Jane makes an effort to get to know Rogelio (Jaime Camil), but when his nerves get the better of him, things don’t go quite as planned. Meanwhile, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Petra (Yael Grobglas) continue to struggle with the state of their marriage, but Petra has another unusual plan up her sleeve. Ivonne Coll also stars. KELLY FRYE GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS’ PLASTIQUE AND CLANCY BROWN GUEST STARS AS GENERAL EILING — After a bomb goes off downtown, the army, led by General Eiling (guest star Clancy Brown), rolls in and takes over the case, much to Joe’s (Jesse Martin) surprise. Suspicious, Joe tells Barry (Grant Gustin) that he and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs should look into the army’s involvement. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) informs the team that Eiling was experimenting on his men to turn them into super soldiers. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) confirms one of Eiling’s soldiers, Bette Sans Souci (guest star Kelly Frye), was at the bomb site. The Flash tracks her down and realizes that she’s not setting off the bombs, she is a meta-human who can blow things up just by touching them. Meanwhile, when Joe learns Iris is writing about “the streak,” he tells Barry to make her stop. Barry realizes Iris won’t listen to him so he decides to have The Flash pay her a visit. ReplyDeleteJane the Virgin - I'm disappointed there's nothing about the doctor and her stepmother.
The Flash - It's interesting that Joe has the STAR Labs team playing detective and the Flash/Iris visit should be amusing.
Supernatural - School setting + meta material = loud frustrated groan from me.
Arrow - Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to more Hong Kong flashbacks but I can do without the Oliver/Laurel arguing.
The 100 I really hope that by the time this episode airs that Clarke is not still the only one convinced that Mt. Weather is bad news. That just makes the others look stupid.
Vampire Diaries - Seems like good stuff.

I wouldn't be much concern about Oliver and Laurel arguing.....could be nothing just Laurel overprotecting of Ted Grant. But seriously for a episode that suppose to Roy centered I would think it would focus on Roy more than Wildcat!

ReplyDeleteI hope they don't bring in any legal aspects into this episode because I cringe every time the writers do so. It's simply the worst written parts and makes Laurel look like an idiot. For example, in the last episode when Laurel told Ted he was committing perjury. No, Laurel. He wasn't because he wasn't under oath. I know that and I'm not even a lawyer. Smh.

Don't know why Oliver should be arguing with Laurel, he has been a dick with her since he met her... I find it right that he didn't wanted to train her, because of Sara... But why argue about Ted Grant? She's the one who knows him.
I always tell that when Oliver is around Laurel he is kind of a dick to her... She should punch him right on the face.
I think he just overeacting because of what happen to Sara so he just protecting her from harm. He probably don't trust Ted Grant enough maybe because he has a dark past most likely a criminal before

I'm not sure why they've chosen to make her dumb and annoying. The writers aren't incapable of writing nonobnoxious female characters (Thea and Laurel aside, Sara and Felicity are/were complex and independent but not silly and contrary and cliche all the time). But Laurel's been so since the beginning--and not just with Oliver but her father too. Even if they magically fixed her, it is going to be hard to believe she'd make such a radical character shift. I really think the unloaded gun at the end of 3.02 was the final straw for me.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been annoyed by Laurel but I have been consistently frustrated by how dumb they've written her. The writers have sabotaged her both personally and professionally to the point where it's almost impossible to take her seriously.
ReplyDeleteCharacters being blatantly dumb annoys me. She's just never right, but she's always argumentative and a little entitled. Why? The writers could give her a good point couldn't they? Diggle gets good points. Felicity gets good points. But it feels like Laurel has always operated from the "least likely to sway my opinion" position.
ReplyDeleteWhat you're describing is why I'm not annoyed by Laurel. If it were a case of Katie Cassidy's portrayal of the character, I'd be annoyed at her but this is all about what the writers are giving the character to do and say. Because of that, I find it hard to get annoyed at her. My annoyance is aimed at the show itself.
ReplyDeleteThe Flash episode sounds interesting, but the Arrow one sounds really intriguing- how exactly is Tatsu meant to 'jog' Oliver's memory? Yes for Ted getting a story line and I wonder if Roy's secret is about the cops he killed last season while under the Mirakuru.
ReplyDeleteEpisode 2 was supposed to be Laurel centric and episode 3 was meant to be Diggle centric, I wouldn't really put much stock in what the writers say in that regard, though I'm sure it means Roy gets a story line, which is already progress.
ReplyDeleteI'm not annoyed at Katie Cassidy. And I agree at heart the fundamental problem is with the show/writers. But when I watch the show, Laurel bugs me. I don't read comics so what Laurel does on screen is the only character who exists for me. Unfortunately, that character says dumb stuff, and gets angry, and goes after assassins without checking her weapon is loaded. The audience deserves better than that and the writers should do a better job. But it is the character the writers have created through lines and actions--not the portrayal or the interactions--that bugs me.

I quite like Arrow and as such would prefer if all the characters were written equally well which is why it's so frustrating that Laurel seems to bear the brunt of the writing staff's shortcomings well beyond that of any other character. It's baffling, really.

We all know delena rain kiss is in episode 8 & this is episode 7.It would make sense for damon to come back around this episode or at the end of episode 6.
Don't know about the rain kiss, but from the episodes description here there is no hint that only Damon comes back. If that is the case, would not Caroline and Elena help to get her back? There is also no interaction mentioned at all between Alaric, Stefan or Enzo with Damon which would be really odd, if Damon is back.
ReplyDeleteWow, i really don't see how you could forget. But okay...In short- Lois takes Clark to his 10 yr HS reunion. Time Travel with Brainiac 5, past, present, future. Meets future self, lots of flashbacks from season 1, bug boy makes appearance, Clark flies with Lois at the end, after they both say they love each other for the first time.

ReplyDeleteWell, it says Damon is trying to take matters in his own hands, that doesn't necessarily mean he has success nor that he leaves Bonnie behind. I would hate the newly found dynamic of Damon and Bonnie destroyed.
ReplyDeleteI feel like they should have Sara's leather jacket listed as a special guest star considering how much of an appearance it makes. I love how when there's an emotional moment with Laurel (when she hugs the shark, when she was in the hospital, when she talks to Oliver about training) the jacket is immediately brought up and I just have to scream at my TV "WE GET IT!"...
ReplyDeleteEpisode 3 was supposed to be Diggle centric but it turned out to be a little more Laurel and Thea centric and it seems that episode 4 and 6 will be the same.
I don't mind having Laurel on screen. In a way its better than season 2's method of avoiding her all along and then bombarding us with all the angst. If I get a chance I want to burn that leather jacket. I hate that thing.
ReplyDeleteOliver and Sara became weapons because they were forced into this life and they had no choice. Oliver made mistakes but at last realized they have a responsibility to save the city. Barry on the other hand got a super power due to accident and decided to use it for good. Roy who lived a criminal life for long wanted to change due to a life altering event where Arrow saved and inspired him and wanted to give back to the community.
The problem I have with Laurel's journey is she went through a life altering event like Roy with the death of Sara. But she is not dealing with it at all. She is not grieving. Instead of burying in pills and alcohol she is trying to fight crime. What she is doing is replacing one addiction with another. If she had grieved and then after facing a failure at the hands of justice system she decided to fight crime I would have been on board. Here what they are showing is another unhealthy practice. In reality it should crash and burn. But since this show loveeees Laurel and bash on our heads with BC reference, she is going to be a ninja soon.
I don't care if they accelerate her into BC. I am not interested in how she gets there. Once she becomes BC at least her story will revolve around the villain most times than her own. I can take that.
Even though DR gave lot of interviews I had no doubt episode 3 was most about Thea because they said so during SDCC. Diggle did have a lot to in this one but what he had was boring stuff since it was all a set up for the future ARGUS story in current and flash backs. Next episode is going to be Laurel heavy from the pics. Action sequences and climax will focus on Malcolm, Nyssa, Oliver and Ra's. Everything else will be about Laurel and Nyssa. I think episode 6 might have more of Roy than what is written here. We will have to see. I hope they power through Laurel's journey in the beginning of the season and keep her at the down low once the season picks up steam.
Since Roy is a bore and Colton sucks as an actor I'm thankful its Ted heavy!!! Katie is finally getting the story and screentime she deserves as a leading lady.

All I can say over the Originals is that I hope that at the halfway point, they really turn things around to another type of season, I mean... Again it instantly went to some semi-Game of Throne style, where just everybody stabs each other in the back and stuff, and I REALLY still think that's just super weird and stupid, since it goes against how they keep saying this show is about family >.< And for the love of God, PLEASE we get it, you guys love the whole character of Esther, but I seriously hate her and am getting really sick and tired of her, so just make her die, and let her stay dead.
ReplyDeleteNext to that, I'd like to say that even with how much I hate Esther, I pretty much hate Cami more, 'cause in a lot of ways, it IS her fault about Hope, even though she's not really dead, but she's just so useless, so annoying, all she does is contradict herself. She sleeps with Marcel at the start of one episode, and at the end, she's so righteous and stuff. We get it Originals, you still wnt to make her come off as an awesome character as Caroline for example, since I still think she's a major rip-off, but she's never going to be that way, when you keep having her as a useless, hypocrite, that feels bad for Klaus one second, then hates him the other, but feels bad a second later again.

ReplyDeleteSee that, you just exconorated the writing staff right there. At this point no one can dissuade me of my belief that they are willingly under writing Laurel's character. If it were that they had a couple of characters whom they had done the same thing to i would be more understanding but its only her. After 49 episodes Laurel is still their biggest creative shame with no foreseeable improvement. And quite frankly that is very off putting.

I just think they're pushing the Game of Thrones feel way too much, and too long, that's what I got the first season and think it's pretty clear, now just actually show the family thing, 'cause they keep teasing us with the family getting closer, and then they bring back the most annoying villain both shows have ever had, Esther, who somehow controls Kol too, which I still think is pretty OOC.

But Cami is just... Awful, just so freaking awful, there is just no other explanation possible or necessary for her. And yet they keep forcing her down our throats every single time.
And I want to give Marcel a chance, but afer he helped them at the start of the season, he instantly went back into paranoid mode and thinking he's the only person that can do something right, well, apart from trying to lure Elijah in his mix.
Hopefully the writers will get it right. Cause at this rate....they are killing me!
ReplyDeleteEpisode 3 was meant to be and is Thea centric. The entire main point of it was about Thea's training, mindset and Oliver and Roy working to begin repairing their relationships with her. Diggle was a side plot.
ReplyDeleteWell, then the producers shouldn't have called it a Diggle-episode, which they did. I definitely thought it was a Thea episode or even Thea-Laurel episode, since both of them had a strong story line in it.
