Thanks to Doc Holliday for the heads up.

  1. I like it. I think the CW is a good fit for it but where in the heck would they put it? If it came to the CW, I'd give it another try.

    Quick
Someone sacrifice a goat and make this happen.

I'm sure Mac or Graydon know how to pull off that fancy voodoo stuff, someone send a bunch of goats to either one of them.

It’d be nice if Arrow moved to Wednesdays with The Flash and Constantine still had the 13 episode seasons; lining up with SPN in the fall and then iZombie in the spring. But idk.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Haha, I like that. Someone needs to put some HooDoo on this now.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 02:38

I'd assume either Summer as a 13 episode series or as a bridge for Arrow (say 6 episodes from Jan-Feb?)

    ReplyDelete
  6. LOL Arrow is far better lead-in than this show. You're as bad as NBC's Greenblatt

    ReplyDelete
  7. I like that. SPN/Constantine, Arrow/Flash, LoT/?, iZombie/Cordon etc...

    ReplyDelete
  8. Dump it to Fridays just like the Messenges.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That would be good. I'll take it. Poster below put it with SPN. I can see that too, or it airing in SPN's spot during winter break.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think it would do better during the week on the CW. It fits with the comic shows and the supernatural element of SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just make Constantine a mid season show with Legends of Tomorrow cuz I dont think The CW has room for this show in the normal block

    ReplyDelete
  12. Can't he just guest star on Supernatural? Maybe Misha needs a break, I'm sure no one would notice the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's awful Arrow will get wrecked by SHIELD on that timeslot and SPN will never be an 8pm show. You people are really awful at scheduling. CW's death on 2016 might happen with this kinds of decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm still totally hot on my 6 episodes - 4 shows idea. (BatB, Reign, Constantine, 100)

Set a fixed budget -> divide it through 4 -> give it to the production companies and let them cut their corners. Could not only help theCW to get more shows under their belt but also satiasfies the fanbases.

    ReplyDelete
  15. No room and quite frankly they have a lot of comic shows already. No need to pick up some other network's leftovers.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:00

    Hmm.
Satan and Mac are not the same person? There goes that theory.

...wait we can sacrifice newborns? Quick! Someone steal Hope. 2 2 2 2

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ugh please don't. This show wasn't very good and they really need to fix arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is ridiculous. smmfh.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would. No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  20. We're currently taking time off from each other, soon I'll be his split personality again tho. Fallen angel stuff, really not easy to explain :P

Well, the list price for newborns is $2 per piece

    ReplyDelete
  21. never watched the first season, as seemed headed for cancellation. Id get back to watching it thoughbif picked up here.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Netflix deal requires the 4th Season to be at least 6 episodes. It only applies to BATB since it's been renewed for a 4th Season. Reign and the 100 needs more and this is only Netflix deal we're talking about. If Syndication is involved more episodes are needed for JTV,TO,T100 and Reign.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hush!! Just call Madam Kali aka Evelyn Poole [Penny Dreadful]. She is an expert in sacrificing babies.

*shudders* what a creepy scene in S02E02 - I love dark stuff, but even I was rattled.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I know, it's however a neat way to squeeze in as many shows as possible without angering an army of angry fangirls and fanboys.

100, TO and Reign are not fit for syndication to begin with. All three are heavily serialized and wouldn't sell well in syndication. Meanwhile JtV is the only show that is easy to get into due to the light nature of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Please dont. there are already too many heores shows there. Three are enough

    ReplyDelete
  26. That person trolls every single thread about Constantine saying how it won't come back, and now that they see they were incorrect about no one being interested they have resorted to saying how CW will fail because of this one show. It's entertaining actually but you're gonna get nowhere in this discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And that's if the CBS executive would've easily agreed. Remember BATB last season?

    ReplyDelete
  28. am waiting fo Stephen Amell to drop the "if you dont take the show, I will leave Arrow" card

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gurl, she will have it renew on NBC creating a doll of their boss! She just needs one healthy baby's heart

    ReplyDelete
  30. At least base you're accusations on facts. Tribune deal expire on 2016. Netflix deals expire this season.

    ReplyDelete
  31. he won't, there's no way he'll leave the show that gave him his breakout.

nothing against Stephen, he seems like a cool guy and all but...he's not an exceptionally good actor. He should milk Arrow as long as he can

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gurl? Sorry to disappoint. ;) :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. doubtful they would've agreed so easily but that system could've given CBS the option to premiere a new pilot that season.

Whatever the odds here: shoehorning in more shows with fewer episodes sounds (to me) like a bulletproof way to keep merchandise sales still going. Since neither Reign or BatB bring in any ratings whatsoever merch has to be where the money source is

    ReplyDelete
  34. To all you haters who didn't think the CW would/should be interested, suck it! Ha. This is excellent news, and now hopefully The CW will be even more inclined to make this season of SPN the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Constantine but...no freaking way

Cas is irreplacable at this point...frankly....I would mind Sam leaving less than Cas leaving

    ReplyDelete
  36. He won't do that. Idgas how close he is to this dude, he's not going to mess his career up for this dude.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Upfronts is coming we will see.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am baffled by the hate. Why? Is Constantine edging out your favorite show? Hardly. These are just talks going on and people are already frothing at their mouths.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Constantine is based on a comic, yes. It is NOT a superhero show. Some superheroes just happen to occupy that universe, but there's a massive difference.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I thoutgh you were a girl name Debra DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD: so sorry *awkwardly walks away* :P

    ReplyDelete
  41. Some hate Constantine others see their shows thretened.

All I see is a chance for theCW to establish itself as something it should be: the last resort for genre fans

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't get it either. It's not like them choosing Constantine puts any of their other shows in danger and they've been clear about wanting a year round lineup, they have enough shows to do so now.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Business wise it's not really a smart move. Ratings wise? It's getting a 0.8 on NBC one of the big 4 networks. Imagine how low it'll get once when it transition to CW.

    ReplyDelete
  44. but he saves people right?. He's a hero anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  45. That deal doesen't expire per say, contracts are just up for re-evaluation. If it expired the contract would be done for good, this however is "just" a giant meeting of Warner/CBS/Tribune suits to strike some deal

However you're not entirely wrong with your fears about theCW existing beyond 2017.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sabrina Elouardi13 May 2015 at 03:16

No it won’t. SHIELD is prime time, Arrow isn’t — so Arrow ratings aren’t going to be killed because they’re not based on the same scale. The ratio of people that watch Arrow on the CW’s level would literally be the downfall of SHIELD. And also, iZombie competed SHIELD these past few weeks and their ratings are so solid the CW renewed before upfronts.

Second of all, elements of Supernatural are based off of Constantine so for me — it seemed like an eloquent fit.

Third, the Arrow fandom has a more prominent standing than SHIELD.

Finally, The CW is one of the few networks that care about artistic integrity of a show over ratings. Sorry my opinion wasn’t the same as yours, but then again, not sorry because again — buzz generated by shows that fit in perfect slots is always good for ratings.

ABC’s lineup next year isn’t acquaint with some of it’s long-term shows and is going to tank in ratings — as it already has.

Again, the pairings seemed fit so that’s what I went with. Sorry you can’t disagree without throwing shade.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There's nothing wrong with The CW being interested in good TV. SPN has been no more than mediocre for a several seasons, and they're long overdue for another type of horror show.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Keep in mind that IF picked up by theCW Constantine would probably semi-reboot itself and thus have the same odds as every pilot would.

    It's a 50-50 shot there

    ReplyDelete
  49. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:18

I believe BATB and Reign only have novels as merchandise, neither of which are big sellers (though they sell enough to keep announcing new novels).

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sabrina Elouardi13 May 2015 at 03:18

The Messengers has nothing on Constantine though.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I understand that there may be business concerns but ultimately, that is for CW to decide, right? When did fans of other CW shows who have nothing to do with Constantine suddenly become network consultants? Or self appointed spokespersons?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm not saying that, all I was saying is that I'm glad that theCW is embracing its new genre-TV image. Remember 5 years ago when it was "the teen network"?

    ReplyDelete
  53. A fan of Debra Morgan from Dexter. Hence DebraFan. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I just think the CW doesnt need it tbh. But it can happen. They can do it a midseason show and air it after LoT if the LoT is short 13 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. and the obvious merch: VOD/DVD

it's still a valuable as hell market. In fact pricing season box sets lower than usual (due to lower episode counts) helps a lot because quite a fair share of people isn't aware that the season is shortened and thus just grab the DVD without thinking

    ReplyDelete
  56. LoT is very likely going to use Flash as a lead in to boost its ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The CW is still a teen network.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Then let's also say Sam and Dean are superheros, and Mulder and Scully, and the Charmed ones or Harry Dresden... It's just not the same. I get your point but Constantine is still a horror/demon-hunting story, Constantine is an occultist who helps people to piss off Hell more than feeling a sense of duty. Even though it can now crossover with Arrow and The Flash I don't put it in the same genre.

    ReplyDelete
  59. WTF? Do you even know what you're talking about? Ratings 101 please.SHIELD is a male skewing show. Both Arrow and SHIELD will be competing for the same demo. iZombie survived on that slot because it''s a female skewing show. It's like talking to a monkey.

    ReplyDelete
  60. "Finally, The CW is one of the few networks that care about artistic integrity of a show over ratings."

HAHAHAHAHA ! Man you CW fangirls are really delusional.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Still seeing the network occupied with mainly relationship dramas? All shows fitting that bill are JtV and Reign to some extent. Sure Arrow/BatB/TVD are romance heavy but they don't qualify as teen dramas.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Might check it out if CW picks it up since it will most likely cross over the with Arrow and Flash...

    ReplyDelete
  63. So magic might have a hero inn this universe? Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Sabrina Elouardi13 May 2015 at 03:27

I’m not a CW fangirl. This is literally what I see. Reign should have been cancelled, but one of the reasons the CW renewed it...was because of that...

    ReplyDelete
  65. it will have one for sure, even if theCW doesen't pick up Constantine. These showrunners have talked themselves into a trap they can't escape now. Constantine will live, if it's on Arrow, Flash, LoT or his own show doesen't really matter

    ReplyDelete
  66. No...the reason Reign got the renewal was a clear sign of bowing down to CBS.

    ReplyDelete
  67. If it does happen and works out, and is great well that's cool. I like the show, the character, and quite honestly I'd like a douchey anti-hero to join the assemble CW has amassed so far.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:30

Still wishing it was Zatanna tbh

    ReplyDelete
  69. He's a con man and a dick.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yeah, this universe is full of self-righteous heroes like Oliver and Barry. Some people that know that they're dicks and don't try to hide it are desperately needed (does Malcolm fit that bill yet? Sincehe's going to bite it tomorrow I doubt that but....)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Not going to happen. CW has way too many shows, not enough timeslots and I don't think they have the budget for Constantine.

    ReplyDelete
  72. That would be cool. Or Dr.Fate.

    ReplyDelete
  73. That's why we wait for the upfronts if they ever pick this up Let's see how Tribune executive's react to this since they are very vocal.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That's what I keep saying about their entire line up. This network has more shows than it can possibly handle already.

Whoever does financing there must have a horrible month

    ReplyDelete
  75. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:32

    Yep yep.
In fact if The CW does pick this up and they reuse some of their planned scripts then Dr Fate would be one of the first they'll introduce.

Apparently episode 14 or 15 was going to introduce Dr Fate to the Constantine universe.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sabrina Elouardi13 May 2015 at 03:33

SHIELD’s male to female ratio is a 55-45 split. So, if you’re talking skew...yes, there’s skew. But it isn’t significant. But whatever. You clearly want to spar a pissing match. My opinion is my opinion and you’re not going to change that so idk what you’re trying to gain. So, for argument’s sake, I’m wrong. Happy?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Malcolm fits the bill but he's more dark anti-hero/ anti-villain. H won't according to Barrowman. I'd personally love him either working with the team out of self-interest more and or possibly screwing them.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Seriously? Damn you NBC. I saw the helmet in the pilot, but thought it was just an easter egg.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That or somehow they've run into series cash.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:35

Yeah they mentioned on twitter a while back that one of the first episodes of the back 9 they had planned was a Dr Fate episode. They apparently had early scripts written for like 2 episodes including the Dr Fate episode but they didn't get the order and hoped to recycle them for season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Sabrina Elouardi13 May 2015 at 03:36

Really? That wasn’t what I heard, but idk. To me, The CW gives more thought about artistic integrity. I mean, for some shows, it’s debatable — but over the years, it’s been more noticeable than in other networks. But if I’m wrong, I’m wrong. It’s just my five cents.

    ReplyDelete
  82. They just seem to focus more on him in DC interviews lately and when a character that usually isn't given much exposure in interviews IS given more that means nothing good (they talked about his comic book history on DCs official youtube account).

I've slowly come to like the idea of him being the devil you know that isn't really doing anything too bad anymore. Especially since the character always had a love/hate relationship with Green Arrow (or more respect/hate)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I was gonna go all fancy and use a rare goat or buffalo, but Mac apparently works for the law firm of evil itself.

    ReplyDelete
  84. My best guess is that they trimmed the budget for various other shows good. Like cut down JtVs budget to a minimum (since it doesen't need too much already) and giving limited episode orders.

Whatever the reason is I'll remain sceptical until I see the production values for theCWs next season

    ReplyDelete
  85. We offered you a job but you wanted to use these high breed animals. We're producing on mass, we only buy high quality sacrifice material for our high roller customers (how do you think Paris Hilton got to star in a few movies?)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Shit so can I still take it or am I f*cked? Well as long as you didn't give the Kardashians their power.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Something must have happened since they're clearly trying to expand and really be the genres network (which is great).

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think they might use it on Thursdays as a lead-in if TVD tanks. They never paired spin-off with their parent show. They want a more stronger lead-ins since TO is already hitting 0.5s. TVD rebounded last week though and got a 0.6.

    ReplyDelete
  89. You gotta talk to Belzebub in HR about that, but be patient with him, he's just recovering from a messy divorce (some really sad stuff, dude is drowning himself in pig-blood).

Well, we didn't exactly do that but we were involved in Kims giant butt, Bruces multiple facelifts and gave them the brute-ish hellbeast Khloe as a bodyguard

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sound quite reasonable, TO however is rather easy to save. "Just" pair it up with a compatible show. JtV and TO as a mixture really isn't working for audiences

    ReplyDelete
  91. Shit that sounds rough. Pig's blood? How much did she clean his clock, he should be using human blood at the least. I wondered where a beast like that came from, makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Agreed, I'm really glad that we finally have a network that doesen't automatically say no to any genre show handed to it.

What I enjoy most about them is that they don't initially retool the project. What FOX did to Lucifer wouldn't have happened on theCW

    ReplyDelete
  93. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:49

TO and SPN I think would work better.
They did fairly well together in the 2013-2014 season.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Arrow already introduced the concept of magic with this season. They could go further next season, although they're likely going to focus on the Hive as an enemy. Overall, Constantine with some adjustments can be fully incorporated into the same CW universe. There's already Fate's helmet.

    ReplyDelete
  95. That would be nice for the fans, yet I somehow doubt it's gonna happen. I feel the show is out of The CW's budget, and I don't know if they'll find a place for it in their already pretty full schedule... unless they bump it to a summer show... which people would bitch and whine about...

    ReplyDelete
  96. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:51

RIP Lucifer. 4chan is going to cut this show to bits.

iZombie tends to get a pass because they like Liv.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Heard about that went from a bar to him helping cops. He's the Devil that's just wrong and stupid and unnecessary. I really hate FOX. That is what I love about the CW, despite it's flaws they have a clear vision of their network, stick to it, and allow a good amount of creative freedom. That and no cop shows.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm glad he's not doing Tequilla shots anymore, getting himself some mexicans and drinking them just for the little tequilla left in their blood is really low.

Yeah, she was using up space in hell, last she got stuck at the gates of hell. Totally blocked the "Ye Who Enter Here, Abandon All Hope Sign" sign, how else are souls supposed to find the way to eternal suffering?

    ReplyDelete
  99. They did, wich is why I'd want them paired up again. Similar tones, similar audience

    ReplyDelete
  100. Well, they do at times interfere and force them to write romances...well...that's the worst though. So we're save

    ReplyDelete
  101. The problem with that is on what day are they gonna put it. I doubt CBS would allow JTV to move away from Mondays. They already ordered a compatible partner for Jane. Maybe it could work on Fridays. I know SPN can survive on Fridays but TO? I'm not sure it can.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Are they already going after it?

as much as 4chan might've annoyed me in the past (simply by trending unneccessary controversial topics like this gamergate stuff) you've got to admire their dedication

    ReplyDelete
  103. I hate it when a break-up affects business. It's one thing to break a guy's heart, but take away the hopelessness and cruelty of his job, and you're taking his livelihood and any joy he gets.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The sad truth is, is that the guy is now stuck with his kids and former in-law. Imagine being stuck with the more hairy Kardashian cousins...

Got to take a call from Mark Guggenheim, he wants to barter his soul away for more Olicity, damn...we don't have much in stock

    ReplyDelete
  105. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 03:59

They've been going after it since BleedingCool leaked that the script was a buddycop show.

Here's the most recent thread: http://boards.4chan.org/co/thread/72010738/official-lucifer-discussion

Liv gets a pass because they like her butt and she makes zombies look cute.

I tend to find that /co/ is one of the better parts of 4chan.
    http://boards.4chan.org/co/catalog

    ReplyDelete
  106. See, this right here is why I'm looking for new representation. You're like the McDonalds of law firms, packaging the same sacrifice for every customer. I mean it's right there in your damn (excuse the pun) name - where is my wolf? My ram? My hart? All I get is goat, goat, goat, day in, day out. There is just no customer appreciation. And the last time I called one of your demons for help, they showed up three hours late and accidentally sacrificed my cat. Shoddy all around. Just because I'm not a celebutante doesn't mean I don't deserve top quality sacrificing service.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Ugh, that is rather worrisome. I fell like that network will only ruin the elements I liked.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Figuring that BATB has 13 episodes this season, the 100 likely 16, and Reign at least 13 (maybe 22)...you wouldnt need to do 6 episodes for each show. If all 4 shows did 10 episodes each that would be 40 episodes which would be two episode less than (BATB 13, the 100 16, Reign 13). Figure 22 episodes for Reign and all 4 shows could do 12 episodes each and still be under 3 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  109. If he's a client get Mark Pedowitz to cancel Beauty and the Beast while you're at it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. thehe, I'm kinda waiting for them to find something sketchy in the financing for the show to bring it to its knees :P

    ReplyDelete
  111. So the joke that Constantine read like a Supernatural ripoff ,just went straight over all your heads, huh? Okay, then.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 04:07

We could only be so lucky. I expect it to become another Gotham though which is just...terrible and is now using stunts to bring people in (Will it be the Joker this week?! ect).

    ReplyDelete
  113. It'll probably stay the same or similar but more serialized and paired with Supernatural or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  114. True, but still better than anything other network for meddling.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 04:13

    Pretty much this ^

He was fodder for LGBT and teen/tween shows previously because of his looks. Queer As Folk, Degrassi, Beautiful People, Dante's Cove, TVD, Hung, 90210, ect.

    ReplyDelete
  116. You mean like between the pilot and episode 2 where they recast the female lead for more sexual innuendos and sexual tension? No, wait, that was NBC not the CW. How are you so blind to the fact that most shows have a romantic entanglement on them because sex and love are fundamental drivers of human action and emotion?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Also true, but I would have been less derogatory about this it's Mac.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I said in another Constantine post months ago when there was concern it was going to be cancelled that'd be awesome if CW got it and tied it in with Arrow, Flash etc. Nothing in any of those shows so far would have issue with the idea and it wouldn't take much either.... they operate in different "fields" so wouldn't actually crossover much but would open up a lot of possibilities IMO

    ReplyDelete
  119. Point taken.

But the constant diatribe against the CW is tiring.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Christopher DeBono13 May 2015 at 04:20

    True true.

I've actually been trying to follow my local stores in regards to what sells. It looks like they just cannot sell BATB because it's starting to show up in discount bins and for under $20

Meanwhile Arrow, Reign, Supernatural and The 100 seem to sell well. Arrow, Supernatural (all seasons) and Reign are still full price while The 100 has started dipping.

TVD has been dropping in price in recent months too.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Plus the comic was so weird - though they have done a few jokes for the comic fans. In the comic for example, Liv's two best friends are a ghost girl who's really vague (Peyton is kinda vague even if she isn't a ghost) and a nerdy were-terrier (Ravi isn't a were-terrier but he plays one online). But essentially the TV show barely resembles the comic but the TV show is good so as you say, it gets a pass!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I just hope The CW don't force the series to be anything less than what it was on NBC. Don't give me silly love triangles.

    ReplyDelete
  123. They won't. That's not John's character.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Once they give it to a level headed writer Im all for it .

    ReplyDelete
  125. Alongside Legends of Tommorrow maybe? LoT will likely air during Arrow and Flash break. You could would have situation like now with those shows, so LoT would air in one day, Constantine the next. Or back to back. In the few months before LoT you could have Constantine guest star in Flash and/or Arrow to built up hype before his own show premieres.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Not gonna happen

    ReplyDelete
  127. I really doubt this is going to happen, but CW has surprised me a couple of times this year. So yeah why not?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Apologies, I misunderstood. I'd seen other people say if CW saved Constantine they'd basically destroy any good reputation they've managed to gain and that it would be bad for business. I took your statement as kinda being along the same sort of negativity but now rereading it that was mostly just me i suppose. So many people are surprisingly against this. So my bad. :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  130. JtV is too good though to be thrown in a generic relationship genre, at least, it's about much more than romance. Not to mention the fact it's very tongue in cheek about it all and not anything like the melodrama days of 90210 and GG and TBL

    ReplyDelete
  131. RiP The Beautiful Life. Still waiting on that last canned episode Ashton Kutcher said he shot but has yet to be uploaded.

    ReplyDelete
  132. The CW is more deserving of the name Syfy (or SciFi) than the real one.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Well at least he still owns his piano bar, he just happens to help his crush who's a cop work cases. The original reports made it sound like he just joins the police force but the promo eased a lot of my issues regarding the changes. But I'm pretending it has nothing to do with the comics. A strict adaptation would have to be on premium cable to work IMO. But I can accept it as is based on the trailer. Very charming.

    ReplyDelete
  134. WHOA!!! Constantine's not in the coffin yet, that's incredible!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  135. The second promo they released clarifies he still opens the piano bar, his new gf is a cop and he helps her while wrestling with his new conscience. At least he's not just like "Hey I'm gonna be a cop now!" which was my original impression haha

    ReplyDelete
  136. They never interfered with SPN after supposedly asking for the two girls in s3 (who I think were the writers idea and they blamed the network, even though both were excellent additions)... So yeah no reason think they would now haha

    ReplyDelete
  137. That hasnt been The CW for many years.

    ReplyDelete
  138. started with Constantine, and I love that character! Hope to see more of him in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I watched the first two episodes of Constantine and his loose super skinny tie bothered me so much I just couldn't take it LOL. Also, I'm so used to Keanu Reeves as Constantine, the main actor just didn't do it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Probably because it's a badly informed joke. It's the other way around. Eric Kripke is a big time fan of Hellblazer and other comics from DC's Vertigo line and was heavily influenced by them when creating Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  141. More of an anti-hero. His "help" is just as likely to ruin your life, get you killed or dragged of to Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  142. If DC allows it, there's no reason Zatanna can't show up on a Constantine show. Those two have a pretty sordid history after all.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Give me a break. I had this same discussion when it first aired. I don't care how much he took from a comic book. We're talking about TV shows. Supernatural was on the air first and has been on the air for like 110 years. Acting like that isn't going to be the touchpoint for people watching Constantine was ill-advised and absurd. And the idea that you could now put it on the CW where viewers grew up watching Supernatural but expect people to go "Huh I should re-evaluate a show I've been watching for 10 years to watch another (crappier) show derivative of similar source material." No one is going to do that. No one at the CW needs another SPN on the same network, I don't care how nice they want to be to WB.

    ReplyDelete
  144. FFS they already have three shows about superpants and they're planning to pick one from other network?! At the same time they put own shown of Friday to destroy it. What a bunch of @#$

    ReplyDelete
  145. Interesting to see if it happens, I guess if they can get it cheap enough then why not?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Wow, hit a nerve did I? Just because you chose to be ignorant about comics doesn't mean everyone else is. Eric Kripke's love of comics was extremely obvious while he still ran Supernatural. Constantine fans have been waiting alot longer than the 10 years Supernatural have been on air for a live action version. What we got on NBC was far from optimal, but it improved alot on the weak pilot and was tons better than that awfull Keanu Reeves movie.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Comic books guys thinking that shows should revolve around them like they have some sort of market appeal as a group bugs me in its narrow-minded ridiculousness. Book readers don't do this. Don't you get it? There aren't enough of you to matter. There certainly weren't enough of you to keep Constantine on the air. Supernatural viewers for all it's CW ratings vastly eclipse the number of people who read Hellblazer comic books. So in the world of popular culture and TV viewership, Constantine was a bad SPN knock-off with the same mythology, the same trenchcoat, the same vague misogyny and none of the good brother bond that made Kripke's SPN so popular. Maybe you wouldn't have had wait sooooo long if you'd just watched SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I did watch Supernatural, By season 7 the show started to suck. So I stopped.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Then you didn't have to wait so long for a live action adaption as you claimed.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Only Supernatural was derivative and not the real thing. It was fine enough when there were no other proper comic books shows around even if I could see the footprints of the much better material Kripke had used as an inspiration. It does not hold a candle however to an adaption (however flawed) of the real thing.

    ReplyDelete
  151. New representation you said?.I think the attorneys at Dewey, Cheatem & Howe are looking for new clients.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I crossed everything I could :-D I wish something good will come out !!!

    ReplyDelete
  153. I am puzzled with all the hate, seriously. I didn't even watch the show, but like, if this ends up happening (which I am still skeptic) and you don't want to watch it, you do know you can just skip it right? And the cw won't obviously cancel none of their shows (Read: they are already renewed) because of it. So, at worse, it is neutral to you, and I am sure others will be happy. What is the problem?

    ReplyDelete
  154. If the actors' contracts are typical they'll have until mid June or July to find a new home. I've gotten past the point freaking out if it is gone but I'll hold at some hope till then regardless of what happens at upfronts. With the mythology behind the comics this show has more overall potential than almost every other freshman canceled drama this year.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Those shows are always at the top of Netflix's most popular, unless Amazon offers a ton of money for exclusive rights that contract will be renewed. CW shows are very popular on Netflix. At least... From what I hear, being an employee at a Netflix owned call center.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I hope this goes through!
Constantine for summer with crossovers with Arrow, Flash and Legens of Tomorrow :D
The more the merrier I say!

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think people is afraid it is going to use a fall spot, affecting one of their shows, but I honestly don't think that will be the case. It is very probable that Constantine will be a summer show if The CW picks it up.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Keep it far away from Arrow and The Flash!! No crossovers!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Felicity/Oliver/Ray ring a bell?

    ReplyDelete
  160. If CW takes over Constantine then they will cut the budget which wouldn't be good

    ReplyDelete
  161. I don't think comparing this to Supernatural is quite the same -- Supernatural has never changed networks (well, it went from The WB to The CW but all the shows merged over).

    ReplyDelete
  162. Sad for the fans!
    https://twitter.com/DanielVCerone/status/598745865545650176

    ReplyDelete
  163. Finally, an end. Sad, but I take comfort in the fact that the creators tried.

    ReplyDelete
  164. No..no...no...please do not give this show to the CW.They will kill this show...please a huge resounding NO from me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Well hopefully he can guest.

    ReplyDelete
  166. CW is practically the only network that doesn't kill most genre tv, and they're probably not picking it up.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I do not understand this opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I'm not too surprised, I just have no idea where they would fit the show, unless it was in the Summer.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I want Arrow and The Flash to stay as grounded as possible. I'm fine with superpowers, but not with something supernatural like Constantine.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Snarky CW boss is snarky.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Magic already exists in the form of the Lazarus pit, and grounded went out the window when the Speed Force was inteoduced.

    ReplyDelete
  172. It could be a replacement to Supernatural. They seem to be very much alike and one is in it's, what? 11th Season already?

    ReplyDelete
  173. SPN will never die, I'm convinced! I think it will continue for a couple of more seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  174. OMG cannot believe mark would say that,

    ReplyDelete
  175. Isn't it kind of dead already?
    The CW would resurrect it

    ReplyDelete
  176. That was truly harsh from Pedowitz. He could just have said no

    ReplyDelete
  177. At this rate, i will have my kids watching that show live.. Is it still any good? I dropped it a long long time ago xD

    ReplyDelete
  178. LOL! well that's refreshingly honest. Honestly, it's not that out of place when you see how outwardly desperate Cerone has been this last week. Trying to get fans to flood station's e-mail accounts, filling them with false hope, etc. I get that he's trying to save his job...

The reality is moving a show to another network is difficult. The CW, in particular, needs to worry about overexposure to the DC/WB brand. They already have Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and iZombie. A fifth would be entirely too soon and could, very well, weaken the growth of the others.

Constantine's best bet would be FOX (which still needs a partner for Frankenstein Code unless it replaces Bones midseason with Sleepy Hollow) but the problem for any network is going to be the, reported, 1.5 million dollar licensing fee. That's very high and the production (which is CGI heavy) is equally expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Heh. I'm sorry, but if I was ever asked a question like that, I hope I would have a similarly snarky retort.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Magic and Speed Force is way different than Constantine's supernatural stuff. The series has demons and all that, and I don't want that on Arrow/The Flash!

    ReplyDelete
  181. I highly doubt it because Constantine is skewed toward a different market to the CW shows. Constantine is not about putting romances at the fore CW shows are.Its dead because it wasnt/isnt as promoted as other shows. It is dead now ,Id prefer if it stayed dead than for the CW to get its claws in...sorry..JMO

    ReplyDelete
  182. I dont care.I dont want it on the CW.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Have you seen The 100? that show is about everything but putting romances. I honestly don't think that's an issue. Other factors are, but that one is not

    ReplyDelete
  184. I get you wouldn't want that but there is nothing that would go against Constantine's lore.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Daniel Cerone's tweet from early this morning has since been deleted. So maybe there's still hope.

    ReplyDelete
  186. It is thats why the ratings are like that.Look at what they have done to it now and to me it was/is one of the best if not the best show the CW has.If and I mean a bif if..they pair Constantine with Supernatural then maybe I would say yes but Arrow crossovers...its a no for me...lol

    ReplyDelete
  187. Cant stand him!

    ReplyDelete
  188. DAMN IT!!!!! you shouldn't have given us false hope, ARGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Awfully full of himself, as if his network was the big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Still dead ahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  191. He didn't. Constantine's EP did. TV executive will always have the final decision.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I still think he's a great network exec... At least he's the right guy to be running the CW.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Not at all shocked about it falling through..

    ReplyDelete
  194. Ohhh dear... your happiness is my happiness

    ReplyDelete
  195. It could be ordered as a mid-season replacement, a summer series, they could do an "Agent Carter" thing with it, etc. There are all kinds of creative options that could put in the CW stable. That also opens the door to crossovers, not just with characters, but bringing small bits of the supernatural into the superheroverse. Dr Fate, Spectre, already mentioned
