ABC sitcoms are my obsession! The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, and Fresh off the Boat are my faves, so its hard not to want to pick the entire casts of all these shows.

  7. I'm surprised no one's voting for Jeff Garlin—imo he's the best part of The Goldbergs,

  8. Ty Burrell, Patricia Heaton, Ed ONeil, Neil Flynn, and Eden Sher!

  9. Other: Ariel Winter (Alex from Modern Family) - she does such a great job of turning what could have been the least likable character on the show into the most likable (I love her sarcastic ways, even if we haven't seen as much of that this season, and she's also the best character when things turn less comedic, like in "Under Pressure" last year).

  11. Most of my votes are from the Modern Family cast it's because they are hilarious especially Sophia I feel like I connect more with her since we're both from Colombia but other than that Ty Buell is one of the people who make Modern family great also Julie Bowen other than those three I chose Constance Wu and Wendy Covey cause they are a huge part of their own shows

  12. No Eden Sher? Blasphemy!

  13. I want to add a couple more ABC family sitcoms to my rotation so I will marathon one or two this summer. Since you are the expert, which one should it be? I already watch Modern Family, Fresh off the Boat and Cristela.

Blackish will probably be one of them since I kind of enjoyed the pilot and it is only one season to catch up so it is easy. The second one will be between Last Man Standing, The Middle and The Goldbergs. I've watched the pilots for all three back then and I didn't like the one from The Goldbergs (but people say it is the worst episode of the series apparently) and found the other two okay. Suggestions?

  14. Other: Eden Sher

  15. Thanks for asking.

I personally hate Blackish, I find AA annoying and think FOTB and Cristela capture race in a better, funnier way. But, that's just my personal opinion.

Yeah, The Goldbergs' pilot was God awful. Like Trophy Wife, I didn't see the mess until after I decided I liked the series (which it took me a handful of episodes to get into. Its pilot was everyone yelling, with random 80s references, some of which didn't even make sense. To get around this the series takes place in "198something" instead of the 1985 the pilot took place in. It's a much better show now. The middle child, Barry, is kind of like Sue on The Middle in that both are optimists who you can't help but feel bad for.

The Middle is around 135 episodes old, and as such is a changed show. Axl no longer walks around shirtless, Sue doesn't wear braces, Brick has a much deeper voice, Frankie no longer works at the car dealership, and as such her coworker Bob and boss Mr. Elhert have been written off. Of ciurse, I don't know if you even remember any of that from the pilot...It also used to focus a lot on the fact that they live in Indiana, though now they've kind of just graduated to lower-middle-class family any place. It's such a sweet show witg many laughs as well. Characters are well-developed (how could they not be after all this time?, and even though many recurring characters have come and gone, the Hecks are still there, struggling just to make ends meet (you should have seen their solution to when their sink and dishwasher broke). Highly recommended.

Since you have your mind set on Blackish, I would suggest also watching The Middle, and saving The Goldbergs as a Cristela replacement (though it is also highly recommended, great show. Based on a real family too if you didn't know).

Unfortunately I haven't seen more than one episode of Last Man Standing, so I can't really speak on it. I will say that the episode I saw seemed kind of bland.

  16. Hahaha. I figured if I put her in I'd have to do all the people playing kids, else I'd be blasted for giving an exception for my favorite show. Haha

  20. haha, I like Garlin, but hes IMO my least fave of the Goldberg clan (minus pops). Still great, just compared to the other 4, not as great.

  21. Really? Pops is my second favorite.

Funny how we can like the same shoe for different reasons.

  22. Thanks for all the input! My only issue with The Middle is the number of episodes. I usually like to jump into a show when after its first, second, maximum third seasons. To catch up on 6 seasons would be quite the accomplishment. But I keep hearing all the praise about it, so I guess it is worth it. I will let you know what I decide to do at some point then, thanks!

Surprised you haven't watched more Last Man Standing. I thought you watched all ABC sitcoms (well except Blackish, which I understand you strongly dislike now).

  23. Constance Wu, I was shocked when I found out she's only 26. She plays an asian mom so effortlessly.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love all the moms in the ABC shows I watch (The Middle, Modern Family, Black-ish and Fresh Off The Boat). But I think Ty Burrell and also Neil Flynn are great and so funny! So I voted those two and Patricia Heaton, Tracee Ellis Ross and Constance Wu. I think these three moms are the best moms on TV at the moment!

  25. Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara.

  26. Only 26!? Whoa, didn't know that 😳

  27. I wanted to look up what else she has done before the show and I was completely taken aback by her age. She's actually turning 27 today since it's her birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, I saw on Twitter that it was her birthday! But 27, incredible! I think she does a great job on Fresh Off The Boat
