Looking - Looking for the Promised Land - Advance Preview

Looking is kicking its second season next Sunday on HBO with "Looking for the Promised Land" and I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about it.
Last year, Looking was a very good surprise on television. I didn’t really know what to expect from a show about three gay men living in San Francisco, and it turned out to be quite an outstanding show, with such charming, different and sometimes annoying, well real, characters.
It could have been full of clichés and fake boring drama, but it's the opposite. Looking is such a realistic show, the three main characters (along with Doris !) are so well written, and well acted, the storylines never feel pushed or far fetched. Pat, Agustin and Dom feel like real people, to whom you can identify to, or you can even identify your friends to. They are all a interesting and representative of the gay community nowadays.

I’m not usually a big fan of normal, regular shows, where there’s no big drama, no serial killers, no killings, no end of the world, no magic, no aliens/zombies/superheroes etc…(you get my point) But the realism of Looking, its pace, its characters really have touched me. Sometimes, it just feels like I’m watching friends on TV. It’s just the real life, with its little and big dramas, with the joy and the big laughs.
Andrew Haigh and Michael Lannan have created such a perfect and unique show. Their characters are all lovable (even Agustin, right ?) and every time I’m watching it, I’m having such a big smile on my face

Well, Looking is starting its sophomore season next Sunday, and after watching the first three episodes, I can tell you this season is even better than last year. There's an amazing chemistry between all the actors, and even the news one are integrated quickly. There is a real good dynamic in all of heir interactions.
The first episode, titled “Looking for the Promised Land” is an excellent season opener, the guys will spend their time outside of San Francisco, recovering from last season dramas. It will start quite slowly. The forest is a calm place, and there is not much to do (you can always visit a tree, right ?) but it’s what the boys need… Until Doris comes in and then, everything that will happen afterwards will be epic. Oh God, Doris’s first scene is just the funniest scene of the episode, maybe of the whole show. Lauren Weedman is just extraordinary playing Doris, and each of her lines cracked me up in that scene.
And here’s a list of what you can expect from “Looking for the Promised Land” :

- Sex ! Of course, it wouldn't be Looking if there was any. Dom will explore his open relationship and another couple will do it in the woods… Kinky !
- Drugs ! The gang will party and take drugs, even Patrick ! As expected, it will be hilarious.
- Agustin will be much better than last year. He’s less fucked up, thanks to Pat and Dom, but he’s still  has personality, sarcastic and original. He's starting to grow on me. Plus, he’s getting a new love interest / friend, who looks very promising...
-  Patrick will confess a secret to his friends. It will very touching in a way, a little shocker but not that much...
- There will be an amazing painting. There are no words to describe it… It’s just… Well, you have to see it and we'll talk.
- The boys will make a surprising, unlikely pack. Thanks God, it won’t last long. Someone will break it very fast.
- There will be a very strange and sexy fairy, in the woods, guiding the gang. He's a gorgeous fairy.
- When you will see the Promised Land, you're gonna love it ! It's a real nice place in the woods
- And as always, the soundtrack of Looking is amazing. Loved every songs in the episode.

“Looking for the Promised Land” is the perfect episode to start the season, it has everything that makes Looking such an unique and amazing show : great writing, very funny and yet sometimes quite meaningful and profound too, calm and self reflection scenes mixed with epic, party scenes and some very hot and kinky scenes of course !
The boys are back, they’re still funny and fucked up, and they always surprise you. The ending scene is particularly touching and beautiful. It really shows the depth of the boys' relationship.

Finally, some quotes from the episode, enjoy !

"It will be fun... and educational"
"I flew in like Peter Pan"
"Hanging out with you guys : not so good for my vagina"
"God, maybe I forgot what it feels like to have a boyfriend"
"Turned out I loved him more than I thought"
"Look deep inside your soul and tell me what you see"

Are you excited about Looking second season ? Don’t miss it next Sunday on HBO and hit the comments !
