    ———-

Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. These overnights are your first look at the ratings and a precursor to what could lie ahead. And we take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence.

    -Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “The Flash” (CW)

    -Honorable Mention:
    “The Bachelorette” (ABC)

    -Losers (excluding repeats):
    “Hell’s Kitchen” (Fox), ‘iZombie” (CW)

    ———-

    Ratings Breakdown:
It was the battle of the two-hour “Dancing With the Stars” and “The Voice” season-enders last night. “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC concluded another successful edition at a 9.3 rating/15 share in households from 9-11 p.m., which bested competing “The Voice” on NBC (7.1/11) by a notable 31 percent. But “The Voice,” of course, will hold a significant advantage in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demographics). Comparably, “Dancing With the stars” slipped by 10 percent from the year-ago season-ender, while “The Voice” was consistent (both shows concluded on 5/20/14). Given the competitive scenario next fall, expect more success for both reality/competitions in 2015-16.

Earlier in the evening on ABC was a one-hour edition of “The Bachelorette” at a 5.4/ 9 (#1t) from 8-9 p.m., which is quickly settling in for another successful summer run. And a recap edition of “The Voice” (translation: repeat) scored a third-place 5.0/ 8 in the hour.

Also concluding for the season last night was “The Flash” on The CW, which at a 2.7/ 4 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. was on par from one week earlier. And that 2.7 rating in the overnights last week translated into 3.65 million viewers and a 1.5 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data. For The CW, “The Flash” is its highest rated series historically.

Next on The CW has ‘iZombie” at a 1.3/ 5 (#5) in the 9 p.m. hour, which only held 48 percent of “The Flash” lead-in. Both “The Flash” and “iZombie” will remain intact on Tuesday next season.

Elsewhere, two hours of diluted “Hell’s Kitchen” on Fox averaged a 2.5/ 4 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was still a notable improvement from the debut of classic fiasco “I Wanna Marry Harry” on the year-ago evening (1.6/ 2 on 5/20/14 from 9-10 p.m.). And CBS populated this third Tuesday in May with encore telecasts of “NCIS” (#1t: 5.4/ 9), “NCIS: New Orleans” (#3: 4.4/ 7) and another episode of “NCIS” (#3: 4.1/ 7).

  1. Nice for iZombie and Flash. I hope Flash raises a bit 1,6-1,7 would be neat. Hoping for iZombie to stay in the 0,7s.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Really hoping for a 0.7-0.8 from iZombie.

    ReplyDelete
  3. While I have a grudge against iZombie it's certainly not a loser. Marc the Retentionista strikes again.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The Voice finale may not crack a 3.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I cannot watch thr flash until Tomorrow. God that makes me crazy. I have not been spoiled yet though :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Why do you are grudge against iZ?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Two reasons, 1) It has a cast I love but a premise I can't stand, and 2) The show I do like, TM, was given no chance while IZ was given the best chance to do well.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I have kinda moved on from TM getting the stepchild treatment since I am enjoying iZ.

    ReplyDelete
  9. He's very inconsistent.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Do U really think it will premiere in midseason? I think they will push it to summer, the only other solution I see is Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. the flash was great so I'm glad the ratings will reflect that

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have Summer favourites to keep me going until Fall but after that it'll hit me. Most of the new broadcast shows I'm looking forward to are mid-season as well, it'll be quite a wait.

    ReplyDelete
  13. yesterday's 7.2/11 translated to a 2.6 so you might be right

    ReplyDelete
  14. oh ok. guess we'll see soon enough

    ReplyDelete
  15. Really awful. It already feels like 5-6 months have passed and the show is just 2 months on a hiatus.
I hope they find a way to squeeze it into the schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Agreed, NBC has to be worried about cycle erosion for the Voice. Monday's episode was down 20% from last year and last night's will probably be similar. Especially since both lead-out next year, Blindspot and Heartbreaker are struggling to find traction and buzz. As of yet, there is zero anticipation online for either. As compared to Supergirl, which slotted at Monday at 8, could do major damage to the Voice.

Things do not appear to be much better with NPH as if Maya Rudolph is any indication the half hours drop significantly and as his hosting of the Oscars prove, he has yet to establish a defined brand of comedy or loyal audience.

All three could be below the results of Undateable, The Night Shift, and State of Affairs by episode three (if not sooner).

    ReplyDelete
  17. they deserve it. fingers crossed

    ReplyDelete
  18. He's a retentionista.

    ReplyDelete
  19. They did. And this should be a lesson to FOX with Empire, as they are doing the same thing with this show. Whenever FOX has a hit, they ramp up promotional efforts to 15 and it's always to the detriment to their shows.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They completely overexposed it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. That's the problem with time travel. You really have to suspend your disbelief. But I agree. Still really enjoyed it though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Empire doesn't need much more promotion. It has a ton of buzz right now and ratings growth was enormous. They should be focusing on the rest of their mess of a schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Christopher DeBono20 May 2015 at 15:04

Part of me thinks Reign may get the BATB treatment and get bumped to summer before finishing the season so The 100 can try the Friday slot. Part of me thinks The 100 would hold up better on Friday then Reign would.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm entertained by his biases. He's not very objective at all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Agreed. They should.

FOX is investing heavily in genre programming, which is fine, but they are going to have to convince their audience that we need a whole slate of very similarly appealing shows. That's where their promotional efforts should go. If viewers aren't convinced, their whole fall schedule will be a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think that is a realistic possibility for Reign, esepcially if it doesn't comeback from those multiple 0,3s.
I'm just not sure how well The100 can perform on Fridays. So I'm torn between The100 going to summer or Friday winter/spring.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They could try it on Fridays and if it doesn't do well send the 2nd half of the season to Summer and see how it does. Assuming it doesn't get a weekday spot mid-season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That is also an option. I hope it's a 16 epispde season again.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it will be, Pedowitz said 13-16 eps, they'll probably go with the higher number to get closer to syndication.

    ReplyDelete
  30. iZombie a loser? Hell no lol.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Weird that DWTS dropped almost a full point from Monday.

And even weirder that The Bachelorette rose from Mondays performance.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Christopher DeBono20 May 2015 at 15:41

Yeah I think it'll be 16. I heard they have a 5 season plan, so 4 seasons of 16 episodes and 1 season of 13 episodes would give them enough by CW standards. The show isn't really suited for syndication though but they'll still push for that option.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hopefully, Pedowitz sounded positive towards the show and I hope he does it right.

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's the only way to enjoy him. He really, really doesn't like genre shows and it's almost physically painful for him to say nice things about them. First, he's a total audience type of guy, partly because reporting those numbers let's him be first off the block with ratings, even though demographics matter more. Plus he really hates genre shows succeeding. Since those tend to skew young his total numbers doesn't work. He can't deny The Flash is a success, but any other CW show (except JTV) he will downgrade as soon as he gets a chance.

Once you know this, you can stop being outraged at him and be amused by his obvious bias and the fact that reality is the demographics win time after time.

    ReplyDelete
  35. But he didn't call it a loser last week, and its retention from The Flash was lower. I can't speak for everyone, but that's what I at least think is nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  36. In what universe am I blaming iZombie for TM's failure? That makes no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why isn't bachelorette a winner when it will be above a 2 most likely ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I had to post this somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Flash 1.4
    iZombie 0.7

    ReplyDelete
  40. They've created three timelines - and of them really work. Frankly, it wasn't necessary to go this deep in the mythology after only 23 episodes. It's too bad because it detracts from the rest of the things that made TF enjoyable this past season (more positive stories, humor and a pretty solid cast).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hell's Kitchen 1.2/1.3

    ReplyDelete
  42. The Voice 2.7/3.0
    DWTS 2.2/2.4

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bachelorette 1.9

    ReplyDelete
  44. How much did The Flash overrun given CW's 1.4 1.4 0.8 0.6

    ReplyDelete
  45. Brandy Danforth20 May 2015 at 16:04

I noticed IZombie started at 9:05 instead of 9, will that mean it'll adjust down?

    ReplyDelete
  46. How is possible that Izombie starts a few minutes later almost every week?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Victor Hugo G. Soares20 May 2015 at 16:06

    for sure

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ouch. And the ratings fall from the premiere. It will be lucky to get above a 1.0.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Not too bad for The Voice. It's demise is overstated.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Flash 1,5
    5
    7,5

    iZombie 0,7
    25
    17,5

    25/30
    0,833333

iZombie real half hours are probably 0.7 / 0.6

    ReplyDelete
  51. higher add rates for the flash.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Its going to be boring looking at ratings this summer

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't expect any ratings standouts. It'll just be a lot of mid and low 1 ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Does this mean it will adjust down to 0.6 ?

    ReplyDelete
  55. It doesn't have to, I guess we'll know more when RJK posts the three decimal numbers. If it's high 0.7 it might end up with a weak 0.7. (or in worse case a really strong 0.6)

    ReplyDelete
  56. A 5 season is goof even though the show got much mpre potential.
Can't wait to see what they have in store for S03.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Most likely,

    ReplyDelete
  58. DWTS even with last year.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Us certainly loves to see it's stars dancing.
Hoped for Flash to do a bit better.
So ratings stop to matter for me till Mistresses premieres again.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks. ABC will never cease to amaze me with their half-on, half-off scheduling with random summer shows. How do you think 500Q will do?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Like a 1.1 at best.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Umm that wasn't Hell's Kitchen's premiere. Its been on for two months now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. You did say you have a grudge against IZ right?

    ReplyDelete
  64. And how did you take that to mean I blame IZ for TM failing?

    ReplyDelete
  65. http://www.hollywoodreporter.c...

According to advtisers,ABC win raves NBC needs more risks

    ReplyDelete
  66. Brandy Danforth20 May 2015 at 16:33

IZombie was scheduled to start at 9:05

    ReplyDelete
  67. I completely agree with this article. I think NBC is going to be in for a shock (as well as ABC) when the fall's ratings start to roll in. Greenblatt has a history of double (and triple booking concepts). He doesn't just want one cop show but three (four if you believe SVU is a cop show)... ditto medical shows, live variety shows, etc. Meanwhile, ABC has created a portfolio centered around diversity of concept and of cast.

As a buyer pointed out, there is no need for three shows brought to roster: Chicago Med (the Chicago franchise is not a hit beyond reliable player status and is experiencing diminishing returns). Heartbreaker joins the already crowded medical field with an outdated, weak concept. Blindspot has the illusion of being a Blacklist clone and the general reception is that they have seen it before elsewhere. When their strongest new show, in buzz, is a reboot... it does not signify a strong new show slate. I have a feeling their will be a lot of midseason replacing, cancelled orders- a la Kimmy Schmidt and Mission Control- and timeslot swaps.

    ReplyDelete
  68. They actually are pretty good at doing it. Yes, breaking up the Wednesday comedies seems random but I think 500 Questions will score better than the hour of repeats of the middle and goldbergs that it is replacing from April.

NBC does it quite well too whereas FOX has at least improved this year with no bombs like I Wanna Marry Harry airing in the regular season.

CBS is the worst, they've resorted to repeats and burn offs already, which is insane.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I laughed so hard when I saw it. It's hilarious what people come up with.

    ReplyDelete
  70. True. I know you're not from America so I'll say this: from what I know most high school seniors have their last day of classes this week (if not today), and most college seniors are having their actual graduations around now, so The Middle really would have hit it home and gotten past that 1.8. Especially since Modern Family is doing their graduation tonight as well. I just think its a more obvious way to end the regular season with two special graduation episodes than the plug in a reality show 8-9, give a presumably crappy lead-in to Moern Family's special episode, and have The Middle's air a week early. That kind of stuff on the same night is good event watching, especially for the parents and maybe their kids if they're around. Does that make sense?

    ReplyDelete
  71. People are so creative.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I expected more from Flash. I hope it adjusts up. iZombie is holding strong.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I would love to know how to photoshop stuff like this but I've got no clue.
I never was good in the art of pictures and paints, I more a writting arts type of person.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't have the patience for such things. The speed with which internet comes out with memes and manips once a photo is posted is ridiculous. Where do they get time to do this stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  75. No clue. I barely got time to breath properly and not to do that. ;-)
My question is in what blessed moment U get the thought: "Let me photoshop a Flarrowverse pic?" My brain is like no way

    ReplyDelete
  76. I think people really like their facebook likes and twitter favorites. I am trying so hard to limit my social media experience as it is. I have cut down even my Whatsapp use. Stephen's facebook page was the first celebrity page that I followed. It made me realize how much time today's people spend on social media.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm always surprised how people idolize actors, character and tribute them on social media. I use tweetdeck and there I always follow stv, matt mitovich from tvline and natalie abrams from ew. And the way fans bash Matt and Natalie sometimes is unbelievable and scary. Just the other day Rumbelle fans were going all out on Matt and I was like wait whaaaat? O.o
People use social media way way to much for the wrong wrong things.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am even surprised with the effort they take for their particular fandom. Like arranging trends and continuously sending questions to EP's on different platforms. I wonder where do they get their time? And the mob mentality of social media is the scariest of all.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I even understand the kids, but there are some full grown adults going mental all over the net. Social media are a blessing and curse at the same time.
I meam just look at me. I have a disqus app that notifies me about every up vote and commet, and I'm never disconnected.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have limited myself to FlArrow forums in STV for discussions. I watch lot of other shows but I don't comment religiously on those forums like in here. I can't even keep up here sometimes. Smart phones are such a curse and blessing. Even after going to sleep I just have to check for updates. Addiction at its best. Next month when I go to India then I will hear my earful from mom and sis for spending this much time on internet. They surprisingly still stay mostly disconnected.

    ReplyDelete
  81. U know I'm bitb suffering from withdrawal with the lack of information these days. If Falsh didn't air yesterday I would probably be all over the place.
Don't know how I'll survive the next month until casting and story scoop come up.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Seriously. I am bored too. One thing became clear for me. Flash alone does not do for me. I need Arrow stuff to discuss. That is what makes me happy.

    ReplyDelete
  83. So bored. I enjoy the renewal/cancelkations pools on the sit but overall a pretty lame period.
Yeah they Arrow has an edge with me over Flash as well. I'm so much more driven when it's about Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's pretty great of iZombie!

    ReplyDelete
  85. YO plz tell Rene from tvbythenumbers - that im looking for her. she's been trolling me & got me banned from tvbythenumbers- i need to have a word with her pronto
