  • 09:25 - MOVIES: Transformers - Bumblebee Spinoff In Development
The Transformers film franchise could very well be getting a Bumblebee-centric spinoff, if a recent statement from Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner is any indication.

"As we go forward, we would imagine several more Transformers movies," Goldner said at this year's Global Consumer Conference (via Dark Horizons). "Not just in the current lineage but also spinoffs and focusing on certain key characters that [are] beloved by the world over.

"Many of you know Bumblebee; the yellow Camaro... formally known as a yellow VW Bug and he is a beloved character by kids all over the world," he continued. "We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters."

  • 08:50 - American Crime Story: The People Vs O.J. Simpson - Rob Morrow To Play Barry Scheck
Rob Morrow (Texas Rising) is the latest to join the cast of FX’s American Crime Story: The People Vs O.J. Simpson. He will play Barry Scheck, the co-founder of the Innocence Project who is called upon by O.J.’s defense team for his DNA expertise.

The miniseries takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.

  • 08:40 - Halt and Catch Fire - THR Interview - Season 2 Reboot, Tackling Feminism and the Future
Season two is a bit of a reboot. What worked last season? What needed work? What are some changes for this season?

Globally speaking, we intend to approach the show much as we did last season. In other words, a strong evolving technology story will be the "spine" of the next 10 episodes in season two. But the real story will be the emotional and psychological journeys of Joe (Pace), Cameron (Mackenzie Davis), Gordon (Scoot McNairy) and Donna (Kelly Bishe). And this season, Toby Huss' character Bosworth, who this season we intend to make a fuller, more dynamic member of our ensemble.

We feel like we did a lot of things well in the first season, but we heard people's notes that it felt like it moved a little too slowly at first or took a few episodes to find its footing. This is why this season we've really concentrated on — without sacrificing any of the psychological or emotional depth — parachuting in. Season two will focus on the early Internet — the proto-Internet — through Mutiny, which is the name of the company that Cameron and Donna will be running. So season two is going to be highlighting not only start-up culture, but also the formidable female entrepreneurs, Cameron and Donna, who are running this company.

Two women building something special in the '80s sounds as if the show is taking a strong stand on feminism.

Oh, there's no doubt about it. My and [fellow creators] Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers' pet peeve is when female characters in dramas on television wind up only as accessories to the male storylines. By the time episode four come around — a very Donna-centric, Donna as a hero episode — we knew we were creating two women in Donna and Cameron, who were formidable engineers and formidable people in their own right. At the same time, they're at different levels of feminism. Donna is 10 years ahead of Cameron roughly, so she has forged a path for women like Cameron coming up. And women like Cameron coming up might not appreciate the way Donna has blazed the trail. So while they're both feminists in their own way, there's certainly a differential between them that's fodder for drama in the way they view the marketplace. It's one thing to [create a start-up] now but it's quite something different to do it 30 years ago. There weren't many data points for start-ups reaching meteoric success. So you had to be even more arrogant, even more intrepid and even more blind to reason if you were going to do something like that. To be two women on top of it, trying to blaze a trail in tech is really a story worth telling.

  • 22:00 - Married - Frances Conroy and M.C. Gainey Join Cast
Frances Conroy and M.C. Gainey have been tapped to guest-star on Married’s upcoming season 2 premiere, EW has learned exclusively.

Conroy (American Horror Story) appears as Janice, Lina’s mother, with Gainey (Justified) as Ed, Lina’s stepfather (see first look photos above and below), on the FX comedy, which centers on Lina (Judy Greer) and Russ Bowman (Nat Faxon), a married couple with three children.

“[Lina] really wants to bring her mother home because she feels like she’s not getting the care and attention she deserves,” Faxon says, adding that when the pair go to visit the parents, things take an unexpected turn.

Adds Greer: “I find lube in my mom’s bathroom and I freak out because I feel like my mom is suffering from a little bit of dementia and I’m like ‘How could he be having sex with her if she doesn’t even know who she is sometimes?’ and I freak out about that.”

Conroy and Gainey join the previously announced new face in season 2, series regular Sarah Burns, who will play Abby, a single mother who becomes an ally of Lina’s at school. Burns’ addition follows Jenny Slate appearing in fewer episodes after signing on for a FX road-trip comedy pilot.

  • 22:00 - Animals - HBO Picks Up Animated Series
HBO has given a two-season pickup to the animated series “Animals” produced by the Duplass Brothers.

The first two episodes screened this year at Sundance, generating buzz that led to the HBO pickup. HBO has acquired worldwide rights to the first batch of episodes produced and has ordered a second season. The half-hour series is targeted for a 2016 debut.

“Animals” was created by New York-based advertising creatives Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano as a series of animated shorts revolving around downtrodden creatures — pigeons, rats, bedbugs, etc. — living in New York City.

“Animals” is exec produced by Mark and Jay Duplass through the pair’s Duplass Brothers Television banner. The brothers are already in business with HBO on the domestic comedy “Togetherness,” which wrapped its first season in March and is set to return next year.

“Jay and I have been excited about bringing the principles of indie film to the TV space, and to have our first real experiment land at a place like HBO for two seasons is beyond what we could have imagined,” Mark Duplass said.

Matarese and Luciano handle many of the character voices on the show. Mark Duplass, Katie Aselton and Nick Kroll are among the guest voices set for the series, which HBO describes as being for “adult” audiences.

  • 22:00 - CBS Likely to Reach Streaming TV Deal With Apple
Apple's much-rumored plans to launch a streaming TV service in the fall were confirmed today at Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where CBS CEO Les Moonves told Re/code's Kara Swisher that CBS will "probably" sign a deal with Apple for the network to be included as a launch partner. “We’re very excited about it,” he told Swisher during his live interview on Wednesday morning.

Moonves confirmed that he met with Apple senior executive Eddy Cue last week to discuss the plans, as part of an "ongoing conversation" about the upcoming streaming TV service, but said he does not know when the service will launch. The service has been rumored to be unveiled at WWDC next month, but Apple's efforts to include local programming could delay the announcement until later this year.
