch the video, here’s what we learned from the executive producing team of Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas and Chris Dingess.

First of all, the show is moving to Los Angeles for season two as Peggy is called to investigate a murder. Butters teases, “The investigation ends up being a much bigger, more Marvel-y kind of subject matter.”

Jarvis is heading west as well. Fazekas says defense contractors were prevalent in Los Angeles in the 1940s. So the writers decided to move Howard Stark out to California for government contract work. And while he’s there, Stark starts a movie studio. All of this will keep Jarvis busy.

The new location will give some of the characters fresh outlooks. “When you talk about Hollywood, it’s a place where people move to sort of reinvent themselves, and we touch on that,” Dingess reveals.

With the Los Angeles shift, the feel of the series will also change. Butters tells us, “One of the things that we’re really excited about is that you get to show the Hollywood glamour and the 1940s movie scene and the kind of underlying tones of a film noir.”

Also of note: Anna Jarvis will no longer be a mysterious voice. Her character finally makes an appearance on screen. Characters like hers will introduce new relationships for the show. But on the other side of the spectrum, Dingess tells us, “Existing relationships that Peggy has with different characters will become more complicated.”

Of course, the relationship between Peggy and Jarvis remains the central relationship of the series. That is due in large part to the chemistry between the actors. Dingess says, “As we were writing season one and we got them together, by episode three we really had a very strong sense of their chemistry. Everyone wanted to milk that chemistry for all it was worth.”

Butters adds, “They’re so incredibly charming together. And I love seeing a man and a woman [on TV] having great chemistry without it being necessarily sexual. I think it’s just such a nice relationship you don’t always see on television.”

You can check out Hayley Atwell and James D’Arcy’s great chemistry below. Please excuse the jolty camera at the beginning. It was briefly knocked down during the interview.
