  • 29th April 2015 - Rumor - Joker Flashback Added To Film
This past week, David Ayer revealed his version of the Clown Prince of Gotham, and now we've learned that Leto's presence in Toronto as the Joker will end up serving both films. A few weeks ago I'd heard murmurs of a flashback sequence that had supposedly been added to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where we'd see Jared Leto's Joker beating and killing Jason Todd, aka Robin. I chose to sit on it until there was more information.

Now a photo has appeared online via Etalk of Ben Affleck in Toronto- which is where Ayer and co. are knee-deep in production- and we’ve been told that Bruce Wayne/Batman will be making an appearance in Suicide Squad. On top of that we've heard that the Batmobile has been spotted in Toronto as well. This adds credence to their being a strong link between Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.

The idea that the Joker kills one of Batman's Robins comes from the 1988 Batman comic story arc "A Death In The Family," where a reader telephone poll chose Jason Todd's Robin as a victim of the Joker's deadly wrath.

  • 18th October 2014 - Extra Leaks Jena Malone's Role
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will reportedly feature a female Robin, with actress Jena Malone rumored to be playing Carrie Kelly, according to a local news station in Detroit.

WILX-10 News station reporter Kirk Montgomery spoke with one of the extras at Michigan State University, where a scene involving Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) was being filmed this week.

“I’ve also learned that the character of Robin is now female,” he said alluding to the film’s top secret script.

  • 24th July 2014 - First look at Batman

  • 10th July 2014 - Rumor - Another villain to appear
Bleeding Cool sources who have been rather reliable in the past have told us that they have seen Batman V Superman designs for the character of Doomsday. In the comics, Doomsday was the creature who killed Superman, in an epic battle across all the Superman titled, culminating a battle composed entirely of splash pages drawn by Dan Jurgens.

Now, of course, much can change in the production process. This may be used purely for flashback purposes on the screen, looking at the life (and death) of Superman. It may be purely for promotional efforts to accompany the film. Or it may not make it to the final cut.

But as of now, it looks like Doomsday, the killer of Superman, be in the next film… will Superman make it out alive?

  • 3rd July 2014 - New image of Superman

  • 14th June 2014 - Jason Momoa to play Aquaman
So remember a few weeks ago when Jason Momoa made headlines because he said he was tired of being asked if he was going to play Aquaman in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice"?

Well, he's totally playing Aquaman in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice."

While Warner Bros. hasn't made that announcement officially yet, HitFix can confirm that he will be playing the part, and that Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon.

I'm not sure if that [Aquaman] is the actual name they'll use or not, but what we're hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once Snyder gets to "Justice League."

  1. Thanks for the roundup!

I want to be excited for this movie, but I know better than to expect much from DC.

Here's hoping the surprise me though...

    ReplyDelete
  2. Hoping the trailer will blow me away and ease my concerns but still not convinced it will.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I doubt it too... and even if the trailer is good, that could very well be misleading anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The teaser it's out. It's the logo reveal and it's freaking AWESOME https://www.facebook.com/officalsupermanvsbatman/videos/405416126295094/

    ReplyDelete
  5. Can't wait for the trailer. Should be exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I can't stand this new trend of the teaser of the trailer with just the logo that everybody is doing right now. Still I can't wait for the full trailer that will come out with Mad Max.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Me either. One critic wrote an article on it, posted yesterday that said "Show me the damn trailer already." Not just for this one but all movies that promo teasers for a trailer.
I don't even want to see this one now, honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  8. out there somewhere is the leak version of teaser......that all I say about it

    ReplyDelete
  9. The trailer is phenomenal.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I expected to outright hate it but I just feel incredibly underwhelmed by the trailer. I'm not sure if that is good or bad. It seems like everyone else feels the same way judging by the total lack of reaction to the trailer leak.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Loved the trailer.

    ReplyDelete
  12. From what I've seen a lot love it. A lot hate it (though it mainly seems to be because of it's tone and Snyder) and a small amount are underwhelmed.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Agreed. Loved that do you bleed? Bit.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thing it is quite solid. U get a feel of the vibe and what U can expect from the movie. Think Ben looks good and he'll do a fine Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didn't win me over at all. Probably need to wait for a proper trailer with more footage.

    ReplyDelete
  16. My main concern at this point is how the movie is going to handle the introduction of the other big characters. Not even a hint of them in this.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Meh... I get "pretentious mess" vibes, and I blame Snyder.

    Positive thoughts:
I thought Affleck looked good both in Bruce and in Batman mode. (haven't decided about the voice yet... but the "do you bleed?" bit was pretty badass)
And Jeremy Iron's sounded like the perfect Alfred IMO...

    ReplyDelete
  18. they're definitely going to fight aren't they? my favorite DC Superheroes in a fight is so messed up

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well it is Batman versus Superman, so them not fighting would be pointless...

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's the first teaser. It should focus on Batman and Superman and the context.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They'll team up in the end probably to fight Luthor.

    ReplyDelete
  22. them fighting is also pointless he is f*cking superman and unless Batman has a kryptonite suit and weapons its the definition of futility. WW has a better chance against SM then BM.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lol. Powered suit combined with kryptonite and enough electricity to kill a man a thousand times over and a plan will be enough. And Batman is Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  24. did they say his suit was kryptonite or that he is using? if so how would he know that SM is vulnerable to it? don't see how electricity factors into it. Yeah, Batman is sadly Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  25. this is my favorite summary of the film/trailer -

    https://twitter.com/TechnicallyRon/status/589337590526038017

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's Batman... he has contingency plans... and actually even in comic canon, Batman has kinda sorta beat Superman...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, I get that but maybe I just hate Batman too much to be objective. Not that I'm that big on SM much either. It just seems woefully underwhelming and as most DC things, trying to hard.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well if you hate Batman and are "meh" on Superman I don't think this movie is for you.

Personally I like both. And even though DC hasn't done great in the movie department (I'll conceded even their "good" Batmans had a few "try-hard" moments) their animated series of the 90s and the early 00s ROCK!!! And for that alone DC does hold a very dear place in my heart.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The suit is straight out of TDKR. I'd take the joke, but I love Batman too much.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Although I'm sure that's from the villain, perhaps Metallo. Bruce's lips aren't moving in that staredown.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No that's Batman. It's just hard to see from 10 feet away and in the dark.

    ReplyDelete
  32. yes, the toons are one thing, live action is another and I have yet to see anything DC has done in that department that has been good.

    ReplyDelete
  33. well, someone has a mighty Batman boner. This sums it better then me -

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LATPfqT4118

    ReplyDelete
  34. Don't get it and to be honest don't care. Bats is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  35. don't get what?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I get a few of the criticisms (it's kinda ridiculous since any hero could get that treatment) but I don't get or care about not liking Batman. Since all that was was nitpicking and poking holes for the sake of it. Any hero could get that treatment.

    ReplyDelete
  37. didn't say they couldn't but enjoy living in your world.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dude you dislike Batman okay (don't get it but fine), but it just sounds like you're implying as though there's something wrong with my liking him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. never implied anything and you seem to be reading way too much into a simple comment for you to enjoy yourself.

    anyway, have a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, no. No thanks. Maybe it'll start to look better in future trailers but as of now this is a pass.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Loved the trailer. Batman and Superman are going to fight. Awesome. I loved the new armor Batman suit. That automated voice is due to the armor right? Without the heavy suit Supes would crush Batty boy. I am really excited for this.

    ReplyDelete
  42. "Tell me, do you bleed? You will"

guess we found our next "Why so serious" :P

    ReplyDelete
  43. Are you going to watch this one?

    ReplyDelete
  44. And I agree with not trusting DC in the movie department, and I was very clear to state so in my comment above. I've been side-eyeing everything they've done and everything they have in development.

My argument is their animated series prove they can put good stories out there... I'm just hoping they at some point manage to translate that in the big screen too...

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've been reading a lot of comments that says it's most definitely not Batman. His lips aren't moving and the voice is very robotic. People are saying it's Metallo which is rumored to be in BvS.

    ReplyDelete
  46. what line? "do you bleed?"?

    ReplyDelete
  47. My "on the fence" attitude about the movie aside: Those posters are pretty badass!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm confused (and not up to date on the news for well a lot of reasons). Why is Batman fighting Superman?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Okay, I have another question: Does the V stand for something or are they honestly too lazy to use the established abbreviation for versus?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Evidently rumor has it, all that destruction that Superman and Zod caused in MoS is coming to bite Clark in the ass... people being divided over him being all powerful, Bruce takes it upon himself to make sure someone can take him down if need be.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tell me you're a woman so i can ask you to marry me!

    ReplyDelete
  52. "v" is actually an official abbreviation, although is isn't as commonly used as vs(.).

    ReplyDelete
  53. who cares, ask away!

    ReplyDelete
  54. There's a quote from Miller's The Dark Night Returns miniseries, that's considered a classic, which I'm assuming it's Graydon is referring to.

(And BTW Graydon am I right to assume you are referring to "the one man who beat you" quote?)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Unless it's a legal case, it's vs. Is it a legal case? Is Batman suing Superman? (Maybe then it would make some sense.)

    ReplyDelete
  56. So NOW he wants to get involved? Where was he when Zod attacked Earth in the first place? That's right, nowhere to be found.

Are we supposed to think this isn't a pretty petty reason to go after the guy who saved everybody? I mean if a new guy on the block wanted to go after the Avengers because of the Battle of New York, I'd be like "Hulk, smash." I think I just don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. To be fair we don't really know what Bruce was up to when Zod attacked. Batman doesn't really go out in public anyway, so he could have been something.

And also there is the issue that for the most part there was no fall out from Zod and Superman pretty much taking down completely half the globe. And as they were fighting they didn't seem to care or bother that the fighting wasn't contained.

Avengers made a point to contain the destruction. There was indication of a fallout with the newsreels in the end. MoS barely touched on that... so I kiiiiiiinda sorta get...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well MoS criminally misused an excellent cast (except Zod who was weak sauce and next to Russel Crowe it was watered down weak sauce) with a terrible plot, achingly bad script (I timed it Henry Cavill doesn't even speak for the first 35 minutes of the film), and a serious tonal problem. But if we're going to start pointing fingers and making Superman bleed, then I don't care what Bruce was up to. The aliens landed demanded we give them a planet (in a plot that made NO SENSE. Can you explain why they wanted to turn Earth into a desolate wasteland where they wouldn't have superpowers versus living on Earth as it is and being basically gods of a nice green happy place?) . It was pretty much all hands on deck. If you want to talk about policing the planet, you show up when there is an intergalactic invasion. Superman did everything anyone asked him to do, turn himself over etc. They still tried to kill the planet, any damage less than turning Earth into a desolate wasteland inhospitable to humans was a win. Which brings me to my next question, are we holding Affleck responsible for Bale's destruction? What is the continuum there?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think I'll start by saying that I'm pretty sure the Nolan/Bale movies don't belong in this universe and that Bale and Affleck are different versions of Bruce.

And then I'll say I can't disagree with much of what you said with respect to MoS, as it is a pretty bad movie with major plot holes because... well... Snyder...

However, I do feel the need to defend Bruce/Batman since right now we don't know what Batman's place is in the DCMU.

Batman by default is more methodical. He's a planner and likes to have all and parameters and all the information he can get before he does anything. I can see him realizing his current equipment might have not been a match for whatever the Kryptonians were doing, and I can see him being holed up in the Batcave using his satellites and collecting data figuring out a game plan before he did anything. And here comes Clark in all his Superman glory and takes Zod down.
There's also a rumor that Bruce had retired Batman during the events of MoS... So I can see him seeing Superman being a more well suited match for the Zod invasion, and since he was retired decided he wouldn't interfere. But now that everybody else is divided about Superman himself, he is willing to at least test the limitations of this guy and figure out how to take him out in case someone has to.

But let me repeat, all this speculation and rumors.
Because of that I personally don't think I can judge anything right now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, if it is a new universe, then they get to make up new rules for Batman. I wouldn't think of him as a methodical planner, but I only watch movies where he doesn't have a super genius IQ and the ability to defeat anyone even though he has no powers. Maybe in this version he'll be different.

I think you should be nice (or at least respectful) to kind aliens who save your planet, not try to hurt them. But what do I know, I think Batman would get killed in about 5 seconds if Superman actually wanted to hurt him (although why Supers would do that is beyond me as is the origin of Batman's hubris), so clearly I'm not the target audience for this movie. Probably why I'm still so confused by the premise. Oh well. Thanks for the speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well Batman is the best detective, a genius inventor and a master on martial arts. Snyder said Affleck's gonna be more like comic Batman. Imagine Arrow's Oliver, Felicity and Digg are one person: they are still not enough to be Bruce.
Apparently it's Lex Luthot who pushes Bruce into fighting Superman.
Snyder's Supes has been powered down. Over the years, Superman became one of the most iconsistent characters(power wise). He could even shoot a small copy of himself... yeah, thay happened.

This Supes can be taken down by a armored and prepared Batman. Or at least he can retain him enough.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I can see how a flashback might be appropriate for the movie, but really? Adding scenes so late in the game, doesn't inspire much confidence...

    ReplyDelete
  63. The world is suing Superman! :P

(I'm kidding... it was a bad joke... I'm sorry...)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I didn't realize it was mostly used in legal contexts, guess that explains why I've never seen it used.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I want to make a "mighty jockstrap Batman" joke but I know I shouldn't...

The Batmobile is looking nifty though!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Neat pics. Looking good.
Is that Wonder Woman dolled up with Batman at that party?
