True Detective - Season 2 - Colin Farrell in talks for lead role

Colin Farrell could be the new star of HBO’s True Detective.

The actor (Fright Night, In Bruges) has been in talks for the role. We’ve been sitting on this news waiting for the deal to close, but since another outlet broke ranks and went rouge we’re joining the inevitable online chorus despite the situation still being uncertain. Keep in mind there is no deal at this time as sources say the actor has not accepted HBO’s current offer. But as of today, Farrell is definitely in the mix and considered the most likely lead name to join the acclaimed drama.

    I seem to either love or hate Colin in his movies, but he can be a great actor in the right project!

    You should watch In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths. If the material is right, Colin is a good fit. Besides, he will star together with two others.

    I wasn't a big fan of McConaughey but I was impressed by his performance. I'm indifferent about Farrell so I'm interested to see if he can deliver.

    I liked MM, especially his role in Contact, but I think his TD role was definitely one of his greatest performances. I'm looking forward to Interstellar too!


    Yep like you, I'm a bit indifferent to Farrell, grated I have not see all of his films. It could turn out to be brilliant!
