The Critically Acclaimed Comedy “Mom” to Premiere Oct. 30 at 8:30 PM As Part of the Network’s Launch of Its Thursday Entertainment Lineup

Last Season’s Top New Comedy “The Millers” Premieres Monday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 PM

Capitalizing on the early success from its premiere Monday, CBS will double up on THE BIG BANG THEORY to open the night for the next three weeks. An original episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY will air at 8:00 PM, followed by a rebroadcast of a different episode (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on Monday, Sept. 29, Monday, Oct. 6 and Monday, Oct. 13.

The critically acclaimed comedy MOM, originally scheduled to premiere next Monday at 8:30 PM, will now premiere as part of CBS’s signature Thursday comedy block. MOM will premiere after THE BIG BANG THEORY on Oct. 30 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT), the night CBS launches its Thursday entertainment lineup (following THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL). MOM will return to Mondays (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on Jan. 5.

The sophomore season of THE MILLERS, last year’s #1 new comedy, originally scheduled to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 30, will now debut Monday, Oct. 20 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT). THE MILLERS will return to Thursdays (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on Jan. 8.

CBS’s new Monday lineup had a successful launch behind big premieres of THE BIG BANG THEORY and the new drama SCORPION. On premiere Monday, CBS was first in viewers (13.19m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (4.7/12) and was a solid second in adults 18-49 (3.5/10). Compared to premiere Monday last year, CBS was up +42% in adults 25-54, +30% in adults 18-49 and +57% in viewers.

  1. WHAT?WHY?URGH.
At least Mom has an awesome lead-in, it will save the show for another season I hope, it's so good.

  2. What a mix-up. I don't know what they are doing... are they ordering 40 episodes of TBBT this season? I guess it's good that Mom will be exposed to TBBT in November. They probably want to make Mom a success and they dind't want it to move with TBBT from Monday to Thursday and than back to Monday in January, so they decided to give it a late start so it doesn't shuffle to much around. But i think when Mom moves back to Monday it wouldn't make much difference... i doubt the ratings will be as good as after TBBT no matter on what night or when.

The Millers will bomb hard on Monday and i hope it doesn't drag down 2 Broke Girls!

  3. Ah i didn't see that the next weeks the second TBBT episode will be a repeat. I thought they will air 2 episodes in the next mondays... So no 40 Episodes this season haha

  4. I know right... 2 Broke Girls needs to stay for another, at least, 5 years IMO.

  5. This makes absolutely no sense. Moving The Millers to Monday night behind the same lead-in where it was last year. Then, when TBBT moves back to Thursdays it will have Mom as lead-out and TM will stay where it as, leading out of 2 Broke Girls. And next year Mom and The Millers swap again to basically get the same result. Weird, very weird.

I hope that 2BG and TM combination won't drag down Scorpion and NCIS: LA. I do believe it's a good thing though that Scorpion has TBBT repeats as lead-in instead of Mom, because it does seem more compatible. But I do hope that TBBT repeats put up some good numbers.

  6. Sounds like CBS is giving both Mom and The Millers an equal chance (or close to an equal chance) to air after BBT on Thursdays.

  7. I would prefer Mom being aired from Jan to May.
I mean let's face it, the comedy that will be renewed will be the one that has TBBT as lead-in.
    In this case, The Millers.

  8. Mom has a fair shot at renewal too.

  9. I rather have Mom renewed... Maybe they will change their mind again, when The Millers bomb on Monday and Mom will improve from last Seasons after TBBT

    ReplyDelete
  10. If they decided about renewal in 2014.

  11. Okay, I am a little sad that Mom will not to returning this Monday. I was really looking forward to it. But I am happy that it gets a great lead-in.
But why switch The Millers and Mom back in January? That makes absolutely no sense.

Hmm, whats CBS's aim with this...

Perhaps they're trying to sabotage Gotham? TBBT and Gotham probably share a similar target audience and CBS wants to keep as many people from changing the channel...perhaps?

Either way, it just seems weird.

  13. People can tune into Gotham at 8:30 pm after the original TBBT. Of course, Gotham will have already run for half an hour so people might be reluctant to start in the middle of an episode.

  14. Mom will be clearly sampled after having had the TBBT lead-in for a few weeks. CBS then moves it back to Mondays hoping that the audience who have "discovered" the show will follow it to Monday. And then CBS got a stronger Monday, at least the 8:30 pm hour. All they need then is 2 Broke Girls benefiting from its lead-out.

  15. Basically CBS is only doing this for Scorpion. I read that Mom skews female while TBBT and Scorpion both skew male. So it makes sense to have a TBBT rerun lead into Scorpion. It does surprise me that CBS is making all these moves just for Scorpion, but if Scorpion continues to do well, CBS will have a stronger Monday night.

  16. Okay, so what will air at 9PM starting Jan 8?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Depends on how The McCarthys is doing. If it does well, it might get a full season. If it doesn't, then either it gets pulled from the schedule and Mike and Molly or The Odd Couple will get a Thursday spot, or CBS is letting the McCarthys finish its 13-episode run meaning it would still be airing in January as it starts in October.

    ReplyDelete
  18. But The McCarthys airs at 9:30 in October, so why are the moving TAAHM in it's slot in Jan?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have no idea about that. Could be either a typo or they move TAAHM to the later time slot to make room for either Mike & Molly or The Odd Couple. They did switch The Crazy Ones and TAAHM last year too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. da hell are they doing? they want both shows to be a sucess out of having TBBT as a lead for a few weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I wonder why they move CSI to Sundays??? It will flop

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ok, so Mom is on Thursday and The Millers on Monday till January?
    Make up your mind CBS!

  23. Don't care if the Millers survive and could the sound engineers please tone down those Two Broke Girls loudmouths. They sound and act as if they are emoting for the upper balconies in a stage production. Really like Mom and TBBT.
