With his life changed forever by the tragedy, Barry was taken in and raised by Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), the father of Barry’s best friend, Iris (Candice Patton). Now, Barry has become a brilliant, driven and endearingly geeky CSI investigator, whose determination to uncover the truth about his mother’s strange death leads him to follow up on every unexplained urban legend and scientific advancement that comes along. Barry’s latest obsession is a cutting edge particle accelerator, created by visionary physicist Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and his S.T.A.R. Labs team members, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who claim that this invention will bring about unimaginable advancements in power and medicine. Thrilled with his new powers, Barry learns how to control them with the help of Dr. Wells and his team. However, keeping his secret from his best friend Iris (Candice Patton) is proving to be harder than he thought, especially when Joe’s new partner, Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), catches her eye. 1. Aw, so Sam definitely isn't handling this well at all which isn't a surprise. They fall apart without each other.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Really, The Flash's first episode title is "City of Heroes"? You stole that one from Arrow. And again CW, "CSI investigator"? But I'm still looking forward to the show nonetheless.

Arrow's press release doesn't contain anything we didn't already know, so just bring on the episode now! And can The CW please start promoting The 100? I know it premieres a little later than the rest but we still haven't seen any promo or pictures or whatsoever.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Very true. The 100 promotion has been almost nil this hiatus!

    ReplyDelete
  4. The Originals sounds terrible - nothing appealing in the synopsis at all.

Supernatural could be more enjoyable this season, not sure if I'll watch the special or not though.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Josh should've been upgraded to Series regular!!!!

Interesting synopsises for Vd and Reign episode 2 of the season. So Mary killed Narcis son, no doubt he and Catherine will hit it off good.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Do you know when The 100 is supposed to start?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Can't wait. Hope CW sends us screeners this year too.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's odd that last season I watched the entire CW lineup other than Fridays and now I'll only be watching The 100...which btw is receiving a disturbingly low level of promotion, I know its starting later (which is also a bad move) but that's all the more reason to promote it now.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The Flash title is probably a mistake. It's probably just called Pilot haha.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Spin-off's pilots are never called "pilot" :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes and I'm really hating that! Fortunately Rothenberg and the actors are very active on social media so at least there is something. But I'm still waiting for the first promo to be released and some promotional photos, besides the one with Kane which has been the only one so far.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I second that! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. The 100 needs some promotion ASAP!

    ReplyDelete
  13. A VERY SPECIAL SUPERNATURAL SPECIAL... honestly did a 5 year old come up with that title? Going to enjoy Demon Dean as long as he sticks around. Trying not to read too much about whats coming because its too vague and annoys me, will watch after a few episodes have aired of each show.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why is Flash's series premiere called City of Heroes? That was the title of Arrow's Season 2 Premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  15. "A VERY SPECIAL SUPERNATURAL SPECIAL"

Yep, definitely sounds like a SPN title for sure, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since it's relatively the same people working on The Flash that works on Arrow, I wouldn't call it "stealing" when it comes to the title.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Rather than more "meanwhile, Castiel" plotlines, I'd love it if they had more interaction between Team Free Will in the upcoming season. Those three are the reason I watch the show. Come on, let them all interact more. Please.

Aaaahh I can't wait, really!!! One hour of Supernatural!!!!! Awesome! I wan't this right now, please :D And SEASON 10!!!!!!! BEST SHOW EVER... I need to breath.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You're so right. It's only reading your comment now that has even reminded me the 100 is due to come back. Wow CW are dropping the ball on that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Really? I didn't know that. Wow

    ReplyDelete
  21. In a way I am glad about not getting much news about the 100. Arrow is over promoted in my opinion. We know so many things about season premiere. Its just a 42 min long episode. They shouldn't spoil this much.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The Originals - I thought Josh would be a regular this season. Nothing exciting about that synopsis
The Flash - "City of Heroes"??? Can't wait for this show.
Arrow - We know more about this episode than the synopsis.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think The Flash title wasn't labeled right because it should just be called Pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not many of the characters can enter Mystic Falls but yeah Stefan is trying to move on there's not much he can really do about Bonnie and Damon though.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well, it's a midseason show the other ones aren't getting promoted yet either.

    ReplyDelete
  26. #$%^&*(&^%$#%^&%$#%^&*() SO MUCH EPICNESS!!! Fall is definitely here!! I'm ready! Let's do this!! Bring it!! Aww man this is going to be a great year!! All my shows in a row!! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lol I know it's you who commented when I see random symbols. I can't wait for the shows to premiere feels like I've been waiting forever.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hahahaahahahahaha i can't help it, you know how i get. I'm gonna be commenting my ass off this year. That's nothing new, but i feel PUMPED! There's a lot of stuff in these different series that i have been waiting for, and i've been dying to get started. This summer was torture. I was like screw summer bring fall back.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Isn't this SPN retrospective supposed to be about celebrating the past 200 episodes? Not just the ones since crappy season four when the angels joined? Where's JDM and Jim Beaver and Samantha Smith and Nicki Acroyx and Alona Tal and Fred Lehane? Sounds more like an extra-long commercial for season 10.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I know so am I I can't wait for all these shows I know Arrow is going to be even better than the first two seasons. This summer there were barely any shows to watch it's been a terrible hiatus especially for Sleepy Hollow they made us wait longer for that show than any other.

    ReplyDelete
  31. And can The CW please start promoting The 100? I know it premieres a
little later than the rest but we still haven't seen any promo or
    pictures or whatsoever.

I'm irked with the lack of CW Promotion for S2 The 100, too, but I'm furious that there's been no TV promo for S10 SPN yet, the last rerun is next week and there's nothing on until Oct 6. SPN is against MAOS this season and MAOS kicked SPN in the family jewels (lowest ratings of the season) the single time last spring MAOS aired at 9 PM instead of 8 pm.

I love The 100, too and I'm beyond sick of seeing the promos for JtV which premieres little more than a week before S2 The 100.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Flash pilot has the same title as the Arrow S2 premiere? Since when do pilots have titles anyway? And I see they still haven't fixed "CSI investigator" *facepalm*

On TVD, I love how Elena is devastated by the loss of the boyfriend who snapped her brother's neck, but there's nothing about her missing her best friend since childhood. Sums up this show perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That I agree on, not knowing much about the premiere can make for quiet some surprises when watching it (indeed unlike Arrow, which has a lot if promotion and spoilers about the premiere). But The 100 should have some promotion, if only it's a promo with old S1 footage that says "The 100 returns October 22". In this way, people don't even know about its return.

    ReplyDelete
  34. "Laurel joins Oliver's inner circle."

Yeah. That's going to go over well. Fans have just been clamoring for her to join Team Arrow. This couldn't possibly backfire.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think we will get a new promo and sneak peeks sometime october first week since they are only airing on 22nd. I am fed up of Arrow promotion. I look forward to a thrilling premiere for the 100.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That's only if an episode in the parent series served as the backdoor pilot. That was not the case with Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i don't camille to see comfort with klaus' son damn it

    ReplyDelete
  38. For Arrow, during the hiatus, i wrote a fanfic, i did a comic book, and i've been doing conversing everyday with the fanpage. Ugh, just to get through these 5 months! Out of all my shows, Arrow (and TVD) is the one I've been looking forward to the most this season. I had one show return this week (New Girl) and checked out The Mysteries of Laura yesterday (Eh, so so), but next week I have 5 turning!! And Sleepy Hollow, omg! I've missed my tall, dark and British man!! Season 2 looks sooo good.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wish Caroline Sue would stay away from my dear Enzo. I'm tired of every single male character falling in love with her and getting ruined in the process.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Seems like they are not promoting anything except for the Arrow and Flash. I haven't seen so many endless Arrow spoilers on this site since like ever. Now those 2 better be delivering accordingly. CW needs new hit and they bet all their money on Flash. Too bad young shows with some potential (like T100) could suffer collateral damage because of this disproportional promotion.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i dont think the 100 would be a collateral damage. there were less pr from that show from the get start and s1 made people look to tune out for this show .maybe for new shows

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is his character in General Hospital dead?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Damon & bonnie won't come back to the land of living so soon, that's for sure.I don't understand what enzo's intentions are! What i'm confused is why isn't elena upset lossing her childhood friend bonnie when she's coping with her BF's loss?

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's difficult for me-both these two are my personal favorite but that being said,i agree with you.I don't want enzo to turn out like another chess piece in her confusing & seemingly never ending messy love life!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one concerned at just how hard AOS is going to spank SPN. Hopefully The Flash can give it a bit of a boost.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think it depends on how it's done. If they put her in the foundry during missions or instantly running around in black leather w/ Roy, Dig and Oliver people are going to freak out. But if she plays a part in the team that is coherent with her capabilities (like working the law side of things) while training to become Black Canary it will be fine. No reasons to complain!

    ReplyDelete
  47. We already know that Elena's feelings for Damon got exaggerated with the sire bond. Even with the sire bond broken, I don't see how those feelings wouldn't still be exaggerated to some extent. The difference is that Elena has free will, she just doesn't know how to use it. In her relationship with Damon, her world centered around him in spite of the fact that he did anything he wanted. When Elena said or did something that Damon didn't like, he found ways to force what he wanted or he pushed her away. It's an abusive relationship, whether or not Damon realizes that he's emotionally harming Elena. Sometimes the behaviors are just automatic. Coming out of that, it would take a while for Elena to cope after everything else she's been through.

Elena is still capable of grieving Bonnie, though. We've already seen that. I think that's part of the problem. It's probably easy to live in denial about someone being dead if they've already died and been resurrected once. There's no shock value. I agree with you that Bonnie was Elena's best friend, although I think they've started drifting apart. That was why no one noticed for three weeks that Elena was actually Katherine. Caroline was always more of a frenemy to Elena than a genuine friend, and Bonnie probably started inching away from Elena during Season 4. There was a lot going on and both Bonnie and Elena went through serious changes.

  48. "Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) spirals downward while mourning the loss of her daughter" she could have gone with HER! other than pining for Elijah what is there for her in NOLA thats more important for the orphan girl who so graved a family to leave her baby? and "After months of being holed up inside his compound, Klaus" is that the organic storytelling JP was spouting about not the fact that TO needs TVD these days and TVD had the time jump because it make no sense for Klaus to wait months like some lost schoolgirl for revenge honestly the more i hear of this show the more i mouren the old "real"? Originals from their tvd glory days.

  49. Reign : This synopsis makes wanna catch up on the show so badly! I'd given up thinking we'd get another damn love triangle in perfect CW style but it turned out I was wrong. I'll definitely tune in once I'm done watching season 1.
The Flash : All the spoilers I've read about it screamed "very promising new CW show over here" and it makes me feel sorry I never watched Arrow. Plus it also stars Rick Cosnett who was really scary on TVD. His character was the only "villain" that had the right amount of charisma and craziness to him and his SL wasn't good. Kudos! Well I guess I'll be there when it premieres.
Arrow : This synopsis makes me feel sorry I never watched Arrow. It's now on top of my (very long) "must watch" list.
The Originals : I like it, but frankly there's nothing new here. It's obviously better off this way as I still want to be surprised by what happens in the episode, but still nothing new.
TVD : Looks like there's another Caroline/Enzo road trip to look forward to. And I'm very much on board to be honest! I like when those two characters interact. It's always funny and deep (I loved it when they had to talk about morals last year, etc...). Hopefully though they won't make another triangle with Stefan, Enzo and Care Bear as the stars cause that plot device has become boring and overused as hell. That said, it looks like Caroline was already looking for answers and Enzo got himself into the mix.
On another note, it'd be great for Elena's character if we'd get to see her take some action at some point. But I would also love to see her grieve over her BFF's death (at least in the first episode) as that would be a credit to her (long gone?) decency. Let's hope the synopsis doesn't do her justice and that this will happen in the future. Still it's good she's on the "move on" boat, things might start to get interesting for her again.
But I guess the most interesting part of that is the one that's about Tripp and his "not-so-good" agenda. His protection program (cult) thing really sounds creepy! Will he pull a Darth Vador and tell Matt he's his daddy? LOL, I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if he had connections to some of the founders' families to some extent. Wait and see. I'm even intrigued about Jeremy and Sarah.
As for Bamon I'm glad we finally got to "hear" about them, but really we've got nothing new lol! The fact they'll fight together to get out of this mess is pretty much a given!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I do worry a little bit too, but that spring number your talking about was more preemptions in in multiple markets then AOS I think (if I remember correctly). And that lowest rating was the same as TVD and Arrow that week.
Furthermore SPN one way or another would end up between rock and the hard place . I think running against AoS (and not everyone who likes horror-fantasy in crazy for comics, I wont care less for example), then against SH with probably 100% audience overlap.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Honestly elena seems more closer to caroline than with bonnie now.Who would've thought that.A lot has really changed since the pilot.I guess, with bonnie living on borrowed time and everyone preparing for the disappearance of the other side, bonnie's death was not as shocking to them as was damon's.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Are you catching up on arrow this hiatus? Also, are you planning on watching the flash too?

As for TVD-i am a little confused regarding enzo's real intention for sticking around.I know he's a series regular now and all that & i love that but i hope they explain this properly.Last season when he came back from the other side,he seemed more than eager to get the hell out of that place & never look back. So,what happened during this 4 months should be shown to some extent to maintain continuity IMO.I would also love to see elena talking to alaric about her childhood BFF's loss while discussing her BF's loss with alaric or atleast caroline.Last i heard from some spoiler is that bamon is being kept captive in some parallel world purgatory where you can sense and see your loved ones but cannot communicate with them in any manner whatsoever and the coven of the wonder twin is somehow related to this problem.Seems really intriguing.I can't wait to see the reveal of their whereabouts.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Seems like julie plec's lame ass storytelling has transpired into TO now!

    ReplyDelete
  54. TVD and TO got decent enough promotion too. It's SPN & the 100 they royally ignored this hiatus.SPN has nothing to worry about coz of their ultra-loyal fanbase over these years but the 100 still needs time to build on that,so the 100 although will take advantage of the lead-in,still could get hurt to some extent!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think part of this is that they are worried about TVD and TO. Both fell last season and they have relied on TVD as their top rated show and TO was seen as the next strong player that could go along with TVD and be a power player. They had less expectations for The 100, which did pretty well. As you said Supernatural has a fan base that is pretty loyal. So I think they threw their efforts at the shows they were relying on for big ratings and that may be in trouble.

  56. I thought it was strange that Elena was shocked for about five seconds when she heard that Caroline slept with Klaus, but then Elena acted like nothing happened. If she mentioned it to Caroline, it didn't happen on-screen. I'm not saying Elena should have complained, but she had a bigger right to complain than Tyler did. Elena didn't even mention the hypocrisy of what Caroline did, after the way she treated Damon and Elena throughout their relationship. True that the relationship was toxic, but what Caroline did was over the top. Even spoiler journalists were in shock about it.

Elena probably clung to Caroline a little bit more in Season 5 because Bonnie was dead and then dating Elena's brother, and that did get weird for Elena. I don't know what Elena and Caroline's friendship will be like now. I don't think they'll be exactly BFFs, especially since the characters are supposed to be all scattered around with their own stories. Something will give Caroline the idea that it's okay to chase Elena's ex-boyfriend relentlessly. That's what the latest spoilers say that Caroline will do for the foreseeable future. I think Caroline would only act like that if her friendship with Elena has reverted back to what it was in Season 1. Caroline wasn't even really Elena's friend back then. She tried to lure Stefan away from Elena, and Stefan had to tell Caroline that it was never going to happen. Now it looks like Stefan will have to do that again, but this time Caroline won't give up. I believe what Nina Dobrev said about Elena not reacting much to this because 1) Elena didn't try to fight Caroline the first time and it was Stefan who had to shut Caroline down, and 2) Elena has much bigger problems than Stefan's love life.

  57. TVD will have their final season next year most probably,SPN has to end some time soon too,it cannot go on forever, arrow still decent enough but as big as they would've wanted,TO not satisfying enough-CW is in big trouble if the flash doesn't hit the spot right away and becomes a hit like TVD,arrow,GG.90210 was in their 1st season.

  58. Michael malarkey recently said he had a makeout scene with a certain cast member seeing which the fans would go nuts.I know this is a shallow question, but since you have the most logical reasoning among all these commentators IMO,i'm asking you who would that person be? I don't see it being caroline or elena and even ivy who is hooking up with stefan, sarah has her own storyline with jeremy and involved with her,jo is with alaric and bonniw is lead-that leaves no one except the male members!

    ReplyDelete
  59. If it's a cast member, it would have to be either Caroline or Elena. Caroline might do it to try to make Stefan jealous, or Elena might try start something while she's all crazy on the drugs. Enzo is supposed to be the one to bring Ivy around, so he could also have some twisted connection with her. There have been a lot of shippers pushing for Cenzo, and before he got around Caroline, people were screaming for Elenzo. It could really be any of those three girls, I guess, but definitely not Sarah or Bonnie.

Reading this after hearing about a rain kiss, I have to wonder if these actors are yanking people's chains just a little. They could also have been misquoted by bloggers who attended the Las Vegas convention.

  60. Michael's quote was in celebbuzz's interview video,so no chance of misquote on this particular one.

  62. Hi ;) !
About Arrow and The Flash, I really don't know what to do lol! It seems I'm gonna have to hurry up and binge-watch Arrow (which I don't always have time to do :D !). Do you watch the show yourself? Do you intend to watch its spin-off as well? If so what would be your (and anyone really) advice on the matter ;) ! Could I be starting The Flash while catching up on Arrow, for instance?
As for Enzo, I think you're right we need to know what he's been up to during the hiatus. Maybe he was the one behind all the Bamon trends on twitter lol!
In all seriousness and (bad) joking aside, he certainly must have had some extra information the others didn't have access to and that's why he stuck around. Also Damon was his only friend - without him he's pretty much alone and he adressed that earlier in the season - and he died to save him and his brother so that could explain it. It's a very "simple" explanation but that's all I got ;) ! I could be wrong of course and I wouldn't mind him some sort of a free agent in this world.
Going back to Elena, I'd love to see that too but I don't have much hope on the matter. Finger crossed I'll be surprised and that I'm being unnecesseraly mean. I just think it would be great for the character's popularity to make her acknowledge her friends and family again even though we do have to explore her grief! Also, generally speaking it'd be great to see all the girl's friendship to be shown a little more because I feel like it's been sidelined way too often lately.
That said, I didn't really know about this purgatory or at least didn't know how it worked at all, so thanks a lot for the info! Also I 100% agree with you I do believe the wonder twins are connected to Bamon's SL one way or another. They might be the ones that could potentially help to bring them back but they won't wanna do it because the consequences will just be apocalyptic... literally! Just a theory though.

  63. I am watching arrow from the pilot.Season 1 was average, typical superhero savior stuff, heavy on action, less on character development and less serialized format.Pretty enjoyable, entertaining hour.Season 2 brought their A game, characters became more developed, storyline expanded and the stakes were raised a lot.The cliffhangers became a lot more thrilling and serious and the serial became a lot serialized.Shocking development in some unexpected episodes. This sophomore season catapulted this show to a must-watch list for me.As for flash, besides BatB,i watch every CW shows present and in the past(baring hellcats, emily owens MD & ringer)-so of course,i'm gonna watch the flash.I like grant gustin a lot,he's perfect for this role.As for binge-watching it,i would watch arrow 46 episodes in one go and then start watching the flash, understanding every detail would be a lot easier IMO.For me these would take 9-10 days at most to watch,so wouldn't be a problem to catch up.
As for TVD-enzo died to take vengeance on the brothers & destroy their relationship over the process coz he had nothing to loose at the time when he knew damon killed maggie, the love of his life.Of course,it was after dying,he realized he made a grave mistake seeing the state of the other side and then he was desperate to find a way out of that place.I think that was his primary motivation to track down silas when he lost julian's GF into the unknown void.

  64. there's a few shows out there that have the same episode titles, I also think it is purposely named so it is connected to arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I don't think they will put them together, I think they will just have Enzo flirt with her for his amusement, If they put Caroline and Enzo together, this is going to make Enzo look like a cheap Klaus knock off.

  66. Very true.I want him to have a decent storyline without being someone's doormat BF!

  67. I would buy the 'preemptions in several markets' but for one 'factoid' :) - TO/SPN were preempted in several major markets before and after this particular episode 9.18, Metafiction (that I considered one of the season's worst, btw) and the lowest demo received was 0.8. And I don't quite recall what MAOS received the previous week at it's normal time - 1.9 sticks in my head for some reason - but this particular MAOS episode was definitely "up" at least 0.1 maybe even 0.2.

I fully agree that it could be much, much worse if SPN aired opposite SH - it's actually a pretty common discussion on TV boards that if JtV under-performs and doesn't get a back 9 to replace it with SPN to 'help' TO. I'd rather Reign be moved to Mondays and IZombie (or The Messengers) leading out of TVD.

Like Ross I hope The Flash as SPN's lead-in helps both shows but I'm a little worried that 'comic book' fans will switch channels after Flash and watch MAOS instead of NOT changing channels.

It's not only MAOS 'SPN-rating wise' has to worry about; there's NCIS:NOLA, too that may/may not outperform NCIS:LA. I maintained all last season that one of the reasons why SPN S9 was slightly 'up' over S8 (overall) is because Modern Family and Criminal Minds were stronger competition the NCIS:LA and the comedy lineup.

Do you mean Mark Berman - the TV Blogger/SPN cheerleader turned 'hater'? Yeah, if ratings are down he will be partying. There's a fair chance though if S10 ratings are >10% down over 'Dean-Centric' S9 that other excuses will be paraded out - Demon Dean storyline too short/ too much Sam/not enough Cas interaction with just the boys (erm... Dean, Demon+MoC or MoC-cured Dean).

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yep, that Mark. He has had couple of miserable years with SPN hold steady, may be he'll has his relieve finally. As many of ex-fans and just posters here who is simply irritated by SPN still on air.
I really hope this show still holds just fine, but considering constant hate coming even from own fans on a top of tough competition this year I wont be surprise if ratings drop a little. I expect 0.8-0.9 this season. Good enough for 10 years old veteran.

    ReplyDelete
  69. As mush as I've seen on discussion boards there is a #$$$ storm brewing against SPN Special because ( OMG, how could they !) they didn't include all gazillion actors from earlier seasons and/or included some who didn't deserve to be there. So there are 2 boycotting calls in progress: for both Special and 200th. This fandom never stops amusing me (rolling my eyes for many years now)

That's the ratings I expect too, down 10-15% irregardless of reason except for show age and lack of much TV promotion for S10 - and Carver/Singer comments about there is no Big Bad (s) in the planning - yet. Unless moved (and potentially ratings more crushed) to Mondays IF JtV fails, SPN still faces MAOS and NCIS:NOLA which is a complete ratings unknown.

Yep, ITA with your 'fan' assessment - if the loudest online fans (and there's at least several subsets of 'loud' fans) had a real, enduring impact on the writing of a season not one/three episodes/season that are truly 'fanservice-y' who knows what the ratings would be. Ratings for S9 may have been better but they may have been depressed even more.

Fortunately there has been little proof (ratings -wise) that the Nielsen SPN viewers care a whole lot about 'ships', whether Dean or Sam has greater screentime or whether Castiel is in the episode or not.

I don't always like everything the show does but I still 'live' watch every episode I can, buy episode downloads AND each season's boxset. I would never wish the show's ratings to decline 'just because the show did something I didn't like"; I'd just stop watching if I felt that strongly negative and I certainly would stop 'talking about it' online. I'm still "here" and that's because the show is still doing more that "I like/love" and far less than "I dislike/hate". I can't understand the many posts I've read over the years for former fans who claim to have stopped watching and why in 'Season xyz' and feel the need to state that over and over again on at least one fanboard.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's really hard to judge with SPN. As you say, fans are complaining. I know of at least one group planning to boycott the 200th episode because Cas isn't in it. I've heard another group is planning to boycott the retrospective because they don't think the right things will be shown. OTOH, fans have talked about boycotting before and it hasn't affected the ratings that much.

SPN has the plus that people keep finding it on Neflix. I have run people who say they just marathoned it and are chomping at the bit for season 10. They balance those who say they are really going to stop watching this time. SPN can't go on forever, and it is unlikely that it will continue to improve its ratings, but they have a lot of cushion and they can fall a bit before anyone has to worry about cancellation. I have never been able to predict ratings. Your 0.8 to 0.9 sounds reasonable and would still have it near the top of what the CW was doing last season. I guess we'll see.

That is so true. I think people who marathoned 9 seasons are much less judgmental and overanalyzing because they don't have "invest # years of my life, so show owns me big" attitude. I am just rewatched

I can name few posters on this site who do this : every time in every barely-related topic, like it some kind of heroic act they are so proud of - quitting TV show. OMG! I quit so many in resent years, some very late in (season 5-6), but I never had an urge to even open the article about it.
Anyway, I guess we have to wait and see. May be SPN will surprise all of us once again.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Lol, I agree. Every time I see a post 'like that' from an 'ex Fan' I think of one my favorite 'Meg 2.0-isms' from S6 Caged Heat:
DEAN: I knew this was a trap.
MEG: What do you want, a cupcake?

Seriously, I think self-styled-ex-fans-who-still-post-negatively-about-SPN must want cupcakes, cookies, or standing ovations for quitting such a terrible show (eyeroll). Current show fans - online both online fans who are sometimes very critical about some elements - and the SPN Nielsen viewers - are nontheless still tuning in. I guess the 'ex fans' think we are just too lazy to switch the channel.

I'm (mostly) looking forward to S10. I have slight concerns about the 'sneak peek' interviews of RS/JC - it now sounds if there's no solid plan in place for the back end of the season. Was this according to Carver's '3 year plan' or is it intentionally vague because 'they' want to the 'back 3-4' to set up for post S10? I wish The CW/SPN PTBs would something early. (Of course if the S10 ratings substantially tank they/The CW may want an 'ending' - possibly a short S11 to break the longest running US SciFi show record)

  75. Oh ok thanks a lot for the advice ;) ! I'll definitely check out both shows cause I wanna what happens in them so badly :D !!
And I guess you're right about Enzo! The Denzo relationship certainly very complex and I guess we'll have to wait and see what his motivations are next season. I can't wait! Thanks for the binge-watching tips! Have a nice day :D !
