    It has nothing to do with ABC, it was Marlowe's "respect the process" decision. Blame goes to where it belongs.

    Haha, multicam series always make for better blooper reels because there's more than one angle for a cockup. Susan Sullivan never leaves her character, ever!


    I can understand why the deleted scene was just that. That much vulnerability and romance was very much unprecedented for the series at that point, and the fans would be demanding like hell that we see more of it, which isn't an expectation the creative team can make happen (for reasons unknown).


    Still, a really good idea to set that scene in Castle's office, where in essence their connection began, because it was from there that Castle wrote most of his books and Kate grew to like his writing

    Queue the hate...but I'm glad that they cut that part of the scene from the finale, that part isn't what the show is about. We knew where they were headed, there was no question and we were rewarded in After the Storm with the opening scene with the afterglow. I understand the rage about the deleted Densi scene but this isn't even in the same league, this deleted scene was more Mistresses than Castle.

    I am okay with this particular scene being cut. The aired scene was perfectly paced and totally romantic. I am happy to see the entire footage though. This isn't like the Densi scene that was cut because the absence of their scene changes the context of their relationship. That isn't the case with Caskett. If the production department is reading this, can you please ... Please fix the lighting problem. Some of the Castle scenes are so poorly lighted, making them too dark.

    It's called editing. Sometimes a scene can be good on itself, but hinder the overall flow of the episode, or be replaced with a shorter scene that conveys the same point.

    Good that they kept that deleted scene from always off the final cut because it seriously doesnt add anything to the episode the way it ended is perfect.

    wow... some really great sneaks and I really wish that both deleted scenes were left in they both added a lot to the eps they were in and the show overall... this show really likes Slapsgiving..

    Now that I've seen it, I think I understand why Mil/Mar showed it where they showed it. The scene was a great example of a fantastic scene that while needed on paper, it added absolutely nothing in the editing/final cuts of a motion picture/tv show. In other words, as much as you want to make something happen visually for the fans, it just doesn't add anything to the story telling and because of time constraints, it must be cut.

    No hate. I think you're spot on. What aired in the episode was subtle, elegant, and got the full picture across extremely effectively. This makes a nice DVD extra, but I do think that's exactly where it belongs.

    They used a little bit of the extended Always scene in the door scene we saw on TV; check 0:31 where she touches his lips.

    Veritas ended the right way. Whether we see her "putting away for good" her mom's ring or not is unnecessary and actually removes from that story. It'll always be with her, but before it was all she had and it consumed her. The fact she's ADDED the engagement ring on her necklace like in 06x01 to me had more meaning, she's letting ppl in, not putting away ppl she loved.


    As for the 'Always' ending, it's a tender moment in the deleted scene, but would have been a bit flat after that climatic initial encounter and the great soundtrack that went with it.

    Glad that Always deleted scene was deleted. It slowed things down and was pretty anti-climatic.


    And the bloopers this year aren't as funny...

    To each one, its own - IMO, what makes the deleted scene more beautiful is precisely the fact that things were slowed down, because it made it more love and less frenzy and lust:)

    I didn't say I didn't like it. I thought it was done really really well and I really like it. But as an episode closer, it wouldn't have been a good one. The original ending was perfect as it ended on a high, 'OMG' note. But if this was left in the ep, the tone would have changed dramatically and the momentum would have been lost. Good on the writers for cutting this out.


    This scene should have been in the s5 premiere. Maybe at the start or as a flashback when Castle says "so this isn't a dream."
