    Game of Thrones

  5. Does Castle count? ;-)

House of Cards closely followed by The 100 for me. Surprised Elementary and other Sherlock Holmes based series aren't on the list. Masters of Sex is also outstanding

  6. Outlander (an absolute excellent show), The 100!!! and Game of Thrones :)

  7. Outlander and The Vampire Diaries

Pretty Little Liars and The 100 I find the most addictive story-wise.
I'm not as addicted to the stories in Outlander and Game Of Thrones, but I do enjoy them.

  10. Listed: Game of Thrones, The Leftovers, Orange Is The New Black

    Not listed: Justified, Hannibal.

  11. High 5 for Castle !

    ReplyDelete
  12. Outlander. Followed by Game of Thrones and The 100.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Game of Thrones & Outlander.

  14. From this list: Outlander and Game of Thrones

Off this list: The Musketeers, Poldark, Penny Dreadful, and When Calls the Heart

  15. As much as I adore Orange is the New Black, I have to go with The 100 and Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh man, I just realized I left out Hannibal as an option! And also the choice of others :/
Oh well, mistakes happen xD. Anyway, it's interesting seeing so many choices that I didn't know were there, like Justified! I had no idea it was book inspired

    ReplyDelete
  17. Penny Dreadful is book inspired? No idea! I may check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Same for me! I had a hard time leaving Orange is the New Black out, but in terms of enjoyment GoT and The 100 are among the highest ranks

    ReplyDelete
  19. The 100 and Orange is the New Black. Those were two of my favorite shows of the last year. Also love Game of Thrones, Masters of Sex and Outlander.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Penny Dreadful isn't a book, but several of the show's characters are adapted from famous novels. Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray for example.

    Great poll, BTW!! : )

TVD - for the fact that the show much better than books.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was going to include Penny Dreadful and OUAT as well since their technically based on several old books.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hannibal didn't click with me straight away, then I remembered!

Justified is based on a short story by Elmore Leonard called Fire In The Hole. He ended up liking the show so much that he wrote a collection of short stories focused on Raylan but also characters the show created.

  24. My favorite has to be the 100 because it is only Network television and can be that gorey and awesome

    ReplyDelete
  25. I haven't read the books & i don't intend to-I like the surprise of element on a weekly basis.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I thought about including OUaT too. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  27. Game of.thrones: I've read the books and they are awesome. There are differences in the tv show, specially in this season but I think both the books and the tv show are great.
The Vampire Diaries: The books are very different from the tv show. Even Stefan and Damon 's background is not the same and their personalities are different. I prefer the tv show by far. I think it is much better and interesting.
I didn't vote for this one but I've also read Under the Dome and it is an wonderful book. It is normal that the tv show is different because the writers are adapting a tv show of various seasons from just one book. But in my opinion under the dome should've been a mini-series. The second season was awful.

  28. Game of Thrones & Bosch

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks!

It's interesting to think about shows like Penny Dreadful and OUAT as book based. I went for the more literal sense of book inspired in which one physical book is adapted to series, but this way it opens up the possibilities to add plenty more shows.

  30. I agree 100% about UTD. The first season was pretty interesting and intriguing, but the second one jumped off a cliff

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, I also give it the edge for that, it pushed the limits of network TV. GoT, while amazing, gets a pass for being on premium cable, so you could say that The 100 is more daring, even though we can't undermine the importance of GoT.

I think a 0.001 tenth of me prefers The 100 overall, but it's such a tiny line of preference that I normally just regard both shows as equally amazing

    ReplyDelete
  32. The 100 as a book is an interesting read, somewhat enjoyable, but a far cry from the quality of the TV adaption.
It's one of the few cases in which the adaption is better than the book; Jason Rothenberg took an interesting premise and turned into gold

What about BBC Sherlock? It's my fav, followed by Game of Thrones.

  34. The 100 & Outlander :)

Outlander and Game of Thrones for me

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alexandra Finet17 May 2015 at 14:35

Like me except I don't read the 100...

    ReplyDelete
  37. The 100 and True Blood are amazing shows compared to those awful books.
Game of Thrones really knocked it off. Such complex and rich books transfered in such a good show on par with LOTR with me. Although I prefer the movie to the books. With GOT I still love both.
Really nice and we'll done adaption imo also BITTEN (have not scene S2).

Agreed. I've read most of the books and liked some of them, but I stopped when the TV show became The Vampire Diaries to me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would say Sherlock. Best remake ever!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Where's Legend of The Seeker?!!!

    Vampire Diaries,PLL

  42. Game of Thrones and The 100.

  43. Where is the Hannibal lecter trilogy (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal) by Thomas Harris?
I voted for Games of Thrones by default.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 1 - Game of Thrones (decapitated) head and shoulders above all others.... Then.
2a - Justified if it counts being based on a short story..... Then...
2b - Bosch. Few crime drams match their book inspirations for quality. Bosch does.

    Bones? Elementary?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well GoT is the only one I've both read and watched so that's the one I'm voting for.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Outlander for sure!
Also Poldark, True Blood, and Gossip Girl that aren't on there

    ReplyDelete
  48. Elizabeth R. Wolfe18 May 2015 at 21:42

Has to be Outlander for me - awesome acting and a kick-ass adaptation!

    ReplyDelete
  49. outlander all the way

    ReplyDelete
  50. Tie between Outlander and Game of Thrones, with Outlander having the slight edge for cinematography, music, and acting skills. Oh nevermind, It's Outlander all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Outlander and Poldark!

    ReplyDelete
  52. And then the Outlander fans found out lol

    ReplyDelete
  53. Current: Bosch
Other favorite series is an oldie but a goodie: The Thornbirds

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Vampire Diaries, but I've always thought the books were better than the show.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Outlander. Easy as that. ♥

    ReplyDelete
  56. Rizzoli & Isles will always be my #1, but I also like House of Cards!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Easiest vote ever! Can't think of another show from an outstanding novel that brings the characters to life with such a depth of feeling and charisma. Outlander is the best series with the most talented actors to come along since TV was invented. Thank God Diana Gabaldon has many more books to film with these wonderful characters!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Outlander is definitely the best show on this list so safe to say it's book to show is worth a number one spot! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was shocked to see it. I came here out of curiosity to see how the poll panned out, and BAM! 2,570 votes for Outlander when a few days ago it was at 76.
The 100 would have won if it wasn't for Outlander, but as a fan of The 100 I'll take that challenge: The 100 fandom shall grow as big as Outlander!

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Musketeers, Poldark and GoT

These don't ever get removed? They just hang out indefinitely? Must make for a nightmare for the admins. Also seems a bit silly.....

    ReplyDelete
  62. No pages on the site are removed. I don't understand why you would think it would be a nightmare for admins, or silly that fans would want to be able to look back at past pages.
