I’m told that Warner Bros covets him to play the role of Randall Flagg in The Stand, the adaptation of Stephen King’s apocalyptic masterpiece novel that Josh Boone will direct.
This is by no means a firm situation, but it’s understandable why the studio thinks McConaughey would be a compelling and persuasive force of evil in the film. Flagg was such a force of evil that King used him in several of his works including The Stand.

Not sure how I feel about this since I can't see him as Flagg. This could be interesting, though.

ReplyDeleteSo many false starts and passes on the movies/ series that I just do not care anymore. Maybe once something.... if something is ever finalized I will start caring again.

ReplyDeleteI agree. I have been waiting for a very long time (and check online every other week) for The Dark Tower to be picked up by some network. It is one of my favorite series.

ReplyDeleteI just want to see The Stand on the big screen. I bought the four-part miniseries and it was ok, but a big movie budget would be great for The Stand. Looking forward to it. The book was awesome.
I would love HBO to tackle the Dark Tower, I really think a cable series is the only way it could work, movies just wouldn't be enough. Love the idea of Olyphant as Roland, could definitely see him playing the Gunslinger.
ReplyDeleteI think it will happen one day and I'm sure the Stand will as well but I really hope they are done right because so many Stephen King novels have failed to translate well on screen.
Great choice. He was so good in True Detective.
