  1. Looks decent. I hope the ratings start ticking up a bit. They pulled Hawaii Five-0 from 10pm Mondays and shipped it off to Fridays when their ratings got as low as NCIS: LA's ratings are now.

  2. I wouldn't say flourishing. A 1.2 demo is merely acceptable for a Friday show. Without the syndication deals in place, I think CBS would have axed that show by now.

  3. The ratings are most certainly not on par with The Blacklist. The Blacklist averages well over 10 million viewers a week with a demo just a shade under 3.0. NCIS LA, on the other hand, averages 1 million less viewers and a demo well below a 2.0.

  4. That looks like a really exciting episode.

I hope the ratings pick up.

  6. I would like to hear your thoughts about how NCIS: LA is doing on Mondays. I'm from Australia, so I don't know how it works there in the USA.

Do you think it's possible that NCIS: LA will move to another night and time (in the near future), because it might not be doing as well as Castle and The Blacklist. I know that the Blacklist will move to Thursdays on February 5, not sure if that will help NCIS: LA and their rating..

  9. Let's start with the negatives. You're right, NCIS: LA is nowhere near doing as well as The Blacklist and Castle. It has dropped significantly (about 30%) from last year's ratings. This shows that it was still dependent of its parent show NCIS as a lead-in. You would expect a show with five seasons to have formed an indepent audience, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Also, NCIS: LA is doing worse than Hawaii Five-0 which had the Monday 10 pm slot two seasons ago.

Now, as to the positives. LA is doing better than former time-slot occupants Hostages and Intelligence from last year. It's also a procedural so people can tune in whenever they want unlike Hostages which was a serialized drama. That definitely gives LA the potential to grow. In a few weeks, The Blacklist will go on hiatus and make room for the new NBC drama State of Affairs. While I don't expect State of Affairs to do significantly worse than The Blacklist, it's still a new drama so we have to wait and see how it performs. That might be an advantage for LA. Also, I expect a surge in ratings when Castle and/or State of Affairs are in repeat mode. Besides, there might be an audience that is DVR'ing LA and we have not yet seen the Live + 7 DVR numbers for the week that LA premiered.

  11. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. In a nutshell, these are my thoughts for the show and for CBS Monday nights in general:

Even though NCIS LA isn't doing great at 10pm, CBS is still doing decent overall on Mondays because of the good start from Scorpion. As long as the ratings for both shows stay at their current levels when The Big Bang Theory moves to Thursdays at the end of October, I think CBS will leave both Scorpion and NCIS LA right where they are for the entire season.
