  3. I did enjoy the Bangel romance but I was always a Spuffy fan.

  4. I like the layout changes lately. Very cool.

I'm Team ... Not Riley! I'm more of a Spuffy fan, but I enjoyed both Bangel and Spuffy at the time they were on the show, and loved both Angel and Spike, so I'm not going to be able to throw down too hard here. Honestly, they were both awful for her at certain points - Angelus killed Jenny, pre-soul Spike tried to rape her; not great boyfriends, vampires without souls - but they were also what she needed at others. I will say that given my choice, Buffy would end up with Spike in the future, should she end up with anybody. I think that Bangel grew in different directions; plus, by the time they were over, I was kinda done with the no touching drama. I think the versions of Spike and Buffy that existed at the end of BtVS fit better than the versions of Angel and Buffy we left off with.

But as long as Buffy never ends up with Riley, be it in the comics or that reunion movie they finally make a decade or two in the future where there's only three original cast members, the vampires have very noticeably aged and SGM can't high kick anymore, I'm cool. Spike, Angel or alone are all acceptable options. Just no Riley.

Used to be angel and Buffy, till I fell in love with him and Cordy instead

  6. DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE. (But, probs Spuffy if I had to.)

    ReplyDelete
  7. As a couple I loved Bangel but as characters I loved Spike more than Angel. He was my favourite in the later seasons.

    Love the new poll.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I hated Riley too :D

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm no shipper, but it would have to be Spuffy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Bangel for sure, I shipped them as a teenager.

  11. The ship question that never dies off

Angel had a soul forced on him, Spike fought for his for Buffy. Gotta go with Spike.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Neither- Solo Buffy

    ReplyDelete
  14. Spike and Buffy, Angel and Faith.

    ReplyDelete
  15. None of these. Faith/Buffy is better.

  16. Glad you like the changes. We hope to have more during the hiatus when we get more time to develop

    Spuffy ... Duh !

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought both romances were important for her, but I never really 'shipped' her with anyone (the only Buffy shipping I did was with Tara and Willow). I always thought Riley was a good partner for her too, he wasn't as toxic as the others. Also, fuck Parker!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can get on board with that ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. There was supposed to be a kiss between them in season 3 in the script , but the network cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Take a third option. I voted for Spuffy but I also love Angel/Spike and Buffy/Spike/Angel.There's just something interesting about a triangle where everybody has slept with everyone else in cannon.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I honestly can not choose. Love her with both

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bangel. Angel will always be her true love, but I underst Spuffy at that time and I liked it A LOT.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Talk about a blast from the past! Pretty much my introduction to online fandom and "shipping".

Buffy/Angel or B/A, Always and forever (never liked the name Bangel, it was generally used in a demeaning fashion by the other side). Spuffy was a vile, offensive abomination.

Also, good thing I severed any emotional attachment to this fight long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OMG My poll got selected, yay. Spike and Buffy ALL THE WAY. I love those two, the way Spike fights for her, and their S7 journey of how Buffy falls really in love with him and his sacrifice was epic. My second faovurite couple of all time.
BTW I love that u guys put photos, cool :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I shipped both. But I voted Spuffy! I really loved how Spike challenged her. And TBH, I didn't ship Spuffy, UNTIL, he started having feelings for her in season 4. And even when Angel came back for his visits, I was just like no, sorry Angel. She's with Spike now. Don't be jealous. Lol Spuffy had an adult relationship. Bangel was puppy/first love. Child's play.

That was always my resoning for loving Spike over Angel, Spike fought to become better where Angel was doing penance for his evil, Spike had more depth to him & brooded a whole lot less.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Plus, Spike is one of the best fictional characters of all time, hands down

    ReplyDelete
  29. What should I say? Angel is great.. But I still think Spike is cooler.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I went with Buffy and Angel. Don't get me wrong, I was into Buffy and Spike (her grasping his burning hand in the finale and quietly telling him she loved him...gah!), but there was just something so grand and gothic about the Buffy/Angel relationship in season two and three.
But then again, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" never lived or died for me based on 'ships.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "not great boyfriends"? Of course not. They are vampires. What did you expect? A happily ever after?
But I do aree with you. Both (Angel an Spike) were at times good and at times bad for her.
Angel was the personification of the romantic happily ever after love every girl dreams of. Till she grows up and sees how the world really is. What got on my nerve on the Angel front was this on/off thing between them. it was gettng ridiculous. I feel like they broke up every month just to be together again in the next. Part of me regreted Angel leaving. The other part liked it.
Spike, I think, was the one thing keeping Buffy sane and alive in S6, after she came back. Without him, she would have lost it. Then again, he attacks and nearly rapes her when she breaks up with him.
I didn't like Riley either. Maybe that's the reason he left (or was fired. what ever). He's married. So I think there is no danger for them getting back together.
I too think Buffy would choose Spike. If in the future she would have to make a choice.
I would love a renuion movie. Angel and Spike could be a problem though. Vampires shouldn't get older. The problem is, nearly 20 (okay, let's say 15) years passed since the show (God I'm old!). They woul need a lot of digital editing to make Angel and Spike 20 years younger ...

    ReplyDelete
  32. So was I. Then I grew up, woke up, and realised, that the romantic happily ever afer love fantasy they tried to sell us was just that. A fantasy.
The relationship Buffy had with Spike was more realistic. I I always thought Spike was cool. even in S2, when he was a bad guy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I sooooo agree with you.
If we're now talking Spike S4-S7. His change began in S4 with the chip, although we didn't really see it till S5.
As for Spike S2-S3 he was cool. Even as a bad guy I couldn't hate him (unlike Adam, Glory, the First, ...).

    ReplyDelete
  34. Buffy with Spike.
    Angel with Faith.
Nina? Nina? The wolf? Also possible for Angel. I can't remember: why did they break up?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I wouldn't really mind. I mean: to each his own, as I always say. But there are 2 problems:
    1. They don't get along that well (on the other hand, neither did Buffy and Spike till S7)
    2. Neither of them is gay (as far as we know)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Noneofyourbusiness12 March 2015 at 16:58

I liked Buffy/Angel when they were together, but I feel like they outgrew it. I prefer Buffy with Spike and Angel with Cordelia.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I always thought I was team Spuffy, but as I grow older, I'm unsure. Both relationships have their pros and cons and highs and lows, I think they both accurately represent who she was in those periods of her life. So with the show(s)(Not the comics-haven't read them) ending how they did, I can't decide. I would love to see just how things would work for both couples now. Like some weird bizarro alt-timeline episode of how the relationships would currently stand had the characters kept progressing how they had at the end of their perspective series.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Will and Tara. Yes. I liked them together ...Replacing Oz with Tara was a great risk, but it turned out perfectly.
I never realy liked Riley. He did make her happy at the begining, true. But he was egoistic. He lied to her, had secrets and left her because she didn't choose him over everyone and everything else. He expected to be the center of her universe.
He wasn't there for her, when she needet him. When her mother died, when she came back, ... The only reason why I was sad he left is, because it hurt Buffy. Sorry if you liked him. But that is just how I feel.

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL You're killing me.
    Spike/Buffy/Angel ... Hmm ... Could be interesting ...

I stopped watching before the Spuffy years, so definitely Bangel. And still, I was always a big Angel fan, so even if I had stick around it would be Bangel...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Come on, u hated Glory? She was awesome. So was Dark Willow. The only villain I truly hated was Angelus, so annoying, even more than Angel

    ReplyDelete
  42. Disappointed there isn't a "Neither" option. Not because I ship Buffy with Riley, or any other male on the show. There wasn't a guy I shipped her with at all in the show. I think Angel was right for her when she was with him, but she grew out of him, same with Riley, she needed someone like him. Spike, again, was what she needed during season 6. Although by the end of that season, she'd moved passed him again. I think they were all right for her when she was with them. But none of them were ever going to end up with her.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry, but I can't agree with you.
Buffy and Angel, as said in my other comments above, was great. I loved them. Sadly it was the personification of the romantic happily ever after love fantasy. But it's just a fantay. A love like that doesn't exist in the real world. Besides they broke up once a month just to get back together a month later. It got boring.
Buffy and Spike, on the other hand, was closer to reality. She used him, as he used her. And they both enjoyed it. They never talked about love or getting old together (In a figurative sense, of course. At least for Spike). They did care for each other. Even loved each other. But it was more physical.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I loved Spike, hated Spike and Buffy (I hate annoying shipper names) They were so much more fun as friends/enemies. I feel like I've answered this question a thousand times in the past 12 years.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Actually I rewatched the show last year and still preferred Buffy and Angel to Buffy and Spike so..

    ReplyDelete
  46. And I can't agree with you. I will never acknowledge Buffy and Spike as anything but show destroying horrible writing and demented fantasies from the folks Joss Whedon left in charge while he was of playing with his new shiny toy Firefly.

13 years ago I would proably have been more interested in fighting about it. Now, let's agree to disagree okay? Because the show is long dead and neither side won.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't know if you mean the character ot the the actors.
Mostly, when I say I hate a character I mean the character (best example Klaus on TVD/Originals. I hate him as hell and want him dean in all the most painful possible ways. But I respect Joseph. He's a great actor), and not the actor.
Yes, I hated Glory. She was like Dru a complete psycho. "I'll destroy all the barriers and destroy all the worlds cause I want to go home" You don't have a problem with that? If she would have turned to the right witches they would have been happy to help her. Ridding the world of her would have been enough of a motivation in my book.
I hated Angelus too. Not so much Dark Willow (I kinda understood why she lost it). But David and Alyson both did a great job playing those parts.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Of course when I say I hate a character I mean only the character, the actors portrayed them really well

    ReplyDelete
  49. I too watch it over and over again ...
As I say: to each his own.
And, as I said above, I loved Buffy and Angel. They were great. But a love like that doens't exist. That is my problem with their relationship. This romantic, eternal, unconditional love ... It's so mawkish I'm geting diabetes.
Ofcourse I have some problems with Buffy and Spike too. Not only were they using eachother, but sometimes their relationship even seemed destructive. What I liked about it was, that it was closer to reality (than what she had with Angel).
Yes I know. We're talking about a show with avpires, demons and withces. More reason to stick to reality where we can. And if school (terror), jobs (that sucks), paying bills or relationship problems are what we can use on those shows, we should use it. I don't know if you watch for example TVD. Not once in the 4 season I watched we had to deal with real problems like paying bills. How perfect that they all have enough money. From where? I think Matt was the only one who had to work for his money. And noone had a problem with all that teenagers living alone ... I think you get my point here.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Never cared much about the romance part on Buffy but after the attempted rape in season 6 I vowed to hate every ship. No...none

    ReplyDelete
  51. "show destroying horrible writing"? Could you get more specific? Each season had good and bad parts.
But since we're talking about Spike here ... He was suposed to play a miner role ad die after a few eps. I'm glad they kept him. In S4 and 5 they did strugle with him. How to make him a regular? How to change his character so he could fit in, ... I have to agree that it wasn't their best work, but in the end he did choose a side and I liked who he became. He showed strength and character and fought to be better. You at least have to respect that. Angels sould was forced upon him. Twice. Spike wanted to be better for her.
If you mean it generally I can only say: S6. The only thing about that season (besides the halloween and the musical eps) I liked was, that it showed us more reality than all the other seasons. Financial problems, a horrible job with no future, relationship problems (Xander&Anya, Will&Tara, Buffy&Dawn), ... A struglge to survive. Or to at least manage everyday life. But I was extremely disappointed over the villain. With each season the villain became stronger and more dangerous. But in S6 the Big Bad were 3 loosers?!? Poor writing job, I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Angel with Cordy?
Neh ... I mean, I do like how she changed. From a spoiled proncess that mobbed all the other kids in school to a fighter that helps the helpless.
But I still don't like her. And I just can't see her with Angel. Sorry ...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Don't care about romance or shipping, but I'm gonna go with Bangel here. I'm a weird person who's not a fan of a relationship between a supposed strong, kickass female lead and her attempted rapist. That's just me, though.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Two words: Attempted Rape

    ReplyDelete
  55. Couldn't have said it better myself

    ReplyDelete
  56. Come on, in TVD they are all vampires, except some people, they compel themselves the money hehe

    ReplyDelete
  57. Spuffy. Spike seemed more like a real person, with passion.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Look at the houses they live in ... It's old money. Still. Without someone earning money (by having a job) it can only last that long ... Without an income even old money is gone sooner or later .

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yeah, that was not one of his best moments. But i wouldn't say it was bad writing. It was the one thing to push him over the edge. The reason for him to leave and go on a jurney to get his soul back.
    Jut my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Very hard question because I love both Spike and Angel equally (not only as Buffy's lovers: I adore the hell out of those two vampires). I love them much more than Buffy herself, sometimes.

I find the relationship between Buffy and Spike much more interesting as a viewer because it raises much more questions about both characters than the one between Angel and Buffy. It was a very mature, sometimes dark and sometimes very moving, journey of self-discovery for the two of them (by the way, I will never forgive the writers for that sexual assault. Never).

Angel and Buffy have this magical, pure and life-defining love for one another. It has been like this between them since the very beginning of the show. I believe that Angel's the love of Buffy's life. Only a curse can divide two soulmates like them. There wasn't so much to explore after three seasons.

Also, I find Buffy and Spike much more funnier than Angel and Buffy. Angel was quite suffucated in the first seasons of Buffy as a character. I will always be grateful to the spin-off because it gave a chance to prove himself as a sublime and very complex figure. Spike, not. Spike was able to steal the show from everyone else. From the start.

p.s.: Personally, I ship Buffy and Faith ;-D My first F/F couple ever. Then, Joss gave me Willow and Tara and I almost forgot about my fanon ship. Almost

p.s.: no thoughts about Riley, anyway? *laughs*

  66. Can't believe we're still beating this old chesnut. I imagine myself in 50 years still coming back to vote for Bangel a.k.a Buffy and Angel. Haha. They are the loves of my fan girl life.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Come on what about Cordy, Angel and Cordy were like Buffy and Spike....I mean friendship first, trust, rely on each other....and then the love comes...

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yeah Cordy and Angel were beautiful but ultimately tragic.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Buffy and Spike HATED each other in the beginning. For 3 years they tried to kill each other. Later Spike only helped Buffy cause he couldn't hurt humans, only demons. So he hunted demons and so helped Buffy. True, he fell for her. But it was animalic, physical. After a while she learned to trust him (it took her the entire 4th and 5th season). When they were together in S6 it was just about sex. Especially for her. It was a escape from reality. He loved her, but never could show her like Angel used to. In S7 they showed their true feelings for each other.
Angel and Cordy started as friends. I don't know, why he fell for her. He didn't really liked her in the beginning. Understandable. She was a spoiled princess, caring only for herself. It's one of the reasons I never liked her. Also the reason why I don't get, how they could bring her and Angel together. I mean, sure, he was friendly and charming (in Sunnydale) … he
always was. But he never showed any interest in her (romantic or sexual). In LA they were just friends and they worked together. From one day to another he decided he loves her? Too sudden I think. Or wasn't it? I admit, it's been a while so I can't remember how exactly it was between them. I remember there was something with a ballet company. A spell was responsible that they were making out. Otherwise I can't remember situations with sexual tension between them.
Faith and Robin? It could work. Thy had great chemistry.
Angel and Faith also had great chemistry. A very intense connection. Even back in Sunnydale (when he tried to help her). It's why I would rather see him with her than Cordy.
