  1. Commuting, depending on how long I have to wait for public transit, I can watch up to 2 hours worth of television. I also started watching shows I'm only a casual viewer of while cooking and doing dishes.

Lack of a social life, althought my tv shows are probably the reason I have no social life

  3. I don't make room. I've had to drop about 6 shows this year.

Now i follow like 10 telefilms. I love it. I watch them with my daughter and i think is too much to view but... Italian's tv do nothing.. so i watch more american telefilm.
    Hugs from Italy to everyone.

  5. I have a dish Hopper that lets me record 6 shows at once and I watch when I can. But even with that I have dropped several shows that had built up to 6 eps on the hopper, figured if I did not care enough then why record them. Also it helps that I am retired and have more time than most folks. I don't watch unless I have time to stop what I am doing and really watch, I learned with Supernatural that a lot is missed if I am not really tuned into the show.

Mine's more a combination of the above list minus the last one ...

  7. Hulu... can watch my shows at anytime I wish so I can fit them all in on my own schedule and don't really have to make special arrangements to be able to see them all.

  8. Mine's a combination of the first four.

  9. Mine's a combination of the first three...

  10. I don't really sleep much so I watch all my shows at night

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am lucky to work from home, so I usually watch 2 shows along the day, when I take a break. If it is high season and I have a lot to watch I might watch one more show in the evening.

  13. Lack of sleep and lack of social life :)

  14. If you must know I'm a "Time Lord" capable of bending time and I don't need 8 hrs. of sleep a day! So far the poll results show that a lot of people on this site are "homeless" who somehow have access to the internet and cable ready TV or are "serving time" which would explain the internet and cable TV being available..................I'm not judging anyone though! Nobody, 4 NOW!!!
PS - shout - out to Mercy and the Lost Girl Fandom...............really COOL/GOOD poll question, thanks!

Well, I'd say lack of social life since I don't go to party and stuff, but I still hang around with friends and we go out for drinks and stuff, so maybe that's not the right option. I don't know, I usually watch TV episodes while I'm having breakfast or lunch, I make time like around 4-6 pm and I watch different stuff everyday, so I don't actually sacrifice much of anything in order to watch TV, unless it's an ended show and I'm binge watching it (as I'm doing with Nikita right now)

    ReplyDelete
  16. huh, I submitted that poll, I think last year November?!?! Cool. Totally forgot about it.
I think I submitted it twice (not sure it worked the first time) and added the option: lucky my friends watch the same stuff.
I got a seasonal and people job, so it's lack of sleep and social life (because I don't want to relax with friends had enough people around all day). And I am so lucky that in winter I get to see much more shows ;-), cause less work, well actually I should be reeding much more stuff than I do. For instnace last winter I still was watching TVD, but I droped them as soon as my season startet. I only watched AoS, Arrow, The 100 and Revolution on a regular basis this spring. And now I don't miss it.

  19. Lack of social life or "other"

I definitely don't go out as much as I use to, but honestly being 33 the bar scene and partying all the time really doesn't do it for me anymore, not to into yoga, and I hate running, ect and also a lot of my friends have gotten married, starting to have kids, ect.

I also would have picked "other" because, except for Sunday nights, I usually don't have to many confrontations since most of my shows are spread apart across the year, however on those occations where there is a conflict, I usually watch my favorite and DVDR the other(s) and either watch them later that evening or on other nights where not much is on.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hmm...I'm a freelancer and work mainly from my own computer at home...sometimes keeping some extremely odd hours, along the way. I record most of "my" shows to watch when I need to give my brain a rest or when I'm running a simulation that I only need to look in on once every half hour, or less. That said, I don't watch -- or comment on -- nearly as many shows as most of the people on this site. I don't know how I'd get anything done, if I did.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I Wake up 2-3 hours before school/work so I can watch the new episodes that aired the previous evening. And often when I'm home and there's Nothing to do I watch some series + my evening/night routine before I go to bed included at least one new episode of some series I like and follow!

  22. Lack of Social Life, lack of sleep.

  23. Lack of social life. lol

My friends at college and I don't really hang out outside of class and my high school friends and my family I only see in the summer and on vacations since we aren't in the same town anymore (I moved).

I prefer to stay home at night and relax anyways - especially during the week. I also watch a lot of my fall shows online (the ones that have time conflicts with other more loved shows of mine or conflict with chores or homework). I watch them on Hulu if I can, or on the network's website. I know how to cut commercials on Hulu so I catch up on several shows in a row when on there in less time. Hopefully that trick doesn't go fast. Shhh...don't tell Hulu!

    ReplyDelete
  24. lol If we're in jail, most of us are in "solitary".

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lack of social life and sleep along with marathoning weekends. Let's just say that streaming video is my friend.Without it there would be no Last Week in TV and I'd be quote-less. Still I get behind and have to drop shows like crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's not much of an issue for me. Usually I let them stack up and watch at my convenience. There are few episodes I watch episode after episode. Only one right now is 24. Besides I couldn't watch them life even if I wanted, being on a different continent and all. I got plenty time right now that is summer, and currently doing some catching up.

    ReplyDelete
  27. As I download the majority of the shows I watch I transfer them over to my mini-tablet and watch shows on the train to work which is around about 40mins one way so I get an average drama episode in. Then I combine that with the occasional marathon weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Victoria Llanos5 July 2014 at 18:18

I download most then transfer them to my smarttv and sabe them for sundays, or the ocassional lazy afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely lack of sleep....I work two jobs and go to school so I have very little free time...Hulu is my best friend for shows that I keep up on and Netflix/Amazon Prime are must haves for the shows I miss during the regular season and binge watch over the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I record a bunch on good nights and then watch them on the weekend when there's not much on. Sat. night is sports night here. Also some I binge on during repeat weeks like this past one when holidays mean nothing new.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's interesting to think about which causes what. Do I have a lack of social life because I watch so many tv shows, or do I watch tv shows because I have a lack of social life? Which was first: the lack of social life or the tv shows? Could also be a bit of both.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Mostly lack of work I think. Although in this case, I include school-related activities as my 'work'. I don't always do as much as I intend to do for university. I can watch an episode early in the morning/afternoon and when I've finished the episode and processed everything (and checked SpoilerTV, Twitter, and other for early reviews/reactions), the morning/afternoon might be half or completely gone. Also, I've skipped a few lectures but that was mostly during this past course when I started watching Lost.

My social life is moderate, could be better, could be worse, though I am not sure which was first (lack of social life or watching tv shows) and caused the other.
I don't often get out of bed early in the morning to watch a show as I used to, though when it comes to big episodes (recently The 100 finale and Under the Dome premiere) I might not sleep well and wake up early (due to the excitement) and watch the episode because I'm awake anyway.
Marthon weekends, not so much. I usually don't have enough patience to wait for the weekend to watch a new episode. And I have other things to do (like living that moderate social life I have).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Record episodes, wait until I have two or three to watch in a row, and fast-forward through the ad breaks. If I like what I see, keep recording and add to the list of DVDs to buy. Lately I've started watching episodes online, e.g. Orphan Black on SBS On Demand and Once Upon A Time on 7Plus. While the channels websites still have ad breaks, they are much shorter than airing live. If this had been available when Lost was airing, for example, I would not have given up in frustration; episodes of Lost scheduled to start at 8.30pm routinely did not start before 8.40, sometimes 8.50, and rarely ended before 10.15 due to all the extra-long ad breaks. I grew up on channels without ad breaks, and refuse to tolerate them. Some shows I won't bother watching until they are available on DVD, e.g. Believe; Nine started running 'coming soon' ads for it, about a week before the cancellation was announced, then dropped the ads and didn't schedule the show. Nine I refuse to watch on principle; I remember how they treated Farscape and Babylon 5, and the live-on-air abusive tirade against all science fiction fans by one of their star presenters, and I do not forgive. DVDs I can watch any time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmmm there should be an All of the above option. To balance it out it has to be a little bit of everything.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It probably starts with having nothing else to do, there you start watching shows and once you're hooked you start choosing the show over other activities. That's my theory.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lack of social life...which is completely fine with me! XD

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey nobody! Can't wait for S4!!!! Been keeping out of the fandom though. Was a bit to intense and time consuming for me. Glad you liked the poll. At the time of submitting I was kinda watching 40 Shows due to lack of work but as soon as contracts came in, I started to drop a lot. LG will always be on my top. Just waiting for it to air again.

    ReplyDelete
  38. In winter I work a lot from home and I find tv series a great way to procrastinate, but then I end up watching to many.....

    ReplyDelete
  39. mhhm that sounds very efficient. I think I will try that out.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lack of a social life. And I wake up at 6am on Thursday mornings to d/l and watch Arrow.

When I had exams in May, I had to prioritise and drop certain shows. I was left with just watching The Following/24:LAD, The Tomorrow People, Person of Interest and Arrow while the rest remain (and still are) unwatched.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm out of Uni and freelance now, so happy I had not realized there is so much to watch on the net or I would probably still be at uni...., especially because there are no fees here in Germany.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 248 of you watch tv for lack of a social life..that's sad.

    ReplyDelete
  43. lack of social life and only watching what I want to watch. Not anything that isn't worth my time/interest (Although it usually takes 3-4 episodes for me to go 'oh, wow... now I get whats going on!'.) Also, spacing TV throughout the year so I don't marathon or binge watch a whole series in a day/month, and I can, during summer, watch big network scripted television.
Also, [hope/not hope] that shows get cancelled so that I can pick up a new show.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's an honest answer and as far as I can see on the comments below the definition of social life can be very different. Some refer to it as going out partying - something I do not relate to cause I do different stuff with my friend than going out every weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, I know the feeling. I have a pretty good rutine going and can normally fit two shows in. I don´t have as much to watch in the summer, so right now I´m only watching one show a day.
I have to watch them on my computer, because I live in Europe, so I´m not depended on a certain time. I love being outdoors, so I don´t watch much tv in the afternoons/evening.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Of course its means something different and i didn't even think of it meaning going out to party. But if you read most stay home and watch tv. There is nothing wrong with that i even do it but i'm older than a lot of people here and i'm disabled so its harder for me to get out. I was thinking here we are,go out and take an art course, take up bowling, eat out once a week, volunteer your (not you) expertise and teach it to another person or persons....Just have some fun before you get too old to enjoy life!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes, maybe it is a bit sad. I do have a social life, but none of my friends are into watching the same shows as me, so I love getting on Spoiler TV and read peoples comments about some of the shows that I love. I can´t do that with any of my friends.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I have a similar problem. Most of my friends have moved far and wide and my husband doesn't care for tv. He will watch a few with me, The Blacklist,GoT, Fringe, maybe a couple of others but he doesn't get into it the way we do here. He could take it or leave it and truth be told he rather leave it and listen to music. So yeah,i can't even do it with my husband.....

    ReplyDelete
  49. I also live in europe and often my days only start at 10/11, so actually I watch one or two shows in the morning like Arrow and The 100 on thursdays and then I go to work. I'm outdoors most of the time anyway so I'm glad in the evening I watch shows which my husband also likes to watch GoT. Don't watch shows on the weekends though (mostly). In winter when I'm more indoors I have to watch the Shows in the evening, cause if I start in the morning I tend to move my "chores" of the day....

    ReplyDelete
  50. I can relate, I have one very good friend who also watches some of the shows I do and lucky she is as passionate about it as I am, but she moved to another country now. My husband luckily also enjoys many shows but most of them are just for amusement. But none of my friends and family, can relate to my love for comics-adaptions. Never been a comic reader but I love to go on the net and find out more about the world building and I actually watch shows like Arrow with more attention trying to catch the easter eggs.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that...as long as people (meaning especially those who aren't disabled) don't lose touch with the real world out there because every free minute of their life is dedicated to watching TV.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Completly true. Although watching a show can be very distracting, giving my hobby actually space in my life hepled me balance my social life a little. I tuned down my social life a bit. I was not giving myself enough alone time, all the time meeting up with friends after meeting people all day etc. In German there is an expression "Freizeit-Streß" leisure-time-stress. But I it can very easily go the other way. Keeping the Balance is the hard part.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Is it just me or is this poll a little bit depressing?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I Am 15. No Job, Not Much Of A Social Life, And I Don't Really Get Much Sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lack of sleep and that leads to too many fails at life.... I dont go to partys and stuff but i hang out with my friends all the time so social life might be one? i dont know!... being really honest TV has been my hobby since i was a kid, my mom, my dd and my brother used to watch tv when i was little all the time so i became a fan of it... i really preffer watch a good tv show with my friends than going to a party :p

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've scaled down a lot, and I give shows less of a chance than I used to. If they just don't catch on with me, I have to let them go. I did that with Sleepy Hollow and probably will drop Falling Skies. Now there are only a handful of shows that I consider "appointment" TV, and I download them, even if I happen to be watching them live as well. I must watch The Walking Dead and Grimm, and I may watch Elementary. There are a couple of shows that I watch with my husband, such as Mad Men and Breaking Bad when it was on, and I've lined up The Last Ship as promising. My TV time is after dinner, dishes, and any other evening chores, and I watch before bed. If I'm still not sleepy after I've watched the shows I planned on, I will watch light shows such as what I find on Comedy Central, HGTV, or a cooking channel. If I happen to fall asleep, I just turn it off and go to bed. I'm not losing sleep over TV.

    ReplyDelete
  57. A little bit, but at the same time I think some of us that lack a social life in the real world, actually do a lot of socializing on the digital world! I consider a lot of you guys my friends, simply because I chat/discuss stuff with some of you almost every day! And honestly, even though when I was a kid, I watched a lot of tv/cartoons, I really didn't when I got in my late teens, but movies instead! It's really been the last 3-5 years that I find myself enthralled with TV! I think some of these shows that are on now though, are thought provoking, because again, I have some really great conversations with a lot people on this site and I think that could be a positive thing.

    ReplyDelete
  58. LOL! Best answer yet! :p

    ReplyDelete
  59. I keep up with the shows I really love by watching them live or on weekends. I record new shows I'm interested in but don't watch until they are picked up for a full season. The rest I watch in the summer when I'm off from work.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Same here, my husband will watch GoT, BB and Lost with me, but doesn´t really care for the rest of the shows I watch. Some of my friends watch reality tv, which I hate and my husband prefers documentries.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It is hard to keep the balance sometimes. Last year I was so eager to get up in the morning to watch GoT, that it was almost stressful. Now I only watch it when I get the time. It means that I sometimes don´t get to discus it on Spoiler Tv before 24 hours after it airs, but that´s just the way it is. There are more importend things in life.

    ReplyDelete
  62. maybe. I did grow up with the Cartoons (X-Men, Spiderman, Batman of the Future etc.) though. It's light entertainment, but I love it. We dropped SPN two seasons ago and never got into TWD and I actually prefere genre shows.

    ReplyDelete
  63. DVR and a lack of sleep. I also recently got a personal wifi hotspot. so, if it's one of my bubble gum shows I can watch the stream while I"m working.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is exactly me. I know a few people that also watch many tv shows, but either they watch other shows than I or we don't really talk about/dicuss the show. I have come across someone who watches a few shows that I also watch so sometimes we discuss certain episodes (or recently Under the Dome's stupidity) which is great.

    because of the amount =)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I watch about 16 shows. Three of them airs at a abnormal time (e.g summer or early january). Sometimes there was a week where most of them was on air and I had to watch the rest on Sunday afternoon. I watch shows where I can't wait for, immediately and some shows before going to sleep. Mostly it's Revenge during Monday dinner, Once Upon A Time in bed, Awkward during Wednesday dinner and so on.. Most of time it works fine.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Why thank you!! Your show posting pals love to be ignored. lololol

  69. Hahahaha, I'm not talking about you you fool. I'm talking about people IRL. LOL My actual friends that I see in person. LOL So dumb. Yeah i'm a meanie. I'm the devil. (Rubs hands together in evil manner) I've missed you too!!! So great to see you on. Hope your summer is Going well. Oh i will definitely have "quick Witt and sharp tongue" in the fall when everything starts up again. When it's called for. ; )

Glad to hear you will return when the Fall shows start up . Oh,, you forgot the 2 little stubs on top of your head.!! lmbo.
I knew you were not referring to me, but it was a little close to home.:)

If it were not for the spoilers on many of my shows,, and these terrific questionnaires,, I would be more behind then I already am. But I am slowly catching up. It is also difficult for me, b/c many of my friends do not watch the same shows as I, or don't have the time or interest. So I am on my own and winging it:)

    ReplyDelete
  71. I sure don't. That woman can be a freaking buzzkill half the time, and loves that delete button. (rolls eyes). And that's a real shame. You should really get into Arrow. it's amazing. If u decide to get into it. (u really should give it another go) i'm confused on how TVD and T.O. recording got in the way of Arrow. Since TVD is on Thursday. T.O: was on Tues. and Arrow airs Wednesday night. Explain?

BATB can kiss my ass. can't wait til that's canceled. which i believe it wil be when it returns with only 13 ep. (maybe 12) when it returns. And no i don't watch any of the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Lololol

Explanation (You would ask, while I smhs:),,,
When I signed up, for the Classes,, they were scheduled for Mon, Wed, Fri.,,I thought great,, I only need to record 1 show. Then the Mon & Fri. classes were changed to ,Tues. & Thurs after 2 weeks. So,, Tues, Wed, & Thursday, but if you remember I was always a day late to the party b/c of it.
The School nor the professors, care about what show is on the "Tube" or when. lololol

    ReplyDelete
  73. ohh ok i see now. And yeah i remember. hahah see i always schedule my classes AROUND my shows, so i'm always home on time to watch them. The latest class i believe i had was at 6 and we'd be out by 715, then i'd rush home. LOL and make it just in time like 5 or 10 min before 8 pm. lol

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well La-di-da for you. hahaha. I usually made Sherlock b/c it started at 9 for me on Monday's& I was out of class around 8:30, so yeah, dinner in front of the Tube.:)
Why don't you check in at home, it is still there,,, and floor everyone. lololol NO MODERATORS,, Kate still checks in,,,but only to say hi.:)

    ReplyDelete
  75. HahaHahaHaha Hahahahah.

And i would but iI'm not in VD mode right now. So this is my main site. (Has been for yrs along with our home site)..especially during the summer. You tell her hi for me. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  76. Do you study something related to movies/tvshows/theater? Because I don't know of anyone that watches more TV shows now :P except a friend who studies architecture, but it's because she watches as she does the mock-ups

    ReplyDelete
  77. Nope, I just really love shows (sci-fi/supernatural shows especially), get attached to characters, and have little social life.

    ReplyDelete
  78. No. I just love TV (love sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural) and have a hard time choosing what to watch as I easily get attached to characters.

It would be a sacrifice to my social life if I had one outside of classes, but I don't really.

I benefit also from only having to work in the summer, not while I have classes. My basic day is classes, chores, homework, and TV at night.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah for me it's lack of social life. That came first. My show numbers elevated at the exact time I moved away from my family.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yeah, I don't have many people I know where I live now, so there isn't much for me to do at night when I'm done taking classes and doing homework.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Have you checked Defiance?

    ReplyDelete
  82. I did a little. Couldn't get into it.

  83. I'm reading it all now on Arrow hon.. I'll get back to you.:)

  84. Dman is tolerable. This guy was a prick. I did control myself A LOT b/c not all "things" can be said on this site. Then he bored me, so w/e he said after i already told him he wasn't worth my time, i didn't read. so now he's just a loser wanting to get the last word with no one there. rolls eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  85. lololol,, Okay, you win!! Yeah Shannon!!:)
I don't know how many shows you watch,, but I follow my "Wonder Twin" around. He watches like a zillion shows that I never knew existed. lolololol It is a real eye opener & a Blast!!.:)
That is how I came to be here and saw your call sign.:)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Ohhh I see. So you're new here. Hmmm, that's interesting. Tbh, it's cool, but also really weird for me. Haha. I've always kept this site and our site separated. I just like it better that way. Not saying you're not welcome to my main site, ofc you are. I've been coming here for years, honestly, idr what show brought me here. I have a lot of shows, so I couldn't tell ya. ; )
