Banshee - We All Pay Eventually (Season Finale) - Review: "Golden Ticket"

Oh My Freaking God ! That was an epic season finale Banshee offered us last night. The perfect episode to end an absolutely amazing and extraordinary season. Every parts of “We All Pay Eventually” were so good, from Bunker’s storyline with his former brotherhood to Hood’s raid on the camp to save his friends, including Kai’s revenge mission for what Frazer did, everything was so well paced, every characters were at their best. It was a great hour of television.

Job, Carrie and Sugar were still prisoner at the Camp, and Job was getting interrogated again. We knew he was the Hacker, wanted by several agencies, even by the CIA ever since he made 40 military operative personal files disappeared from the NSA database, just to erase Hood's files. It was a great revelation, especially in relation with what happened at the end of the episode. Hood is partially responsible for Job being hunted by Leo. This might won’t help their relationship, Job was still cold from their theft on the Camp.
And Job was also angry at Carrie. I loved their fighting scene, screaming at each other, both saying "fuck you" to each other, that was hilarious.. But Sugar calmed them down, with a lot of fucking and motherfucker… I really appreciated the atmosphere between the three of them. They were feeling quite hopeless, because only Hood knew they were taken, but he was all alone to rescue them, against a whole military camp. They didn't have much chance to survive. They really thought they were going to die and I kinda thought about it as well. I feared for Sugar’s life during the whole episode actually (I didn't know what, I just got a feeling he'd die).

But Hood actually showed up to the camp and came to talk to Stowe, and it was so great. That man has so much balls, I loved it when he said he had six million reasons to be there. Oh God… And once again, Hood told he wasn’t a real sheriff, he really didn’t care at all anymore. So, Stowe finally put a face and a name on the fourth man who stole him. In exchange for the money, Hood wanted to be sure his friends were alive, Stowe gave him proof of life. Seeing Hood there gave Carrie, Job and Sugar hope that they could actually make it out alive.
Hood had a plan, and he sure needed a lot of guns for it… and some help that came unexpectedly. Gordon came in, with his big gun and they both got ready for the rescue mission at Camp Genoa. And what a mission it was. Their entrance at the camp was totally mind blowing, with the explosions and the guns. It was crazy. I’ve never expected them to go in so directly. In one second, everything changed and became crazy.

As soon as Stowe heard the explosion, he asked his men to go get Carrie, he knew Hood was attacking them. But, Carrie wasn’t tied up with Sugar and Job anymore. Job broke Sugar’s thumbs (it was his idea afterall) so they could all got free and defense themselves. I was so glad when Job jumped on the military man. Job and Sugar went out but they couldn’t help much Hood outside, as they were fighting off Stowe’s right hand. His fight against Job was epic, and Carrie was having an epic fight on her own against Stowe. Job and Carrie were both so good. I can’t pick a favorite. Even with their lines, they were great. I must admit Carrie’s “you fight better than you fuck” to Stowe was my favorite. But the motherfucker got her, pretending he passed out so he could grab her. Bastard ! Job was better in his fight, he sliced the guy’s throat.

I very much enjoyed the physical fights, the choreographies, like usual, were outstanding. It felt so real. I didn’t enjoy as much Hood and Gordon's gun fight. It was a very tense situation but I’m not a big fan of guns, I like better when they get physical but I get Hood and Gordon couldn’t fight off a dozen of military men with their hands. Gordon proved he was an excellent shoot, he took out several men but unfortunately he got shot killing the military sniper ! Damn, I’ve never expected him to be a casualty in that attack. I don’t know why but he always seemed safe to me, because of his relationship with Carrie and the weird parents triangle with Deva. And ever since he accepted who Carrie (or whatever her name) really was, I really wanted them to have a new chance. They deserved it but Banshee’s writers are very cruel this season.

Hood, Job and Sugar were all safe but Carrie was held hostage by Stowe. He threatened to shoot her in the head, making Hood relive what he went through with Siobhan and Chayton. He was about to witness the death of another woman he loved. Antony Starr gave me chills in that scene, I was amazed how much powerful he was. It was so awful to watch it happening again, but of course Carrie didn’t die. Banshee writers are cruel but not that cruel. Gordon saved his wife, shooting right at Stowe’s hand. How disgusting it was to see his fingers scattered on the ground… And then Carrie gutted Colonel Stowe. I was surprised he died in that episode, he could have escaped and come back next season for vengeance but watching Carrie killed him was so satisfying. And after he died, all hell broken loose.

First, Gordon died in Carrie’s hands, telling her how much he loved her… I’ve never really liked Gordon but he made me cry in that scene. It was so sad, for him, for Carrie, for their children… But something even worst happened : Job was kidnapped !!! Leo really meant Job was his golden ticket and he would cash him… I never saw it coming, just like Job. It was lame to hit him by behind, but it was the only way to get him. Oh I wish Job would have killed Leo. Hood tried to save Job but there was nothing he could do against a helicopter. And what could he do now to find Job ? That was Job’s work, using technology, hacking to locate someone. Job is on his own, but surely he will get back on his feet soon. I have no doubt, Job is one of the best character on television, Banshee can not just leave him out. It’s going to be a very long wait to find out what happened to him.

While Hood and his friends were ravaging the camp, Brock was holding the Banshee sheriff department together as usual. Bunker was having some problems with his former brotherhood, HIS nazi friends and brother. Last week, he beat the hell out of two of them so other came, seeking revenge but Bunker lost his nerves and attack them first, in front of Brock !
Bunker also visited his brother, and it first went actually well to much of my surprise. Bunker’s brother was calm and sensible. He wanted to rpotect his blood, his brother. But when Bunker told him what were his plans, to end the brotherhood, everything changed, because the Brotherhood was his brother.
That part of the episode wasn’t my favorite but Brock and Bunker’s talk at the Cadi was definitely one of the best scene ever on Banshee. It was so emotional Tom Pelphrey and Matt Servitto were both so true and perfect in it. Bunker was so touching when he said he was a guy like them, he was a nazi, he still had the signs on his body… Yet, his guilt, his desire to change and his acknowledgment what he’s done was bad, all of that made him different from them, it made him a better person. Brock totally deserved his badge as sheriff in that scene, he is always there to support the other deputies and even Hood. He can disagree with them but he is always there for them.

And Brock finally got the sheriff badge ! After hinting it several times since Siobhan's death, Hood finally resigned as Banshee sheriff and passed the torch to Brock. I’m so thrilled Hood stopped being the sheriff, even if it was a big part of the show, clearly it has been used too much and he couldn’t realistically stay as the sheriff after everything that happened. Now, Hood is free and I can’t wait to see what it will be like. It will be a new chapter for Hood and for Banshee.

While a lot things went going down in Banshee, including Bunker getting attacked at his home by his brother who started burning his tattoos… Oh, for a second I was afraid Banshee writers were pulling another Emmett on us. I'm glad he didn't die but I'm getting quite worried about his burns. Let's hope his brother will stop at one tattoo...
Anyways, in Philadelphia, things were also going crazy. After his kidnapping, Proctor came back to his true self and so he had to seek revenge on Frazer. He included Rebecca because he still wanted to teach her how to be him. I was so happy they weren’t cold or whatever, they’ still have that weird and complex relationship.
Of course, Burton was part of the mission. And they also invited Hector, the Salvadorian. Proctor chose to make business with him, offering him a wonderful sword and a free truck full of drugs. Their mission, with the preparation and the actual attack show simultaneously as Hood’s, was explosive and also epic. Proctor, Burton and Rebecca were so badass and classy. Their attack was cleaner than Hood and Gordon's. I was so thrilled to see Proctor back to his old habit and Hector was actually very fun too. Frazer didn’t really stand a chance against them. His men were quickly killed off and he understood he made a mistake attacking Proctor in the first place. Hector was cruel enough to miss Frazer’s decapitation on purpose, just to make him suffer more… Bad.

What a terrific and explosive season finale Banshee offered us. This season has been such an epic ride, so much have happened and yet there is so many things to look forward. I'm confident next season will be as good, maybe even better with all those changes coming ahead, Carrie will have to be responsible for her children, Hood won't be the sheriff, Job will be on his own.... Oh God, the wait has started !
What did you think of “We All Pay Eventually” ? Were you sad to see Gordon died ? Where do you think Job is ? What Hood will do now ? Hit the comments !

Banshee notes :
- Poor Deva, the last time she saw her dad he let her stay in jail. Hood hugging her put tears in my eyes
- The flashback about Hood were great. It was so weird to watch Antony Starr without his beard, made him look so young and different…
- Sugar wasted no time killing the next time !
- Job telling Leo to fuck ff to China... I love you Job
- So Hood is kinda like their fairy godmother... Cute
- "This is a good fucking sword".... Indeed !

  2. Overall I think this was probably Banshee's best season. Although, one thing I was looking foreword to never really happened to any great extent, and that is Hood and Deva bonding scenes. There was a great one in the first episode and in the fourth, but apart from that they were pretty scarce. I wanted more; I guess I'll have to wait until next season.

  5. I loved the finale. The fight scenes were epic and the action was non stop. I'm glad it was Gordon that died, and not one of my favorite's, like Hood, Carrie, Sugar or Job

  6. Great review. Thanks.

I was also sad to see Gordon killed. He was awesome in this episode. We definitely saw a new layer. Too bad it will never be pursued further.

I'm so glad they didn't kill off Job. At least this way if Hoon Lee needed time off for another role or something he can have it and still be able to come back to this series later. I'm sure Job will find a way to let Hood know where he is.

I loved the flash back with a beardless Hood. Anthony Starr looked so much younger.

They're going to have to go a long way to top top this episode next season.

  7. Once that scene started I knew it would be Gordon, Because Stowe was focused on Hood and his 2 other friends, he had no idea about someone else, so it had to be a surprise attack kill.

And Hood would stalled a bit because of the same situation stand off giving time for Gordon.

But yea it was good for him. Peace to the soul.
