  1. Finally! And thanks for renewing H50.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Its about time.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm surprised they renewed CSI: Cyber. I hope the order is short because that show's ratings will be really ugly when CBS inevitably pulls the plug.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Hell Yeah!!! Finally!!!

Very happy to see H50 renewed. I was expecting but there were some doubts! I am also glad to see POI and TGW renewed without issues though that was a given!

Lol at the renewing Cyber and TOC, but well, they are making their own bed, enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dhintak!! Dhintak!! Dhintak!!! - just a beat in my head as I do a happy dance for POI.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm really pleased that Person of Interest got renewed, even though it was certain. Love the show.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Bravo!!! All my shows renewed! Thanks CBS!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Happy about "Person of Interest".

    ReplyDelete
  9. What exactly is the benefit of renewing Cyber? Just to keep the franchise alive?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Took you long enough, CBS! But YAY Person of Interest is renewed!! I was getting a little bit worried for a second there honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeeeaaah POI !!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. YES YES YES YES YES PERSON OF INTERES!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Madam Secretary canceled?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I absolutely hate when people use this argument but I think this is the one exception in which international sales and all that crap is the cause for the renewal. That, and the huge potential for syndication they see based on the history of the franchise. I think it is a dumb renewal anyway, that and TOC.

    ReplyDelete
  15. TGW and POI <3 i'm so happy right now!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Renewed in January

    ReplyDelete
  17. Deadline reports POI may have been renewed for a final season. Stay tuned.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Took them long enough.
Odd Couple is The Millers 2.0, wiill go through the same fate

    ReplyDelete
  19. And with the Elementary renewal, that's it. It's official. All of my shows have been renewed. All of them. This has never happened to me before. Something is always canceled. This is so cool.

I'm not sure what to do with this. I have nothing to worry about until next season. No ratings to sweat, no worry on of my favorite shows is about to go out on a cliffhanger, no praying that Netflix/Hulu/TBS/whatever deal goes through. This is ... very new for me. But in a good way. :D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Better than nothing, I guess. And at least it gives them something to work towards

    ReplyDelete
  21. Elementary and Good Wife are the 2 CBS I watch so that is cool. Now I wonder if its a full season for Good Wife or not.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Heights of ecstasy and lows of sadness- all within moments.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I rather have 1 more season with an ending than 2 more with a cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So CBS chickened out of the cancellations.
The bear has to go into his summer sleep quite hungry.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thank you CBS for another year of MacDanno Bromance-I'll be forever grateful for this.Take that Cancellation Bear!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Got what I wanted. Season 5... BITCH.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hope not. Person of Interest is among the few shows that I watch that I look forward to every week.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Please let a good show be on during Hawaii Five 0 so I dont gotta watch it

    ReplyDelete
  29. Lori Henderson11 May 2015 at 19:45

    Yay! POI! Our favorite show!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. These past few closing weeks of the season it's been one of six only, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes TAR! Hope it's for 2 cycles and moves back to Sundays.
The Odd Couple = The Millers 2.0. But at least Matthew Perry broke his cancellation streak.

    ReplyDelete
  32. finally CBS announced their renewels. glad I can watch another season of NCIS, NCIS La, 5-0, Elemantary, POI and csi cyber. now all I need is a word on csi

    ReplyDelete
  33. I cannot imagine how TAR will fit on the schedule. I already find it impossible to fit the 7 syndication-bound shows they have (MS,TGW,Elementary,POI,H50,BB,Cyber) on the weekend nights (Friday+Sunday). How to add TAR to that seems impossible to me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It is a stupid renewal.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am sure TAR is more profitable than those shows, though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You are sooo lucky. Although this season has been surprisingly kind on me. I had a couple of relatively big losses, but overall it's been good. I won't hold Revenge against it because it truly felt like an endig and I didn't need for it to come back from that so I am good with it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. YES HAWAII FIVE-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes!!! NCIS:LA was renewed! I'm so happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's desperation. CNS can't figure out why they can't get a show they own to syndicate.

    ReplyDelete
  40. For me it's been about 3, lol. I like all my other shows, but some episodes are so boring.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Highly disagree, most of these shows have huge syndication deals keeping them alive that more than make up for the difference in ratings (Which isn't even that big anyway). The only one I could see not being the case is MS but they are probably hoping to score a millionaire deal like TGW.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm crying & laughing at the same time :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I guess we will have to wait until the actual presentation to find out if POI is final?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Same, all mine are renewed too now that the Elementary renewal is official. I'm quite pleased. :) It's a good feeling.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Someone might leak it but otherwise yeah probably.

    ReplyDelete
  47. EmbraceYourInnerFreak11 May 2015 at 19:52

POI! YES! YES! YES! I'm so happy right now!

    ReplyDelete
  48. As predicted this morning, CBS got cancellations out of way on Friday. Boo on TOC, but whatever. As long as CSI gets an appropriate farewell, I'm good.

    ReplyDelete
  49. How many episodes will Hawaii Five-0 have? Its not a final season is it?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Until then, I will hang on to the very thin hope that it will not be the final season.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hopefully after last night's TGW performance, CBS realizes the problem on Sundays started and ended with MS. They really should've moved TAR back for Spring cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm actually hoping for the opposite for once.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I doubt it will be shortened.Either way,we'll know wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  54. No way will POI end in season 5 unless CBS announces it as its last season. At the very least, they'll get The Mentalist treatment and have a shorter 6 season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was relatively confident on this renewal but I think expecting another one might be pushing it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think they should air something on Saturdays. I am serious. They don't have the room!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Well I just dont want it to end on a cliffhanger next season lol. If it is its final season, i want them to end it properly :p

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have been hoping for a full S5, followed by a 13 episode wrap up of the series in S6

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks, and trust me, I'm aware. I've been a TV addict basically since I figured out how to turn one on by myself, and I don't think this has ever happened, even when I watched mostly Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. I just happened to like a lot of CW and ABC shows this year, and those were the networks that handed out renewals like candy in 2015. They are officially my favorite networks going into next year.

Sorry about your losses. At least Revenge got a wrap-up; it sucks when they get no warning.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Cyber will be retooled - just like Miami was when the fired Kim Delaney after 10 episodes and NY was after it was severely criticized for the dark/night, etc. Cyber didn't have luxury of full season to make adjustments. The real question is why CBS went through with MS renewal. That is a sinking ship bringing down the entire line-up. For reference, it rarely makes the Top 25 of DVR demo OR viewers - even low-rated CBS pick up viewers. It's just a post-60M time filler and killing everything else in wake.

    ReplyDelete
  61. YAY for Person of Interest!! Not bothered if it ends next season so long as we get a proper ending!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yes, even without football, TAR was getting mid to high 1s on Sundays as compared to MS's abysmal ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That would be more preferable than being cut off at S5.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Congrats, and I know, right? Although it does feel a bit like I wasted my time nail-biting over ratings this year. Apparently I had nothing to worry about. For once.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Indeed ;) Good for you, enjoy the good year!

    ReplyDelete
  66. A Matthew Perry post-Friends show getting a 2nd season? Wow !

    ReplyDelete
  67. They should. Why not? These shows don't live from the rating they get but from syndication deals anyway. And if they force one of the weekend 7 into a weekday (such as Cyber) they will only premiere 2 new dramas in the fall, which is way too little for CBS which has 5 new dramas ordered.

    ReplyDelete
  68. did anything not get renewed?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Same here. But let's calm down and enjoy this renewal before worrying about the situation one year from now or else it is very stressful lol.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 100% agree.Peter wouldn't do that to us,don't worry.

    ReplyDelete
  71. CSI is on the bubble.
Stalker, McCarthys and Battle Creek got canned.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Kristi Hungerford11 May 2015 at 20:01

AHHHHH LAST SEASON HELL NO POI IS STIL FREAKIN FANTASTIC AND HASNT EVEN COME CLOSE TO OVERSTAYIN ITS WELCOME as for csi cyber whyyy whyyy its crap and Yesss on elementary and hawaii 5 0 love them

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well, Matthew Perry finally broke his cancellation streak.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If they keep H50 on the same day & time as Grimm I will be a happy guy

    ReplyDelete
  75. Finally POI *-*

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks! I will. :D

    ReplyDelete
  77. If it is the final season of POI I hope & pray they announce it Wednesday at there up fronts so it's crystal clear that the writers know & are able to write it as the final season

    ReplyDelete
  78. Justyna Kubica11 May 2015 at 20:03

I was worried about Person Of Interest, so YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, just noticed that The Odd Couple got season 2. I never actually watched but yay, congrats Matthew! :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yes finally!! Looking forward to more NCIS and NCIS: LA and possibly CSI: Cyber. Btw, the renewals of Cyber and Odd Couple are the first CBS freshman midseason shows that were renewed since a couple of years (2004? 2005?).

And now the only show I lost this season are Stalker, which is very sad, Battle Creek, which I'm behind on, and State of Affairs, which I haven't even finished (have yet to watch the last 4 eps) and probably never will.

I never expected so many shows to get renewed when this season started. I am trying to make an agreement with myself to only watch 12 shows in the fall, but I realize this will be very hard now.

    ReplyDelete
  80. 12? I could never do that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think they are the first renewals since The Unit.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Because ad rates, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  83. You are missing my point. There are 7 syndication bound shows for 6 weekend slots. So unless they send one to winter duty/ summer/ Saturday, they will have to keep one during the week at the expense of one freshman show. That freshman show, assuming would succeed, would get better ad rates than any of the syndication cows shows.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yep, The Unit was the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Your right, I am just so happy it go renewed! I just worry about it because i love it so much lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have 3 shows to mourn but the greatest joy comes with the Person of Interest renewal and if it is indeed only for one season at least they can give it a terrific final season, knowing ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Finally! Stupid work made me miss this.

    ReplyDelete
  88. POI and Blue Bloods yay, and Hawaii for when I decide to catch up again, oh shit me yay for Elementary too for when I decide to finish the last season, after I stopped watching after a horrible start.

    ReplyDelete
  89. So CBS returning shows is complete right since 2 Broke Girls, Madam Secretary, Mike & Molly, Mom, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and The Big Bang Theory were already renewed back in January and March ?

    ReplyDelete
  90. You mean you can't keep up with 12 or you can't limit yourself to 12? For me because it's hard enough keeping up with 12 shows and because I don't want all of my days to consist completely of watching TV shows, I am trying to limit myself to 'just' 12 shows. But with all the renewals and all the new series, that will be very hard to do now.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I doubt it. POI gets 1.3 million per episode from WGN. Elementary 3 million per from WGN, Hulu and one I cant remember. The Good Wife 2 million per, Hawaii 5-0 2.5 million per from TNT. Blue Bloods has a lucrative deal with ION and Hulu, but I can't remember the amount per.

I can see TAR being more profitable than MS or Cyber for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  92. CSI is the only one left on the bubble.

    ReplyDelete
  93. So i guess a few shows might get a shortend final season. They have a lot of shows now

    ReplyDelete
  94. I am going to have so many tv shows to watch next year. I only lost The Mindy Project and Revenge. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that most of my shows got renewed, but I don't know how I'm going to watch all my current shows plus new shows. Thank goodness for DVR and online viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  95. First on list, we need to find some double A batteries for POI's machine !

    ReplyDelete
  96. The Mindy Project will be back somewhere. It has to be. I will rebel if not.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I can finally EXHALTE! Been holding my breath for Person of Interest since Friday after following the Cancelation Bear......................

    ReplyDelete
  98. Is POI getting a full season? I'm predicting a short one just to wrap up the story.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Break out a big package of double A's for her

    ReplyDelete
  100. Deadline is stating likely final season.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Gaia Di Lorenzo11 May 2015 at 20:29

Cool NCIS LA & Elementary but why doesn't it syndicate? Maybe next year?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Person Of Interest is godlike, YEEESSSSS!

    ReplyDelete
  103. What do you mean?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Samaritan hasn't won yet!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I hope so. What happened to that "syndication gods" thing??

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yeees! It's official, TV's #1 drama NCIS is going into 13th season. Congratulations to cast, producers, writers and other crew! I will be watching ;)

And the episode 13x18 will be the 300th episode of the show.
As Robert Wagner sad, when they were celebrating 150 episode:

    ReplyDelete
  107. Agree with you on that one. While I think Season 5 will be a perfect stop, it feels one season short to me.

    ReplyDelete
  108. After that epic season finale, I'm beyond thrilled that Person of Interest got renewed! Squee!

    ReplyDelete
  109. This is me! I didn't expect so many of my shows to be renewed either. And now we have all these exciting new shows so I have no idea how to fit it all in.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yes! I'm glad they renewed The Odd Couple. I was nervous for that one.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Here we go again with the Criminal Minds "Trim the budget" Mothership-spin off nonsense. Hopefully CBS learn their lesson from last time and keep the cast in tact, but it's scary that talks are ongoing...Losing JLH, and not adding another face should be enough....maybe they could hire some rotating interns like Bones(as I saw someone else suggest).

    ReplyDelete
  112. NCIS LA is syndicated on USA Network for 2.5 million per episode
Elementary has a multi platform syndication deal with WGN and Hulu for 3 million per episode, one of the most lucrative syndication deals in history.

Not sure if that is what you meant.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I can only assume that Cyber was renewed because CBS didn't want to cut loose of Oscar winner Patricia Arquette. The supporting cast is pretty uninteresting and the storyline its predictable and contrived. It's basically like Scorpion. A bunch of nerds overcoming seemingly impossible difficulties through the improbable use of intuition and technology.

    ReplyDelete
  114. arrowshieldfan11 May 2015 at 21:27

Does CBS have enough room in the schedule to fit 11 renewing shows 4 new drama plus super girl plus comedies/reality show

    ReplyDelete
  115. Sad "State of Affairs" got axed. You might have mixed the two up!

    ReplyDelete
  116. The plan is to get CSI: Cyber to enough episodes to sell it in a package deal with CSI: Vegas, CSI:NY and CSI Miami.

Guess Cyber will be forced to make it to about 40 episodes

    ReplyDelete
  117. Has the Odd Couple been doing so bad?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Person of Interest ,Elementary,NCIS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I couldn't limit myself.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Let me breathe again!!! POI is superb television. However, I think it will gradually bleed down to a fairly low number (it closed its finale at 8.6 million) in season 5. I was truly hoping for one more rocking season of POI and it appears I got my wish. You can't have a show like that with so many back stories and flashbacks that builds audience. Virtually impossible so at least it will have an opportunity to say good bye to its millions and millions of fans around the world.

    ReplyDelete
  121. CBS needs to worry about the budget for lower rated shows and leave Criminal Minds alone.

    ReplyDelete
  122. So ABC/CBS is f-cking up with Criminal Minds again because of another shitty spinoff. Oh I have an idea, CANCEL the spin-off, with did they even create it in the first place. There was already a failed one that effed up the mothership big time, and it seems they didn't learn from their own mistake because 5 years later the same sh-t is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I have never seen the appeal of PA and could not like this show at all.

    ReplyDelete
  124. CBS has never left that show alone.

    ReplyDelete
  125. They need to worry about their shows that don't bring in the ratings and not CM. This dream is a cohesive unit. I wouldn't even mind if Kate wasn't replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  126. It's irksome. I could understand if it wasn't one of their better rated shows.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yes for Person of Interest

    ReplyDelete
  128. Everyone but MGG is renegotiating their contracts this season, I think we need to worry about losing another cast member. I hope not, but there's a very high possibility of it happening again. It was me who suggested that, but I also said it doesn't work for CM because the BAU is an elite team of profilers, while on Bones the interns are Brennan's students that are doing their internship and learning while also helping to solve cases.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Yikes. I hope they don't waste a decent time slot on it if that's all they want out of this show.

    ReplyDelete
  130. When I read H50 in the list I yelled "yippee" so loud my dog thought I was in trouble and rushed to my bedroom. Now he's looking at me funny.

    ReplyDelete
  131. What else could they want out of CSI:Cyber? It`s not doing well ratings wise and all the worth it has is the fact that it carries the CSI trademark

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yes! Extremely happy to see the renewal confirmation about Person of Interest!

    ReplyDelete
  133. True. But what if...there was like a program at Quantico for tentative recruits to get some experience in the field of profiling? Probably too much of a liability though. But I liked your suggestion!

I hope we don't lose a member though. I could barely watch the seaver/spinoff concurrent season.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Indeed. But to me it always seem like the show that CBS is most involved in. They fired AJ and Paget and they also seem to be the ones who really wanted a new character after Paget left. From what I read back then, Messer was fine leaving the cast as it is but CBS wanted a new regular. There was also a season CBS didn't want a cliffhanger etc.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Did you read the Deadline article talking about S5 being he last?

For the sole non-CBS-produced returning show, POI, I hear this might be the final season.

    http://deadline.com/2015/05/csi-cyber-odd-couple-poi-hawaii-good-wife-ncis-renewed-cbs-1201424574/

    ReplyDelete
  136. I agree and I think the issue is that it's co-production.I feel that CBS has been/is not willing to foot a large bill for a show as old as CM with a large(ish) cast that isn't owned outright by them. So they meddle...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Glad to see confirmation for the NCIS, NCIS:LA and Elementary. They were nothing but 100% sure for the for renewal but I am still happy. Can't imagine my tv season without NCIS and NCIS:LA. Hoping for even better 13th season of NCIS and 7th season of NCIS:LA. (Way to go for the 15th and 9th season of each show where persoanlly I would want to see them, at least before they end.)

    ReplyDelete
  138. seems like with all these renewed shows and all the new shows they should be able to have a season with better scheduling than this season, there should be fewer gaps/breaks for all the nets?

    ReplyDelete
  139. I would sadly accept a full S5 as the last season but I still have this feeling that it will be a rushed ending - as in two seasons worth of mythology compressed into one (the creators have always spoken about six seasons). They also have to resolve Shaw's arc and the possibility of a S6 had me thinking that her return could be managed very well. But now? Who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  140. That first spinoff was awful, but I actually liked Seaver, I wish they had had the chance to develop that character more but season 6 was a huge mess because of the cast shake up. I'd actually like if they brought her back next season to replace JJ while she's on maternity leave, at least she is someone we know and it would spare us of yet another introduction of a new character, and four years have passed since she was in the BAU, she is still working for the FBI which means she has grown as an agent and is not as green as she was when she joined them right out of the academy, and she has some experience in profiling.

    ReplyDelete
  141. TheLensOfTruth11 May 2015 at 22:03

If the POI producers know that this'll be the last season, they'll make sure to create something epic to make it go out with a bang. And I'd much rather see it slightly shortened than have it be too long and lose quality.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Isn't it the studio, in this case ABC Studios, that hires/fires and pays the actors?

    ReplyDelete
  143. I disagree. I think PoI's strength is that it is a network show that pumps out 22-23 episodes per season instead of the 10-13 on cable. The way that they have done callbacks 2, 3 seasons later are amazing and they have way more payoff than if they had been on cable where it's always bang bang bang (kneecaps). Not to mention that PoI is a unique show on either broadcast or cable, this show is the only one that I can think of that has an overarching mythology that is relevant to our times today. I cannot recall any other show that has done it from the very first episode to the last. Other shows always do one episode or a few episodes with regards to a recent event or sequence of events but nothing ever focuses on a current event in every episode that Person of Interest does.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I honestly think everyone's going to come back next season. Unless I hear official word that somebody's supposedly unsure about returning or the spin-off budget is somehow going to mess with the cast on the original (THAT'S the possibility that concerns me the most, honestly), I'm going to remain positive. There was also an article Messer did with 'Entertainment Weekly' where someone asked her if we needed to worry about losing any other team members now that Kate left and she pretty much said not to worry, so I'm inclined to believe that's a good thing. I think at this point in the show's run, the cast will probably be more likely to stick around to the end.
Plus, considering they're losing Kate, and JJ would be out due to maternity leave for the first few episodes of the season (and it sounds like it's been pretty much confirmed that AJ will be back next season, just not right in the first few episodes 'cause of her time home with her new baby), that significantly narrows down the amount of team members in the field-it's basically just the guys at that point (since Garcia's not a field agent). So I think they'll do everything possible to make sure all the guys come back, 'cause I don't think they'd be eager at the thought of having to try and find multiple new cast members to replace any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Thank you CBS. Thank you TV gods! Wooo Hoooo !!

    ReplyDelete
  146. I surely was sweating it out not knowing if Person of Interest was in the bag for another season,YaY,YaY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. I could see that being an issue, yeah. Whatever the network's reason for constantly poking about with that show, I agree with you guys, they need to just leave it alone. We fans like the cast as it is. The show works because of their chemistry and team dynamic. CBS should respect that and let it be.

    ReplyDelete
  148. CBS have their upfront on Wednesday, right? We will know for sure then. Until then I will keep hoping that S5 is not the last season.

    ReplyDelete
  149. VickiSue Rudolph11 May 2015 at 22:22

they own Hawaii Five-0 and it is in syndicate!!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Just like I'll keep hoping that Netflix will grab some new PoI viewers and then it becomes so popular that CBS can't cancel it and have to eat crow about it being a final season.

Think that POI and H-Five ) will be the last seasons IMHO to give the shows closure.

  152. I had forgotten they fired AJ. Now I'm even more irritated. I will never understand it.

  153. I watch CBS more then any network and happy to see all my shows sticking around for another year

    ReplyDelete
  154. Yeah, that seems likely to me.

I think you misunderstood me slightly... I meant it might lose quality if they keep it for 7 or 8 seasons. I like the 22-23 episode system too, it fits better and allows them to throw in those case-of-the-week episodes to shut up those fans that complain that "Person of Interest isn't about the Machine". And I agree with everything you said xD

  156. Still no news for CSI :(

  158. Thank goodness! Amazing news!

  159. It's the same rationale that keeps those six episodes of Law & Order: Trial by Jury airing somewhere in the world at any given moment.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Never watched any L&O series (except a few very early episodes of the original show just to see the start of the procedural craze) but I heard that that franchise is airing all over the world

Same goes for CSI as a franchise

    ReplyDelete
  161. Thought they said it was cancelled a few days ago?

    ReplyDelete
  162. They didn't confirm anything

    ReplyDelete
  163. I think part of the finale being low was it aired Cinco de Mayo and people were too busy getting drunk to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  164. POI ........... I was worried I wasn't going to see Reece's blue eyes on a weekly basis !

    ReplyDelete
  165. I meant comedies.

    ReplyDelete
  166. The Odd Couple renewed? awesome and Matthew Perry finally has a successful show, cool. I keep expecting to see Stalker renewed even though i already heard the news.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I would love they could go for more seasons, but 5 feels like a good number for POI. After Samaritan is brought down, no other threath would have the same stakes, and unless they could map that resolution satisfactorily on 2 seasons for a total of 6, I'm okay with POI reaching its conclusion sooner rather than later; a much tighter arc.

Not surprising but relieving. I kind of hope this is POI's last. I want a proper ending and would rather have a definitive 5th season ending than risk it ending on a cliffhanger.

Well, one obvious way to trim the CM fat is to simply not replace Kate. One big salary totally out.

    ReplyDelete
  170. It would be safer to end the Samaritan arc this season, and leave the team in a good place to say goodbye. If a 6 season happen, they can do a short, epilogue-ish arc with high stakes as a sort of farewell tour. It could be so fun.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Well that obviously signals final season. If so, those 13 episodes are going to feel very rushed.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Regarding CM budget trim - the last time they did that, they booted AJ and Padget and fans lost their shit - hope they don't try that again, especially since they are trying to launch a spin-off. I thought I read somewhere that instead of replacing JLH character they were going to do a revolving team member - a la Bones' interns. They could cut the budget if they just left the team short a member and I don't think it would detract from the team dynamics at all.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I never noticed until now that I don't watch any shows on CBS. Hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  174. They could cut the budget if they just left the team short a member and I don't think it would detract from the team dynamics at all.
Agreed. I think the biggest reason they'd be looking for a possible extra member is because of AJ still being on maternity leave early on in the season-it'd just be the four guys in the field, so maybe there's the whole thing of needing extra backup in that regard.
But ultimately, I think they could still make it work even without that extra backup. Maybe in that case they could lessen the amount of action sequences or something for a while (since I imagine those can get a little costly) and have some quieter, yet still intense, case storylines or something instead. I don't know how much that would affect any budget issues, but if it has an impact at all, it couldn't hurt.
Whatever happens, yeah, hopefully the budget cuts won't lead to any cast members leaving.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I forgot about AJ's maternity leave....but, I still think they could pull it off. Like you said, have some cases closer to home, show more scenes with Hotch and his son, Rossi and his daughter, etc. so they don't have to fill the whole 40 minutes with action packed location shoots. As long as they don't completely cut anyone, I'm good with that - part of the reason I fell in love with CM is because it's more cerebral than action. I trust these writers - I think they can pull off a smaller team and/or more intense with less action as long as CBS keeps their noses out of the creative process.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Yeah! I'd be all for bringing in more personal character moments to balance out the case stuff if they need to tone down the action side of things at all :) I love the personal stories with the characters, so that'd be a big plus for me, and I'm with you in that part of the reason this show is so good is because it isn't just nothing but action sequences. They have them, sure, and they can be exciting, but it's mainly about studying the psychology of unsubs, so it's best when the show's cases focus on that side of things anyway.
So yeah, if they have to cut some of the action stuff, then I can easily live with that. I also wonder if that would affect things in terms of the budget for the episodes MGG directs-I imagine the "Mr. Scratch" one wasn't cheap :p. So maybe he'll be directing some quieter episodes next season, too, if he does get the chance to do more directing. Again, I'll live with whatever if it means we get those six people coming back :).

  177. 13 seasons for any tv-show, is more than respectable. NCIS well deserves it (and hopefully beyond). Considering it's a spin-off of JAG, makes it even more impressive considering the original show lasted 10 seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Bah. There are 7 days in a week. Start filling up the weekends with primetime dramas :P

    ReplyDelete
  179. Agreed - this show has always been about the psychological perspective of crime fighting for me. Seeing Morgan kick ass with those amazing biceps is always a treat but not the reason I watch. Most of my favorite moments have no action sequence to them at all (i.e. Morgan telling Garcia he loves her after she got shot, Haley's death while Hotch helplessly listened on the phone, Reid's moments with his mom, etc). If they used this season to dig more into the characters and the effects of the job on them, I would be quite content with that....as long as, like you said, I get all of them back!

MGG is an absolute genius behind the camera. I bet they could hand over 3-4 episodes for him next season with a minimal budget and he would manage to creep me out just the same as his past episodes!

after that POI finale? it made me cry. i was happy when it was renewed.

  181. Frankly none of these are too surprising or unexpected...

Except maybe CSI:Cyber... but it carries the CSI brand so I can see why it might have gotten the pardon...

yes it is. So that means S5 & s9 are garanteed? So USA will air NCIS LA too? When?

    ReplyDelete
  184. Yes. I'm so happy about Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and CSI: Cyber being renewed! :)

    ReplyDelete
  185. I think it may be because of the co-ownership thing with ABC Studios.

    ReplyDelete
  186. It never means a season is guaranteed. Syndicated shows usually continue as long as 1) The main actors want to continue and keep signing the contracts 2)The production costs + actors salaries don't outweigh the syndication revenue + ad revenue.

As to USA I'm not sure when or if they air it yet. Off-network channels usually like to have programming in the bag to plug in whenever it benefits them, such as when they decide to stop airing another of the syndicated shows they own. If its not on there now, rest assured it will be.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Seems that CBS is going in the Fox n ABC mode of cancelling shows that to me are entertaining like CSI, but if u kept moving shows from day to day what u expect. But like I said CBS is following Fox n ABC. I like POI n enjoyed CSI.
