  2. So stoked that it releases the same day as US here in Pakistan. Sadly, it will not be shown in my city, so I'll have to either take a 2 or 4 hour bus ride (depending on which city I decide to go to) to watch it. Hopefully, it's worth it.

  3. AWESOME. So, so awesome. James Spader as Ultron was simply amazing - he was a great balance between doing what he considered the right thing to do and being evil. He even had a relatively emotional scene with the twins early-ish on that was fantastic to see. Really added a lot more to his character. Spader played it magnificently.

The action sequences were pretty much non-stop but they were excellent. The Hulkbuster scene was easily my favourite. The dialogue was great and featured the humour that we've come to expect from the characters. Hawkeye's development was terrific and I thought Jeremy Renner was excellent.

Big WTF (in a good way) - they killed Quicksliver! Really wasn't expecting that - was certain that Hawkeye would die (showing us his family and then him taking a picture of them with him on the final battle pretty much locked him in to die) so when he was shielding the kid as Ultron was firing the plane's gun, I thought he'd go out a hero. But Quicksilver did (and I'm kinda glad because I actually really came to love Hawkeye during the movie) which is a shame because he (and Scarlet Witch) got some decent development, and both were played well.

The birth of Vision was a great scene, and Vision was an enjoyable character in the final hour.

My only real dislike was how out of the blue the Natasha/Banner stuff was. Though the scene between them talking about how they're both monsters was superb, it just came out of nowhere and did feel a little forced.

Also, no post credit scene? Damn it Whedon.

But seriously, so worth the money and a great way to spend 150 minutes.

  4. So I can talk spoilers here?
So Many robots and so much action! How about that death?! I thought it was unexpected :) Vision was AWESOME!!!

    I enjoyed it.

    SPOILERS:

The best part oddly enough was how into it the theatre got though. Girls were all "aww" at Captain America and Hawkeye. Bruce/Natasha got a big cheer near the end. Oh and the theatre was dead silent when Quicksilver was killed other then one girl who screamed out "Are you shitting me?!".

I hope the extended version on the DVD/Blu-ray restores the missing plot elements though. Some parts seemed jumpy. Thor's whole plot with the pool especially seemed...weird, but one of the trailers has shown that their was more to that. The original cut was over 3 hours apparently.

The trailer for Ant-Man before the film got a good reaction too.

Hawkeye is totally getting the Ultimate Hawkeye treatment. His family is going to get offed eventually.

  6. Loved it,
    Vision was worthy.
    Poor Quicksilver.
    Veronica vs Hulk was amazing.
Wanda was amazing along with the rest of the team.
I am looking forward to the new additions to the team.

  7. When they showed his body I turned to one of my friends in shock. Really expected Hawkeye to die so that was a bit of a shocker.

    ReplyDelete
  8. You got to see the Ant-Man trailer before it? Ugh. I didn't - nor did they show the Star Wars trailer. They did show the Fantastic 4 trailer though *cheers sarcastically*

    ReplyDelete
  9. with that new Avengers ending scene O can totally see
Spider-Man joining War Machine, Vision, Scarlet Witch and Falcon in CA: Civil War ! It's like SHIELD Academy on Ultimate Spider-Man animated Series :D

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, that train scene at the end was great. So simple too - just having the train fall rather than some chaotic explosion. The trailer was superb, I thought. I was already expecting it to be better than I think a lot of people originally were but the second trailer just raised my expectations.

  11. Thanks for doing this, I've been wanting to discuss the film since Thursday!

Anyway to avoid any unsuspecting readers getting spoiled I'm going to do a bit of a gap.

    SPOILERS.....SPOILERS

    HULK SIZED SPOILERS

SPOILERS AS BIG AS THOR'S ARMS

SPOILERS AS HUGE AS TONY'S EGO

    SPOILERS

Still reading? Well here by spoilers.

I loved it, seen it twice so far and will probably since it at least 2 more times at the cinema in the next few weeks.

The movie is definitely 'darker' than the first film because sad things happen but also has a nice balance of humor and action. Mostly though this is a film about characters and about their relationships with one and other and what it means to be a hero and not a monster. What it means when your job is being a superhero and you can't just clock out when things get tough.

This movie very much belongs to Clint, Natasha and Bruce. They are the heart of it, though others get their moments. Clint having a secret family and basically being an Avenger even if he isn't as strong as the others and doesn't need to prove himself is so touching. Natasha struggling against her desire for some kind of normality and her duty. Bruce finally finding a family but realising he can never truly have happiness not when the Hulk is always lurking.

The entire party scene is fantastic, getting to see the gang hang out and with people like Sam, Rhodey and Hill, so much fun. Also just seeing them work with each other in the various battles. Steve and Thor especially work well together.

    Tissues at the ready

+ Natasha talking to Bruce about what happened to her in the Red Room. God it broke my heart.

+ OK this is big spoiler. Pietro dying. That really hit me, he was just so great in the final battle and the fact that he saved Clint who was trying to save a young boy. Many tears and the acknowledge of Pietro's sacrifice by Clint giving his newborn his name was so lovely.

+ Hulk/Bruce at the end. It sucks when your favourite character is always in pain. Really sucks.

    The new characters

x The Twins are really great together and when they come over to the good side it is truly amazing.

x VISION. OK VISION IS BASICALLY MY NEW FAVOURITE CHARACTER. Holy hell. Like everything about him is amazing and HE IS WORTHY AND LOOK HE GOT A CAPE BECAUSE THOR HAS ONE. Adorable, pure, a badass. Bless you vision.

x The main man himself Ultron, oh you delightfully twisted robot. I could listen to you talk for hours.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I thought Loki was meant to be in this. That's where he disappeared to, then.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "didn't see that coming"

that line was exactly what everybody felt in that scene

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah I remember Idris Elba saying that him and Tom had filmed a scene for the film. I guess they didn't want to make the movie overly long, though frankly I could watch 4 hous of it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Saw it last night and just loved it. I will be stunned if it's not another billion dollar hit, and it should be. Kind of nice to see the few bits from the AoS tie in as well even if it is being watched out of order by us.

    ReplyDelete
  16. oh, that Spider-Man reference brought back my dissapointment after missing the scene...I wanted to believe so bad

    ReplyDelete
  17. but I'm glad he didn't, the guy really got a LOT more to do in this one, loved how he was about to shoot Quicksilver and talked to himself how no one would realize if he did kill him

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think you summed it up perfectly, brilliant, I loved the one liners as well, "No surrender! I'm surrendering". It's such a great movie.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 21:59

Supposedly his death was a case of executive meddling to spite FOX. Apparently the original script had someone else die (probably Hawkeye) but they were told to kill off Quicksilver instead.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I laughed at him as well! The bit when he rips of Andy Serkis character arm and is all like "I'm sorry" hahaah seriously and he was so sad when the Twins swapped sides and he had Natasha at his base just so he could talk to someone. Now if he wasn't so intent on destroying humans he would be a character to root for!

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's Spader. It's just impossible not to like him.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh god yeah, as soon as you saw the family and the pregant wife, I was sure it was the end of Hawkeye, and then when he ran to the kid, it was certain, and then Quicksilver saved him.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I never really cared for Hawkeye, but I really loved him in this movie (which I'm sure was Joss Whedon's intention).

Had he died, I would probably have been even more upset than I was when Quicksilver died.

    ReplyDelete
  24. it was great to finally see a robot that isn't 100% cold but pretty damn human (what was his intention, he wanted to be flesh and blood...wich was just sad when Vision got it instead of him)

I'm kinda hoping that he's not dead, we didn't see Vision kill him, just a bright light

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh god the one liners, Tony vs Hulk was pretty funny with the whole "I'm sorry", the reoccurring language Cap joke, "You didn't see that coming", Vision's "Well I was born yesterday"

    ReplyDelete
  26. LOVED it but SPOILER!!! don't read ahead if you don't want to be spoiled

    The writing:
amazing, simply amazing. I'm not talking the story around it but the character evolution the entire team goes through. There're such vital moments for each character in this movie that you realize that the Ultron plot is merely there to force the team to evolve individually.

    The acting:
Nothing new here, the cast is fantastic as always but also new additions like Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor Johnson and especially James Spader were breathtaking. One could say that a mocap performance usually can't capture an actors performance but holy hell, you saw that this was Spader, every twitch, every move. Simply brilliant

    The villain:
Ultron is not how you would expect an evil machine to be like: he's sarcastic, he's mocking others and yet is driven. I had a good chuckle at some of his lines.

    The Twists:
it was bittersweet to see Quicksilver die in his first appearance but seems to have been vital for Scarlet Witch to evolve. Weird to see Van Stucker die so quickly in the movie, thought he'd be more of a major villain. So Andy Serkis plays Black Panthers archnemisis and hell...did Ultron rip his arm off? The 3D glasses were so dark I couldn't see if there was blood but that was dark for a Disney flick. Vision, neither Jarvis nor Ultron but something entirely new....and just a badass. Loved the way he was cold and yet funny ("Look Ultron doesen't like me at all" "He despises you most").

in conclusion: best MCU movie so far, how do they manage to keep getting better? I don't know.
Unlike Avengers Assemble this one takes a lot more slow turns to focus on its characters and I really thought it did the movie well. Meeting Hawkeyes family, showing the romance between Romanoff/Banner become a moving issue for Banner (THIS is how you do romance Arrow...take note!)

and hell, Tony and Thor talking about wich of their girls is the better one (Pepper or Jane) was just hilarious, dick measuring contest in a new dimension.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:05

The DVD is meant to have an alternate ending so he may be alive. On 4chan many are suspecting the 'alternate ending' is an extension showing that he left Ultron alive.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah he was complex and like Bruce says when they think Ultron has killed JARVIS, he is full of rage which is such a human emotion. I think Ultron could pop up again, he always comes back in the comics and like you say we didn't see Vision kill him....unless I see a dead body I always hold out for a comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah I actually really liked the humour in that fake after-credits scene. I would have loved for that clip to be real.

The mid-credits scene we did get was actually very underwhelming to me. It showed us nothing we didn't already know.

Yes, Thanos is the big bad who has been pulling all the strings. Yes, he wants the infinity stones. Yes, he has a gauntlet. Yes, the Avengers will eventually meet them.

I was kinda hoping for something more instead of just Thanos again :P

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Go to Sleep!, Go to Sleep!" brilliant. And yeah the Cap joke, I loved how everyone reacted and kept going at him and then Fury teasing him on the SOB comment.

Why I prefer MArvel over DC, could you imagine Batman Vs Superman having such jokes...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Would make sense, Vision did say that he had no desire to kill Ultron. So I guess he could very well have contained his AI somewhere.

And since Spader does TV, Ultron can be in EVERY robotic body they could go ahead and use him on AoS for ratings

    ReplyDelete
  32. did Ultron rip his arm off?

HE DID! I think Serkis is meant to be in Black Panther so I'm assuming he is gonna get Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier style metal arm. Or maybe he will just deal with having only one arm.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hope that he's alive. Removing James Spader (and Ultron himself, for that matter) from the MCU would be a terrible mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The FX in that clip weren't good so I feared that it wouldn't be real but wishful thinking :/

It was, wasn't it? Just Thanos taking the gauntlet and being like "Imma step up as the big bad now..." is the same thing we got in Avengers 1. Only that, THAT scene had Alexis Denisof unlike the one we saw in 2

    ReplyDelete
  35. That's James Spader for you! I watch The Blacklist, and I could picture his character there saying those lines, even the little movements of Ultron's head were Spader like.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just interested if SHIELD is back in some way

    ReplyDelete
  37. I mean the Final scene of the actual movie... Not the credits scene (Usually scenes) Assembling the new team members... Cap saying "Avengers..." I can see Spider-Man joining as a newbie Avenger in Civil War joining Wanda, Falcon, WM and Vision :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. His character is Klaw, he'll sure as hell get a claw now ^^

I loved the 3D but the glasses were so dark that I didn't see if there was some actual blood (if there was: neat)

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's it Klaw! I couldn't see if there was blood either, they tend to avoid that. I will try to get a closer look when I see it again next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah Marvel just blend the jokes in well but still keeps the emotional impact.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Somehow, spoilers: Fury and Hill board the helicarrier in the final fight and help evacuate the flying city.

If that means that SHIELD is active again or not remains to be seen. But what I got from that scene was that all the loyal SHIELD members are back on board led by Fury/Hill (who was Starks right hand gal in Avengers 2)

No mention or sight of Coulson and his team....wich is good

    ReplyDelete
  42. I thought Hawkeye was gonna die, after seeing his family and everything I kept thinking it would be him, I was surprised when Quicksilver died.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Keep an eye out for it, that'd be kinda huge for Disney

    ReplyDelete
  44. I suspected something like that was the reason they killed Quicksilver. Where did you hear it?

I do think killing Hawkeye would have made a bigger impact, but killing Quicksilver was definitely more surprising. Still a little sad it was executive order that caused his dead though.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I read that on the imdb boards, didn't think it'd be true but it makes sense....somewhat at least.

But in all honesty: I preferred this Quicksilver to Evan Peters version, this one was scruffy, sarcastic and heroic while DoFP was just quirky

    ReplyDelete
  46. Question: There's more than one Quinjet, right? There must be. That was bugging me throughout since Coulson (I think?) has a Quinjet in AoS, so unless Hill takes it from the show when she pops up on Tuesday (before the US premiere), then there must be more than one.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hawkeye is a more major Avenger than Quicksilver so I get why they didn't kill him. Plus: he's the only one with bow/arrow. All the others are fast but Barton is unique (and gets made fun of enough :P)

I remember reading that Renner was unhappy with what little his character got to do in part 1, I'm sure he's happy now ^^

    ReplyDelete
  48. Also I loved how important it was to the Avengers to protect the civilians they tried their hardest to keep people safe and wouldn't leave the city until they were. And when Fury turned up with the big rescue plan, Pietro was in awe and Cap was like 'this is how SHIELD Is meant to be'. I cried especially wen I watched it again knowing the fate of Pietro. He would have loved being a full term superhero.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Exactly, there was impact all over the place and darkness, while at the sametime still having the humour. I mean even seeing what each one of them went through when Wanda played with their minds...

Oh and lets not forget "she's an agent, they're smaller agents".

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wonder if Coulson will appear again in the movies, kind of miss him on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I Also thought Hawkeye would Die but his death would have probably been too expectable cause we saw his family... Would have been really sad if we saw his family and that he has people who need him Safe and Then he would die Before getting back home and there would have been so much drama. Quicksilvers death sucks and he died way too early :/ can't they resurrect him like Coulson?:D

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh yeah there is more than one. Its never really stated in the film but in interviews it has mentioned that the Avengers Quinjet has been upgraded by Tony, its probably more advanced than what SHIELD has.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm not too sure if I'm hot on Spidey, I love the character but really couldn't see a high school teen (wich is what Marvel is going for) joining the Avengers. Scarlet Witch seems to be the youngest...well....minus 1 day old Vision but he doesen't count....and we shouldn't go younger than 20

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ah right.

    ReplyDelete
  55. So right, and I think it will drive Wanda to be even better. But yeah I could see Cap getting on board with a Shield that was back at "protection".

Now the question is where was the carrier mothballed, and how did he get it back (would have thought the US would have that locked down), kind of cool just to see the tech guy from Cap 2 on the command deck.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The showing of his family was the biggest signal to me that he'd die. That's a pretty common thing to use in TV/movies, so I'm glad they didn't do it.

I loved Quicksilver but don't resurrect him. The deaths have to actually mean something at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:22

The first version of the script was apparently circulating in closed circles but some spoilers leaked. A few showed up on 4chan, twitter, and various comic book forums from time to time.

The 2 major changes apparently were the death and Hulk's ending. The original script apparently had someone else die. It also apparently had Hulk shot into space.

My guess is Whedon wanted to set up Planet Hulk, but Marvel/Disney didn't want to work with Universal on it (who still owns distribution rights for Hulk solo movies).

    ReplyDelete
  58. I thought I saw Loki in the backround for a second there, when Thor was hallucinating. Maybe they cut it because it was too long, or maybe because Idris Elba spoiled it long ago :P

    ReplyDelete
  59. biggest question left open: what's Wanda going to do with IM if they ever are on the same team?

They might have fought together but that doesen't change that she still has the trauma from that three-day-Stark grenade experience (wich is why the twins chose to join HYDRA)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ultimate Spider-Man animated Series started with Peter Parker been Spidey for a year and he's still in high School... So The new Spidey will be the ultimate version?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh yeah I remember reading about Hulk being shot into space. Would have maybe preferred that to what we got in the actual movie.

I didn't really like him leaving Natasha like that. :P

    ReplyDelete
  62. That is true, won't be easy for her. I'm guessing she will be on Cap's side during Civil War.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I guess, however I'd prefer the classic version. College freshman

or bring back Maguire and have an aged and experienced Spidey (wich would be pretty darn cool because it'd tie in Spiderman 1-3)

    ReplyDelete
  64. It's been confirmed the Spider-man in the MCU will be a high school teenager, but I agree with you. I'm not sure he'll fit with the current Avengers roster.

    ReplyDelete
  65. if she appears in Civil War (speaking of WHO will be in that one? Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, WS and Iron Man are confirmed. I guess we can scratch the Hulk since AoU ended with him purposefully leaving the team and Thor. But what about Warmachine, Vision, SW, Nick Fury, Hill?)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just keep thinking about what if scenarios :/ If there'd be somebody rose with superspeed he could have taken the Bullets out and patched him up Quickly and let Quicksilvers fast metabolism do the rest he might have survived or what if he had some super bulletproof vest on that stops even those Big minigun bullets...

    ReplyDelete
  67. For the first time I actually hope that they cast out of the characters age range, with 16 you`re still pretty much a child actor and we know that these have often very unbalanced performances

    ReplyDelete
  68. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:34

SW was confirmed for Civil War a few days ago.
An unconfirmed rumor suggests that Vision is also in.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I also read the final scene was supposed to include Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel as a new member. They even shot the sides for it, which they used for Scarlet Witch instead.

I'm kind of happy they didn't include her though. It wouldn't have made sense to randomly include her in that final scene without properly introducing her first.

    ReplyDelete
  70. question is: when will they kill his family? Civil War? Or a Hawkeye solo movie (wich I would totally condone after this one)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:36

Ah yes! I remember hearing about that.

Supposedly the original script introduced her during the film in a small role. So she'd meet the team at some point before that.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Should we basically retitle Cap3 into Avengers 2.5?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I really hope Vision is in it because I need more of that character. I guess War Machine has to be in it because Tony is going to need some allies and Rhodey would side with him. Fury and Hill seem a given as well.

Mind you I think some of these appearances won't be huge roles otherwise it really would be Avengers 2.5 and various Marvel people have started its still very much Cap's movie.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah AoS has shown that there's plenty of Quinnjets.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:43

I could see it being Civil War. Perhaps it being the event that causes Hawkeye to turn on Cap. Have Hawkeye blame the Avengers for it (the people the team loves get hurt) and join Tony's side to take down the team.

By the end of the film, it's revealed that the villain organised it on purpose to make him join Tony's side.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ever since Winter Soldier the Cap franchise seemed to be less about Cap and more about team-ups. The second one was pretty much "Captain America & Black Widow: Smashin' things 'n bustin' HYDRA kings"

I'm actually guessing that Tony won't be much in it though, max a few straight in-suit shots (to shoot back-to-back quickly) and two court scenes. RDJ agreed to do this one way too easily

    ReplyDelete
  77. Good theory, Hawkeye seemed to be the teams glue that keeps them together so that would be effective.

Guess the villain is Daniel Bruhls character?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:45

Supposedly it's nolonger being referred to internally as Captain America 3. It's just being called 'Civil War' now. If that's just for production or they actually are changing the name is yet to be determined.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That would have made sense. I also read she was called Ms Marvel in the script so I guess she would have become Captain Marvel in her solo movie.

I'm still glad they decided to wait and introduce her in het solo movie. Most people don't know her and introducing her

    ReplyDelete
  80. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:48

Yeah. Leaks suggest he's Baron Zemo and working with Crossbones.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 22:52

Yep. Ms Marvel I believe will go to Kamala Khan eventually. Probably whenever they decide to do a Young Avengers film. Even though she wasn't on the team in the comics, with her popularity I can see them including her.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well if the rumours are to be believed they're already working on bringing Ms Marvel/Kamala Khan to the MCU. John Ridley's secret project is supposedly a Ms Marvel TV show for ABC.

I love Kamala, so I would love to see her in the MCU eventually, but I'm not sure how it'll work without already having established Captain Marvel in the MCU.

I could see her on the Young Avengers as well though. She's supposedly going to be on the team in the comics after the whole Secret Wars event

    ReplyDelete
  83. Loved it. Gutted about Pietro though. Any chance that he maybe could come back? I mean there are options Tahiti, Dr Cho's pod and speedster healing.

    ReplyDelete
  84. damn, Id to have to do that for a movie, as not many are worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  85. While it would be incredibly sad, I can see it going this way.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Loved it. I actually never saw any of the Iron Man, Thor or Captain America, and Agents of SHIELD is not on my DVR list, so I was kinda lost to some references, but still, really enjoyable.
The thing is, Joss Whedon is a genius and if you kind of know his work, you kinda see him everywhere, so I wonder how the next two are gonna be.

As for the film itself, the cast is awesome ( no surprise to that ) and Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor Johnson are nice additions to the mix. Everybody seems to be having fun and that's nice to see.

Cool film. It's a pleasure to see where the $300M went and...yeah, pretty cool flick.

8/10, and remember I am not a Marvel fan so I don't know how it fits with everything you guys have been following.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Christopher DeBono25 April 2015 at 23:13

I saw that rumor, I don't think it's true though personally. It seems too early for her just yet. She's probably better after Infinity War.

I think we are going to see some younger superheroes emerge though starting with Spider-Man. Nova (Sam Alexander) and Kamala I'm certain will show up eventually. I believe Cassie is meant to be in Ant-Man too so they're working up to Stature.

I really want them to introduce Hulkling and Wiccan. However we'd need a time jump for Wiccan.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Agreed. I hope they at least cast someone in their twenties. Maybe someone who's between 21 and 24-ish?

However, they want an actor who can grow in the role and stay in high school for a while so maybe they will go with an actual teenager..

    ReplyDelete
  89. Tahiti is gone short of killing a Kree.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Uhm, there was something after the credits...well, after the cast presentation. The glove thing? I guess it's important for the follow up.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Actually, when we saw his wife was Linda Cardellini, I knew he was not going to die. If it had been some fresh girl we kind of know but don't really know where from, then yeah, his death would have been inevitable to me.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Really, his family is supposed to die at some point? Damn, HARD !

  93. I'm just afraid that they'll dispose of Zemo quickly the way they did with Van Stucker

  94. Saw movie on Thursday and just yesterday Captain America: The Winter Solider aired again on TV. Such action packed weekend for me this was :)

Gotta say, Hawkeye got redeemed big time in this movie! first movie I thought he's ok, in this I got worried when he got hurt at the beginning (I was like "oh no...poor Jeremy!"), but then he had a lot of action, quite a bit was revealed on him (nice family), love his talk to Wanda, love him trying to save the kid, lots of action & heroics he really got redeemed in this and absolutely showed his importance!

~speaking of the guy, I'm not shipping but anybody else love the Clint & Natasha you know being worried of each other? so very, very cute!

On another note - yeah, I'm sorry I wasn't loving the romance between Natasha & Bruce. I didn't hate the scenes, but it rather seemed out of place, out of the blue, kinda inappropriate (and not because he turns into a big green giant XD)...and must confess when Pepper and Jane were mentioned I honestly wondered about Betty lol I don't mind a Natasha/Bruce friendship but I don't think romance is the way to go.

Vision was pretty cool wasn't he? :)

however, the new character in the movie that is my favorite is Scarlet Witch. I really enjoyed Quicksilver, but my gosh what a BADASS! hell, I even loved her when she was in Ultron's team, she just was so fascinating to me both character and powers, I loved that accent and her look. She was actually, to me, more intimidating than Ultron himself! so while sucks Quicksilver goes (but at least he had quite a few scenes and went in a very heroic way), but when Cap & Natasha revealed the new team: oh heck yeah!!!

kinda funny how when I saw the first Avengers Iron Man was absolute my favorite (I really loved the first Iron Man and thought him so darn cool), but then this comes after Cap 2 and my focus rather shifts to Captain America ;) and I think Cap fights best in his second solo movie, but that's not to say he was bad in this because he was awesome! he was rather fierce and fearless and so freaking awesome when fighting Ultron and his drones, I'm glad they improved his fighting from the first Avengers movie, I love that he's still standing up to what he believes in and of course I love the Cap/Widow team moments!! and also, you know Cap/Thor was pretty great.

Natasha/Black Widow - well, I may not love the Bruce um romance but I did love we got to discover more of her past! and yeah, her confession to Bruce (ok maybe that scene is the exception of their interaction lol) was so darn heartbreaking wasn't it? I love that we're learning more and more on Natasha and she really has grown on me in a major, major way since The Avengers. Love her! quite a bit of her background & a lot of badassry!

when the big green guy goes crazy and cause destruction
    "Who you gonna call?" HULKBUSTER!!

seriously though, it's not exactly one of my most favorite parts but it was pretty darn cool that's for sure. Team's fighting in the end with Scarlet Witch, Vision, Quicksilver in the team now that was fantastic wasn't it?

was really cool seeing the Helicarrier again!

and yes, I'm ranting so gonna stop now. I keep feeling I need to see that movie again because there was just so much going on lol we'll see! I think Cap 2 gets the perfect grade for it really is perfect, and I really enjoyed this so it gets "great" (hell, REALLY great!)

P.S. - usually I'm not into Thor (not watched the movies) but he was actually really enjoyable in this.

  95. Was super upset at Pietro's death, too. But I've read theories online that Wanda might be in Doctor Strange and they'll try to ressurect him. I would really hate to lose Quicksilver after one appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I also don't think it's true. I agree it's way too early to introduce her. Same goes for Wiccan.

I do think we need another teenage Avenger after Spidey is introduced though. Looking at the current Marvel release schedule I think maybe they'll introduce one in another hero's movie. Maybe Nova in the second Guardians movie or something like that?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I vaguely recalled that but Coulson did offer it to Ward ( which was probably a bluff I guess) which was why I wondered if it was still an option.

    ReplyDelete
  98. He offered the memory replacement procedure, the GH 325 back from the dead medicine is gone since the episode where Skye was saved.

  99. 2-4 hours bus ride?!?! Gee, that´s dedication! Marvel should make you Fan of the Month or something. I live in Germany, the nearest cinema is a 4 min tram ride away and I will never ever be annoyed again, because the movie theater makes me come half an hour early to pick up my reserved tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I was very surprised that they killed off Quicksilver, but also thought having Vision save Scarlet Witch could be a bit of foreshadowing and he is a "biological android". The team creation of Avengers West Coast was also cool, so they can do another movie or two without quite as many *BIG* names. Overall I really loved the movie and thought James Spader was excellent as Ultron, as was Paul Bettany as Jarvis/Vision.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oh okay, I remember now. Season 1 is a bit of a vague blur for me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Could this all be related to the mysterious Theta Protocol? Also, if 'real shield' can hide an aircraft carrier, then Fury can hide a Helicarrier unless they're supposed to be the same, and it's hard to tell due to 'budgetary differences'.

Why do I have this feeling that the movie will make more sense to those of us who watch AOS than those who don’t? I'm not going to get to actually watch the movie on till Friday morning but I've given up on not being spoiled.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I wonder if that is the plan to especially after hearing some of Joss' recent rants about Coulson's resurrection (that he participated in). His phrasing makes me wonder if he's really talking about another character that he killed off and the Marvel powers that be are planning to bring back anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I thought it was a meh movie. A lot of fun sure, but the novelty of seeing them all together had worn off. Still worth watching once.

  106. Loved the film and I'm going back to see it soon in 3D. I am curious to see how AoS will deal with the aftermath of the film and the New Avengers Academy.

  107. AMAZING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but DAMN IT!!!!! I HATE THE BRUCE AND NATASHA ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hated that Pietro died!!!!!!!!!!! James Spader ROCKED his role as Ultron out of the park!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. isn't there one with Thanos?

    ReplyDelete
  109. in the beginning Strucker was killed, so is List the last head of Hydra?

  110. Christopher DeBono26 April 2015 at 04:45

I believe James Gunn nipped the Nova idea in GOTG 2 already. My guess though is the Nova Corps will be destroyed in GOTG 2 when Thanos comes for the Infinity Stone. Leading to the helmet arriving on Earth in Phase 4 for a Nova movie.

  111. were you mad when they cut off Steve saying "Avengers Assemble"? i was SO mad!!! LOL, when do you think we'll get it, it was a really good tease

    ReplyDelete
  112. so the coming back to life TAHITI part is gone? yeah that makes sense, i just REALLY want Pietro back, so go and kill a Kree and bring him back!!!! LOL

  113. where's that "go to sleep" quote?

    ReplyDelete
  114. You'll know it, I shll not spoil!

    ReplyDelete
  115. no i saw the movie but i don't remembner that

    ReplyDelete
  116. Still considering everything about it. I really enjoyed it. The action scenes were awesome, and there were a hell of a lot of them. Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver were amazing. I may not be as enamored with the Vision as everyone else, but he was pretty solid and the way they brought him in was something I didn't expect and was well done.

As for the death, it was the one I was calling/expecting it to be. They did do a lot to make us think that it was going to be a different character, which was my second thought on who would die (since so many articles said an Avenger would die).

I'm curious if we'll get to see a bit of this new team in Civil War.

James Spader did a brilliant job on Ultron, and he was a bit funnier than I was expecting. Still, I wasn't as compelled by him as a villain like I was with Loki (and I am by no means Loki fanatic, like a lot of people seem to be).

Great movie though, Top 5 I think out of all the Marvel movies. I think Avengers, Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy were a bit better though.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Its when Hulkbuster Tony is fighting Hulk and he keeps whacking his head to try and knock Hulk out.

    ReplyDelete
  118. ohhh! i didnt hear him say that, i heard "i'm sorry" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  119. do you think Hill will come and tell Coulson about Strucker?

    ReplyDelete
  120. who's Serkis? damn i barely remmber the movie and i just saw it LOL

    ReplyDelete
  121. It's ironic how the movie premieres in my country two days before the US premiere, but only in ONE city.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Andy Serkis character was named Klaw and he is the man that the Twins and Ultron visited to get the vibranium and then Ultron accidentally ripped his arm off.

    ReplyDelete
  123. remember the Twins and Ultron getting the Vibranium but not an INKLING of Serkis LOL

    ReplyDelete
  124. How is Captain America in the film?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Sounds more tragic than ironic.... Ouch!

    ReplyDelete
  126. In the first Avengers movie he wasn't such a great character as others avengers, but in The Winter Soldier he was much better. My question is that if in this film he is more similar to the first Avengers or to The Winter Soldier

    ReplyDelete
  127. I mean if he has a better role than in the first avengers movie.

    ReplyDelete
  128. In the Hulk Vs Veronica fight

    ReplyDelete
  129. I think it's going to be the other way around. Chronologically, it looks like episode 2.19 takes place before the movie. So I feel like Coulson is going to be giving Maria the Intel which has been pointed out by many people will make things weird for those that have already seen the movie. But that may be the plan because now you're going to want to watch the movie over again after seeing the AOS episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  130. definitely Winter Soldier with all he's been through

    ReplyDelete
  131. I also thought the death of her brother may bring her closer to the person who saved her life quicker... ie. The Vision

    ReplyDelete
  132. oh so the intel Hill has about Strucker and the Twins is from COULSON?

    ReplyDelete
  133. We won't know for sure until Tuesday, but that seems highly likely. That would also prove once and for all that the TV show does affect the movies and it is one universe.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I keep so, I loved that they had a little moment and Wanda did seem intrigued by Vision when he came to life.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Me too double feature Thursday afternoon !

    ReplyDelete
  136. that would be great, really REALLY great!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. The Hulk fight.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I imagine there'll be some feedback, whether we see it or not is another question. To me is List still on the loose?

    ReplyDelete
  139. It was what SHIELD was meant to be, I loved that part the most. Despite the Hydra mess and betrayals in the show, AoS/Fury/Coulson have made me a believer in SHIELD.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I don't know how I feel about that. I would still like this movie to be about Cap but with all the casts lately, it's becoming an ensemble and a suspiciously Avengers sequel more than it is a Captain America.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It wouldn't surprise me if Coulson has kept in touch with Fury this whole time. If Gonzalez's ship is a helicarrier (I honestly don't think it is) Coulson might get all of SHIELD back under his control that he'd give it to Fury. I noticed the SHIELD emblem on Maria's uniform in those rescue scene, it was the SHIELD eagle I've grown to love. The question is, is Fury finally back to the land of the living, taking command of SHIELD? I think so, especially if SHIELD is still a player in CA:CW.

    ReplyDelete
  142. If you watch AoS, some things the movie can't waste time explaining might become clear. AoS is like extensive DVD bonus material.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I loved Serkis. He did a mean South African accent. I was impressed, since Hollywood can't seem to get that right.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Gonzales carrier is just a Carrier, it doesn't have the split deck design of either the original or the Insight carriers, but yeah I really think there's been more contact than just Coulson to Hill. I'm guessing that the resources that Other Shield has been tracking were for the new Avengers base (since to me Stark wasn't aware of it). Wonder if it is that and Coulson turns round and says he was supporting the Avengers what the reaction will be? Or will they somehow end up blaming Coulson for the Helicarrier still being operational (that's still bugging me)

Can't see Fury taking back Shield soon, you'd have to have him come back to the show (and most likely for more than the Season 1 Finale to talk about everything. Maybe he'll operate a Shield like group but I'd say for now the AoS Shield and Fury's operation will stay separate.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I think so. Coulson's currently trying to track Strucker and List. I think he'll go after List and since he can't be in two place at once, he will give Maria intel on Strucker and the Avengers will pursue him in stead as seen in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  146. He was so great. I'm glad they got James Spader for the role.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I was surprised at Strucker's quick end. He's like a foot note on The twin's origin story.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Historical_Materialist26 April 2015 at 20:14

Captain America's role is about the same as the first one. He does have one of the first lines (third really) and the last line of the movie. He performs some pretty impressive strength and acrobatic feats and is the leader of the team. Unfortunately however, he's also the comedic punching bag throughout the movie with a running gag coming up throughout the film at his expense. He's basically made fun of throughout the movie for his apple-pie-ness.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I agree with you Bradley, amazing movie in every single word possible.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I watched yesterday and it's amazing. I think this movie is more mature, big and incredible than the first one. I love the newcorners Vision (man he is incredible), Scarlet Witch (I love her) and Quicksilver is great. The original heroes are great in this one too, man Cap, Thor and Hulk are badass as usual, Hawkeye is a really great surprise this time, Iron Man is excellent and Ultron, god Ultron is incredible. Black Widow is badass in this one and I like her involvement with Banner.

Age of Ultron is massive, epic blockbuster in large scale, but the movie never forget that the characters is the really matters at the end.

Go see the movie, is remarkable.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I actually liked that, kinda like a last joke to get in ^^

    ReplyDelete
  152. i hope so, because now that i think about it we didn't ACTUALLY see how The Avengers knew where Strucker was, we just saw them already on the mission, so it's not THAT farfetched

    ReplyDelete
  153. he must be right? he wasn't with Strucker, so maybe he's the last Head of Hydra?

    ReplyDelete
  154. true LOL but do you think we'll ever hear it

    ReplyDelete
  155. Banner/Widow scenes were on the creepy side. final battle they also underused their big gun in the hulk.

    ReplyDelete
  156. it was like the scene were they focus the shot on thor putting his hammer down and moments later having Vison pick it up to show hes not a treat.
Joss did the reverse to it with HE and the QS scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Went to see it today and I loved it. Spader was brilliant as Ultron. I love the newcomers especially Scarlet Witch. Can't wait to see the next movie.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I really liked it! Although while watching I did felt like I had just jumped into a moving train, there was so much happening that I want to go watch it again this week. Now here are some of my thoughts.

+ I really liked the team, I think they worked very well together, even when they weren't on the same side. I could definitely see shades of Civil War.
+ Especial mentions to Hawkeye, who was a focal point for the whole movie and rose to the occasion. Even if his secret family story line come out of nowhere. The actors sold it.
+ Bruce/Hulk and Natasha were great. I love them together, just wish we could have seen more before, maybe in another movie, so that it could have been more fluid and natural during the movie.
+ The new additions were so refreshing, Wanda and Pietro did a great job, despite not having many lines or screen time. And Wanda's power set was incredible, Joss Whedon finally got to play with the Phoenix.
+ Vision was incredible, so endearing. You can't possibly not trust or like the guy. I did hope they had used his phasing power more,

    - My biggest complaint was that the movie was too crowed, too many things and characters going at the same time, we almost hadn't any time to breathe. The pacing was too rushed, they just needed more time for things to seem more organic. Maybe a 4 hour movie next time. ;)
    - Pietro's death. It felt tacked on and since we didn't really had spent much time with him, it lacked emotional connection for the scene to really be effective.
    - As for the other twin, despite loving Wanda's power set, I found it a shame that they didn't introduced real magic to the MCU (which now I'm pretty sure they wont). I think it would have made the universe more complex and added a new dimension to the origins of powers in the movies.
    - Tony Stark was so unlikable through out the movie. He's always a jerk, but usually he has a charming quality to him and his banter. But this time I couldn't see it.

This is basically it. I do think the movie needs to be seen more than once to get the whole experience, so that's what I'm planning to do and what I think many people will too, which in itself is already a huge win for Marvel.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I didn't know about this 3 hours original cut, it does make a lot of sense, the movie really felt like it was missing some scenes. When Thor appeared out of nowhere, after that quick shot with him in the cave, with all the answers to the universe! XD I almost laughed at how random it felt.

    ReplyDelete
  160. The Ultron humor threw me off a bit, I felt it might have been a little too much. Sometimes he was so menacing, but then he would make a funny remark and the edge would be completely gone. I wouldn't want him to be Ronan type serious, but maybe not have so much sass.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Awesome movie, but there are still a lot to see. Interesting Easter eggs were put in there.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Loved it too! Especially the small Hydra crossover with the dude from the base with Bakshi. Don't remember his name, but that was a great touch.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Dr. List? That and the guy on the Helicarrier that was tied back tothe laucnch commander in TWS. There was loads of Easter Eggs

    ReplyDelete
  164. I loved the TWS guy! His scene actually really resonated with me in TWS, so I was really really happy to see him back. Like, cheered in the theater with the other people happy.

    ReplyDelete
  165. It's kind of asume whenthey do that alright. You weren't the only one I can tell you. I just loved the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Thanks ivan!

    ReplyDelete
  167. THAT'S why the guy on the Hellicarrier was familiar LOL

  170. There was a post-credits scene, they just moved it to mid-credits to throw us off.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Great movie!!! The movie captivated me from the first second. It had edge, emotions, power, twists and great one liners.
    - Probably my only bad remark: Bruce saving Natasha in that finale battle. I mean she is our only female Avenger and they take her out this way. I was like come on.
    - Most funny moment: That moment during the big fight when Quicksilver made fun of Hawkeye and he wanted to shoot him. Lmfao.
*runner up: The As trying to lift Thor's hammer and C. America slightly moving it. *Not Worthy! Evil laugh!!!!*
    - Scene Stealer: WANDA turning on her Avenger mode after Hawkeye's pep talk. SOOOO HOT!
    - Best fight: Iron Man and Veroniva vs Hulk
    - Most emotional scene: Natasha confessing Bruce she couldn't have children. I mean they are such a perfect pairing he who is the monster on the outside and she who has hee inner monsters. Earthshaking.
    - Biggest surprise: The floating island! Really didn't saw it coming.
    - Personal ship rising: Steve and Wanda! Even though it seems like she has the hots for The Vision.
    - Best Freaking Cameo ever: Peggy appearing in Steve's dream. My heart went boom boom boom!

    ReplyDelete
  172. I haven't seen the movie yet but I just read Joss Whedon deleted his Twitter because of the backlash of what he did with Black Widow. What the duck happened?
