Girls - Tad & Loreen & Avi & Shanaz - Review

Girls continued its amazing fourth season last night with an all new and hilarious episode, titled “Tad & Loreen & Avi & Shanaz” on HBO, written by Lena Dunham & Jenni Konner and directed by Jamie Babbit.
It was an excellent episode, really funny. I’ve been missing laughing out loud several times during one Girls episode. In “Tad & Loreen & Avi & Shanaz”, between Hannah’s weird behavior with her student and Fran and her parents’s problem, I kept laughing and it felt so good.

Hannah was still teaching as a sub and she had befriended Cleo, one of her teenager students. It was really weird to watch them, Hannah clearly showed one more time she had no boundaries. She wanted to be a teacher so she could help others, like she’s used to help other people and of course, it turned out she wasn’t helping at all. She even took advice from Cleo and basically told Cleo to go after Shia Leboeuf… Oh Hannah…
Anyways, the piercing scene was hilarious. They both went there, on Clea’s idea, to get a best friends piercing. They were best friends for like 15 minutes, and seriously getting tongue periced with your sub teacher felt weird. I couldn’t stop laughing when Hannah described the whole procedure while poor Cleo was so much hurting. Hannah chickened out and didn’t get a piercing, teaching Cleo a very good lesson : “it’s okay to change your mind”. Oh Hannah, you're a good teacher in a surprisingly way.

After her terrible and awful behavior during her date with Fran, Hannah tried to make things better with him. First, it was awkward (plus he mentioned his mother giving him that wonderful t-shirt) because Hannah (and Cleo) thought he was pretending nothing happened ‘cause he was hurt. Hannah and Fran’s discussion became even more awkward when he told her he wasn’t interested in her anymore.
He was interested in her first, because she’s original, intriguing and smart but she’s way too more drama. He’s been there and didn’t want to get back. Fran couldn’t have been more right. Hannah is drama, she is always dramatic, over anything. She has that ability to create drama over any situations. So, a guy she was interested in calling her dramatic was a new drama for Hannah and she had to call her parents… If only she knew what drama they were having, she would have called Marnie, Shosh or even Jessa.

Tad, Hannah’s dad, dropped a huge bomb on Loreen, right after their therapist session : he is gay. It surprised me, the way he said it, it was so unexpected. After, it wasn’t that much of a surprise, some things always seemed off with him, like Elijah noticed. It really felt like he was always hiding something and I’m glad now it's out.
Of course, that type of revelation really shook Loreen’s world. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must feel like to learn that your partner has been lying for so many years. It was a lot to accept, and Loreen lost it. First, she went crying and being angry at the Riesling (it’s not that sweet) in the car but the best part was at the dinner party with their friends for her 10 years. Tad started his speech about her and what she meant for him, but she couldn’t take it anymore. It seemed so fake now to listen to his words of love and friendship. He had hidden an essential part of himself to her (and probably to himself for so many years…)
And it turned out Loreen had a secret of her own. Avi, one of their married friends, was deeply in love with her and kissed her again. She even told Tad he was in love with her, she had nothing to lose or to fear now. And, that was when Hannah called, asking if she was a dramatic person. I loved how her mother told her about her dad. Oh God, I can’t expect a crazy reaction from Hannah. How much drama will she caused because of that ? I bet she’ll start acting like it’s fine and then she’ll explode. Can’t wait for next week !

In other parts of the episode, Shosh was still trying to find her place in the world. Since the season has started, Shosh has been so lost. She knew the world was hard, but she thought she could do it… Turned out she is like everybody else. It was very sweet to watch her with Ray, I still think those two belong together. They’re both so weird it makes a great pairing. Yet, Ray revealed he still thinking of Marnie, which pissed Shosh off. Loved how she moved like one feet from him.
Shosh finally had a date with the Soup guy and nothing went as expected, still it was a very good date. First, Shosh went there thinking she should become her mother, marry a rich man and be his wife but it turned out that plan was the opposite of what he was looking for. One more letdown for Shoshie... Then, even if she knew she shouldn’t listen to Jessa’ advice, she still took it, but in a weird, Shoshanna way. It was hilarious to watch and hear Shosh talking so dirty in the restaurant. Anyways, I really like their chemistry and I hope we will see him again. While Ray is still thinking about Marnie, Shosh can have a good time.

And speaking of Marnie, something big happened to her, and it was totally unexpected. Devi came home with new pedals for his guitar, and telling her he spent all their advance. Marnie was really pissed off over Devi's childish and selfish's reactions one more time. He's such a terrible man, he’s so not the right pick for Marnie. They’re too different, and yet, they have decided to get married. He proposed in a café, and she said yes. For a second, when I saw the little box, I believed she would say no and just keep screaming at him because she was right. Money can destroy couples. But when I saw her big smile, I knew she’d say yes and she'd suffer with that man. Damn, Marnie, you’re making such a mistake… But we’re going to have another Girls wedding ! Yay !

What did you think of “Tad & Loreen & Avi & Shanaz” ? Are you happy Adam wasn’t there (I know I was) ? What do you think Hannah will do ? Hit the comments !
