  2. The big mystery for tonight’s episode, based on the Promo’s, is what is Liz hiding behind that door. What is everyone’s theories?!?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Another mystery for tonight’s episode is the girl we know from the last episode, Zoe D’Antonio. Who is she?!?

Is she related to Berlin? Is she related to Red?

  5. The Mombasa Cartel case is important to Red...Most cases he gives to the FBI are...

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ressler's story arc with his drug addiction is revving up...

    ReplyDelete
  7. From what I've read this episode should be a creepy Halloweenie type episode...

    ReplyDelete
  8. What does Liz have behind that door??? Now the Sniper-Guy knows about it!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Liz is acting nervous...she has pretended to be someone else many times for Red before...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lol, "More like me than you I'm afraid" - Red to Liz about Geoff Perl's ex-wife

    ReplyDelete
  11. Uh-Oh, Liz called the cops on The Sniper-Guy (Ezra)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think she has her husband Tom behind that door

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's exactly what I was thinking! It would have to be someone important like that, right?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why would Liz risk Red's freedom for whatever she is hiding?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I can't wait to see what Liz has behind that door!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I wonder if we will find out what the key opens that Red got last episode?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, I just found out about this, great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think that too, I hope I'm wrong in some way, it's too predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm sticking with Tom, but it could be anything...or anyone!

    ReplyDelete
  20. That is an interesting story thread...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ressler never seemed to me to be someone who would let himself get addicted, however.
I always thought of him as a straight arrow, you know what I mean?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ressler better stop popping pills & start popping some caps!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's a cheap way of giving him a storyline, hopefully it won't last long.

    ReplyDelete
  24. His gonna get himself killed...or someone else on the team.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree! I want this story line gone and on to the next one for Ressler...Possibly a new love interest???

    ReplyDelete
  26. He did slip up a few episodes back when he took his sweet time helping Liz...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah I know what you mean also think he stupid going out there by himself

    ReplyDelete
  28. I prefer more badass Ressler, maybe more interaction with Red, I liked them both last season when they were locked up in the box.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Uh-oh, should have known he was in on it...

    ReplyDelete
  30. The eps started off slow but is picking up I hope it's not Tom behind the door - too predictable
    Resseler storyline is too boring
Come on TBL this season has been uneven compared to last year

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a great scene! That was during Anslo Garick, Right?

    ReplyDelete
  32. It did start off slow, I agree...This is getting to be a good episode now though...

I am still sticking with Tom behind the door. Ryan Eggold has to come back at some point and that would make sense....Lol, but I have been wrong before...

    ReplyDelete
  33. yep, one of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I also agree with you that the blacklisters were a little more intriguing last year than this season...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh yeah I forgot about that!

    ReplyDelete
  36. So super creepy. I don't think I can watch this before bed anymore. I'm gonna have some crazy dreams/nightmares!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Please, oh, please, let us know Liz´s secret, it's getting tiresome.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm betting Liz's big "Reveal" will be the final moment of the episode. THAT'S why I don't like Promo's/Trailer's, Lol

    ReplyDelete
  39. They did the same last episode, and the one before that if I'm not mistaken.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You are 100% correct. They should treat those kinds of reveals with a little more care, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Does that mean no musical montage this week?...Sorry, stupid joke...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well, I laughed :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. I knew it! Dembe!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Very commendable Red! We love Dembe!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ha! There's your montage!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ha! and there's your Reveal!!! Lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. ugh, and now we have to wait for Red's bomb!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's should be good, but probably another final moment reveal like tonight...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Predictable reveal, but I'm glad Tom's back.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I knew it was her husband she had behind the door

    ReplyDelete
  51. Not surprised

    ReplyDelete
  52. So predictable. Like I didn't see THAT coming! I do love how they always make us like Red again though right when we make up our minds to hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It was predictable but who will she have behind the door beside Tom

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'll be surprised to know the people who were surprised!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I know, and I don't mind it was him, but did the have to keep the mistery for three episodes?? Was it really necessary?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Unlike some I was not as concerned about who Liz had in the basement (I assumed it was Tom since the first look), but I was hoping it would connect to Dembe and the Eberhardt Cartel... Huzzah! Awesome to get a little more background on one of the more under-appreciated characters on the Blacklist!

Carel Struycken is just a creepy looking guy, but add to that he makes bubble Santa beards in the tub and is using humans for taxidermy and we have reached a new level of creepiness!!! XD

I have a level of twisted respect for a poacher of poachers. I am not a PETA fan or animals before humans type, but that does not mean I cannot love animals! I've always looked at mounted animal heads as bizarre and disgusting in concept, but I enjoyed the juxtaposition of taxidermy humans..
Plus the poetic justice of him being killed by his own crossbow bolt! XD

Awww, Zoe is a nice person
Too bad being pulled int Red's orbit will likely bring her drama and turmoil....

This was a really good episode for me!
I loved getting some insight into Dembe and Red taking down a cartel of poachers. Also glad some viewers will hopefully finally stop whining about answers... Ugh!

    ETA:
I didn't notice this live chat was going on. Aww, shucks! XD
    Next time.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tom is back... Yea

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yes.
That reveal was the culmination of the first half of this season's arc.
Well, pre-mid-season I guess since it is not near half way through the season...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thank YOU! It was fun.
Will you be doing this every week?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lol, I agree with you about the poachers. And Zoe seemed like a nice person, you're right.

We actually didn't decide to do this Live Discussion until a few hours ago. Next Week!

    ReplyDelete
  62. No it wasn't necessary could've been reveal in the first episode and we could've see Liz torture him or something

    ReplyDelete
  63. Very Predictable that it was going to be Tom. I Kinda wish they would play around with more of a story of Red not knowing something rather than him finding out immediately everything as from the preview for next weeks episode he already knows she is keeping Tom prisoner

    ReplyDelete
  64. Our Pleasure! Yes, I will do it again next week. We decided this today, so over the course of the week we can get some more publicity and more commenters. It should be fun! Thank you for participating!

    ReplyDelete
  65. THAT would've been interesting. Maybe we'll see some of that next episode.

    ReplyDelete
  66. ooo I'm excited about this for next week! until then!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tom not being revealed until tonight was important to the beginning of this season. Hw could not have been tortured i nthe first episode without ruining the mystery of what Liz is hiding from Red and who was stalking liz. I know that was revealed a couple episodes back, but if Tom was shown as her prisoner in the premiere that would have been ruined as well.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks! I found out on twitter when Sandi posted it. I'll be back next week if I can. Good night!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Awesome! I look forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think Red has known Liz is hiding Tom somewhere since the beginning of this season. Not many people would have that level of insight into both his operations and Berlin's. Had to be tom.

    ReplyDelete
  71. So true!
I mean yes it happens, but every time a TV show uses that trope it is lackluster and cliched. It might not be so bad if they found a unique angle or way to go about it!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I agree & thats my point he Knows everything far too quickly IMO. I like to see a story where theres something Red doesnt no

    ReplyDelete
  73. Right..

I think we have seen that to a degree, but not where Red is completely in the dark to all aspects of the COTW.

So far he has had more informatio nthan the FBI and the viewer, but maybe not all the answers. Then he uses the FBI to get his answers. It stil lcomes off as him being omniscient...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Bummer i cant do this with you guys. it's better for me to wait for subs to have a better understanding at what they are saying lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. Another awesome episode! Two episodes in a row that have been fantastic! I'am back on track to absolutely loving this show :D

We finally got some backstory on Dembe!! Hallelujah! He's just one of my favorite characters on the show so it was great to learn more about his past and see how he was rescued by Reddington. Really sweet but also gut wrenching.

And the award for the most predictable reveal goes to....Liz keeping Tom prisoner! XD Nahhh, I'm just kidding but come on, it was pretty obvious that she was keeping him behind that door. I'm just glad that we didn't have to wait till the midseason finale to find out this reveal. Looking forward to more scenes between these two! They're always absolutely brilliant.

Poor Ressler getting addicted to pill medication :( He just can't catch a break. Really hope he will finally get the proper help he needs.

Liz getting Ezra arrested so that he won't tell Reddington that she is keeping Tom prisoner was absolutely brilliant XD She really doesn't want anyone to know her big secret.

Can't wait for the day when Reddington will confront Zoe once and for all and tell him that he is her father. Should be very interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ressler is to The Blacklist as Laurel Lance is to Arrow. XD

Okay, maybe not that bad! XD

    ReplyDelete
  77. "Are you Samuel Zuma? I heard you had a big mouth!"

    BANG! BANG! BANG!

What a start to the show that was!

    ReplyDelete
  78. This could be controversial but I support what that family was doing to the poachers!

    ReplyDelete
  79. The idea of being able to comment on the show whilst it airs is a bloody fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  80. What was the closing song on tonights show? Absolutely haunting and beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  81. HA! You just made my night XD

    ReplyDelete
  82. Creepy! Creepy! Creepy! When did The Blacklist become Criminal Minds...or The Following...or Stalker. This is my least favorite episode of The Blacklist in two years. Hopefully, the writers don't go in this direction ever again--if so, they've lost this fan.

    ReplyDelete
  83. the blacklisters were disgustingly creepy, ressler i did not expect him to be this far off the deep end, enough to hurt himself for more drugs, chung was right he's a junkie and wow liz really was keeping tom behind that door she definitely has changed, i knew it was dembe in the flashback

    ReplyDelete
  84. The VOTW was one part "Predator" and one part "Hairless - Sasquatch" and all creepy in a good/cool way (Absolutely No Spoilers........you must see this episode for yourself)! 4 RED'S TOP TEN LIST, I will be Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well let's see..
The Blacklist-er was a serial killer a handful of times in Season 1.
    - 1x04 - The Stewmaker
    - 1x07 - Frederick Barnes
    - 1x09 - General Ludd
    - 1x11 - The Good Samaritan
    - 1x18 - Milton Bobbit

At least 3 of those were more creepy to me personally... It felt like just another COTW to me. The only difference I noticed was that Liz was not the lead investigator in the field this time. Because of that we saw a lot more of Ressler compared to normal.

Oh well, different strokes and all that...
    We all see things differently.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm glad Ressler could save himself in this ep!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. What ep was this?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm glad Ressler did get out of his mess by himself, in the forest! Still the badass ;-) hopefully they settle that painkiller addiction asap - he needs to keep an eye on Liz, she isn't the badass she pretends to be! (At least that's not what I like ;-) !)

    ReplyDelete
  89. At first, sorry for my English, I live in France.
Thanks for Dembe's story : what a pleasure to know more about him and Red!
Ressler's story don't interest me at all.
    Nice to see Tom again.
I don't think Zoe is Jennifer : I think she can't remember Red if he is his father but she could feel something like a strange impression, a souvenir and not speaking and laughing with him .For me Jennifer wil be more unfriendly...I hope I am clear.
Great episode whith a lot of questions and few answers...again.

    ReplyDelete
  90. 2.02 while he was interogating, Liz was attacked ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  91. I find it funny that The Blacklist still thinks that it's shocking to reveal something to us that most people have assumed since the mystery was introduced.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The Blacklist has never excelled at "shocking reveals" honestly, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The overall story between Red and Liz, as well as the intriguing case of the week style, has always been the shows strong points in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Monarch Douglas Bank...Liz was being roughed up by Stalerno and they accidentally break the two way mirror...Ressler just sat there for a few seconds until he got up to help...

    ReplyDelete
  94. Wish i had known about this during the day yesterday.Maybe next time you can announce it a little earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree that Stewmaker, Samaritan, and Milton Bobbit were a bit creepy--but Mombasa Cartel was way over the top.

The best things about this episode are the two little "reveals": the first, about Dembe's background, that I knew was him as a little boy. And, that Tom was alive and behind the door. Though I didn't expect him to have a full beard--guys would KILL to have such gorgeous face hair!

Lastly, I'd bet my house that this is the beginning of making Tom a "Good Bad Guy"--remember he's a Baddie-for-Hire. He doesn't have any "investment" in doing Liz any harm beyond the money he was paid by Berlin. Which seems to be a contract that's ended. So, he's free to use his skills of betrayal, murder, etc. to help Liz if he so chooses.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Laura, I apologize, but we just decided to try this out a few hours before the episode aired yesterday. It was the first time we tried it and a lot of fans actually loved it. So, I (Geo), will be doing it for next week's episode as well since it was such a hit. I hope you can participate, it was fun! Sorry, again, that you missed last night's Live Discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Very good point Chris...My favorite shows are serialized shows and I have never really gotten into procedurals, but The Blacklist mixes elements of both perfectly, which is why I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  98. MJM the song is "Proud As We Are" by Daniel Martin Moore.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Monarch Douglas Bank...Liz was being roughed up by Agent Stalerno behind the two-way mirror. During their scuffle they accidentally break the glass and Ressler just sits there, across form Kaja, watching until he finally figures out what is going on and snaps out of his drug-induced trance. Liz makes a reference to his delayed reaction time later in the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Maybe the reveal was more shocking to more casual fans who were not aware Tom had his own Season 2 promotional photos and was contracted to return for Season 2?

I thought last year's shocking reveals were pretty good. Both Anslo Garrick and Berlin were surprises for me personally.

I think where The Blacklist fails most is its weekly promos honestly (like most shows in my opinion). They try to be too clever and over-hype events. I never pay much attention to them personally, but I know a number of people have been angered by the promos seemingly promising this answer or that answer only to have the episode not pay off for them.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well I didn't even know that (consciously - I just assumed that he was coming back). And I found it obvious.

Berlin wasn't a surprising reveal for me (that assumes that you're talking about the fact that the guy Red killed wasn't Berlin and Berlin didn't get captured/killed). What was the shocking reveal with Anslo Garrick?

Yep, the promos annoy me. If it wasn't for the fact that they come on immediately after the episode I probably wouldn't watch them.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Well "Shock" may have been the wrong word... Maybe surprise.

With Anslo Garrick I had no idea who was behind the Apple-Eating Man or Garrick. so Fitch being behind both surprised me.

We knew Berlin was on the plane but his story and relationship to Red was something completely unsuspected to me. The fact that he was the father of the mystery girl in the Stewmaker's album was a big surprise to me.

I guess it comes down to me being surprised by how things fit into the larger narrative of the series, but not necessarily the weekly story which is often more obvious.

I love being surprised by the cumulative clues forming a larger piece in the puzzle. seeing how all the small pieces fit together!

    ReplyDelete
  103. It was obvious that she's hiding Tom.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks so much Geo. The music used throughout this whole series is amazing. I can only hope they'll offer a soundtrack CD at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Geo, Couple things:
    1. I like the live discussion. But perhaps when it is done you can start a new thread of "what did you think of this episode". `
    2. Many have said that Zoe could be Berlins daughter. I think she may be too young, yes? When was Berlin in jail? She was married or absconded with someone before that... I put her at about 30 tops.
    3. Dembe Zumah...best name ever.
    4. Fitch and his syndicate definitely helped Liz out with Tom et al.
    5. For some reason I am looking forward to the Berlin arc coming and going. Not terribly excited about his character.
    6. More Pee Wee please.
    7. So what exactly has Tom told Liz? Is it all true? hmmmm....
    8. Write this down and remember this a few years from now... No 1 on the Blacklist will be none other than Elizabeth Keen (or whatever her real name ends up being like Gloria Licthensteiger)

    ReplyDelete
  106. Had we even met Fitch before Anslo Garrick? Either way, I suspected him as soon as we first saw him.

Nothing with Berlin thus far has been surprising to me.

I like seeing these small pieces but they're so small and come so rarely that it can, at times, get annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hi Joel,

    1. When the discussion is done I put a comment stating so. That way everything after that is "What did you think of the episode" comments. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by starting a new thread, but maybe that helps. If not I would be happy to clarify.

    2. I personally think Zoe is Berlin's daughter. She appears to be the appropriate age.

    3. Lol, agree

    4. Fitch could have been responsible with helping Liz out, but I think we need more info to verify.

    5. I agree, I really want to see his story arc progress.

    6. Lol, yes

    7. I am not sure yet what he has told Liz. I would assume she would have asked about her father since Tom did state in last seasons finale that her father is alive.

    8. LOL!!! Nice alias for Liz! I have heard this theory before, however, I don't know what I think yet. It is definitely interesting, but there are no clues that warrant it. Definitely interesting. I will tell you what though, I will write that down if you write this down since I have not read anything about it yet - Number one on the blacklist is Liz's dad. (Whether it's Red or someone else that has yet to be revealed) ---- Remember, you read it here first Joel.

Thanks bud - stop by for the Live Discussion next week, I will be doing next Monday as well, it was fun.

    ReplyDelete
  108. My pleasure! I think iTunes has a soundtrack or will come out with one at the end of this season. I will try and find a link for you...

    ReplyDelete
  109. I think that number 1 on the Blacklist is Red himself.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'm a casual fan but assumed it was tom since the first time I saw the locked door- which I think I remember followed scenes where Tom say something like you should have killed me in her dreams. (This may be totally off since, as I said, I'm a casual fan)

Not making fun of this, since I see the question more as, "what is she thinking and what does she want." Adding psychological complexities I s always a plus.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that this was predictable but more interesting than an alternative. Dead characters are limited and boring.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I assumed it was Tom as well, but I had seen Season 2 photos with Tom and knew he was returning...

I agree though, even if some of the "big events" or "twists" are predictable, they still are entertaining. Plus, even if I know the eventual conclusion, the way the show gets there is usually less predictable to me. The journey itself can be unexpected, but the psychology of the journey is entertaining on its own level.

Like I wrote earlier somewhere, I love seeing how all the pieces fit together. Sometimes I catch most or all of the pieces and see the picture before it's revealed, but usually I miss a hint or two and only discover the connection in retrospect. I love that!

I thought Season 1 was a masterpiece in how to reveal information. It was incredible how everything fit together at the end of the season. I hope they never speed it up to appease temperamental fans who want answers now or they will pout. XD

    ReplyDelete
  112. Personally I hope the info reveal never speeds up. I loved the pace last year!

Fitch first was revealed in Anslo Garrick ya, but when he was revealed isn't relevant to my point. Before Fitch revealed he was behind Garrick and the AEM I did suspect a third party, but not some one Red already knew and was relatively friendly with. I never thought it was all just a lesson in humility.

I catch many clues, but had no idea Berlin was a Russian criminal who thought Red tormented him by sending him bits of his daughter. If you did somehow manage to piece that together before Berlin told his story you have earned mad respect from me.

    ReplyDelete
  113. What a great way to tell a story. Dembe has come from a lot!
Now Ressler man, he is gonna F.up being hunting willl sure give him some hard time. Now he will need that Dr.
    And TOM! FINALLY! TOM!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Maybe it's just me but it seems like there is a lot of stuff that just don't add up in the show. Just to name a few: 1. If Red didn't know who was after him in the 1st season, why did he take the picture of Berlin's daughter from the stew maker's book? 2. If the Stewmaker killed Berlin's daughter (and we know he dissolves his victims in his "stew"), how could there be parts of her sent to Berlin in jail? 3. How did Berlin get the same photo that the Stewmaker had as the Stewmaker takes photos with a Polaroid right before he disposes of the body? 4. Berlin said that Lizzie was just as important to Red as his wife was. Why didn't he just kidnap Lizzie, since he had Tom married to her for the last 2 years? 5. Still don't know why Tom would kill Lucy/Jolene, another employee of Berlin's? 6. Why was Red looking so hard for Jolene AND why was Lucy/Jolene trying to elude Red If Red didn't know who Berlin was and Lucy/Jolene was Berlin's employee? These are questions that I don't think will be answered as it seems like the show has moved on from the Berlin thing.

    ReplyDelete
  115. 1) I think Berlin is not Red's true adversary. Berlin was told Red killed his daughter by someone who remains a mystery. That mystery person is likely Red's nemesis.

    2)Good question..
Maybe the person who told Berlin that Red killed his daughter may have sent random pieces of a girl to Berlin while he was in jail.
    - If Jennifer is Berlin's daughter she is still alive of course. Maybe Red hid the real daughter and some random girl's body was sent to the Stewmaker for disposal. Remember, The Stewmaker used to just make already dead bodies disappear, not kill them as well.

    3) I think that was done just for the television audience. Using the same photo allows people to connect the dots more easily.

    4) Good question...
Maybe he needed Red to come out of hiding first? Maybe Berlin wanted Red to reconnect with Liz so the pain would be worse if Liz were to be killed?

    5) I wondered about that too...
I think Tom was partially covering his own ass since Berlin does not like people who make mistakes. He kills them. Also, I suspect Tom has real feelings for Liz at this point.

    6) This may go back to Berlin not being Red's true adversary again. Jolene may work for Berlin now, but maybe in one of her past identities she worked for the person who told Berlin Red killed his daughter...

I think some of these will be answered by the time Season 2 ends honestly. I think we will learn someone (if not who exactly) sent Berlin after Red. We will also get more back story on Jennifer/ Berlin's daughter I think..

    ReplyDelete
  116. I disagree. If they keep dragging out these small info reveals that aren't exactly shockers I'm gonna get irritated.

I got a bad vibe from Fitch as soon as he was introduced. It wasn't too much of a step for him to b behind Garrick.

Yeah, the Red sending Berlin pieces of his daughter wasn't something I suspected. But that was about it.
