POLL: What do you think of this new Poll software? *Updated*

12 Feb 2015

Update: 12th February Based on your great feedback so far. A couple of the most requested features have now been added.

1) You can now click View results to see the results without voting
2) You can now see the # of votes of each option by hovering over when the results are displayed

Please let us know of any more feedback/comments.

Hey All,

We're looking to potentially use some new software for all our polls here at SpoilerTV and we need your thoughts/comments and help testing it.

The new Poll software has a number of features that our existing software does not. These include

- You now have the ability to go back and change your vote in case you change your mind or made a mistake.
- Works better on mobiles and tablets.
- Better sharing options built in.
- Better themeing and configuration options.
- New Poll Types of "Head to Head" polls (These will be great in all our Cups and Show competitions)
- Better facility to add graphics/images to polls.

So please check out the new style poll below and let us know what you think.

Please if you have a mobile or tablet give it as test on that so make sure it works properly.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or you find something not working, please let us know in the comments below.

  1. Looks great.

The only suggestion I would have is that it should also display the number of votes as well as the percentages on the results bar

  2. Love it! Looks quite good!
I would maybe just use a bold on the question letter and maybe even the answers.

  3. Agreed, I'll see if that's an option or something they can add.

  4. Love the look of the polls.

I agree with others, I think it needs to have the number of votes plus the % on the bars. People are very used to seeing that so that would help in the transition to the new format.

I love that when I return to the poll that it shows the results, rather than polldaddy in which it makes it look like I have not voted.

And it's very cool that you can change votes. I often miss an option on the long USD polls and would love to change my votes etc.

P.S Works well on my iphone

  5. Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if that is something that can be configured or if not suggested to the developers.

  6. Looks great. But I see 54% have voted for awesome, and yet it seems 100% have voted awesome due to the length of the line. This was not the case with Polldaddy, because the line would be about half of what it currently is. I realize this sounds very vague, but I hope you know what I mean.

  7. I noticed that too but I kind of prefer it. Like in some polls in polldaddy the bar would be empty but it would have a few votes. This way the bar can never be empty unless it has 0 votes. I hope that makes sense!

  8. Yep, I know what you mean. It does however make it easier to spot who is winning visually when there are lots of options that are all close.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yep, I agree. I had not even noticed that myself ;)

  10. It looks a lot better :) Like most other comments though it would be nice if it included the number of votes as well. I was going to say a 'view results' option as well since I used that a lot in polls I didn't actually vote in, but I can just vote something random and click 'change vote' after so it's not really needed. It also works fine on android phone and tablet.

  11. Awesome looking poll but I have one small suggestion.

Could you change the font color on the 'change vote' button to a darker color?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, it seems that the Total Votes is a popular feature ;)

  13. Thanks @ToniL Yep, if/when we come to use these polls we'll look into "theming" the polls better to match our colors/design etc , The poll above is just the standard default template.

I agree about the lightness :)

Thanks for testing on your tablet.

  14. I agree it's easier for huge polls, like the show of the year mega poll which had a lot of options that were all close. The What did you think polls are usually won by the option 'awesome' (or in some very rare cases 'awful' wins). I don't mind either way, but I just coudn't help but notice it.

  15. Oh I love this. It looks great, crisp and so much easier to share.
I tried it on my laptop first, then I tried it on my tablet. It's the same IP address and wouldn't let me vote but I had no issues opening. I also had no problems using it on my phone.
I agree with bluebomb, the colors are a little light for people with poor eyesight, like mine, but I already use your dark theme. It's not really a big deal, just a little light.
I also agree that seeing the number of votes along with the % would be nice, if it's doable.
I love it! Thanks for keeping the positive changes coming.

  16. Thanks for the detailed feedback. We shall pass that on.

  17. Works really well on my Android phone and much better than polldaddy did.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Looks good. The only thing I see that was better on PollDaddy is that you could check the poll results there without having to vote. Sometimes the poll would be about a show I no longer watch so I couldn't vote but I still liked to see how others were voting.

  19. Thanks for the feedback. That's a good use case scenario.

  20. I like it. Simple, effective, and looks good

  21. I like the look of it.

  22. You can click "Change vote" without actually voting again. That way you get to see the results without altering the outcome but I agree that we should be able to see the results without this detour.

    ReplyDelete
  23. While this looks good,i'll still miss the option of wanting to see the results of the polls i didn't vote for.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Andy am i missing something,i don't see where i could change my vote. Also i have to agree with Dahne about seeing the votes without having to vote on the poll..

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks @Joy Haldar I'm sure that is something that they can build into the system before we make the change over.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Like it . But I'm home and with the same IP address I wasn't able to try either on my phone or my tablet but I'm sure it works : )

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's above the Facebook button and below the last option in the poll.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Suppose i'm not voting for a certain poll.In case of Polldaddy, you could still check our the results, now you can't unless you vote.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Which option do you mean Joy? You can still see the results of polls? I'm just confused.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I feel so duh right now. I didn't even think of that. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. At least we know duplicate voting blocking is working ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. After voting i see nothing between the last option in the poll and FB either in Firefox or Internet Explorer..

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think it looks cool but I'd like a "view results" option as we get with the other poll. Also, this poll doesn't show up when viewing on stvplus.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Strange. I'll ask the developers if they have ever seen that issue. I've tested on FB and IE and they both show for me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks. Yep, it's not been configured in stv+ yet. If we do decide to use this we'll be sure to make sure it works ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like seeing the individual number of votes for each ranking at a glance rather than having to calculate based on percents of the total votes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yep, as explained in other comments below those will come ;)

    Thanks for the feedback.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks for adding my suggested feature. It's perfect now like this site itself!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't see how it could be improved anymore now, it's perfect, looks great :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Awesome thanks. Also I was around to answer the question for improvements on Spoiler TV but one thing I wish is there was an easy access to viewing what's 'on TV tonight'. I look in the morning before work but by the time I get home I've forgotten.

  41. You can click on the What on tonight link at the top.
