  • 22:10 - Marvel Announces 3 Comics As Part Of Relaunch
    Marvel Announces New Spider-Gwen Comic
Get excited, web-heads: we’ve got two announcements for Marvel Comics’ Spider-Gwen.

First, as hinted by a recent teaser image, she will be getting a series relaunch with a brand new Spider-Gwen #1 by the same creative team, writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez. Her comic will be one of ~60 new Marvel comics released as part of a line-wide relaunch after Secret Wars. While Secret Wars and Spider-Verse will be acknowledged in the relaunched comic, the series will largely pick back up where it left off, exploring the alternate universe of Earth-65 where Peter Parker died and Gwen Stacy became Spider-Woman.

Marvel Announces New Spider-Man Comic Featuring Miles Morales
Comic book geeks’ spider senses are tingling.

After battling evil-doers in an alternate comic book line, a popular biracial version of Spider-Man is getting a promotion to the official Marvel Comics universe.

The first issue of the relaunched “Spider-Man” hits comic stores, tablets and smartphones this fall with more fanfare than a typical new series, because the hero under the mask is Miles Morales, the teen son of an African-American father and Puerto Rican mother.

Marvel Announces New Doctor Strange Comic
The Marvel Universe will get a little bit more magical and a little weirder this fall—and not in the shield or hammer way. In tandem with All-New All-Different Marvel, as many as 60 new #1 titles will be released, and among them is the return of the Sorcerer Supreme himself: Doctor Strange.

The brand new series, written by Jason Aaron (Thor, Weirdworld) with art by Chris Bachalo (Uncanny X-Men, Incredible Hulk), will not only serve as a reinvention of the classic character but will also explore him in a deeper way than ever before. “This is a Doctor Strange who is going to get hurt real bad, real quick. And who is also going to make you feel things,” Marvel editor Nick Lowe explained to EW. “And not just think things, but feel things… hopefully a little bit of both.”

Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti have inked a first-look deal between their Trigger Street shingle, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios — and the first project they're developing is a doozy.

The Resident, which reads like a cross between Downton Abbey and House of Cards, follows the relationships between White House residence staffers and the various First Families that come into the famous address over the course of several administrations. And, in her first scripted effort, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is on board as a co-executive producer.

  • 14:00 - Netflix Crosses 1 Million Subscribers In Australia
Netflix launched in Australia on March 24, although some estimates say over 200,000 of us may have previously signed up to the service, using geo-blocks to stream US or UK content. Officially, in April, 766,000 Australians in 296,000 homes were subscribed. By May, this had grown to 1,039,000 in 408,000 households.

The $40billion US giant has clearly taken an early—and perhaps insurmountable—lead in the new world of on-demand subscription television in Australia, securing over ten times more subscriptions than its nearest (and locally owned) competitors.

By May, just 97,000 Australians were subscribed to Presto, from Foxtel and Seven West Media; 91,000 had Stan, which Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media launched in January; 43,000 had Quicklix, the long-established ASX-listed former DVD-delivery service (just like Netflix once was); and 40,000 had Foxtel Play, the streaming version of its Pay TV.

  • 08:10 - American Crime - Season 2 - Elvis Nolasco & Richard Cabral Returning
EXCLUSIVE: ABC’s second season of American Crime is raising its returning cast members from season one to five. Tonight it was announced at Deadline’s Emmy screening for the series that regulars Richard Cabral and Elvis Nolasco will be joining Timothy Hutton, Regina King and Felicity Huffman who were previously announced. Those actors returning for Season 2 of American Crime will play new characters in a new setting.

American Crime executive producer John Ridley told Deadline, “After playing individuals on the fringes of the law, season two will offer complete role reversals for both Elvis and Richard. Elvis playing a fundamentally good man scapegoated by the system in which he works. Richard as someone who takes it upon himself to stand for the rights of others, even if it means he stands alone. Elvis and Richard both gave revelatory performances last year, and we are so happy to have them rejoining Felicity, Tim and Regina.”

While the first season followed the aftermath of a murder in Modesto, California, Season 2 will film in Austin Texas, with production likely to begin in July. Michael J. McDonald also executive producers American Crime for ABC Studios. Ridley, McDonald, Cabral and Nolasco were present at tonight’s Q&A following Deadline’s screening of the season one final episode.

Ridley told Deadline previously that Regina King’s character in season two “is going to be at the center of a story that deals with physicality, sexuality, and societal boundaries with the same urgency as our first season dealt with race and faith.”

  • 08:00 - The Michael J. Fox Show - Getting A DVD Release
Waaaaay back in November 2013 we had the heads-up info that "The Michael J. Fox Show - The Complete 1st Season" was up for pre-order at Amazon.com (at the time...that particular listing is still there, but it hasn't accepted customer pre-orders for a long time now). This reported occurred in the middle of the show's one-and-only season's broadcast run; NBC aired 15 of the 22 episodes produced, and the other 7 remain unaired.

Now a brand new Amazon.com listing shows that "The Michael J. Fox Show - The Complete 1st Season" (yes, they're still calling it that, even though that season consists of the complete series) will be available from Sony on July 7th. We've confirmed directly with Sony that this item IS coming out on that date, and that it will be an MOD (manufacture on demand) release. Price is $45.99 SRP, and at the top you'll see the studio-provided description of the release and on the above right is a thumbnail look at the cover art. No other info is available at this time, but if we find out anything significant we'll update you!

  9. They are arriving to Portugal, Italy and Spain in October! I am quite happy about it, although it seems that some of the content will be restricted for some reason. I know we won't get House of Cards for instance for some reason

    ReplyDelete
  10. Does house of cards air on cable for you guys? If so,must be because Netflix hasn't got the rights back,or doesn't have them at all.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You don't need to be in a location where Netflix is available. If you do a Google search, you'll find out how to sign up.

  12. Glad for those two returning to 'American Crime'.

  13. Yeah you are 100% right, I actually got curious after posting this and I went to look for the reason and it is exactly that. They sold the right of Orange is the New Black and House of Cards to national channels when they weren't thinking about expanding and now they are still trying to get them back before being able to air them. We will get the most recent stuff like UKS, Marvel's Daredevil, Sense8, etc though

  14. The website itself doesn't open in India. That's the problem.

Yep the same issue Australia nearly had.

They managed to reclaim almost everything but Orange Is The New Black and it was announced that it wouldn't be a launch title. Then they opened and it was there, they got the rights back last minute.

Unfortunately we're still waiting on the shows that were cancelled that they've picked back up. So far they only reclaimed Star Wars: The Clone Wars out of the 5 that they picked back up.

  16. Yeah here they say they are still actively trying to negotiate to sort it out, so maybe the same thing ends up happening.

  17. I like Elena Nick is my favorite. I will need to get Bitten season 2 so I can catch up. I thought season 1 was awesome
