The Vampire Diaries - Season 6 - Emily C. Chang to Recur as 'Unexpected' Character

16 Jul 2014

The Vampire Diaries is adding a new character who may not be who she seems.

On the heels of Eureka star Colin Ferguson joining the sixth season, The CW drama will be introducing the recurring character of Ivy, described as sweet and sincere. Actress Emily C. Chang, whose credits include Days of Our Lives and Total Recall, has booked the role.

Not much is known about Ivy, only that she's "the quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side" — but knowing Vampire Diaries, the tide will turn sooner rather than later. She will first appear in the sixth-season premiere.

  2. It's probably just wish thinking on my part but I hope it's Lucy Bennett in another body. If they are planning on going back to their roots, this seems like a good time.

  3. Interesting! Looking forward to S6. They said Stephan will seek refuge in some unexpected ways so this girl could be it, maybe in a kinky way.

Hopefully they will be a bit more consistant with their storytelling this season.

Got a feeling they will start to set up an Alaric spin off so they can push it after season 7 of VD.

  4. Any chance in hell she's Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce in another body ?

  6. Stefan will seek comfort with enzo according to web reports.Julie said that she is planning alaric and enzo combined spin-off-so even if she said it lightly, who knows? Maybe it can happen!

  7. Who is Lucy Bennett? I can't remember her.

  8. I read somewhere that Nina Dobrev insisted that Katherine is dead. It's true that Nina said this partly to stress that she'll only be playing one character from now on, but when all of the cast and crew say that Katherine is gone for good, it's safe to assume that Katherine isn't coming back. Ivy could be someone in a different body, though. I sort of hope at least one character is something like that. Traveler mythology is just too juicy to let go of now that the writers have opened that can of worms. The problem will be explaining how it happened for the character without contradicting the fact that some things can't be done now that the Other Side is gone.

  10. I sort of think JP might have been serious when she mentioned the possibility of another spin-off that includes Alaric and Enzo.

  11. I think Enzo and Alaric are being 'groomed' to take over the Damon and Stefan spots on the show when they leave at the end od season six as is Caroline once Elena leaves.

  12. It's better to give it a seperate spin-off than continuing the show without nina, ian and paul IMO.I would totally watch that. But what yo're insinuating, the results can be dreadful even for an TVD addict like me!!

  13. No one knows for sure what will happen with Damon's character, but there will be no TVD without Elena at the very least because she's the main character. The EPs said that they're keeping Caroline on TVD to end any rumors of her crossing over onto TO. I don't know if they would make Caroline part of a different spin-off. If Elena becomes a major character in a spin-off, it won't happen until TVD ends. Julie Plec said that TVD will end when Elena's journey as it relates to her relationship with the Salvatore brothers is over, and the Salvatore brothers' relationship with each other ends. Anyone can make of that what they want, but JP said after the end of Season 5 that none of the characters are anywhere near where they'll be when the series reaches the ending that was planned years ago. I don't think Damon will be fully resurrected because too many people expect it to happen, but no one knows exactly what JP and KW planned for the series ending anyway. We know that someone was supposed to be a ghost, but JP has decided to change only that because it would be impossible to have a ghost when there is no Other Side. If Damon was supposed to be some specter that all of the characters would have somehow been able to see, then we might just see him in flashbacks throughout Season 6 and then in a different body later on, making it possible for Ian Somerhalder to leave the show without affecting the story. Let's admit it, any actor who is good-looking enough can bring in just as big a fan base.

  14. Don't know if I dig the upcoming Alaric & Enzo bromance or whatever. I would prefer if it would be Alaric solo. But let's see how it will work out in Season 6, maybe I get into it.

  15. Stefan and Enzo? Really? Ripper again! Hopefully not! I think another spin off is quite possible with they still clinging to The VD legacy.

  16. No ripper storyline, they would cope with damon's loss in a non-ripper way according to web reports.

  17. When I think of someone being a known character in a different body, it makes me wonder if the characters will discover sometime in Season 6 that because Damon was holding onto the Anchor when the Other Side went down, the force of it knocked Damon's spirit into someone else's body, and he's been wandering off on his own for a while because he's been trying to deal with what happened. If that happened to Damon, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to Bonnie too. This way the EPs get to keep their promise about no more resurrections while still holding onto one or two characters that they intend to have around until the end of the series. It would technically be more a freaky occurrence than a resurrection. Since the current actors playing these characters are under contract, I can see them appearing in flashbacks whenever an episode calls for one.

  18. "too predictable... ...more creative couldn't have been done to show Stefan dealing with his grief."

"Predictable" does not equal "boring". A show that does unexpected things while remaining faithful to the story that it's already told is far more interesting than a show which constantly pulls the rug out from under itself. That's why prequels are interesting.
