Law and Order Special Victims Unit - Devastating Story - Review

The only thing worse than a girl getting raped is a girl getting forced into crying rape. That is what happen to Heather in this case. She was your typical college student, that went out on a date with a popular hockey player. When he brought Heather back to his frat house they started to drink and make out, that's the last thing Heather remembers. When she woke up and tried to leave, his frat brothers were throwing beer cans and saying obscene language to Heather.

The next day Heather told her Professor that she thinks that she was assaulted.  Professor Dillon told Heather that after she past out she probemly was ganged raped.  Professor Dillon pushed Heather into going to the pressed and talking about it. The problem was, she really didn't remember what happen that night. So she just made up a story for national TV. Heather said that he took her into his bedroom and three of his friends attacked her. They pinned her down and took turns rapping, then sodomizing her. Heather said when they were finished doing that, they started using a hockey stick to rape her. Heather said all four boys took turns with her but it was fuzzy and she was positive that they all raped her.

What I don't understand, if  Professor Dillon wanted to made a stand against the rape crisis she shouldn't have had Heather lie about being ganged raped. All Heather wanted was to get justice, and not have to go to school everyday and see her rapist. But thanks to Professor Dillon, Heather will never get justice. Heather will never a chance to tell the truth in open court.

Like  Detective Benson said If Professor Dillon wanted to change rape culture than she did, she set the clock back 30 years.

  1. It seems the show wants to focus on coed sex as this is the second show on that same college with that same dean. The first was better though misguided. It brings a porn star on the campus and argues for her No can not mean No and the Dean does nothing to help as the girl quits and goes back to porn where no means no. In this episode, they went with the idea that Frats in general are notorious for their abusive behavior of women: the walk of shame. The fact the accusation fell apart so rapidly changed the story focus a defense of the Dean from episode one in contrast with the Professor not in Episode One. Could the professor have been hired to advocate where the Dean could not? Perhaps but again the show ends with the police asking the University to do what they can not and punish the rapist. If you think about it the logical third part to this story line will be to rape either a frat advisor or have an advisor rape his Sorority, then see if the Dean will act appropriately, either that or rape the Dean's daughter and see what happens when it is closer to home.

Personally, do not think the show recognizes how many cam models go to college or they would have touched on that or how many actual rapists not date rapist permeate campus, no need to look for angles on the subject. Security on campuses is always an issue and students on federally supported institutions are not allowed guns to protect themselves yet but that is coming in some parts for this reason. Had the porn star been a cam model they could have had 2 good shows there, perhaps one where she is attacked on one where it becomes apparent these girls all work together, but for who? Maybe one day they will plug into the internet or go to a college and learn what more involved story there are to be written.

  2. This episode strongly stood out to me this season. There are tons of different rape cases and this one was definitely breath taking. She told the wrong story at first and that caused the guy who really truly raped her to get away and that broke my heart.
