The Popularity score is based on a calculation of Page Views, Video Plays, Poll Votes, Comments, Google+1's, Facebook Likes and Tweets.
TIP: Remember if you want to see your show do better, make sure you share your shows content on Social Media (Facebook/Twitter/G+/Tumblr etc) and comment on articles/posts about your show.
Note: We're now be doing the Top 20 rather than the Top 10 as we had been doing previously. Shows in Green have moved up the table since last week. Shows with a "-" are new entries that were not in last weeks Top 20.

ReplyDeleteI am seriously looking at this poll sideways. How were these results determined? LOL Empire has been one of, if not the most talked about shows since its premiere in January, but here it ranks at #16 on your list? These results can't be right. There are articles about them on reputable news and entertainment sites online. The actors for the show are appearing on mulitple talk shows as well as local news affiliates and the lead star Taraji P Henson just won 2 NAACP Image Awards, and you have them ranked at #16? How are you doing this math?

ReplyDeleteI did. But besides the fact that there are barely any articles on this site about the show itself, it still makes this poll seem a bit biased against it. I remember it not even being included once in a poll where there was a vote about the best and most memorable scenes/moments of the week as well.
ReplyDeleteWe only do Best scene polls for the Top 10 most popular shows. And those polls don't count in the table.
ReplyDeleteSince Empire is such a gigantic hit, do you have any intentions on doing more articles about them? Hiring writers to do some episode commentary? I'm just saying, I come here a lot, but am just disappointed that the show isn't promoted or reported on here as much as I'd like it to be. It could definitely draw more traffic to your site. Because honestly with its ratings, it should be in the top 10.
ReplyDeleteI'll give you an example. The last Empire Promotional Photos post had just 3 comments and was viewed 430 times.
ReplyDeleteThe recent Arrow Promotional Photos post had over 5000 views and has over 80 comments.
Empire just isn't as popular online as it is on the tv world.

Empire just isn't as popular online as it is on the tv world. <~~~ Nah it's definitely popular online. Their Facebook page already has over a million likes and it's not even the end of the season yet. Their tumblr presence is strong, and so is their Twitter. Every week they have at least four to five hash tags that trend. There are a lot of blogs that write recaps, reviews and meta about the characters and episodes, so It is incredibly popular online. It's just not that popular *here*, I guess. Which could change based on whether or not you truly want to promote it. But thanks for the dialogue.

ReplyDeleteFYI We have posted over 140 Empire related posts , which for a show with only 7 aired episodes is a lot. So it's not like we don't try.
Hence why it's low in this table. Empire fans just don't want to engage here like other shows and fandoms do.
So what about doing a list solely on social media in general and not just totals for this site alone?

ReplyDeleteThe reports are run from the previous to the current Friday. I doubt very much that well see it rise higher than it is here. As there are will be no new promos, photos, sneak peeks etc.
