  1. Agreed. I was kind of hoping Caroline would stick around awhile.

  2. Me too! She was super cute. I wish we'd at least gotten to see her last episode or the one before, before they decided to kill her off. Would've been nice to see Ichabod have a true friend for a while (I know Abbie's a true friend, but they're kind of obligated to be with each other even when they're not getting along.)... ah well.

  3. Oh yes I can't believe that Katrina moment slipped my mind. All series long people have complained about her being a damsel in distress so it was nice to see her gain some of her powers back, and save herself without anyone's help.

  4. Precisely. I love how she did what needed to be done and only then Ichabod and Abbie came along. I also like how they explained why she wasn't doing magic in the cottage.

  5. I would have liked to see Ichabod at the re-enactments all along. It would have been fun to see if he nitpicked them or not. Caroline could have made a great friend and a respite from the apocalypse so I think they missed a great chance here.

  6. Yeah! It was funny, 'cause I'd been discussing wanting to see Katrina using her magic with a few other people last weekend...and voila! Monday night, our wish was granted :p! I liked her using it, too, and yeah, I'm glad they gave a valid, logical explanation as to why she hadn't been able to use it thus far. I also loved seeing her and Abbie working together. Given some of the concerns Abbie's raised thus far about Katrina, it was nice to see her putting them aside and helping her out.
That said, I did go with the pick of the "Mrs. Crane" mixup. I totally get people seeing that as "fan pandering", of course-fair point. But it made me laugh anyway, mainly because of Abbie's reaction to everything. i like it when she teases Crane a little :D. Plus, Crane and Caroline had a cute moment together-it was a toss up between that scene and the one where Crane apologized to Caroline. That one was sweet, too.

  7. YES to all of this. That could've been ripe for some comedic moments.

  8. That opening scene was so cute great opening

  9. I feel like this season is not as funny as last so I think this would have been a great place for it. Plus Ichabod really does need more people to interact with. So does Abbie.

  10. I hoep we get far moe Abbie and Katrina working together scenes. I think by continuing to isolate Katrina, it is making it hard for people to embrace her character. To have those two together would alleviate some of that and also let us know both better. I lvoe Abbie and Ichabod, but they have to be able to interact with other people at some point. This two od us against the world thing is starting to smother for me.

I actually wouldn't have minded the Mrs. Crane thing if we didn't keep on getting it. It's one of the most irksome things about this season for me. It also feels like they are trying to severe Ichabod's devotion to Katrina to please fans as well and that makes zero sense. That's not the kind of guy Ichabos is and it will lessen his character greatly for me if they pursue this. Enough with always putting partners together romantically. That said, I did love Abby teasing Ichabod and even more so I loved Caroline.

  11. I chose "Ichabod get Katrina's message and Hawley resuscitates Abbie" even though your description completely omitted the reason WHY I chose it. That moment when Crane pulled Abbie out of the water and "Oh no, no, no, no, Abbie. . . . She's DROWNED!"--he thought she was dead. He had no idea that she could be saved. That fear and panic and despair was absolutely palpable,, in just a few seconds. There was a promo photo of him hugging her after, and that was clearly cut from the episode. I think it's because they didn't need it. We got how much Crane cared for Abbie from his reaction when, for just a few seconds, he believed he'd lost her. Tom Mison is a brilliant actor.

  12. I definitely agree that isolating her does make it hard for fans to really embrace her. She is supposed to be reunited properly with Ichabod soon, though, as I understand it, so hopefully that means we'll be able to see her getting more involved in the stories.
The thing about that, though, is that people will be annoyed then, too-there's that spoiler stuff that came out today about Katrina having a connection with Abigail Adams, and I already saw comments from people going, "Katrina? Really? Ugh!" People complain because she's "boring" and not involved in the action, and then when she is involved in the storyline, they don't like her being there, either. *Throws up hands in exasperation* It's like the show can't win with her either way with some people-some fans would seem to prefer she just disappear altogether. It's frustrating. I just hope the show does what they plan to do with her and don't listen to fans who want her gone for good for the shallowest of reasons.
I'm taking a "wait and see" approach with the "Ichabod and Katrina have their struggles" thing. I see their struggles as just the natural effect of having been separated for so long and being in such stressful, tense situations. Plus, even if she has good reasons for doing so, Katrina has been dishonest with Crane throughout the series' run so far, so I understand they'll need to address that, too.
But yeah, I do understand your fear about trying to please shippers, too. I'm trying REALLY hard to stay out of the shipper craziness-I just enjoy the silly, cute moments with Crane and Abbie for what they are, cute, silly moments, and leave it at that. But that's not always easy to do when even reviewers doing episode recaps sound like shippers when they comment on those scenes. I don't ever think we'll have to worry about Ichabod cheating on Katrina, though, or suddenly running into her arms just because he had some fight with Katrina. There was an article on TV Line with one of the people who work on the show who did acknowledge that their marriage would be a barrier to any Crane/Abbie romance, so I think they're aware of that concern. Here's hoping they do continue to keep that in mind.
Anywho, tl;dr, LOL, bottom line, I'm not ready to start worrying yet, but I certainly understand why others like yourself do. And hopefully shippers can learn to do their squeeing and shipping without getting so rabid about it (that might be a futile hope, but it's nice to dream, right :p?).

  13. I know that there are some fans who will never like Katrina at all, but I think for most there is still hope for her if they spend a bit more time on her character. She's not at Laurel from Arrow status yet, but there will be a point when she crosses that line if they can't get the audience sympathetic towards her and actively rooting for her. I don't see that happening unless she is with the main characters more often and stops being separated. I'm glad to hear they are likely remedying that soon.

As for me, I think Katrina's story is the most fascinating one so I wish we would get more backstory on her. I would also like to see Jenny and Katrina become friends like the real-life actrresses who play them. I think they both have personalities that would mesh well together and anyone Jenny likes can't be seen as too bad by much of the fandom.

In the end, I hope I am making too much of the fan pandering and that it tones down a lot. Instead of the mutual lovefest epilogues, maybe they can bring the humor back. I'd love that. However if Abbie and Inchabod ever get together, I will drop this show no question. It's not worth the massive frustration that will cause.

  14. I chose Moloch going after Henry. Idk why, I found it the most interesting, but not my FAVORITE! Idk there were too many. I liked Ichabod apologizing to Caroline, it was sweet.

    OMG dying of laughter!

Craine is hilarious, the scene where Abby says " its a lovers lane" Craine interrupts and says "no need detective, we had them in my day, its a place where lovers could meet....walk hand in hand, with their parents following them for propriety..." HILARIOUS!

Abby looked amazing during the wake scene. I'm kinda liking Abby with the adventurer guy, that helps them out, Nick Hawley....puts a wrinkle in it now that we know that the sister has a thing with him.

I like that they have Ichabod and Katrina having marriage issues. This is great, as it shows the evolution of their relationship, in the present, without him being sooo devoted to her memory in the past. It is kinda like a real marriage where couples learn about one another....

The relationship between Ichabod and Abby reminds me of the classic "buddy relationship" films.
Buddy films (like Lethal Weapon) are problematic for sure with respect to anti-racist theoretical analysis....but for some reason it works in this element, and in fact reminds me more of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Bad Boy movie, which turned this movie genre on its head.
