Parenthood - Episode 6.01 - Vegas - Advance Preview

22 Sept 2014

This is the last season premiere of Parenthood: the farewell season has begun.

The first episode of these 13 episodes-order, sets the beginning of the last arc. It’s a slow paced episode, that is able to focus the right amount of attention on each character. Amber is the one who firstly appears on the screen: she is pregnant, and she doesn’t know what to do. After a little fight with Haddie (who is still around!) she reveals to her cousin, her secret. The two have a nice talk about Haddie’s love interests and Amber’s need to tell the truth to her mother. That’s what she does, at the end of the episode.

Julia is working now, and her relationship with Joel is still in stand-by. She sleeps with one of her colleague and we understand that she still has  doubts about how her marriage should end up.
Kristina is opening the school, and she needs all the help she can, while she is trying to convince Max to join her project.
Hank has a series of boring and useless problems involving her ex wife and her petulant and can’t-stand type of daughter.
An useless storyline, that I would rather be cut off by by the writers.
But the most important part of the episode was about Zeek. While he is celebrating his birthday in Vegas, he collapses . For now we don’t know if he has some illness or it was just a moment, but it seems like problems are coming. Seeing the brothers reunite in Vegas was funny.

The episode was like coming back home, to your family. Braverman are always ready to welcome you, and the family drama won’t disappoint the loyal fan base. The season premiere is a bit slow, but it sets the premises of the season.
The cutest and most heart-warming moments involved Amber and Haddie at the park (it’s good to have her back, at least for a couple of episodes) and as usual Kristina and Max. The worse part was the Hank’s one: WHY? What is the point of it? We don’t need his problems on screen, we want to say goodbye to our beloved Braverman. No more screentime to Hank’s family.

All in all, Parenthood is back. Get ready to buy tissues.

Vegas will air on Thursday at 10.00 pm on NBC. Are you as excited as I am about it ? Hit the comments !

  3. So sad this is the last season, they have so much more story to tell. One of the best shows on tv.. glad I have the DVDs for when I miss it after its gone.

  4. Pretty obvious you aren't a fan of the Hank character and that storyline, but maybe you could try writing an actual review instead of discounting him altogether and not even attempting to be objective.
