    Perhaps he wants protection for Belle and Himself? Will he be affected by this spell, or can he protect himself? Because a Rumple with the darkness inside of him unleashed would basically wipe everyone out, and then go after the Snow Queen. And she did say last episode that she MAY be stronger than him, so even she's not 100% sure who is stronger now (though that is without the power stored in the hat, though can he just siphon it to use whenever he wants?. Maybe he's hoping she doesn't want to risk it.

    Rumple is a great villain.I think he's the only villain in the show who can't be redeemed.I guess that he wants a deal to save Belle because she's the only person he cares about.

    you make me happy! I didn't know that Adam said this. And I think/hope that Rumplestilskin/Mr.Gold has always a "back door" to know what is to do. Perhaps with Regina together (according the interview Lana gave for episode 11). We will see and hope.

    Quoting Mary Alice Young doesn't really explain the Snow Queen's motivatins for wanting everyone else dead. So she wants two new sisters, we can get that, as crazy as it is. Why does everyone else have to die? Just cos they might get in the way? She's just yet another villain whose justifications are relatable but who goes about getting what they want in all the wrong ways.

    DH best show evah :P I love that narration. Then again I love all of M.A.'s voice-overs in ss 1-2. Then they kinda stopped knowing how to write for her, she just sorta said the same basic things over and over (whilst talking less) till the show ended. Heck, best narration in season 3 is the one Alma gives in 3.11.

    Yeah but he spent like 20 episodes with the thought of killing Henry as his driving force even after knowing he was his granddad. And it's not like they've been all warm and cuddly ever since. Hmmm I actually wonder if Henry even knows pops wanted him dead...

    Exactly. I think what we'll see in "Heroes and Villains" is Regina wounding up with the heroes and Rumple with the villains (i.e. Ursula and Cruella). Afterall, he's Rumplestiltskin, The Crocodile, and The Beast combined, whereas Regina was a young girl whose mother killed her love and broke the brightness of her spirit.

    Rumple was, when he was a child/young father, never bad/a villain, only a coward/desperate. He gave Zoso/beggar some coins from him (escape with Baelfire), although he himself had not much. So in my opinion, he wasn't more darker as everyone other

    True. But he gave into his own greed and weakness - and somehow that makes him seem less irredeemable because he made informed choices. Regina made bad choices, for sure, but they seem to have been made more out of an almost insanity ridden grief. But I agree with you that Rumple isn't all dark either - I just think he's too much into himself to ever step out out the darkness.

    he mentioned it many times: magic is power, power is strength and he will never be again a coward. Please, don't understand me: I don't accept many of his actions also, but can understand some. And again: without him, his interactions/deals etc, would never have the fun to watch and I think, at some point would be boring.

    And what he has to offer is the Snow Queen not having to risk facing a fully darkness-inside unleashed Rumple when she only thinks she MAY be stronger than him. If only the bloody sneak peek lasted a couple seconds longer!
