Law and Order Special Victims Unit - Forgiving Rollins - Review " Expect the things you can not change"

I normally don't like to favour episodes that are character based, but most of the story lines that are based on Rollins are awesome. Friendly Emily, Deadly Ambition, Gambler's Fallacy and last but not least Forgiving Rollins. Kelli Giddish knows her character so well and plays it with such depth, she really beings the storyline to life.

In this episode we got to know a different side of Rollins, the victim. She finds out that her old boss from Atlanta was in New York City working with the NYPD. He's speaking at a press conference regarding a case. The DNA that was found in Atlanta lead to several rape cases to New York City and ended up being one man. So of course Rollins's old Deputy Chief took the credit to the arrest during a press conference, even though it was Rollins and Fin's case.

After the conference Deputy Chief Patton invited Rollins and the rest of the SVU squad out for dinner and drinks but Fin jetted out faster than the invitation came, Benson had to go home to Noah, and Rollins well she couldn't get out of there fast enough either, her reason was she had to walk Franny. But Rollins didn't go home she went straight to a bar to get drunk. So Amaro went out with the boys!

The next day after Rollins showed up to work late and hung over, they got a call that said a woman was raped in a hotel room. The woman that was raped, was the Detective Reese Taymor, that the SVU squad meet the night before at the press conference from Atlanta. When Benson and Rollins got to the hospital to take Taymor statement she recounted the rape allegation. Instead Taymor just said she just just fall and hit her head. But of course Benson and Rollins know she was lying, and Benson told Taymor that she disclosed her attack to the nurse. That's when Rollins faked a phone call and ran out of the room and started to have a panic attack. It brought back a lot of memories from the time Rollins was attacked in Atlanta. It was the same memo, he bit her neck, pinned her wrist above her head. When she told him to stop he told her "Don't you know by now, I don't take no for an answer!"

As you could image Detective Taymor did not want to press any charges against her boss, based on the fact that no one would believe she was raped. But after Rollins talked to Taymor and told her that Patton did the same to her, Taymor changed her mind. Taymor wanted to make sure Patton paid for what he had done.

When charges were brought against Patton, he first said they were having an affair. Then when the evidence came in that clearing showed rape, that's when he said Taymor was asking for it...Textbook rapist.

At the trial Rollins decided to tell her story but the judge won't allow her  to take the stand. But as the audience, we got a chance to learn why Rollins is the way she is... Rollins was raped and beaten by Patton. When Rollins told him to stop he said " Don't you know I don't take no for an answer, you're not going anywhere and no one would believe you anyway!"

Patton plead out to sexual abuse in the third degree, after his little panic attack in open court, while taking the stand. It's not much but at least Patton will be on the sex offenders list.

This case covered an issue that we see far to many times in this world. Men or women in power, taking advantage of their position.
