Arrow - Did WB Pull The Plug On Deadshot?

28 Mar 2015

By the sound of Marc Guggenheim's response on tumblr, Deadshot can no longer be used on Arrow and is 'off the table'.

Comic Book Movie has more on the matter:

After the events that took place in the ending of this past Wednesday's Arrow, many fans speculated that the character of Floyd Lawton/Deadshot (Michael Rowe) would likely be coming back next season with a significant role due to the episode setting up the orginization H.I.V.E.. Now it seems that won't be the case as Arrow executive producer, Marc Guggenheim, was asked on his official tumblr whether there was a chance that Floyd Lawton/Deadshot would be a regular next season to which he responded with: "Unfortunately, Deadshot is off the table for the nonce". It now seems that the reason the events with Deadshot took place in this past Wednesday's episode are indeed what many fans speculated: Warner Bros. told the CW to pull the plug on Arrow's Deadshot as they have plans for him in David Ayer's Suicide Squad film.

While this news is pretty disappointing because it seemed like Deadshot would have played a significant part in the season four story arc. This also brings up a lot of questions as to how the DC cinematic universe will affect the CW's DC universe. Will characters that the CW has used like Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (Manu Bennet) and Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang (Nick E. Tarabay) be off limits now due to the film versions? Will the eventual movie based on The Flash affect the CW's television series? Only time will tell.

  1. I'm just glad he got such a great send off, but as I started to really like him he had to go.
But this sounds like a flashback is off the table as well. Sadly we won't get a proper Andy flashback than.

    ReplyDelete
  2. That freaking sucks. Deadshot is such a great character and he just transitioned from cool villain to awesome antihero. Wish we could see more of him on Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  3. So he is really dead. At least it was a great way die.
I wonder if they will change the complete Suicide Squad on Arrow and have no character that are gonna be in the movie. I really dont see what's teh problem on having the TV universe and The movie unievrse.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's ridiculous. if Cinematic Universe and TV Universe are Separate so DC should let them use every character or Stephen Amell's Green Arrow/Grant Gustin's Flash should be in The Justice League.

    ReplyDelete
  5. At this point I think the whole suicide squad was written off! Lyla quite her job, Amanda Waller barely appears anymore in present time and was kicked off from the past storyline as well.
It is a bit of a interest conflict cause people will compare the characters for sure. So it is a nice and clean cut at this point

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well that blows. Now we'll need someone else to anchor the Suicide Squad... unless DC pulled the plug on that too.

    ReplyDelete
  7. We don't know if DC told them to do this. Just speculation. Usually the producers and cast are vocal about this kind of thing but they're not this time, so maybe it was just a writers room decision. I think they'll find interesting characters to fill the places. Also Stephen and Grant appearing in Justice League just isn't doable thanks to their schedules.

...Well this brings up some valid points ... If a group or character is introduced on the main Arrow series or spin-offs that is also to be shown in the film(s) will , can , should WB pull the plug on the CW DC Universe as it relates to any and all story lines related to the individuals in question. And the answer sadly is yes. So that means that we could be getting no more than 2 - 3 seasons worth of Flash before its cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  9. not surprising just another example of slipshot nature that is DC.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Reading between the lines here isn't difficult. If this was a creative decision, it would have been mentioned if only to ward off this very type of speculation. DC probably would have asked Guggenheim to do so, actually. Additionally, if Deadshot were still available for use we would have been given a standard coy answer like "never say never," "there's always a possibility," or "we have a few ideas but nothing definite right now."

    ReplyDelete
  11. So what happened to keeping both the universe separate?

    ReplyDelete
  12. CALLED IT

told you WB/DC were douchebags in such situations.

And especially with Will Smith cast as Deadshot they certainly pulled the plug on him for good, not just on Arrow but in general

    ReplyDelete
  13. They probably are separate. DC likely wants as few competing versions of characters as possible. God forbid someone goes online and says they prefer the TV version of Deadshot to the Will Smith version.

    ReplyDelete
  14. they pulled the plug on the Suicide Squad with this move too, Deadshot was the most popular member of that team so...yeah...DCbags

    ReplyDelete
  15. They are, they just want to avoid confusion, because we people are stupid...ya know?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Still it is affecting the TVvers, nit happy about that, what could it mean for The Flash in the future!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Christopher DeBono28 March 2015 at 18:15

My guess is they'll shift the focus to another Flash eventually. Probably Wally. Barry will still be around but off-screen.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So it's separate as long as the TV version doesn't threaten The Movie's Character's popularity?
    Convenient logic!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Or bruise some star's ego, yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  20. How are they going to explore HIVE and Andy's murder without Deadshot??? Starting to feel season 4 is going to be as solid as season 3 has been so far.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The thing is That suicide Squad had one decent and kickass character in the form of Deadshot IMO and they killed him for good. They might as well drop the whole thing now!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm afraid of even thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That may have been DC's doing as well.

    ReplyDelete
  24. thank you for reminding me of that awful casting, I had managed to wipe it from my brain till now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. my comment is not just for Deadshot. they couldn't have Ted Kord because DC told them it's off limit (They have other plans for this character)so they have ray palmer acting like Ted Kord. They can't even Mention Gotham or Metropolis.
Stephen and Grant couldn't be in JL because DC TV and Cinema are separate, their schedules is a little part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think they already did. That's probably why Lyla retired. She was the link between the show and the SS.

    ReplyDelete
  27. ..and Cupid still lives! That awful character!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Some bullshit this is.

    ReplyDelete
  29. He's the reason I started to like the SS in the first place!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Deadshot was great :( This makes Arrow a bit worse for me :D and IMO The Flash is better than Arrow. Arrow is still Great, but The Flash is Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  31. To negative to soon! ^_^

At the end Deadshot just pulled the trigger while the interesting part is to see what Andy did to make HIVE execute him.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Because I'm really annoyed! I've been waiting for the HIVE story since 2x06 and I feel robbed. I liked Deadshot and I wanted to see him more. I love his scenes with Dig.

    ReplyDelete
  33. of course there are gonna be comparisons, but not being able to use a character on TV (cause movies will always have the advantage) it's a let down not only for the producers of the tv show but for the fans.
What are they gnna do when the Flash movie comes out? DC will ask the producers to end The Flash tv show cause they dont want people to compare the two of them?.
At this point the producers on the tv shows are gonna lose characters and i guess they will have to invent their our versions and then see fans complaining why they cant use these or that character.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In the end we all feel bad for the writers of the show and know the DC movies will be shit anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  35. she's the leader now :v

    ReplyDelete
  36. I liked him as well, but his story came full circle. He died as a honest man and finally stopped being AW puppet. And even if we got him back I doubt he'll interact with Dig in any way.
I still hope we'll get an early S04 episode with him as SS airs in 2016, but doubt it after this.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Can a squad still be called a squad when it consists of one person? Now it's called "The Suicide..." what? Actually that's it, "The Suicide". That pretty much describes it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. well, seeing as how Lyla quit and it looks as if Waller will be killed, you can bet the SS on this show is done for.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Of course it sucks, especially after the great story he got last week. With this whole movie machine, Supergirl and Gotham I'm bit concerned about what stories will the shows be allowed to use. But I hope the creative team will do a good enough job.
I'm not really afraid about the Flash, for now. I just think it is stupid for them to use the Barry Allen character again when there are multiple Flashes out there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I was hoping he'd help Diggle with HIVE, Dig already mentioned that Deadshot might get an early perdon. There was this bond between them and Deadshot helping Dig take down the people who killed Andy would've been a very good SL.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Uhhh didn't thought about that possibility but that would've been to Dig centric and sadly Arrow doesn't do Dig-centric to much read at all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I feel sorry for the whole team now! #KillCupid.

    ReplyDelete
  43. That's what's really bothering me. Season 4 was supposed to be Dig's season (FINALLY!).

    ReplyDelete
  44. Doubt they would go that far. Especially with GG's popularity.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i just think it is because most people knows about Barry Allen being The Flash, it's the same with Spiderman there are like 3 spidermans right? and they still use Peter Parker.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I still hope he gets more focus in S04 and Dig gets more solo missions and does stuff on his own.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah most likely! But that actor they've chose! Ezra something !? Biggest face palm ever!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not sure, I used to be convinced that the Flash would run into the same issues Smallville did (DC wanting to cancel it in favour of Superman Returns) but with Ra's Al Guhl being permitted to appear on Arrow I thought they eased up but with last Weeks episode of Arrow I learned that DC is still dull as f**k (they just consider themselves "above" the TV audience)

    ReplyDelete
  49. you really thing a TV actors popularity matters to DC? Gustin isn't even a fly on the wall to WB.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Waller probably isn't going to come back anytime soon either

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think he will do good, remember everyone was hating on the guy that does The Flash (i forgot his name) because he did Glee and another series and look how it turned out.

    ReplyDelete
  52. not like we'll ever see Cupid again either, she wasn't too popular with fans and seeing how we already lost Deadshot and are probs going to say byebye to Waller swell...

    ReplyDelete
  53. don't think HIVE will be explored much, now, more than ever, I'm convinced that HIVE will be dealt with this season.

Waller turns out to have been "HIVE" all along and is killed by Diggle, who in return is shot by Waller. Diggle survives but is severely injured, Oliver has him, Lyla and Sara relocate and we'll never see Dig again -,-

    ReplyDelete
  54. Not to DC, but to the TV show as a whole. He is pretty much carrying the show, like Amell does for Arrow, and replacing him would be a really tough call.

    ReplyDelete
  55. that seems a lot to cram into the last 5 episodes.\... but after last cram fest its possible.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The current Flash is Gustin Grant.
Really don't know what to expect from Ezra. He seems completely out of role. But we'll have to wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm betting he will come back as another enhanced DC character. The only question is who !
William Shatner seems to think Borg.

    ReplyDelete
  58. This is such crap. Deadshot was an awesome character and would have continued to be great on Arrow. If DC would've gone the Marvel route and kept everything connected, this wouldn't be an issue at all. Color me severely disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Arrow has Merlyn, so Arrow wins. But effect wise The Flash has the upper hand.

Now...writing-wise Flash is a lot less sophisticated than Arrow though

    ReplyDelete
  60. During one of the Midseason reviews here I went into a argument with people about which show is better. And that was while Flash was still airing mostly dull episodes, which didn't differ much from each other.
Personally I think Arrow is stronger! Flash has that effect-Timetraveling advantage but still has other issues.
Meryln and Felicity are really tipping the glass over to the Arrow side. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  61. Flash is simply more lighthearted and easy going, it tells its stories in a simple but fun way while with Arrow almost everything has a darker ulterior motive. The Flash only has Dr. Wells storyline serving a deeper plot but that's fine.

And yeah, Arrow is certainly stronger with its characters. I like the Flash cast but I'm not feeling them. I wouldn't give a damn if Caitlin, Eddie, Joe, Barry or Cisco died (I didn't even twitch an eye when Reverse Flash killed him). They're likable but not relatable.

Meanwhile I LOVE to hate Merlyn, hate myself that I'm annoyed with Felicity ATM (Olicitys fault), currently am in love with Laurel...hell...I'd care a lot more about Ra's dying unless any Flash character.

    ReplyDelete
  62. this is...pretty much spot on about that situation

    ReplyDelete
  63. So Deadshot is off the table. Now that Lyla quit and they showed Waller injured this is the end of SS. So much for creative freedom when the TV and movie universe are separate. This is such bullshit. If they use this excuse to not let Manu Bennett come back I will be seriously pissed. What are they going to do now. Remove the Flash show when the movie comes out? They should have some confidence in the material that they are putting out.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would upvote you a 100 times if I could.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Travis Crincoli28 March 2015 at 19:32

wouldnt "The Flash" have run its course by the time the movie version comes out? also, since the flash has the best ratings of any CW show in a while, i think CW would tell WB "NO!" in all caps when they ask, because, technically you shouldnt be able to take back permission for something once its given.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My guess is Ezra Miller won't play Barry Allen. He might play Wally West and the TV show will delay the introduction of Wally West until the movie comes out.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Aw puppet?...

    ReplyDelete
  68. It does not help that deadshot is the only connection to HIVE.........I wonder if they have to scrap the plans for season 4 or find another way to get information.......hmm. If Deadshot can't get a physical appearance hopefully a phone call can be done

    ReplyDelete
  69. I don't think we will be seeing SS at all again. Maybe not even ARGUS. They will remove Waller as Viola Davis is playing Waller in the movies. Next season there won't be any ARGUS and will concentrate on HIVE. We may get them back in season 5.

    ReplyDelete
  70. perhaps deadshot/Diggle connection should have made done early with Diggle getting the HIVE information he needs in a earlier episode or something.

    ReplyDelete
  71. May be in season 5. Or they may kill her off this season.

    ReplyDelete
  72. there are still many DC organization that could replace ARGUS so that is a good thing. I sure Lyla will get employment very soon

    ReplyDelete
  73. Is it confirmed Ezra Miller is doing Barry Allen?

    ReplyDelete
  74. He was great in perks of being a wall flower. Don't know how he will fit as The Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I love that Arrow is rough and edgy! Flash is entertaining but it misses some direction and pushes to many DC characters at once and doesn't focus on their characters on hand.

I like you forgot Iris to mention, So Irrelevant! I care more about Helena or Nyssa that I care for Iris and Eddie.

I mean it's tough to compare cause Arrow is in S03 but still I was much more invested with Arrow back in S01 than now with Flash.

I didn't know you were a Laurel fan atm, nice to hear. Can't wait to see how they will conclude Arrow S03.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't think there will be a mention of any SS characters or ARGUS or Waller in season 4. They will concentrate on HIVE without ARGUS. Maybe in season 5 we will get back ARGUS once the movie SS is established. They won't make such a drastic move if they were bringing them back next season. It is so annoying. I hope Deathstroke is not off the table.

    ReplyDelete
  77. That way his role was announced, at least as far I know.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The worst part is we may never get the flashback of Andy Diggle get killed by deadshot perhaps only the aftermath only

    ReplyDelete
  79. No clue! I assume he'll appear in Dawn of Justice or Justice league before the Flash. So we'll see!

    ReplyDelete
  80. This is so true. I got attached to everyone of Arrow's characters so fast. The Flash is really fun but none of the characters feel irreplacable to me except for Joe West.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Considering that Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle are the three most popular characters on Arrow. I don't think The Flash have three well liked character that people love right away? I think Barry and Joe are two but who the third?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ugh. The more I think about it more I am angry. I was expecting that flashback in suicidal tendencies. I hope they get permission to do one flashback episodes explaining the death of Andy Diggle.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Third could be Cisco. People love him and recently he is being appreciated more. But for me they could change the whole team tommorow, ship away Iris and Eddie, even kill Wells and bring in another guy as RF.. Nothing would change. I will still enjoy the show.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Smallville ran for 10 seasons, Supernatural is still going. If the ratings remain almost stable and actors want to go on doing it CW won't want to pull the plug on The Flash. WB owns CW so I think they have more power in this scenario.

    ReplyDelete
  85. The issue with using Wally or Bart is that their orgin story is connected with Barry.
So the best option is probably Jay Garrick, the very first Flash.

But still according to this article it's Barry Allen.
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/warner-bros-flash-movie-star-741019

    ReplyDelete
  86. There's no confirmation of which Flash the movies are going to use. Everybody is assuming Barry Allen but I feel Ezra Miller is going to play Wally West.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Totally but that's what makes both shows so different from each other, wich is great.

Lol, I did. Not that I dislike her, she (along with everybody) is completely irrelevant to me. I liked Rick Cosnett on TVD but Eddie is just boring as well (especially now that we know he won't ever be the Reverse Flash, he's pretty much Flash's Tommy, the guy we think will become the archnemisis only to be revealed as the actual villains younger relative).

I'm always trying to stay positive on Laurel, she got so much undeserving flack in the past that I just feel like I can't ever truly hate her again (same with Ray, I'm not particullary fond of him but my genuine hate for ships turns him a lot more likable to me). But currently Laurel is at an all-time high in terms of awesomeness (wich isn't much but at least turns her fun to watch.....buuuuut I loved that scene with Malcolm taunting her....I might like her but he's freaking god)

I'm dreading the s3 finale a bit, DC seems to tear through it's franchises and the possibility of my favourites dying is always in the room. I'm a very bitter watcher, if you kill someone I like more than others I'll be pissed for quite a while (didn't watch TVD when Elijah wasn't on after season 3, only caught up whenever he returned)

    ReplyDelete
  88. doubt she'll make it up to 4. Easy way to kill her in the season finale.

Waller turns out to have ordered the hit on Andy (and is operating HIVE as a sub-agency from the midst of ARGUS), Diggle wants revenge, kills her

    ReplyDelete
  89. I still believe Ezra Miller will end up being Bart Allen. I have nothing to back up my theory, but it's just a feeling I have.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I really hate this "diluting the properties" nonsense. But Hey, if Deadshot is off the table, maybe they can transition Floyd into another character?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Totally agreed, it's not only childish but hurting their own brand.

I do get why Marvel is pusing away the F4 franchise. Let's be honest here: there's a LOT of negative mojo surrounding the new movie and NO company every wants to suffer from another companies stupidity. As for X-Men, I see this as a way to lower the franchises value so Marvel can get it back cheaper at some point

Deathstroke already has been chopped, you really think with the immense popularity of Manu Bennetts portrayal he wouldn't have been in the main cast this season? There certainly were some behind-the-scenes issues going on about the character (wich is one of the most popular DC properties these days).

If they cut out Deadshot they certainly cut Deathstroke as well (who is rumored to have a part in Suicide Squad as well)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lol Merlyn. Look, I love Barrowman, but this season I just want someone to smother him with a pillow and just be done with it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. No clue!
The only logical thing in my mind is that he probably will be one of the first versions cause of the Justice League and being part of creating it. Not sure who comic wise was a founder out of the Flash family.

    ReplyDelete
  94. lol, I get that. He's my fav character though. No way he could get bad enough for me to want him gone :P

    It`s unconditional love ^^

But on the plus side: when the Ra's arc is done and Merlyn is still around they can finally mold him into the assassin with a love/hate relationship to Oliver from the comics. Always hoped for them to translate their respect based rivalry onto the show.

    ReplyDelete
  95. So much for DC TV having freedom and not tied down like AOS. Guess it was too good to be true lol

    ReplyDelete
  96. Ya so much for DC TV having freedom and not tied down like AOS. Guess it was too good to be true lol

    ReplyDelete
  97. Rick Cosnett was such a great character to hate in VD. Really awful! I thought Eddie would go into that direction as well be a douche and go up against Barry with a small and funny rivalry building up. Very quickly they trimmed him down to Iris puppy. I really hope this upcoming story won't be to forced. I still hope he won't get cut off and be slightly more interesting along the way. P.S. I assume Wells is from the future so Eddie is his older relative. #confusingTimelines
I'm a Katie fan and really for her while people were trashing Laurel. I agree her character is going upwards since midseason and she is just great. I hope she will get more scenes with TA characters and won't be reduced to Nyssa scenes.
The only character I could see dying at this point is Roy, the others are safe in my mind. I think thry will turn up the heat in those last 7 episodes and end with some interesting twists. Can't wait to see.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The first film watched with Ezra was Perks and his performance was awesome, I have heard good things about his other films so he is definitely a very good actor.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I probably like Gustin to much and am a bit redundant to Ezra. But we'll see what he'll offer as Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  100. What a freaking waste of some amazing story telling potential. F*CK!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. First Harley Queen was off limits, and now Deadshot. Seriously, WB politics to keep the TV and movie universe apart are nonsense

    ReplyDelete
  102. Historical_Materialist28 March 2015 at 21:14

I'm going to say something/make an argument that I know will not be popular here but I hope people don't take personally or offense to. Its simply an observation.

You said "I do get why Marvel is pusing away the F4 franchise. Let's be honest here: there's a LOT of negative mojo surrounding the new movie and NO company every wants to suffer from another companies stupidity."

That sentiment pretty much sums up more or less what WB and the editorial and creative bosses at DC Comics feel about the CW network and how they treat DC Comics properties. They're embarrassed by the CW.

Basically WB believes that the CW shows and their stories are the kids table at the party. While the children bicker and argue about OMG!! and who's shipping who, the grown ups are busy bringing real comic stories to life. That's basically how they feel which is why Tom Welling was never seriously considered for Superman Returns or Man of Steel and why they're shutting down Deadshot and Suicide Squad.

    ReplyDelete
  103. What I meant was they might make her go mia this season and leave her open ended. Then after the suicide squad movie is out and gone they can decide whether to bring her back or not.

You may be right since we saw her injured in the paley fest sizzle reel she could bite the dust this season.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Nicolás Caballero Mühlbach28 March 2015 at 21:35

    this ^^^

    ReplyDelete
  105. That would take a long time to put off Wally West. The movie is due in 2018. I am wondering if there is a time thing going onninbthe movies. Apparently it is expected we will have the Batman character were Joker has killed Robin. so maybe Ezra could be playing Bart Allen.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Warner Brothers owns 50% of the CW. If they are "embarrassed" they wouldn't be in the process of allowing a 3rd TV show.

Deadshot being killed off is mainly because of one reason: Will Smith. Don't think for one second he didn't know there was a TV Deadshot. His management knew. Which was probably part of the deal that as long as he is playing Deadshot no-one else can.

    ReplyDelete
  107. It just b proves they do not have much koordination. If they had known which way the Suicide Squad movie is going before announcing it, they would not have given permission for it on a TV show in the first place. I have to say if you think how much changes they had to adjust on S3 (Devon Asking, Wildcat, probably suicide Squad), they did their best. Maybe Guggenheim finally gets not to reveal to many spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ya Geoff Johns looking like a huge liar right now. But I guess that's what happens when you get someone with an ego like Will Smith to play a character

    ReplyDelete
  109. I hope so, of if I am leaning more towards. Bart Allen. Maybe the movie plays in a completely different timelin. Maybe they are doing Crisis

    ReplyDelete
  110. Well i'm not surprise that what happen when you have tv shows and a lot movies in the works not taking place in the same universe

    ReplyDelete
  111. Historical_Materialist28 March 2015 at 22:13

Of course they'd allow a 3rd TV show. They still want to make money. The're a business after all. But they don't want what the CW is doing to lower the revenue potential of the movie business.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Geoff Johns looking like an absolute liar right now. But I guess this is what happens when you get Will Smith. Probably demanded that no-one other than him could portray the character

    ReplyDelete
  113. See, even that is tricky because I've heard we'll either get Hal Jordan or John Stewart. If it's John, then much like Marvel Studios, we won't be seeing the REAL original members.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I still don't understand Marvel's reasoning though. They're trying to push away comic book characters. Marvel Studios doesn't need their name to be in the new FF reboot film, but when it comes to the comics...it's just silly to be segregating these characters of of your universe.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Deadshot showing up in a few episodes a season does not lower the potential of a movie that comes out next summer.

Plain and simple it's because Will Smith wouldn't allow it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I don't read comics so i have no clue-What is this HIVE everyone keeps talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yeah heard about that as well. Who knows what they'll do. Either way I look forward to the movies.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think this is one of the reasons why Arrow has been so up and down this season. DC/WB are interfering so much (didn't let them use Blue Beetle, got rid of Deadshot and the SS) that the writers are scrambling to change their plans. Honestly, DC is so screwed. They're banking everything on this Batman vs Superman movie when the Man of Steel movie didn't even do that well. IF these movies fail, they're going to screw themselves over twice if they continue interfering with the shows. TV is the one of the few things DC has over on Marvel. They can't allow themselves to screw that up too.

  119. Remember season 2 Russia episode "Keep your enemies closer". In that episode when Diggle lets Floyd Lawton walk away without killing him he says to Diggle it was H.I.V.E. who hired him to kill Andy Diggle. In last episode the woman in red dress who hires Deadshot and gave Andy's photo is a H.I.V.E. member.

In DC comics HIVE is a super villain organization which was a huge villain mainly of Teen titans. There are several incarnations of it. At one point Gorilla Grodd was a member. In New52 HIVE is responsible in turning Caitlin Snow into Killer Frost. She was also a member of HIVE.

  120. I don't follow hollywood actors. So is Will Smith that egotistic? Man he has some huge influence. Honestly this is so unnecessary. We audience are intelligent enough to differentiate between movie and TV characters. If it is about comparison even after killing TV deadshot there will be some.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Caitlin-OMG!NOOO!
Anyway, thanks a lot for the info,i was getting puzzled!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Warner has a history of doing this. When The Batman cartoon started airing the Justice League cartoon was banned from using Batman-characters other than Batman himself. Also Smallville was banned from ever using Bruce Wayne and Batman. It really sucks cause Deadshot has been a really important character on Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  123. So Robin is already dead? But starting movie Flash with Bart Allen sounds really stupid. If they start with Barry or Jay Garrick they could do movies for such a long time. Bart is the last of the speedsters right. DC is such a mess. I love the DC characters but MCU wins every time.

    ReplyDelete
  124. True about the Flash.
Regarding Robin this seems to be a high speculation regarding the probable timelines of Joker in Suicide Squad and the direction of the more matured Batman for SvB.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I get that DC's TV and Movie Universes are separate, but I HATED when Warners start cutting the TV Universe off at the knees just to bolster up the Movie Universe.

    ReplyDelete
  126. That's bullshit. DC movies don't play into DC TV like Marvel does. This is WB being complete assholes. When Batman Vs Superman bombs in comparison to Avengers:Ultron and even Fast 7 (I know it's not a comic movie, I'm talking in terms of box office numbers) It will make me happy.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I agree. On the Flash, I care mainly about Barry and Joe West, and I like Cisco when he's begin funny.. Aside from those, the writers really haven't done enough to make me care that much about the other characters. Even Iris, who I like, really hasn't done much to make character indispensible. It doesn't seem to hurt my enjoyment of the show....but I do wish they'd do a better job with character development.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I'd say Cisco, but he's more of a mixed bag. He has his biggest shining moments, when he's playing the adorable dork (like in the Arrow crossover episodes), or when he was doing that demonstration at the police force. However, in the majority of episodes, we don't always get that side of him.

    ReplyDelete
  129. definitely, i guess in the battle with DC vs Marvel. Marvel won

    ReplyDelete
  130. DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH WB?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what about the Multiverse?!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. What do you mean marvel won the only thing marvel got going is the movies that just about it

    ReplyDelete
  132. yep like any other mystery we would want to see the moment Andy is killed not right after.....I sure the mystery why he died will be a season long. I think Arrow season 4 will have a mystery element again like season 1 with the Queen Gambit and the undertaking conspiracy

    ReplyDelete
  133. I f*cking knew it!!! I knew it had to do with that f*cking movie. This is such bullshit!

    ReplyDelete
  134. she won't turn evil she CAN'T!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  135. but why, Smallville had this problem and they weren't as restricted

    ReplyDelete
  136. they can't mention Gotham or Metropolis? what the hell?!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. but what i don't get is that they said there was a Multiverse

    ReplyDelete
  138. You ask too many questions when it comes to obvious stuff. And Smallville used everyone under the sun, so idk what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  139. right?! they promised us a Multiverse and he's turning his back on that

    ReplyDelete
  140. I think it's less of a permanent move and more of a sign from Marvel that it really wants its properties back. They've been trying hard to get their franchises together

Because currently the only real trump DC has in the market is that they own their entire character-lineup unlike Marvel. So obviously they'll want to close that gap by getting all of their properties back and segregating the X-Men and letting them fade into obscurity is especially needed.

While Sony financially doesen't profit too much from its franchises these days (TASM 2 was a moderate success, continuing the downwards trend of that franchise) however FOX is making the big bucks with the X-franchise.

DoFP has made a worldwide gross of up to $800mil (plus-minus a few bucks) with a $200mil budget. Meanwhile MoS made a roughly $100mil less despite a bigger budget. (just showing in what relations we're playing here) btw. TASM1 made $730mil with an even higher budget that MoS, TASM1 barely broke even with its budget domestically

    ReplyDelete
  141. not Batman and Wonder Woman

    ReplyDelete
  142. because Bryan Singer jumped to Smallvilles aid. He didn't want to upset fans more with Superman Returns and pushed DC to leave the show untouched (however Batman Begins did restrict Smallville, they had to rewrite Ian Somerhalders character from Bruce Wayne to a new villain)

    ReplyDelete
  143. and SHIELD and maybe Carter

    ReplyDelete
  144. Smallville was PRE Superman. There was no need to use them. That's just what people wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Smallville was almost canned because of Superman Returns, then Singer said "don't make dem fans more mad" and they listened.

They did have to push back on some characters though (Bruce Wayne aka. Adam Knight and if I remember correctly at some point they wanted to use Wonder Woman but were overthrown when early developement for NBCs Wonder Woman started)

    ReplyDelete
  146. there was, they even wanted teenage Bruce to join the show...

    ReplyDelete
  147. Superman returns sucked so badly. IDEC about that POS movie. And knowing how big Bruce and Diana were/was/is, it really didn't "crush my heart" that they weren't ever used. Those are huge roles to fill, they don't work on tv anyway. Which has been proven time and time again.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Yeah, and look how that turned out. = / I rest my case.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Shield almost got cancel in their first season last year carter just a minseries

    ReplyDelete
  150. Well, personally. Yah. He may not be, but that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  151. well...that in a rather significant way though

Marvel is pushing out more movies than DC per year with each movie making roughly 30% more than DCs latest exploits

    DC 2010-2014: 8 movies (IM 2/3, Thor 1/2, Cap 1/2, Avengers, GotG) worldwide gross: +/- 7bil

Marvel 2010-2014: 4 movies (Jonah Hex, GL, TDKR, MoS) worldwide gross: +/- 2bil

that's a significant gap there and TV shows aren't going to fill these holes.

As for Marvel and TV, they messed up big time with AoS, however it appears like the Netflix era might change that

however TV doesen't make a huge difference there, it makes money but barely enough to even break even with its budget.
TV has a longer lifecycle than movies, you have the initial ad-earnings wich aren't too much, then home video wich is the main source there, followed by syndication

A shows full worth will only be clear 10 years post its initial airing

    ReplyDelete
  152. I agree on that but we don't know how it would've ended if they let the writers do as they wanted. Maybe Somerhalder would've fit the part (I really don't want to judge the guy, liked him on LOST, HATE him on TVD...) but DC had to intervene because.....Nolan

    ReplyDelete
  153. Well, I actually liked it. Was in tone with the Donner flicks and Routh did a good job (know you hate me saying this but...he did). The movies biggest flaw was the long running-time. There's time for overexposition and Returns certainly did take itself a lot.

Bruce, yeah, that kid on Gotham makes me want to castrate Bruce Wayne so we'll never get to see his demonic offspring (if this Bruce is already bitchy I'd hate to see Damien Wayne....)
I actually liked Palickis performance in WWs pilot (well, judging from the leaked pilot, VFX were unfinished but I guess these were the finalized performance shots)

    ReplyDelete
  154. I really DON'T see it. And as much as I love my baby Ian I hated him as Adam. And that was years ago, so I'm not gonna dwell on "what could've been". As far as Nolan, I'm gladdddd about that. Bruce works on the big screen, never in TV. (Ftr I liked him in Lost)

    ReplyDelete
  155. Once dc put out movies like marvel that gap wont be that big. If the rest of marvel movies are like iron man 3 they might have a probelm that was bad, it made a lot money but dont expect them to be so lucky next time

    ReplyDelete
  156. oh right duh my bad LOL so i guess they were lucky but now it's just messed up and it makes no sense, it's not like they crossover with the movies: it's not Marvel and what about the Multiverse?

    ReplyDelete
  157. Heavy sigh. Ya know sometimes I wonder how it would be if we met IRL. B/c I think we'd have one of those friendships where we disagree on everything, and argue til the sun comes up, yet somehow, there's a silver lining, and you're still apart of my life. = /....I imagine 70% of the time I'd want to hit you, and the other 25% I'd want to ignore you. But that 5% is what saves me. (And that's not sexual tension, that's just Tension) True Story. Lol

As far as Bruce on Gotham. I want to hit that kid with a brick. Just, Boom!

    ReplyDelete
  158. what do you mean? it would've been Ian Somerhalder

    ReplyDelete
  159. I don't want to fall into the DC vs. Marvel fanbase war here but Marvel got the nose up for over a decade now. I didn't even add the movies Marvel only produced (X-Men franchise, F4)

DC got slow with making movies until interest in their heroes faded. Batman V Superman was never planned, it was a decision made because MoS underperformed.

Logically speaking DC won't catch up until 2020. Since they need to establish franchises until then and IF they have the quality of MoS I don't expect anything good from that either.

Personally I loved DC movies up until Batman Begins, what followed I can barely even recognize as DC. The look my dad had while watching The Dark Knight was heartbreaking

    ReplyDelete
  160. yeah i read that, they really shouldn't have written as basically Bruce not Batman but Bruce: his backstory, his tech skills and his martial arts skills

    ReplyDelete
  161. "Would've" as in It wasn't, as in I rest my case. one, didn't work. Two: didn't need him. Three: I REST MY CASE!

    ReplyDelete
  162. you really hated him huh?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Noooooo. My personal feelings on Adam have nothing to do with what iI'm discussing. But yes, I disliked Adam. If you're talking about Ian...Umm have you seen my icon? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  164. oh Shannon, believe me I'd be more likable IRL. The internet just gives me a way to leave out my inner geek, in real life I'm one of these guys that smiles at you, nods and slowly drifts back to cleavage glances. I probably wouldn't argue

But hey, we both love TO. Silver lining right there :P

You know, the thing about Routh is the way you approach him, I didn't expect anything for Returns and was quite okay with his performance, the next thing I saw him in was Dylan Dog and he rocked that one. And on Arrow he's quite okay as well. I'm just taking extra satisfaction through the Olicity-obstacle thing

I'm usually against child abuse but in this case I'd hand you that brick in the name of human decency.

    ReplyDelete
  165. What i read if MoS did good enough they were doing superman vs batman not the other way around i dont know where you got that info.the movie did fine money wise. I'm just sick of people acting like marvel cant do any wrong and the same people acting like dc cant anything right. I dont want to get in dc vs marvel with you also. but i do respect your opinion i hope know that

    ReplyDelete
  166. No, I'D be more likeable in person. I'd definitely have more patience that's for sure. I'd make you crack up with my sarcasm. And although I do like to argue, i'd probably try to avoid a confrontation. However, if i didn't, I do know when to stop, and you'd get tired, yet still find me extremely adorable. = D Then we'd go for pizza or something. But the internet brings out more of my bitchy side. Than my good side. Shrugs. Eh, the site is used to it by now. Lol

I don't like BR at all. Didn't like him in SR, didn't like him in Zach and Miri, (idr if i saw Dylan Dog) i I don't like his interviews, he's not attractive In the least bit, quite irritating, and iI won't even get started on Arrow. I can't with him. And i Felt SR sucked in general not just his performance. Just ugh!

Hahahaha, he's right up there with Beiber for me. Well ok, maybe not that bad, but you get it.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I feel weird saying this: but this is good to know. It explains a LOT! I've been to several of the Arrow panels at Comic-Cons, and suspected from the answers Marc and Greg gave to questions about new characters that they were under heavy restrictions by DC. But out of their Professionalism (I guess) neither of the producers laid the blame on DC.

The DC restrictions also clears up some choices made by the Arrow writers--possibly brought about after the season had been "blocked"--with character development. Again, I was simply blaming the writers, and now I know it could be DC's interference.

That said, I understand DC's business approach. They're sitting in their offices watching Marvel take truck loads of money to the bank off of their movie franchises...and say "Why not us?" And movie money is greater and more immediate than TV money, so the short-gain mentality of MBAs takes hold and there goes all of your TV characters.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I like DC on TV better, Marvel for movies.

    ReplyDelete
  169. It truly breaks my heart if this is true that Warner is pulling characters from their TV universe for the cinematic universe. DC has one thing undoubtably working for them with great success and that is the Flash/Arrow universe on the CW, I cannot even fathom why they would want to endanger that success by binding their writers imaginations. The Suicide Squad is a big enough platform in arrow to hold it's own series if they wanted to take it in that direction. A rotating cast of characters and an easy enough serial and procedural mix in it's heart with mission style plotlines. I could see no wrong at expanding and extending the life of the suicide squad, not squandering it. They should be making it bigger and better for the fans. The fans will always compare different versions, however if both the cinematic and television versions are done very well and inventive, the question that they ask changes from which is better, to which do I like better, Because the fans will likely enjoy both for different reasons. By eliminating the television version if the fans do not like the film version at all it will taint there view of the product if it were to return in any way to television in the future.

I would gladly watch and have two different versions without an issue, however the idea of them pulling content from one of my all-time favourite shows so that they can expand the cinematic experience, that truly makes me sick and makes me question how much I would want to watch the film version if at all. Whoever is running DC is not doing the right decisions and they are bending to pressure from Marvel. If they were to sit back and look at things in their own way, take their time and make their own products, they could be the biggest company out there. Instead they squander the content they have in order to make their future content possibly recieved better. Truth is if they had enough faith in there product they wouldn't care how many versions were out in the world because they would believe that comparisons wouldn't dampen their product.

  170. yeah that's what i meant: ADAM, not Ian LOL

  171. As long as it is not done like who killed Sara mystery I will be okay with it. I wonder what Andy got mixed up with for an organization like HIVE wanting to kill him? Will Carly make a come back next season?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Honestly I am okay with the way Flash is except I need them to improve Iris. I love her but she needs more development. I am happy I am not attached to it like I am with Arrow. One obsession is more than enough.

    ReplyDelete
  173. it a possibility she involve with HIVE but I don't think they go there. who knows....I think Carly should come back to be inform that justice has been serve for Andy Diggle death....

    ReplyDelete
  174. what should they do to maintain a mystery/conspiracy anyway......would be fun to see Oliver use listening device arrow again....

    ReplyDelete
  175. At the least Carly should be there for Andy Diggle flashbacks.

First season was rough at the beginning....but seriously...can't beat Inhuman storyline!

  177. I am disappointed. I always liked Deadshot and would have liked the character to return. I

  179. I've been trying to be patient and understanding in the way Warner handles their DC properties, but they are making it really really hard for me to keep doing so...
