New Girl - Episode 4.07 - Preview: "Goldmine"

This week on New Girl, Nick pretends to be gay so that Jess has an easier transition with Ian (guest star Michael Stahl-David). Meanwhile Winston tries to woo the neighbors in the building Michelle and Viv, (returning guest star Alexandra Daddario and Amber Stevens). I will say I’m happy to see Alexandra return because it adds a layer of connective tissue to the lifestyle of the same people living in the building. All too often, new seasons of a show change the roster of candidates living in the building because of schedules and salaries so it was definitely a nice touch.

I must address the main title because I failed to do so last week. I made a mental note and completely blanked. I appreciate that the “Hey, girl, whatcha doing” theme is still present and I like the addition of Damon Wayans, Jr. and Hannah Simone to the main roster to complete the gang, but it’s no longer a unique title. The original theme song was catchy and fit the style of the show. Jess even sang the song during the Pilot episode. Now, it almost feels complacent being the run-of-the-mill intro for a multi-camera sitcom.

In the meantime, Winston lays some groundwork with the girls across the way from the loft and Coach grows jealous. Coach thinks Winston is laying too much “friendzone” material down, while Winston thinks he is playing the “long game”, passing his time until they jump his bones. Concurrently, Schmidt has a conniption when Cece considers having a breast reduction. After last week’s stellar episode, tune in to New Girl tomorrow on Fox at 9PM to see what happens.
