CSI: Las Vegas - Season 15 - Episode Order Trimmed to 18 Episodes

CSI‘s current season will fall a tad short.

TVLine has learned exclusively that CBS has trimmed the venerable procedural’s Season 15 episode order from 22 to 18.

I’m told the decision was more about inventory than ratings. In addition to spin-off CSI: Cyber, which is slated to assume CSI‘s Sunday-at-10 perch later this season, CBS also has Vince Gilligan’s Battle Creek and a seventh season of The Mentalist waiting in the wings.

CSI’s move to Sundays at 10/9c has produced decent results: Although the show is down double-digits from its Season 14 average (when it aired Wednesdays at 10), it’s maintaining the time period’s year-ago average in viewers and adults 18-49.

This marks the first time in CSI‘s 15 year history that it will produce less than a full-season’s worth of episodes.

  2. Didn't they cut it down to 20 from 22 to make room for Cyber? Now they cut another 2? This is definitely the beginning/middle of the end for them. CSI is a great show and changed network TV these past 15 years but I think the time has come. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an announcement in the next months that this might be the last or second to last season of the show.

  3. Another short season is possible, too - the last of this show with only several episodes, similar to the last season of White Collar.

  4. I think this may be the big sign that the CSI craze is over and it's time for the show to come to a conclusion either this season or next if it gets one. Fact is there is so many crime shows now especially procedurals that follow the similar CSI formula this show just doesn't stand out an more. To be honest it should have come to a conclusion awhile ago in my opinion but I also understand there is still plenty of people who watch it each week. So I hope for viewers and fans sakes they give a decent ending to the show.

  5. 18 episodes and advance notice, the writers should have enough time and plenty of episodes to work with to write a season finale that will work as a series finale if needed.

  6. Yes, we already did. Its order was for 20 episodes.

  7. I really hope CSI will get another time slot next season ! It was still strong on Wednesday... I can't understand why CBS changed the combination Criminal Minds / CSI which made them win every Wednesday nights...

  8. So much things CBS has coming it looks more like a question of inventory than the show getting canned. The show is still quite lucrative for CBS, and cancelling shows that makes them money is not CBS`s style.

  9. no they'll probably get another season which going to be the final one. CBS said they would tell the producers when the show is over to make them write a final season. That's not the case of season 15...
Though if CSI is renewed you can be sure it's going to move from Sunday night. It was still strong on Wednesday. This new times lot is killing the show...

  10. CSI is still very lucrative show WW, it earns a ton of money... That's what save CSI's ass in the US !

To be honest they should move CSI back on Wednesday, Stalker is doing worse and worse each week. CM / CSI was doing great last couple of years...

  11. I think the problem lies with CBS commissioning too many shows and being hard pushed to air them all. I despised the 14th season but this one has been good so far. 16 needs to be the last and put in a decent time slot.

  12. They did this same thing with Numb3rs years ago and the show got cancelled a few months later.

  13. yeah but CSI is still one of the most lucrative shows worldwide... It would be crazy to cancel a show which still make them earn so much money...

  14. It had a 20 episode order before, not 22.

  15. Actually there was that year of the Writer's strike where they didn't produce a whole season, either :)

  16. CBS doesn't see Stalker doing bad as it's calling it the New #1 Hit Drama.

  17. Well CBS will always have the million NCIS spin-offs and other procedural shows to keep it going.
