Key Time Period Highlights for Prime:

In its regular Tuesday 10:00 p.m. time slot, ABC’s “Forever” was up 31% from the year-ago drama debut in the hour in Adults 18-49 (1.7 rating vs. 1.3 rating for “Lucky 7”), ranking as the Net’s top-rated Tuesday 10:00 p.m. fall series debut in 4 years – since 9/21/10. In fact, in a rare feat for a new series, “Forever” grew over its Monday preview by 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.7 rating vs. 1.5 rating).

Building on its Adult 18-49 lead-in (+14% - 2.4 rating vs. 2.1 rating) in its new Wednesday 8:30 p.m. slot, “The Goldbergs” was ABC’s top-rated comedy premiere in the half-hour in 3 years – since 9/28/11. In its new earlier time period, “The Goldbergs” scored the series’ 2nd-highest-ever number, behind only its year-ago debut coming out of the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” opener on a Tuesday at 9:00 p.m.

Dominating the Wednesday 9:30 p.m. half-hour in Adults 18-49 (3.3 rating), ABC’s “black-ish” delivered impressive hold of its “Modern Family” lead-in (87% - 3.3 rating vs. 3.8 rating), marking the best lead-in retention for a regular comedy debut in the slot and best in 5 years in young adults (since 9/23/09).

Shifting back an hour into its new Thursday 9:00 p.m. slot, “Scandal”opened its 4th season at a series high in Adults 18-49 (3.8 rating), building over the year-ago premiere by 8% (3.6/10 on 10/3/13).

Holding 100% of “Scandal’s” Adults 18-49 lead-in, ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” (3.8 rating) equaled TV’s top-rated 10:00 p.m. drama debut in 2 years– since 9/17/12, matching the year-ago “Blacklist” debut.

Building sharply on its lead-in Sunday at 8:00 p.m., ABC’s 4th season opener of “Once Upon A Time” took second to the NFL game in the hour and dominated its CBS drama competition with Adults 18-49, more than doubling “Madam Secretary” (+150% - 3.5 rating vs. 1.4 rating). Topping its 2-hour May finale by 52% in Adults 18-49 (2.3 on 5/11/14), “Once Upon A Time” equaled its highest rating in 2 years – since 9/30/12. In addition, the ABC drama was up from its year ago opener by 33% in Adults 18-49(2.6 on 9/29/13).

Sunday at 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Resurrection” season premiere defeated CBS’ competing “The Good Wife” by 69% in Adults 18-49 (2.2 rating vs. 1.3 rating). “Resurrection” was up from where it finished out its first season, outpacing its May finale by 5% in Adults 18-49 (2.1 rating on 5/4/14) to match its top rating since March – since 3/30/14.

OUAT got a 3.5 and not a 3.7? Still really high but I'm so letdown right now.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Urgh OUAT adjusting down two tenths... -_- Still great but I would've loved it if it'd stayed with the original 3.7

    ReplyDelete
  4. Why? Many were speculating it wouldn't even reach up to 3.0, or high 2's. This is still sensational especially for a show in its fourth season, and for a serialized show. And since the numbers didn't drop next week rly in second week,(like family guy) frozen proved to be still a success for tr show.

  5. Actually, it's still depressing. The original numbers were 1.7, 1.8; the updated numbers 1.5, 1.7.

I know it's still fantastic for the show. It's just disappointing to hear that even after the 'finals' it gets adjusted down by 2 tenths. I wonder what the adjusted ratings for the 2nd episode will be.

  7. What about Revenge?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Wow, three tenths down for Resurrection's premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not too shabby. Most shows only lost a tenth, while Resurrection suffered the most, at three tenths.

    ReplyDelete
  10. OK... So... Has AoS been affected or not? I'm afraid this post makes my head explode XD

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nothing's mentioned about it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. When will the CW numbers be released?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Where are the restated ratings for Agents of SHIELD? Or was it unaffected due to it usually adjusting up a tenth or two like last season anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would assume that SHIELD, Revenge etc that weren't mentioned didn't get change from the original releases.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's what I think to, given that Agents of SHEILD's pattern was to adjust up a tenth or two last year too.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not necessarily because when you look at what it says about the Goldbergs, you can deduce the Middle was adjusted down a tenth but The Middle is not mention in the press release...

    ReplyDelete
  17. All of the ratings are still good but I'm surprised that so many shows adjusted down so much.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So was ABC the only network affected?

    ReplyDelete
  19. True, but there is no data for SHIELD even without its mention. So I'd guess it hasn't changed. But I don't know for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's interesting that Monday was completely left out from the roster. It probably means that none of the two progams were affected in any way, no ups, no downs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Forever was adjusted down 2 tenths.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, you are right, but it was a one-time occasion that the premiere was aired on Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I guess it stayed the same?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Black-ish and The Goldbergs have the same original ratings, right?

    ReplyDelete
  25. What did it get this past week though... If it did get a 3.3, that is an amazing hold.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Fionn (was Teen Wolfers)11 October 2014 at 21:45

Yup, a 3.3 (3.1 in prelims) but that will likely be adjusted down too, my guess would by a tenth though, not two.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Will we be able to see the viewer vs. rating numbers in a table soon?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Revenge and SHIELD were adjusted down a tenth.

  31. No it's not in the release but it's on a deadline article dlvr.it/79n74R

    ReplyDelete
  32. 3.5 is still great for Once. Interesting that according to this, the bug was inflating ABC's numbers so other networks' shows will probably only get adjusted up or stay the same, but not adjusted down.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sounds like it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, it premiered to 2.0 instead of 2 1

    ReplyDelete
  35. So those that are not mention like Revenge dont get any change at all? Well im good cause it didnt go down either

    ReplyDelete
  36. Like a before and after.

    ReplyDelete
  37. whattt Revenge was 1.3 then? D: I CANT EVEN.
I will better live in the land of denial

    ReplyDelete
  38. Set up like the daily ratings release showing millions of viewers and the ratings for the shows - or like the final ratings adjustment articles.

I assume when they're all released that DarkUFO will list the changes. Currently we're waiting to see if the other networks also received adjustments.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Here's hoping that both Gotham and Sleepy Hollow (especially Sleepy Hollow) are those ones to adjust up! Along with The Blacklist.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well, I've added the readjustments into stv+ - you can see them there.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It premiered to a 1.3. Both the final and preliminary numbers adjusted down to a 1.3.

    (1.5 (finals) -> 1.4. (preliminary) -> 1.3. (revised numbers))

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thank you for adding the list of shows and their numbers. :)
