  7. Since you said last 10 years meaning 2005-2015 I'd say Scandal, The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Desperate Housewives, Under The Dome, Empire, Two and a HalfMen, The Big Bang Theory, Grey Anatomy, Lost, Breaking Bad, Ncis Franchise, Person Of Interest, Glee, Bones, Modern Family, Gossip Girl, 90210, The Vampire Diaries, Csi, Scorpion, Once Upon A a Time, How I met Your Mother, Law and Order SVU, Arrow, The Flash, Chicago Fire, and The Blacklist. These are the only shows I can think of.... Oh yea and Spongebob

  8. Lost, even though I never seen it, and Person of Interest.

  9. To be honest i Would say all of them.

  10. Greys! They had a couple of bumpy seasons (talking to you number 6 and 2nd half of 7)

    Big Bang and Modern Family.

NCIS even though I stopped watching ages ago.

    Smallville.

  11. For me PERSONALLY the biggest shows have been: Revenge, Scandal, OUAT, Game of Thrones, The good wife, the walking dead, glee,
How to get away with murder, Lost

    ReplyDelete
  12. Depends what you'd define as "biggest" but you'd have to go for Game of Thrones. That really has taken the world by storm like nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The ones I love(d) more and come to mind right now are: Castle, HIMYM, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Bones, POI, Criminal Minds and a few more...

    ReplyDelete
  14. Empire is pretty hot for nowadays TV landscape, but nothing can match the cultural impact of Lost; for instance, it was the reason SpoilerTV was created, and so many other websites focused on the show, theories and ratings. It put so many stuff on the map that it is impossible to ignore.

Game of Thrones may come in second in terms of worldwide popularity and cultural impact, but Lost still holds the crown.

The Walking Dead, TBBT and House are all examples of pretty big shows but that lags behind Lost and Game of Thrones in terms of worldwide cultural impact.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Other - BONES

After 10 seasons it's still a great show with steady ratings. It's moved around on the schedule to many times, yet the fans follow it wherever it goes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lost
    Desperate Housewives
    The Big Bang Theory
    The Walking Dead
    Empire

  17. I do not know what you mean by biggest really - biggest audience, "biggest" and best stories, biggest fan base, biggest casts... or other
    but I voted for
    1. HOUSE MD, which was a big hit (a lot thanks to the great Hugh Laurie, but also as an interesting adaptation of the Sherlock-Watson (House-Wilson) story/dynamic.
    2. NCIS, which is one of the most viewed crime shows in the world, with a large audience, and which is one of the longest.running shows on air currently.
    3. OTHER - I consider also E.R., CRIMINAL MINDS, CASTLE, DEXTER, HIMYM, CSI, NCIS:LA, and LOST, GLEE, TBBT, BREAKING BAD, GREYS ANATOMY all to have had a big following In their own genre and/or made lots of headlines with what they did.

I may not have watched all those shows (weekly), but those I consider to be the big ones that are well known. because even if you did not watch those shows, you have heard of them.

I really do no understand the "question". So I find it hard to "answer" it. As "big" is such a loose term, and many people do not like or follow the biggest hits (biggest in fan following, or viewer numbers, or episode numbers)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Desperate Housewives.LOST,The Walking Dead,Breaking Bad,Grey's Anatomy & Game of Thrones.

  25. Breaking Bad, TBBT, Desperate Housewives, House. It's too early to tell for Empre. Writers can still screw up big time next season and it's all over.

  33. Loaded question... depends on the criteria... and it'll be a long list either way. TV has been really great in the last decade.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lost, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Empire.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lost, Grey's, House and NCIS .

I'll add Criminal Minds, CSI (Vegas and NY),The Mentalist, Law & Order (SVU and CI), Dexter and Fringe .

    ReplyDelete
  36. so many not listed here, NCIS CSI, Everyone loves Raymond, smallville on and on and on

    ReplyDelete
  37. I voted for The Big Bang Theory, LOST and Breaking Bad from the list. Not on the list, I would probably add Supernatural and Sherlock, both of which have been huge in their own right.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The West Wing, House, NCIS

Can't believe this poll left out The West Wing (which ended in 2006, so still within the last 10 years). One of the best dramatic television shows in history. Great story-telling, awesome kickass writing (during the Sorkin years especially). The episode 'Two Cathedrals' is still one of the best hours of television history.

House, was a pseudo-modernization of Sherlock Holmes. While House wasn't Sherlock, the character, as well as his traits, best friend, even his residence was heavily inspired by Sherlock Holmes. Who knew that a misanthropic, pill-popping drug addict could be so lovable?

NCIS may have lost a bit of steam in recent years, but in my opinion still going strong. Must be doing something right to consistently end up one of the "Top Dramas on TV", and going into it's 13th year (if renewed), still holding high ratings and number of viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The West Wing will always be one of my favorite shows. I loved the rapid fire dialogue.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Season 1 heroes and Prison break were big ther other seasons dipped in the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Agree with your Sopranos.

    ReplyDelete
  42. NCIS, even after 12 years its still a big ratings draw card.
Lost and The Sopranos still love to binge watch these series.

    ReplyDelete
  43. These might not be the “biggest” shows for me personally, just the ones that I think had the biggest impact on the TV industry and changed the type of shows we started getting: Lost, the Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Arrow, The Walking Dead, and House. I’d probably add Supernatural and Mad Men because without those two show CW & AMC might not have made it long enough to spawn some of the other great shows. Most of the rest of these, although I like some of them and they may have had big ratings, are pretty standard procedurals, soaps, or sitcoms with big ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Limiting myself to 5 in total....
Voted: Walking Dead, Big Bang Theory
Other: Person of Interest, The Blacklist, Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  45. I really really like Desperate Housewives and Empire, although they´re not that special to me, but they´re really well written

    ReplyDelete
  46. Modern Family? I don't know anyone who watches that show.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Biggest in what way? Cause I don't see anything special about shows form the list

    ReplyDelete
  48. Battlestar Galactica, Lost, House, Walking Dead
Maybe Once upon a time for originality and creativity.

    ReplyDelete
  49. LOST all the way!
    Grey's Anatomy
    The Walking Dead
    Breaking Bad
    Desperate Housewives

    and more

    ReplyDelete
  50. voted for 3 shows above but would add Bones I mean it has lasted a decade so got to give the nod to longevity and the other show I'd add as the biggest show for me personally in the last 10 years Castle

    ReplyDelete
  51. Lost, TWD, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 5 series that changed/raised the TV standard and/or put network(s)/channel(s) on the "map":
    1) "24" - before "Empire Records" there was "CTU" (Counter Terrorist Unit). Before Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard) there was...........................Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). "24" is and shall always be FOX's very first "mega - hit" (X - Files was before the FOX channel started)!
    2) "The Walking Dead" - before "TWD" who even heard of AMC? Who knew a series based on a comic book series would still be a "mega - hit" 5 years later!
    3) "The Shield" - before "SAM CRO" there was the "Strike Team". When it comes to "villains we love to hate" Clay Morrow raised the FX standard, but Vic Mackey was the first to start it.
    4) "The Sopranos" - the series that redefined the standards for "TV Drama Series" and made HBO the "Undisputed World Champion" of TV series award nominations and wins (HBO has won the most TV awards for the last 20 years). After "The Sopranos" went off the question was what would HBO do next that would meet the standard and success of "The Sopranos"? And then................................................
    5) "Game of Thrones" - ........................George R. R. Martin, the Red Wedding, White Walkers, Dothraki (as a language you can learn to speak..............just like Klingon, seriously), and the "Last Targaryen" later we have the "crown jewel" of the "Undisputed World Champion of Television" aka HBO.......................GAME OF THRONES, nuff said!
    Nobody 4 LATER!!!

  53. Breaking Bad and House.
    Others: Dexter, Criminal Minds, Psych.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm surprised Game of Thrones is not up there... :/

    ReplyDelete
  55. We were asked 'biggest shows', not your favourites. Most of your examples aren't big shows.

    ReplyDelete
  56. No other show has changed the shape of television as much as Lost did in the past decade. So I'm very sure where my vote will go.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Immabaritonehoney27 March 2015 at 17:53

    Game Of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  58. Clearly Hannibal and Breaking Bad - Lost is a joke

    ReplyDelete
  59. How is Game of Thrones not here? It is the very best

    ReplyDelete
  60. Farewell Parks and Rec27 March 2015 at 20:36

    It depends on the criteria:

Breakout Ratings - Walking Dead, Desperate Housewives and Empire
Sitcom landscape - TBBT and Modern Family
    Consistency - Grey's and NCIS
Buzz - Lost and Breaking Bad

I'm picking Lost as the biggest show of the last 10 years, though, the ones who witnessed Lost mania will agree with me. I see Walking Dead breaking records and I saw the Breaking Bad phenomenon close to the finale, but Lost hit heights no show in the 00s could do. Friends and Seinfeld will fight forever to be the show of the 90s, Lost has no competitor.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Farewell Parks and Rec27 March 2015 at 20:42

I must add something: Game of Thrones, like Walking Dead, had fanbases built before their launchings.

Lost is an original story, making its impact even bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Every one loved Lost, except for that ending, TWD and Breaking Bad are great shows, and all of my friends were always talking about Empire

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lost, Greys and DH are the 3 biggest reasons I'm so addicted to TV today. Thank you, 2004. What a great year for TV you were.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Dude, you have CW shows in there. They have an extremely small viewership. Shows like The Walking Dead, LOST, Two and a Half Men, yeah, they're without a doubt big shows, marketed all over the world to millions. Shows like Supernatural, Gossip Girl and Under the Dome? Most people don't even know those shows exist, much-less them having the viewership to be considered 'big'.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, One Tree Hill, Castle

    ReplyDelete
  66. Viewership has nothing to do with a show being big or not. CW is highly known and most certainly is big. CW has international fans that can watch episodes online. Some shows may be bigger than one another but just because CW averages 1 or 2 million viewers (which is live) an Episode doesn't mean they're shows aren't valuabe in being big.

    ReplyDelete
  67. DH, Greys and Lost

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'd say it's none of the above cause Game of Thrones has become a worldwide phenom like no other show before...yes not even Lost, Breaking Bad or the X-Files managed this sort of popularity. As a Srilankan now living in the States, HIMYM was much bigger outside the US than any of the shows on the list barring Lost & House.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think almost 10 years ago, CSI was on we could call the best moment of the serie. With Tarantino's episode, the drama and the innovation of that amazing criminal series with Grisson, Catherine and others :) Miss CSI. But in this main time I freaked out with House MD, and saw Greys Anatomy for the first time and Shonda become my idol when you talk about open TV series.
