Love - Netflix orders two seasons of Judd Apatow comedy starring Gillian Jacobs

The people's champion* will keep streaming for a while!

It was announced today that Netflix has ordered two seasons (10 episodes + 12 episodes) of a half-hour comedy entitled Love, produced by Judd Apatow (Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, Girls). Season 1 will stream in 2016, season 2 will do the same in 2017.

Paul Rust (Comedy Bang Bang, Arrested Development season 4) and Lesley Arfin (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will be the showrunners, while Brent Forrester (The Office US) will executive produce.

Paul Rust will also star on the show. Indeed, he's the leading man, Gus, while Gillian Jacobs will play his counterpart, Mickey, as "they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid" in a "fresh, funny, unflinching, hilarious and excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships".

Apatow probably met Gillian Jacobs on the set of Girls, she will have a recurring role in the fourth season that will premiere in early 2015.

Love will début at the same time in every country where Netflix is implanted (that includes all of Western Europe as of yesterday).

Ted Sarandos said: "Judd Apatow has a unique comedic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank, often at the same time. Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners".

Judd Apatow said: "I am so excited to get to work with Paul and Lesley on this project. Netflix has been supportive in ways I couldn't create in my wildest fever dreams".

And Bruce Rosenblum, of Legendary TV (the TV branch of the studio that produced The Dark Knight trilogy, Godzilla and Pacific Rim - so crossovers are a possibility), said: "We're thrilled to be working with the wonderfully talented Judd and excited to partner with the Netflix team. We look forward to validating their support for this innovative and genuinely funny series" (it's Legendary's first TV series).

Until 2016, Gillian Jacobs will still be on the internet in Community's sixth season, streaming this Winter on Yahoo! Screen.

EDIT: I am bumping the thread because there seems to be a nasty bug (or a merry prankster) that keeps putting threads I created at 8-9PM yesterday at 7:58AM instead, 13-14 hours earlier, thus resulting in people overlooking it (not that Love is going to be the new Vampire Diaries, but that's why I tossed it in the "Misc shows" category, to give room to the 47th sneak peek of Castle). I think it's a legitimate thread, with worthy news, and I certainly put some thought/time into writing the text above (I'm not really into copy/paste of a few lines + link to EW, THR, Deadline & co.).
