This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

ReplyDeleteWorld's Funniest Fails surprisingly didn't do that well. A 1.0 is not great at all for a premiere.

ReplyDeleteShark Tank is a monster. The Tuesday showing probably brought more visibility to the night. Hart of Dixie did quite well, I honestly think the CW could still use it for Fridays/ summer, but well. CBS Fridays are on a shocking turnaround now that they've kicked out TAR and put Boss on the night. This should be the permanent arrangement.

ReplyDeleteThere's in reality only a ten percent chance HoD will/can be renewed -if Czw syndicated Nikita with 73 episodes,they can do the same with HoD,ratings aren't great,and with so many shows already renewed,there's little room for HoD.CW will and has to cancel some some shows for room for new shows and right now HoD,BatB look the most Likley to be cancelled sadly and probably Messengers too due to the death slot it got.

ReplyDeleteI'd imagine World's Funniest Fails costs about $10 dollars to produce. So relative cheapness can probably keep it on schedule in some capacity. I wouldn't recommend it leading off a night though, even on Fridays which is FOX's dumping ground.
Well i am not asking because i want more people to watch but because i just want to know how equally abc is promoting everything because someone said everything was promoted equally, well that is wrong!

ReplyDeleteNot really.Season one it was more stable in ratings than Ringer & Secret Circle,cheaper to produce than Ringer,Secret Circle& did well online plus it was the third highest rated show the last three weeks of that season..Season two it was still stable in ratings,cheap to produce,doing well online,and the fourth or fifth highest rated CW show which is automatic renewal.Season three,it got renewed for syndication.As Joy and I have said,now that CW renewed ANTM'P& T,MoI,WL for summer and 8 other shows for next season,there's little room for HoD.Its ratings aren't great,it can be syndicated with less episodes than 88like CW did with Nikita and Czw dosent support or promote the show,include it in general network promos ect.-that's not a good sign or good thing.CS does have to cancell some shows to free space for new shows for next season.HoDs only hope is Messengers & IZombie bombing,I say this a big HoD fan who would live for it to be renewed,

It's impossible for CW to renew everything on the schedule.
ReplyDeleteNo station in the history of Television had ever promoted their entire lineup equally, that would be foolish of them to do. Different shows get different levels of promotion based on a number of factors; how well they are doing, show returning from a hiatus/break, new show vs older show, etc. Promotion is incredibly expensive, so networks have to maximize the potential monetary returns on a shows promotion.

ReplyDeleteHOD has been predicted cancelled for seasons 1, 2 and 3. LG said she didn't know the future of the show and she left some doors opened if it's renewed. Season 4 got 10 episodes only because Rachel Bilson was pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI know SP and WB tweeted farwell but they never said it was over. They encourage people to watch if they want a new season (same for LG and others actors)
And yes, Wilson has a deal with a new show but it was the case for Sophia Bush after the season 8 finale of OTH. I have no doubt that HOD will be Wilson's priority if the show is renewed.

HOD is the only show with JTV now that isn't fantastic, both can be paired. Or I can see HOD become a summer show. There are many solutions if MP wants to keep it (notice my IF ;) )

ReplyDeleteme too! i'm super upset how fast people seem to give up on revenge. i officially hate nielsen viewers now, besides all the cable shows and the thursday lineup, they stick to the pointless shows but yet give up on the good ones. I know that Revenge is still popular, on fb it gets over 1,000 comments whenever it airs, even on watch series.com or project tv.com when i went to watch switched at birth on tuesday revenge was still the number 1 watched show in these sites. it always gets over 100,000 views on youtube. i believe that it still does have an audience. it just lost its nielsen audience.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I never understand why nielsen viewers do not watch anymore. Revenge is still popular and i havw realized as well. On this site it is always in the top 10 ans is popular on every site. Also in other countries it is successful and all my friends seen to like season 3 and 4 more than season 1 for some reason :D

ikr i convinced like a few of my friends of gave up revenge in seasons 2 and 3 to give season 4 a try and they loved it, and are now as obsessed with me in watching revenge. its been proven that the nielsen ratings system is outdated, for example this show firefly that was canceled back in 2002, its dvd sold more then any renewed shows. If they at least updated the nielsen ratings system, and take into consideration that nowadays there are a variety of ways to watch tv. revenges ratings would probably be even good enough for a full season 5

ReplyDeleteAh ok.i seem to have misunderstood, to me you seemed pretty sure it'd be renewed.I think a descion has been made but he's not saying yet cause HoD isn't one of thier big hits or long running shows so it dosent matter to him.I think IZombie stands a good chance at renewal-zombie are popular,DC comic show which do well this season,good leadin & I expect it to get the majority of promotion of the new Midseason shows.
