New Girl - Episode 4.04 - Review: "Micro"

This week I have a special surprise. My sister, Aurora, is in town and we will both be offering our thoughts on this week’s episode of New Girl, “Micro.” As one can probably infer from the title, this episode dealt with Jess agreeing to date a man, guest star Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Blue Mountain State), who openly admits he has some “shortcomings.”

Despite learning that Matt has a tiny member, Jess can’t renege on the date after telling her roommates that they are all shallow. She even goes as far as to set a bet that she can date Max for a whole month even though she is clearly apprehensive about the situation. It might have turned out okay, if only he wasn’t a total douche.

Meanwhile, Schmidt and Coach can’t get over themselves and Winston sees a perfect opportunity to teach them a lesson. Winston and Cece set up a mock photo-shoot in the apartment to bring out the vain ridiculousness in Schmidt and Coach. They were surprised to see Schmidt and Coach fall for it so easily, but it was nice to see Cece and Winston working together rather than just being a part of the background.

This week’s epiphany came when Jess admitted that everyone has their flaws and that the only way to manage them is through acceptance. Unfortunately, Jess’s pantsless accepting of her crazy knee coincided with Matt’s unexpected girlfriend walking into his loft. Hope you all enjoyed this week’s episode; tune in next week and comment below. Now, was this a classic Winston/Cece mess around or what?!

Favorite Quotes:
“Rare, burning, feminist boobies!” Coach

“Well, I have something to tell you. Real women are wonky.”… “Perhaps, but like climate change, we pretend they don’t exist.” Jess and Schmidt

“Well, lucky for you, my eyes are bigger than my stomach.” Jess (in response to learning her potential date has a micro-penis.)
