  1. Kind of a complex, hectic case...but still intriguing, and creepy (ugh, that poor wife...her ear). And quite the disturbing plot twist at the end, too. Me thinks the team's view of this guy will change very fast as time goes on.
And Reid! Gah, he was awesome throughout. All the language expertise was great, loved seeing him so desperate to run in and save that woman, and the ending with him and the girl he was working with throughout! Awwwwww :). Be very interesting to see how that plays out as time goes on.

  2. Great Episode i like what they did this episode!!! Very different love political corruption! Did anyone notice Reid shook that girl's hand....he never shakes anyone hand.

  3. Yeah, he even told her as much when they first met and she initially went to shake his hand. But then by the end of the episode...he's suddenly changed his mind about doing that. At least, with her :D.

  4. I did notice. And I noticed that when he said that she just accepted it without saying anything and patted his arm. I thought...ahh... I think they'll get along. I also loved that he offered her his hand at the end.

  5. The new girl looks pregnant :-!

  6. Kate, you mean? 'Cause she is on the show, and the actress is pregnant in real life, too.

  7. Wow, unexpected ending... corrupted, selfish, greedy politician ! ugly family ! loved the whole episode !

  8. So she is pregnant on the show too, as a character? Sorry, i have missed a few eps ;-)

  9. Wow. Awesome! My congratulations to the writer, Sharon Lee Watson, who managed to surprise me. After the case was "closed", I did not expect that ending! And in 90% on the cases I am not surprised anymore when I watch crime shows. Meaning I figure out who did it.

All along I went from one option to another - that it is the husband/politician, it is the wife/victim herself, it is the politicians mother... Yet somehow I did not consider the option with this case/episode that it was team-work. It was too obvious to me that it is not the brother, because it is never the "bad boy in the family". I also did not really consider the ex-assistant to be the unsub.

But it reminded me once again how and why deep inside (being a logical,.all mind, brain person) I do not believe in profiling, and psychology, and do not consider them "real". It really is just a guess work, and the same signs can mean so many different things. And with different context the meaning changes. Plus profiling is not completely trustworthy, even if good profilers (tv show examples: CM, Lie to Me) can read most people well, because most people are very predictable, it is not completely accurate, and a "good actor" can fool even skilled mind, behaviour, and body language experts.

Even though I think like this about profiling, I enjoy the show. I think part of the appeal to me is watching profiling (guessing) going wrong...until the right guess is made that solves the case.

This was a good, strong episode.

I enjoyed the Reid and agent Loker scenes. Props also to MGG, whose Russian (pronunciations) is one of the best I have heard on tv/movies from non-speakers. (I speak the language, and even though I am rusty, and my own pronunciation is not that good, I know how it is supposed to sound. And there are often moments, when I hear "russian mobsters" on tv shows speak and I have no idea what they are saying.) But Matthew did really good. I was impressed.

  10. SPOILERS for CRIMINAL MINDS

Yes, the actress (J.L. Hewitt) who plays the new character, Kate, is pregnant. And in just last week or so it was revealed on the show that so is her character.

The writers/producers have also said that the pregnancy of the other CM actress, AJ Cook (who is also expecting), who plays JJ, will also be written into the show. So there will be one more such announcement on the show at the end of this season.

  11. Where'd you hear that about AJ's pregnancy being written in?

  12. That makes me rather pleased to hear that Matthew's Russian was so convincing! I'm not well-versed in that language at all, so for a layperson like myself, it'd be easy for anyone speaking another language to sound convincing. But it's nice to have someone who has some knowledge of the language confirming that he did well with it-that IS impressive, and I really admire him for that :).
As for your theories on profiling/psychology, I agree that a lot of it is guess work, and certain reactions can be open to a variety of interpretations. And human beings can be VERY unpredictable, and some people can be scary good at putting on a mask and fooling even the best body language/profiling/psychological experts.
But there are some sorts of body language that are hard to hide or read in an innocent way (even if someone's not guilty of murder, sometimes their behavior indicates they clearly know something or are involved in some other way). And of course, some people can't lie or hide to save their lives, either. So it is interesting to see how simple phrasing or shifts in facial expressions can reveal so much, too, yeah.
As I've said before, for me, the aspect of the cases that I find most interesting are all the issues that they bring up-the debate over nature versus nurture in terms of "evil", the debate over "evil" to begin with, whether or not people can be redeemed, what punishments certain criminals do or don't deserve, etc. And I'm also interested in seeing how these cases affect the team, too. But it is interesting when the show does get to properly delve into the actual line of work these people do as well, and see their profiling skills in action, and see when it does work or, like you said, the moments when it doesn't work.

  13. That's okay! I figured that might be the case. But yep, as noted by Rhiann, that is true :).

  14. Any time Reid gets to be awesome and Hotch gets to wear plain clothes, I'm happy. I thought it was a great episode but it's one of those where I hope to see that creepy villain again. I want him in jail.

  15. Oooh, yeah, I'd love to see that slimy politician get caught up in another case down the line, and see how the team handled him this go-round.
LOL at your comment about Hotch wearing plain clothes, too :D. That was a bit jarring, yes, but I agree that it's nice to see the team in "relaxed clothing" mode, even when working a case :p.

  16. Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I agree, in many cases the little things (expressions,. tone of voice, mimics, and other details) are telling, and most people do behave exactly how textbooks say they will in certain situations. And I do appreciate how some people can notice those little changes, but I cannot take "profiling" 100% seriously. The bahaviour can mean often many different things, and it is easy to pick the wrong option imo.

Yep, MGG did a great job imo. Maybe someone from Russia/whose native language is Russian will comment on this, too. For a more valid opinion. (His pronunciation was not perfect, but seriously...it really was one of the best I have heard on tv shows, and I could actually understand what he said without reading the captions)

  17. You're welcome :)!
Yeah, I totally understand that. And it's to the show's credit that they have acknowledged that profiling isn't an exact science, have voiced the skeptical angle by way of some of the everyday victims and law enforcement people they work with, and have had those moments on the show where the team got it wrong, or had to overhaul what they thought they knew (that happened last night, as you note). It's a helpful science, it has merits and can be very useful in certain situations, but like any other line of work, it's not perfect. So it is nice when the show does acknowledge that.
From what I have heard about the Russian language, it sounds like a pretty tough one to learn (an interesting, neat one, for sure, but still tough)! So even an attempt at getting it right gets kudos from me :D.
And I'm just all for Reid speaking, or attempting to speak, another language in general, 'cause let's face it, it's sexy :p.

  18. Agree, I too want to see that politician again, he had me fooled (and not fooled, and then fooled again) I was torn that whole ep! He really was creepy when answering all the questions about his affair, so and we still don't know if the affair's still on ;-)

  19. Wow, I was already ready to reply to you that I am sorry, I was wrong, and I saw it in a dream, because I could not find the source anymore. But I finally found that it (a tweet by a shows producer, Harry Bring)

  20. Ah, okay, thanks! Cool :).

  21. No, yeah, I understand that. It's good to have official confirmation on other sites reporting on stuff about the show, too, and all that, especially since, as you note, the show can change its mind about certain storylines (and you raise a good point about how the "Yes" can be interpreted, too).
Yeah, we need a follow up on that politician, 'cause if he's gonna keep doing that stuff, it's going to have a ripple effect! And yes to more JJ/Garcia friendship moments. I want that, too.
A lot of people seem to like Einstein! I like her, too. But then some other fans have said that their interaction was so brief that they didn't see the "connection", or that putting Reid with someone actually having the last name Einstein would seem rather "obvious", too. *Shrugs* I personally would be fine with either one, myself, but everyone's got their preference and it's cool.
And besides that, everyone's getting so hyped up one way or another about Dorian-until we get actual confirmation she'll be coming back or the show makes actual reference to their date implying they seemed to click or whatever, though, I'm not going to put TONS of stock in this developing into something just yet. He had flirtations with Lila and Austin, after all, and the end of those episodes insinuated those women wanted to see him again, and yet nothing ever happened with that. And he and JJ went on that Redskins date way back in the first season and nothing came of that, either. For me, it's more just the simple fact of seeing Reid feeling comfortable enough to take a chance on meeting someone new again at all that I'm happy to see. Even if he and Dorian just wind up being good friends, she gave him the confidence to ask someone out that he can use down the line, too, and I like that.
Sorry season 10 hasn't been grabbing you as much! At least it had its moments here and there, so that's something...but yes, here's hoping they ramp up the excitement in the last stretch of episodes (though preferably without the whole "who will leave the team?!" cliffhanger that last season's finale had :p).
