  1. Lots of videogames and hundreds of books, 16 things are canon. -_-

Rebels was always canon. In fact they've been using it as a launchpad for various other canon material.

  4. wait and see what books they plan to add to canon, I'm fairly convinced that at some point the Old Republic including some of the most iconic sith lords ever will be used in some shape or form.

I mean...who wouldn't want to use Darth Revan or Darth Nihilus at least once?

But I'm okay with them erasing the extended universe to a degree, gives them more creative freedom

  5. Actually Rebels and the new Battlefront are the only pieces of media we always knew were canon, Rebels was the first (correct me if I'm wrong) Star Wars product to come out of that Disney buy-out.

I think you mean The Clone Wars here, because I wasn't too sure on that one

  6. just a thought that rushed through my head right now....remember when we were growing up and had a bunch of amazing saturday morning cartoons? X-Men, Spider-Man, Scoobie Doo, Mega Man X....but never we had a single show about Star Wars. I envy this new generation that gets to grow up watching Star Wars themed animated shows. Laugh if you will but I'm a little sad that I can't get myself to appreciate all the animated shows (I just can't take these shows serious) the older I get

Yeah Star Wars kinda disappeared and stayed in novel/comic form for the majority of its life (other then the movies of course). Star Wars had some smaller shows but they were very obscure (Droids and Ewoks).

What makes me jealous is that kids get to grow up watching the animated Marvel universe. Ultimate Spider-Man/Avengers Assemble/Hulk and the Agents Of S.M.A.S.H. is oddly fun. In fact much of the DIsney XD lineup currently which I do enjoy I think I would have appreciated much more when I was growing up.

Although there are some oldies I've discovered in adulthood that I feel I wouldn't have appreciated as a child...like Jem And The Holograms. Jem is truly truly outrageous.

  8. oh ok i just people didn't believe it and cool

  9. Well, Ewoks wasn't a show though but two stand-alone spin-off movies if I'm not mistaken. I did love them though, seeing my fluffy man eating (they were totally going to eat Han and Luke so yeah, they usually eat humans) bears saving some adorable kids life....need to watch them again.

Never seen Droids, the only animated show I actually got to watch in this universe was the original Clone Wars animated series (wich was both terrifying and amazing for me as a, then, kid)

Well, we did have New Spider-Man, wich was about as good as animated shows got back when.

Believe me I've tried hard to laugh but I just can't.

  10. yeah i wasn't sure people believed it and yeah for the longest time i didn't know if Clone Wars WAS canon

Ewoks started with 2 movies and had a follow up tv series of 35 episodes. It's annoying to track down though since the full thing was never released on DVD (same with droids).

Star Wars: Rebels I personally really like. It wants to be Firefly for kids. I suggest giving the pilot movie (Spark Of Rebellion) a try if you haven't. It's not really a comedy, but it does have some funny moments. It's more focused on showing the origins of the rebels through one small group.

The Cartoon Network lineup was generally what I considered the peak of 'good cartoons' as a kid. Powerpuff Girls, Courage The Cowardly Dog, ect. I still lament what Cartoon Network has become. ...also I'm angry at Cartoon Network for passing on the Blue Beetle live action show.

  12. I didn't know about the follow up episodes, I do have a copy of the original TV movies though. Still got them on amazon as well (well...for a hefty price though)

I actually bought the pilot on DVD as a gift for my younger brother, it wasn't bad or anything, just not my type anymore (also I was pretty pissed, I thought it had feature length like the Clone Wars one but nope, 43 minutes....I cashed $10 for a 43 minute dvd....grrr)
I'll give it a shot though

Oh cartoon network, they lost my respect once they started turning their cartoon properties into badly made live-action movies (except the Scoobie-Doo prequels, they were fun)

Yeah, I saw that DC nation clip and thought it'd fit well for CN too but guess they missed the ball on that train

  13. What does this mean?

  14. how many Darths ARE there?

The things listed in the chart (along with the marvel comics, Star Wars Rebels tie-in books and The Clone Wars Multimedia Project) are all in the same world as the Star Wars films. Future films may refer to them and plot elements may be set up in some for use in other titles.

Previous works (Stuff from before Disney acquired LucasFilms) are not canon and wont be referred to. However the best elements from them are going to be recycled and used in the new canon.

122 with names in the expanded universe. Even more without. That's no longer canon though.

I believe in canon theirs about...4 now? Vader, Maul, Sidious and Bane.

  17. I would only like for them to tie it in with the previous movies so that it's not that confusing.

I believe currently they have 20 books and comics coming out in the lead up to the new movie with the label 'Journey To Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. They tell the events that took place in the 30 years leading up to it. Setting the stage for what is going to happen.

  19. 122 before they were taken off canon wow and now four cool

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, but basically 99.9% of Star Wars lore is now non-canon. I hope they keep the Old Republic stuff. And at least some post-Return stuff (like Thrawn).

    ReplyDelete
  21. There are six I believe. Darth Bane (creator of the rule of Two and Sith'ari), Darth Plagueis, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul, Darth Tyrannous, and Darth Vader (my favourite). But to me and my head canon there will always be 122.

  22. I prefer Spectacular Spider-Man to Ultimate.

  23. You know I think it's a mater of quality whether or not one can take an animated show seriously.... I'm almost 30 and I'll be damned but I can still watch the DC animated series of the 90's and early 00's with the same amount of commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Eh... I think things might be getting a bit convoluted but whatever...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't believe that The Old Republic MMORPG is not canon., even though it's ongoing

Technically the pilot movie is longer then 43 minutes. The DVD includes a series of shorts which were produced as episode 1 (then cut into the shorts format). In total they add up to about 20 minutes. Then the movie was produced as episodes 2 and 3 which is roughly 43 minutes total. So it ends up as over an hour.

Cartoon Network is a shell of what they formally were. It's kinda sad to see how far they've fallen. Hopefully they'll return to their prime though, apparently they are looking at rebooting The Powerpuff Girls.

  27. I'm pretty sure I read that when they were changing over cannons that they said we would eventually see familiar faces!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. And we might finally get a live action TV series too! (For the life of me, I just can't get into the 3D style of animation)

  29. with Star Wars its Stick to the Movies only for me. Other the Spinoff hater in me would burst like Pompeii

Nope. Only things canon are the six movies. If I need to read a book or watch a cartoon to understand episode 7, they did something wrong.

  31. That reminds of Batman: Brave and the Bold

    ReplyDelete
  32. that's big and of course Vader's a favorite, he used to be Anakin Skywalker LOL. You guys still like Maul? wasn't he in the hated prequels?

    ReplyDelete
  33. No he actually had a pretty big fan base. Only bigger thanks to Clone Wars.
