———-

Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. These overnights are your first look at the ratings and a precursor to what could lie ahead. And we take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence.

-Winners:
“NCIS” (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “The Flash” (CW), “NCIS: New Orleans” (CBS), “Chicago Fire” (NBC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Marry Me” (NBC), “New Girl” (Fox), “About a Boy” (NBC), “The Mindy Project” (Fox), “Forever” (ABC)

———-

Ratings Breakdown:
CBS scored a clean Tuesday sweep in the household overnights, besting NBC by a hefty 76 percent with its combination of “NCIS” (11.0 rating/17 share – #1 for the night), spin-off “NCIS: New Orleans” (10.0/15) and “Person of Interest” (6.1/10). But the distance between the two networks will be considerably smaller in adults 18-49 care of NBC’s “The Voice,” which was on the map with a 7.1/11 (#2) from 8-9 p.m.

NBC, unfortunately, is not capitalizing on the lead-in support from “The Voice” as a result of 9-10 p.m. sitcoms “Marry Me” (#2: 3.6/ 5) and sophomore “About a Boy” (#3: 2.9/ 5), with “Marry Me” down by 50 percent in the overnights from the 8:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (7.2/11). But “Chicago Fire” built from 66 percent from “About a Boy,” with a second-place 4.8/ 8 from 10-11 p.m. And that should be enough to win the hour in the key demographics.

Over at ABC, a repeat of Shark Tank” stepped in for canceled sitcoms “Selfie” and “Manhattan Love Story,” and it averaged a third-place 3.3/ 5 at 8 p.m. Next was relocated “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” at a third-place 3.1/ 5 from 9-10 p.m., which should still translate into some interest in the young adult demos. And that led into a last-place 3.2/ 5 at 10 p.m. for freshman drama “Forever,” which if normal patterns prevail will drop in the vicinity of 33 percent in adults 18-49 from “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” ABC may want to rethink that full season renewal for “Forever.”

Elsewhere, recent returnee “MasterChef Junior” on Fox may not seem like much with a 3.2/ 5 (#4) from 8-9 p.m. But that same overnight rating last week translated into a 1.8 rating/6 share among adults 18-49, which is a vast improvement from short-lived fall entry “Utopia.” Next were 9-10 p.m. comedies “New Girl” (#4: 2.3/ 4) and “The Mindy Project” (#4: 2.0/ 3), which continue to underwhelm in all categories. From a traditional ratings standpoint, there was no need for Fox to extend the current episode order for “The Mindy Project.”

With “Selfie” and “Manhattan Love Story” gone, and “Marry Me,” “About a Boy,” “New Girl” and “The Mindy Project” all struggling, viewers apparently are not looking for a chuckle – or two – on Tuesday.

On The CW, “The Flash” is the real deal with a 2.6/ 4 at 8 p.m., which translated into a 1.4/ 4 in adults 18-49 based on this same overnight household rating last week. And that remains a positive for The CW. Veteran “Supernatural” followed with a 1.6/ 2 (#5) at 9 p.m., which was one-tenth of a rating point (or seven percent) above the 1.5/ 2 from one week earlier.
