  1. I don't really care for Olivia's relationships with either of the two guys but I like Jakes character on the show. Jake has kept the plot moving forward this season with his story line, it would be weird for the show to progress without him.

  2. I would like for her to end up with Jake, so NO.

    ReplyDelete
  3. NO! I am all olake!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Compared to several other characters, Jake has a hell of a lot more to offer.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I like Jake, as much as I like the Olitz thing, I think that Jake should win both battle against papa pop, and Olitz.... but hey ... just me ! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Rude. The answer is no. A lot of other characters need to go first.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why even consider this? Jake besides Liv and Rowan is the only main character having some cahones

I dotn think they should, that way if his show gets cancelled he can come back!

  9. Jake should have been killed off in Season 2 finale. His only purpose is the triangle. Who are these people on this board? Olivia character is diminished about both Jake and Rowan. She's not bad ass, she's just a chicken head around them. Jake has also hurt the fan favorite Huck character, who has been backburned because Jake gets too much airtime. So Jake has to die and so does Rowan. Both are useless airhogs.

  10. We all know how this poll is going to go once everybody wakes up. Way too many people, including me, feel that Olivia has been dumbed down to incorporate his character.

He will always be the guy who choked Olivia and walled her up violently. He will always be the guy who's had to be elevated extensively at the cost of the lead character. Scott Foley will always be the most wooden character on the show. He'll always be the guy who wasn't resonating with the audience, so they made him Command, after abandoning the idea of making an ex-spy the president of the United States Vice President. Like whut?

Kill Jake, and hopefully Olivia can go back to being the Olivia of season one and season 2A that I personally loved. That Olivia was never out of options, and she'd have had a better way if getting his phone rather than whoring herself out for a phone app.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Keep Jake kill Fitz.

    #Mellie4president

    ReplyDelete
  12. I completely agree.

Jake adds far more to the show than any character other than Rowan.

That being said the love triangle is stupid. Olivia is more bad@$$ when she's single.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Really don't care. He's no more relevant to me than Huck is.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Stopped watching this show because I can't stand that people are rooting for Olivia and Fitz...he's married for crying out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  15. For real. And he's an @$$ for blaming all of his problems on his dedicated wife.

Well I think episode 407 has answered this question already.
I never had any problem with Jake until season 4 where he was made a one dimensional character- to be Olivia's love interest which just made his a second Edison(unecessary and irrelevant)
If the writers can incorporate him effectively into the plot without giving him dumb lines which doesn't entail him professing his sexual powress i'd be okay with him. But right now, he just feels like a loose end in the downward spiral of the B6-13 plot of Scandal

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm so tired of the Jake character. What is his purpose besides being in the triangle. Olivia is dumbed down so Jake can be relevant. Fitz is dumbed down so Jake can be a option. Scott Foley has no charisma. Olivia and Jake have zero chemistry, it seems so forced. I'm over alias meets one life to live, that is what the show has become a soap opera, spy show.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This poll is like a catnip for Jake haters, the comments here should be very interesting.
I don't watch the show currently but whatever i've seen about the trio,i'll say one thing-At the end,it all comes down to one simple thing-No matter how deep fitz's love for olivia is,he neither can profess his love publicly and freely, neither can he get married to the woman he actually longs for.Olivia can never be with him the way she actually desires & any woman deserve to.That doesn't add any extra scoring points for Jake,i agree but fitz-olivia togethetr is not/will not be an option any time soon/ever.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Since when is Huck a fan favorite? Everyone I see (including myself) doesn't really like him anymore. The Quinn/Huck storyline turned me against both of them and he needs to stop stalking his son and ex-wife.

    ReplyDelete
  20. He treats both his wife and mistress like shit and Mellie and Liv deserve better.

    ReplyDelete
  21. If the writers were better, I might not mind Jake's presence, but the combination of the writers being unable to find a role for him other than as one of the points in this ludicrous and immature triangle, and Scott Foley being a terrible actor, I need him dead and off the show. Who cares if Olivia doesn't end up with Fitz? Not me, my primary concern is that she can go back to being great without the men in her life defining her, and that includes that horrible father of hers. Let both Jake and Rowan die, and I would be happy as anything.

I have never needed for Olivia to be with a man, and certainly not one that means that she has to be flaky and stupid so that he can shine. Fck that mess. I want the same amount of love that the writers show for Alicia Florrick to be shown to Olivia Pope. No more having the apparently powerful fixer behaving like a prepubescent teen who can't make a decision to save her life. I want badass Olivia Pope back. I want the Olivia Pope who reamed out those horrible parents in episode 4 this season. I want that broad back permanently. We already had the ridiculous Olivia Pope for the whole of season 3, we deserve better from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. When I quit Scandal, Jake and Olivia's dad were the only ones I liked. The rest of the so-called "strong" characters are some of the weakest on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  23. There are so many bigger issues with this show that I don't get this obsession with hating Jake. I don't really ship him and Olivia as a couple, but I do like their friendship and I would miss his character if they got rid of him.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just a few weeks ago, we had a "which Scandal character should be killed off" poll that was specifically designed to have Jake as the winner (by leaving off certain choices). Why another one so soon?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree. Huck used to be a favorite, but his character has really taken a nosedive and I'm pretty sure that it has absolutely nothing to do with Jake (who seems to get blamed for everything, LOL). After Huck tortured Quinn, I had a tough time liking his character any more

    ReplyDelete
  26. Exactly Kendall. Jake is useless, has no career and his only purpose is this silly soap opera triangle. Jake was missing an entire episode and it ended up being the best episode of the season. That proves his worthless. Kill him. Shonda only keeps Rowan because of black twitter. They think he's God.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jake sucks. Huck has been thrown under the bus to prop Jake. Kill him off.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Like what does he offer? do tell. please tell us his job and purpose on the show besides the love triangle?? He is being shoe horned right now and the plots and lead character are suffering for it. The lead is made so weak to prop up this character when she was a power house the first two seasons. The first half of the season is really horrible overall

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mellie's only tie to the show is Fitz so kill him and she goes too, she'll be irrelevant when the divorce happens. Jakes only tie to the show is the triangle which Fitz is included in, so kill Fitz and no juvenile triangle that Shonda is pushing. TG is the leading man on the show as well half of a relationship that is the central tension of the show. Also Scott could never carry Scandal lol he is just not a good actor

    ReplyDelete
  30. Offer what? OKAY, I'm waiting.. What does Jake offer to the show besides a road block to Olitz? Okay, I'm still waiting. Jake offers nothing. Horrible actor and forced character. Everything Jake does, Huck can do better and he's a lot more likable.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You must be new. Huck is a fan favorite on twitter and facebook. Everybody cries for Huck. Nobody but Fitz haters cry for Jake. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  32. OPA should have solved Harrison murder. All of them were dumbed down for Jake. People who support Jake hate Fitz. Its just that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  33. No it's not that simple. I like both. Not everyone is an extreme shipper.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Easy question. Of course.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do agree with the jest of what you're saying, I do miss the Olivia from the first two seasons, she is the heart of the show, and like you I hate they're using these guys to validate her, I hope she meant it when she told Jake she chooses herself, Scott isn't the greatest actor he's simply playing the role of a psychotic killer, to me with a heart I think he does a great job, I like him, not necessarily with Olivia, he should just continue to do what he does without the romantic entanglement, people forget, he was following orders from Fitz, when he started following Olivia, I hope she is without either one for a while..

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just such a painful character to watch on screen. He is so shamelessly forced. And because he gets so much help from the writers, it's hard to take his character seriously.Truly strong characters don't need to be force fed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Really? Just how do you figure that

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hate all of Olivia's guys, she needs better ones

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes who knows what SHonda has in store, I wish the show used her background more to show her ambition, drive, education and other things she can do but Scandal hasn't. The prime opportunity to do this was when she had flashbacks, we could have saw how powerful she is but instead Shonda wanted to garner sympathy for her character and made a rape story that didnt fit her interaction w big Jerry in previous episodes.
Most all she does now is nag Fitz, its gotten old. Both she and FItz are lawyers educated at Ivey Leagues, Fitz is RHodes scholar. I want both her and Fitz happy for once and a divorce needs to happen asap. They need to be set free

    ReplyDelete
  40. He was following orders from Fitz to watch her and protect her because Fitz trusted him as his long time friend and Jake was following orders from Rowan to break up Olivia and Fitz, hence why they met in the cofee shop . if they find something for him to do on the show itd be great, right now it just seems like in order to make him fit the entire story has to be about him and Olivia has to chase and cry about him which is so out of character (him getting framed, him investigating Harriosn murder,( it just doesnt work because he already had to be saved last season and it makes no sense that Olivia and her team wouldnt investigate her brother Harrison's murder. the plots are suffering

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lol, when you put it that way, but I do agree all of this has gotten a bit repetitious that's for sure!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Gasp! No! Stop encouraging the Jake haters.

    ReplyDelete
  43. There is no Olitz. There's only Liv , the mistress, at the beck and call of a powerful man who won't take no for an answer. I want her to grow some cojones and go back to being the powerful woman we know she can be.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I see Jakes character as keeping the plot stagnant because they dont know what to do with him it seems. The show has not progressed at all. We are in the same space as we were last season and at the beginning of this season "where is olivia pope?" Olivia is no longer a powerhouse but a crying fool dependent on a man. She hadnt been that way until Jake's character got more air time.
No character has made decision to progress the story except for Cyrus who now has a prostitute as a husband. If the writers could actually git him into the story without compromising the consistency of the story and the characters that were already established, I am all for him staying. He needs quite a bit of propping though it seems. I want the real Oilvia Pope back.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I miss when scandal was about cases and Olivia fixing situations with her team and they were her family, the personal drama was on the back burner.

Scandal went dark and launched shipping wars and a stupid spy team: B613 and love triangles has taken over and zapped all the fun out of the show. Please let her be single, or with Jake and give him a job to do on the show or get rid of him. I just want to be able to root for the leading lady again.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Jake character has absolutely ruined Scandal. Everyone is made to look dumb so he can have a storyline - Olivia, Huck, Fitz, Cyrus, David, etc. Jake has NO RELEVANCE on the show with B613 disbanded since his only tie is as Olivia's sex toy.

He was terrible as Command and has no technical skills like Huck and can't even kill anyone unless it is some weak character like James and two innocent women which was done publicly not in the dark the way B613 functions or bullying poor David Rosen or trying to talk tough to Fitz who has saved his live 3 times. Not to mention, Jake and Olivia have no chemistry - it looks forced, trying hard to be sexy. As the Huffington Post said they have as much chemistry as two pretty J Crew mannequins. Why is he still on the show?

Like Homeland needed to kill Brody, Scandal needs to kill off Jake to move the storyline forward and end the silly love triangle and teenage bickering and posturing by Jake and having Olivia act stupid when she is not.

Let Olivia go back to being single and focused on her work. I miss OPA handling cases. All the extra characters need to be killed off - Jake, Rowan and Mama Pope. I Hate their storyline. Enough already.

I want more of OPA (Olivia, Huck and Quinn) and Abby/Liv and some White House drama but not too much (tired of Mellie and Fitz nonsense). OPA needs a new lawyer to replace Harrison - get a good looking interesting guy who Olivia saved or bring back Stephen. The focus should always be OPA which is the premise of the show.

  47. Are you even watching the show? Mellie would make a terrible President. Her decision making is all about looking good in the press and getting good polling numbers. The country would be constantly fighting wars if she had her way.

Mellie is an Ivy educated fool who has done nothing to hold the office of President or any political office. She is an entitled white woman who sits around whining and bragging about her education.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Dedicated wife? The woman who conspired with his father and then got raped and used the rape for political power instead of cutting ties and being with her husband.

Then denied her husband a marital relationship for over 10 years while he remained faithful until falling in love with Olivia.

The Mellie stans are blind viewers of the show. Mellie is the one who is constantly blaming others for her poor life choices and acting the drama queen. She blames Fitz, Olivia, Cyrus and even her own kids for her boring life. Mellie saying her son's death was a good death because it got them re-elected was it for me. She is an awful human being.

    ReplyDelete
  49. We all know how this poll will go, because every time there is a poll like this, it gets tweeted to certain fan-sites, and suddenly we are flooded with a bunch of Jake haters who never post here (apologies to the few exceptions). Also, the phrasing of certain comments strongly suggest that there are a number of people posting under different names. Maybe you are correct about most people sharing your opinion. Or maybe your aren't. At this point, I really can't tell. However, please stop implying that your opinions are universal and just speak for yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  50. If Mellie is treated like shit which she isn't, then she should get a divorce and get a life. Fitz has been very patient with her whining and stupid political errors in the press. Why is she still hanging around? Fitz is going to divorce her at some point.

Mellie is a coward who talks big but is afraid to be on her own without a powerful man. She is definitely not an independent woman like Olivia, Sallie, Abby or Quinn.

Why do people make this Mellie character to be great when she is not? Because she is white and attractive and her husband does not love her? boo hoo hoo I'm weeping tears for the rich white woman who could do anything she wanted if she only had the courage to try.

    ReplyDelete
  51. And you think Fitz is better? That's laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah I hate love triangles they're really childish and "tweeny", I would also like to see Olivia go back to single badas$ mode.

    ReplyDelete
  53. No, Fitz does not make decision based on poll numbers or public approval else he would have sent the country to war numerous times on the show.

He may spend time dreaming of Olivia but he also does what is right for the country with the help of Cyrus and Olivia. Mellie is no help to him in his decision making. Mellie the educated fool calls him an idealist idiot so that should tell you all you need to know.

    ReplyDelete
  54. He progressed the show by investigating Rowan/B613 when he and Olivia got back to the island, if he didn't the whole story line of who killed Harrison and the presidents son could have possibly dragged out for the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. LeeS, regardless of how you feel about Mellie, that rape comment is extremely offensive to all women. Please think about what you are saying. Not only are you blaming the victim for getting raped, but your statement implies that she used it to her advantage. Plus, accusing others of being "blind viewers" after making a comment like that about a character that you clearly hate would be irony at its best.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Scott Foley is a show killer. Every show he has appeared on has gone downhill with him on board. I really hope Shonda gives him his own show and all his fans can follow him to the show. He'll have to make sure not to wear a shirt since his acting is terrible and he'll need to distract viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Although I disagree that Jake ruined scandal, I think that Olivia's relationships with both guys need to end, they have become really boring and drawn out.

I also miss OPA cases, I wish the writers would go back to that.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Fitz's decision making is flawed and immature. As Rowan said, Fitz is a boy that thinks he's a man because of his position.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Lol No way would Mellie be a good president, she would be even worse than Fitz, which is saying something considering he is a horrible president. Also I have a feeling Fitz is going to choose to go to war to save Olivia which would be the final nail in his credibility as a president.

    ReplyDelete
  60. No one could be worse than Fitz, but I do agree with your prognosis of the situation. Fitz will go to war to save Olivia and likely kill quote a few people who stand in his way (Jake might be one of those people).

    ReplyDelete
  61. Same here. Both relationships were interesting in the beginning (when they were a novelty), but love triangles have a way of ruining things. I don't want Jake killed off, but I really really miss when the focus was on the OPA cases. It's funny how people used to complain that Olivia was too perfect and too cocky but I liked that Olivia (she was like a female version of Jane from the Mentalist before and after the Red John stuff escalated...but I digress!) Then the writers decided to show a more vulnerable and flawed side and people hated that too and complained that she had become weak and dumned down. Personally I think that terrible circumstances surrounding her parents justified her behavior in the latter circumstances, so I never got the criticisms. However, I still miss the old overconfident smart-talking Olivia who used to have fun sparring with David Rosen. I also miss her loyal Gladiators who all seem to be somewhat damaged beyond repair at this point (or dead). They need some fresh cast members, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  62. OPA was the best part of the show and sadly it's still a skeleton of what it used to be. I'm hoping we can get more OPA in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  63. EXACTLY ! She used to be so cool, but for some reason the writers began to pander to the fans making her become the typical "damsel in distress". I hate "damsel in distress" characters, they're so boring and cliche.

Also as a side note the biggest insult to the fans would be if Fitz decides to go to war to save Olivia from being kidnaped. What kind of president would sacrifice so many lives for one woman, it would hardly be believable and cement Olivia as a true "damsel in distress".

    ReplyDelete
  64. That's just the point, it didnt make since that he was looking for Harrison's murderer, why? He had no relationship with Harrison to do that and the old Olivia would move heaven and earth to get to the bottom of who killed her family. The writers are shoe horning him instead of giving him an actual job. He's been investigating Rowan and B613 since season 3 and trying to get him killed and failing... again around and around in circles we go

    ReplyDelete
  65. No, I'm not blaming her for being rape so it is not offensive. I'm blaming Mellie for using the rape for political gain and ruining her marriage instead of working to fix her marriage.
I'm not someone who ever blames a person - female or male for getting raped. People react to rape in different ways but the way Mellis used the rape showed her character since she decided to ignore her husband and children for political power.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree, they have made Fitz character so weak! Please let him be umm maybe presidential!! and do something else besides pine for Olivia!! He wasnt like this in season 1 & 2 by the way

    ReplyDelete
  67. If the Shonda hadnt already established that Olivia and Fitz were in love from season one I would agree that there was no Olitz, but at this point to say no Olitz would simply be denial. She was powerful then as well she needs to regain her power.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm really hoping that it doesn't come to that. At the same time, Olivia has rescued Fitz, Jake, Huck and many others, multiple times in different ways, so I don't think I could ever perceive her as a true "damsel in distress", but I get what you mean. The fact that she needs help once in a while, or has a few moments of weakness, doesn't make her a weak person. The problem is that the writers keep putting her in these awful traumatic situations, so we don't get to see her tough side as often as we used to. And I don't think it's really necessary for the story.

    ReplyDelete
  69. As President, he has made good decisions (except for sending in the SEAL team when Mellie told him to do so against the advice of Cyrus).
You may hate the Fitz character but he has been shown as making decisions based on his principals - gun control, abortion, equal pay, not going to war, etc.
You are quoting Rowan? That crazy person? Rowan is the one who thought his position as Command made him a man. Rowan was corrupted by power and so was Jake in his short time as Command.
If Fitz is a boy, then he would have never saved Jake three times when he is better off dead to him. He would have gotten rid of Mellie through some evil scheme and he would have had Rowan killed since he knows he hates him.
Shonda is showing folks that it is people who talk tough like Rowan, Jake, Cryrus and Mellie who are in fact the corruptible weak ones while Fitz is idealistic so he comes across as weak but he is not. He still believes in doing good.

    ReplyDelete
  70. He was investigating Harrison's murder because Rowan showed up to the funeral and the way Harrison/Adnan were killed was professional.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jake had no ties to OPA or Harrison besides Olivia. Why would Olivia and her team sit idly by as Jake investigates the murder of her family and a member of OPA? Jake didnt have anything else to do so he was given this task by the writers even though it made no sense that the poeple he was in relationships that investigated for a living did nothing! He has been investigating Rowan and B613 since last season. again a repeat of plots. He failed then and lo0ks like he is failing now. The show is stagnant.

    ReplyDelete
  72. The only reason Jake investigated he murder was because he knew Rowan had something to do with it, it was clear that Olivia would leave it up to the authorities. Olivia is a fixer not a detective. The only way they could find out the truth about jake is with a third party that isn't Olivia or OPA because the dynamics of the show had changed due to all the characters moving on. The only other person I could have seen investigating Harrison's murder would have been Quinn.

    ReplyDelete
  73. And why didn't Olvia know that? when did she all of sudden become so stupid and believe anything her father says? WHy didnt Jake share the info with OP so they could work on it together? The only reason Jake figures everything out was to serve a plot and to give him something to do that could have been done by anyone at OPA, he figures everything out, spills the beans to his enemy, gets black mailed, beat up all to serve a plot when none of it made sense from the beginning Olivia is a fixer and her and her team investigates to solve problems for a living especially if it has to do with one of their own. And while the show has become about him, s the lead is a crybaby and is dumbed down. Here a few other plot devices: Fitz and Olvia believing Rowan that Jake killed Jerry. Jake running into a room for pillows so Olivia can be abducted. ITs just so soapy now everyone moping about and crying and this show use to be a political thriller .

    ReplyDelete
  74. You're obviously a Fitz-fan, but I have no respect for a man that abandons his wife and his country for his mistress.

Olivia is always a mess when she is with him as well. Olivia is best off being a gladiator and not as Fitz's mistress.

    ReplyDelete
  75. 👏👏 very well said!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. You mean truly strong characters like Olivia, who is too weak to walk away from a married man? Who was so weak, she fell into bed with him in the first place? The one who is so weak, she truly believes "he's going to leave his wife for me if I just wait it out"? That strong character? No way.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thinking that any of the Scandal characters are better than the others is laughable. I think people let their own biases determine who they like better or who they think is better. The truth is they all do questionable things under the umbrella of ( Scandal ), and if they haven't, their time is coming . Now onto Jake.... I don't think Fitz would kill him as it has been shown how much Olivia "cares" about him. That being said, they need a stronger storyline for Jake. I'm not interested in seeing him play the hero season after season. He does not need to be the guy Olivia goes to because she can't have Fitz. That's growing stale. I think the writers have done the character a huge disservice by not establishing his presence in the beginning. In my opinion the more interesting relationship in the triangle is between he and Fitz. If they would explore that more it would certainly shed light on why these guys were once close and why Fitz trusted him so much in the first place. Perhaps we could find out why they share the same interests in women.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Let's not give Mellie and Olivia too much credit, "remember Defiance ?" I'm all for treating the wife fairly. Yes, give Mellie credit where credit is due but she's no Martha Stewart and she's no saint. She definitely has done some Scandalous things on Fitz's behalf. None of which he has asked her to do. What's interesting about this show is that they are quick to turn the tables on each character. Sometimes you feel a little sympathy or disgust for each one of them, albeit some more than others lol.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I don't think fans ever wanted to see Olivia as the "damsel in distress". The writers don't listen to the fans. From what I've read fans want the strong, yet determined Olivia Pope back permanently. Additionally, it would be an insult to me if Fitz did not at least contemplate going to war seeing as though he cares about her. Now would he do it ? I don't think Olivia Pope , knowing what's at stake, would allow Fitz to go to war on her behalf. Remember she has always tried to protect his presidency. I don't think that would change now, especially if the gladiators, Jake, and Rowan could somehow navigate her away from danger.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well at least we know he will get to play hero to Olivia again in the near future lol. What becomes of his story in Season 5 ? Your guess is as good as mine.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I can see him investigating the death of the President's son. I can't see the tie to Harrison's death. That truly was an OPA thing. Jake and Harrison barely shared exchanges. I think the writers dropped the ball with that one.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Olivia has to serve as a detective in order to fix cases, so in a way she is a detective.

This poll don't really mean sh*t though. The writers don't give a f*ck for anyone's opinion and they never have so I don't understand why these polls keep popping up as if to say Shonda will come across it and have Jake whacked instantly. Olitzers just need to give up already because the last time they went to extremes to get Jake/Scott written off, Shonda and the writers/executives proved just how much of a f*ck they don't give by promoting him to a series regular

This poll was just made by some psycho bitter Fitz fan and it was a failed attempt to try and prove a 'point'

All this talk about useless characters and not ONCE has David been mentioned. This is exactly how I know Olitzers hate for Jake has nothing to do with them seeing him as meaningless to the show but seeing him as an actual threat to their repulsive ship. All this talk about Olivia being dumbed down and portrayed as weak in an attempt to prop him up is complete BS! So stop with the 'forced character', 'Olivia being dumbed down' and 'ruined the show' debates to try and justify your unwarranted hate.

And all this talk about the demeaning of Olivia's character from season 3 is ridiculous too! I'm actually getting sick to death of hearing about it and those of you who repeatedly bring up the debate must be stuck on stupid because it became abundantly clear from 301 that due to Kerry's situation, the main focus and plot line of season 3 would revolve around the destruction of Olivia's life personally and professionally. This is what usually occurs when actresses fall pregnant as they can no longer be as focused on as much as they usually are. From the TV shows I've seen, the pregnant actresses character is usually dumbed down and seems weaker, then their life spirals out of control for whatever reason and they end up running away or breaking the law and going to prison. In 301 we already saw her professional life crumble as she lost all of her clients due the mistress 'rumours'. That is why they weren't focusing on cases of the week throughout season 3, because she lost all her clients. Olivia's character was diminished for this reason and this reason only! That is why you guys saw season 3 as terrible.

  86. I lolled myself after realising the mistake. My bad, haha. Should have been Jake, but I got carried away...

  87. I agree. Rowan and Jake are awesome!

  88. When we respond on this board remember that not all fans share the same opinion. We should defend our opinions in a respectful way that is not condescending to others. When we present our case for like/dislike It should be backed up by factual information. With that said.... we can't control how people think or feel about characters on the show. You are free to come up with your own poll if you like, and maybe you will find that people agree with you on certain things. I however find it a waste of time pointing fingers at fans when clearly the writers have their own agenda. This is a story Shonda is telling and of course it is going to go the way she wants it to whether we like it or not. Just like any show we don't have to like every story arc/character. I agree the hate is too strong but I know there are those who feel similarly about Fitz. It may be helpful that when you address a fan base just say some and not all. As an Olitz fan I know that Jake is here to stay and I'm just hoping that we can have some MATURE story arcs involving Olivia's personal life instead of this back and forth. It is a real drag. I know who I would like to see her end up with but I am starting to care less and less. I am willing to bet there are others who feel the same way. I do like David's character. The banter he shared with Olivia Pope was entertaining to say the least and I do agree the heavy focus on the love triangle has taken away from potential story development with other characters on the show.

I am aware that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that we all have different ones like the fact that I prefer Jake over Fitz but to most Olitzers, people who like Jake are seen as an abomination and are simply attacked for doing so, so since then, when I discuss Scandal on social media, I usually show animosity towards them because they've done the same instantly. I as well as many Olakers and Jake fans have been called every vile name under the sun for simply admiring Jake but when we fight back it's seen as bullying to them and I find it laughable and blatant hypocrisy. I never cared for Olitzers and their opinions until they started doing this. The behaviour they've presented on social media is down right despicable so when I advocate my views and disdain for them to me it's fighting for myself and other Olakers and Jake fans who deal with their BS on a weekly basis. And I agree it was wrong for me to generalise all of them but they do the same for every aspect of the fanbase. And as for the controlling, most of them actually do believe they can some how control how the show pans out which is exactly what this poll illustrates. From attacking actors, Shonda, the writers, Olakers or trolling Scott Foley related posts to talk sh*t or terrorise Olake fanfiction stories and starting ridiculous petitions; because of their belief of their entitlement and exclusivity, they take things too far, all because she and the writing team aren't backing their stupid ship and pandering to them and their fantasies and making them come true when she has stated MANY times that Scandal isn't a romantic drama and Olitz is not some beautiful love story. She and only she decides what happens to the show.

And speaking of expressing views and opinions with actual facts my main problem with them is they actually fail to do this. I have yet to see any Olitzer actually come up with a constructive argument of why they are against Olake/Jake with ACTUAL FACTS and points with explanations and evidence to support their points but they fail at this because almost everything they say about Jake, Olake and his actions are just pulled out of their ass*s

  90. Yes, please, kill off Jake Ballard or write him off the show. His addition to the show ruined Scandal.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I get that you don't like the character. That's your right. But Scott Foley is an actor doing a job. Save your bashing for the character, not the actor. To me that's stepping over the line.

I agree with some of what you are saying, but the shipping wars really started with the Olitzers, They're part of the reason why me and a lot of people I know started shipping Olake in the first place because their hate and BS was getting out of hand. And it seems like people forget Kerry was pregnant throughout season 3 that is why there were no cases of the week and why people saw her as being dumbed down and constantly making mistakes, because Kerry/Olivia could no longer be the main focus and having her lose all of her clients was only the beginning of the destruction of Olivia's life which to me was the main plot line and focus of season 3, they pretty much built it up from there because they wanted Olivia to breakdown so they diminished the character. This usually happens on TV when an actress falls pregnant, writers begin to destroy the character and have them have a breakdown as the actress herself will be weaker for obvious reasons. Season 3 was beyond f*cked up (in a good way) so a lot was left to the imagination and so much happened in the last episode leaving many questions unanswered and it left us wondering what ALL characters had been up to whilst Olivia and Jake were gone so during the first half of this season that's what has been the main focus. We're only 9 episodes in and I'm already seeing a different Olivia not just from season 3 but from other seasons too. She's much more happier and relaxed and less of a hard ass. Don't worry, the show will get back to how you want it soon

  93. Mellie become president, oh the ratings would go way down. That would be a terrible choice, besides the speaker of the House would be next in line. I'm sorry but Mellie is only relevant as Fitz's wife. They could write a presidential divorce and that would be interesting. Tony Goldwyn's character is too important to Scandal. No, Olivia is the focus of Scandal with the supporting cast members, Mellie as president is totally unbelievable. I'm sure Bellamy Young is just happy to still be on Scandal. She doesn't want to be the one to bring the show down.

  94. Yes, he should have been gone at the end of S2. Scandal use to be compelling until they introduced his character. The show is now a silly soap opera all of the characters were dumbed down to accommodate him. Get rid of this guy he's just a plot device.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I don't think he should but seems to me that's what's gonna happen for motives of Shonda Rhimes.

  96. Olitz fans shouldn't respect anything about Olake because the very fact of them is IDIOTIC. The REAL Olivia Pope would never date a guy who choked her or a guy her father hired to make a sex tape of her. So yeah, who in their right mind would like Olake. You won't get any respect from the real fans who watched the show since season 1 because Jake is a Joke and Olake is a joke. A bad joke that has been forced on the show because of Shonda's Noel wet dream. We all know how it ends...Olitz will prevail because they are the heart of Scandal. All Olake is something for Jake the joke to do because he serves on other purpose on the show. He has no family, no job, no connection on the show.
You spend too much time worrying about Olitz fans and what they think. We dismiss Olake because of the joke nature. Olivia and Fitz is a real love story that has progressed over the four seasons Scandal has been on air. So, nope...you gets no respect because Oake is a side show act with no chemistry between the actors. Jake needs to die and take his cut buddy Rowan who hired him to sex his own daughter with him. I hate them both!

Wow! You must be a Terry. Oh, and thank you so much for writing a basic dissertation only to prove my points

  98. Fitz is a bad president because of his personal life? Because he loves a person who is not his woman?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Every think Rowan/eli says is not always true you know...He treats his daughter like an objet.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Literally anything is possible, like Fitzgerald Grant the third been a very good president !!!! even if he don't love his wife.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm team Fitz and for me, it is Olivia who deserves to be challenged. Jake finds another love interest. Fitz divorces Mellie. Fitz been a sexy bachelor. Olivia have to comit to Jake, to Fitz even to Edison, to another guy or to herself. But back an forth diminishes her character

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yes. Presidential divorce. It will be a goothing for Melly also. She will forces to make a political move

    ReplyDelete
  103. People doesn't have REAL reasons to want Jake dead. It's just because he's one of the reason Olivia and Fitz are not together that's all. I have to say i like his character , he's smart , fearless , sexy , audacious , caring , always there when people need him. He bring action and freshness to the show. Fitz can be repetitive in his action or big speeches , so it's annoying sometimes .

  104. Team Fitz. An Emmy to Tony Goldywn.

  105. Hate jake ...
shonda plz kill jake i will be so happy :p

    ReplyDelete
  106. That is a rhetorical question is my book. As answer is 100% Yes. He adds no value to the show

    ReplyDelete
  107. Rowan is recurring. You do realize he hasn't even been on much except for 1 scene because he has another show. At least get your facts straight on ll things. I do agree with you though on the uselessness of Jake. He should have been a recurring character. Give me Hollis and Sally any day over Jake

    ReplyDelete
  108. I honestly see Jake's character as useless. What has he accomplished in all the time he's been on the show? When he became Command, no one respected him and the job was ultimately returned to Rowan when he ran off to the island with Liv. He killed James so that he could keep his mouth quiet about B6-13 only to give David the same info later to "go get the bad guys". He couldn't even keep Olivia safe when she was kidnapped and he was literally 20ft away from her, like what kind of spy is that? When they were trying to find Olivia, Huck and Quinn basically did all the work but Jake tried to sweep in as the hero by saving her only to not find her and end up looking like an idiot as usual. When he went on a hunt for Rowan earlier this season after the whole govt operation to get Rowan failed, Jake wasn't able to find him or kill him. And if there are other Jake mishaps, I'm sure more people can think of them. Jake is the sloppiest spy and most irrelevant character I've ever witnessed. He holds the show back and he more Importantly holds Olivia back. He is not on her level and I've only seen her deteriorate as she continues to be with him. Jake has by far lived out his usefulness because he was never useful in the first place. Even back in S2, the only role he served was being her rebound after Fitz dumped her and being Rowan's bitch and he couldn't even do that right because he ended up in the hole in the end anyway. He needs to go now. The show could do so much better without him.

  109. Like I said, you are an idiot. I stay as far away as I can from the stupid terry vs Anti drama. So kill the noise and stop assuming everybody who Ship Olitz also ship them in real life. Nothing but lies. How old are you? You sound young and stupid. Bye child.
