Supernatural
Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) on The CW

The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester Brothers continues with the tenth season of “Supernatural” on The CW.

Twenty-eight years ago, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Subsequently, their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) raised them to be soldiers. He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America…and he taught them how to kill it.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent the last nine years battling the things that go bump in the night. Over the years, with the help of the fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins), and the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), the Winchesters have straddled the line between good and evil.

Last season, power struggles in Heaven and Hell would push the boys beyond their limits. Crowley was pitted against the Knight of Hell, Abaddon (Alaina Huffman), in a civil war for the throne of Hell, while the recently fallen angels formed battling factions, with the boys and Castiel caught in the crossfire of both conflicts. Meanwhile, the egomaniacal former scribe of God, Metatron [Curtis Armstrong], vied to replace the Almighty in the hearts and minds of angels and humans alike. However, absolute power corrupted the scribe, and the brothers were forced to confront the would-be deity, a conflict ending with the death of Dean Winchester. In the shocking final moments of the season, he would be resurrected by the power of the First Blade, opening his eyes to reveal he has been transformed into a demon! Season 10 begins with Sam’s frantic search for his missing brother, who is gone without a trace. The road to recovering the wayward Dean takes Sam down dark paths, with consequences that will shake the boys to their core. Meanwhile, Castiel has to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Metatrons campaign. With his grace failing and rogue angels still on the loose, Cass will face the ticking clock of his own mortality as all-new threats emerge to once again push all of our heroes to their limits.

SUPERNATURAL is produced by Wonderland Sound and Vision in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Jeremy Carver (“Being Human”), Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Phil Sgriccia and Adam Glass. Eric Kripke created the series and serves as executive consultant, along with McG, on Season 10. July

  3. Sam is looking for Dean, why couldn't that have happened in season 8???? I am looking forward to Demon Dean.

  4. Wait, twenty-eight years ago? What the hell is your timeline again, SPN? LOL, it's so confusing.

    But God I can't wait.

  5. It doesn't make much sense to me to be honest. He didn't look for Dean when Dean and Cas vanished whilst they were alive, but he's looking for Dean while he vanished while being Dead. Right. Of course. But I'm really looking forward to Demon Dean as well!

  6. While I am looking forward to the Deamon (see what I did there?) arc and hope they don't fuck it up like the potential that was The Men of Letters, I honestly hope they announce it as the final season. The retrospective they are airing may signal it, didn't Smallville air something similar before S10 started?

But that's all IMO, of course!

  7. It's crazy to wish the summer away (I live in Canada) but I CANNOT WAIT till Supernatural starts up again in October. This definitely is not the final season and very few want it to be.

  8. I'm just catching up with season 9 even though I know how it ends and I find myself falling for this show again. There are so many amazing episodes in every season. Of course, there are a few episodes here and there that are just okay, but the vast majority is just so good. I can't wait for the next season and the next and the next...
I know it's delusional to believe the show will never end, and we're obviously a lot closer to the end than to the beginning, but I will miss it terribly when it's over.

  9. There is just one answer: TPTB screwed up!
Now, desperate attempt of some fans trying to rationalize and/or even defend Sam's non-action in S8 is just so sad!

BTW what's up with 28 years ago losing their mom and fighting the last 9 years?! So Sam was 19 when Dean went after him?! Or maybe there was a time loop?! lol

    Anyway, can't wait ;)

  10. When Cas and Dean disappeared Sam believed they were both dead and hopefully in heaven. Now Dean's body, which Sam knew was there has gotten up and walked away. Very different circumstances. Now, I looked into Catholicism for a while and surprisingly, when a person goes to Purgatory it is because they are DEAD. Even in the context of the show Purgatory a place for dead monsters. The only way I ever heard about getting people out of Purgatory was praying for their souls and lighting candles.

I think what they meant by 28 years ago is when they were young children. It all started when their mother died when they were barely 10. So its basically right now flashing back to all how their life changed when their mother died by the yellow eye demon

  12. Sam didn't know they went to Purgatory. They just disappeared and he assumed they were dead. Didn't know why/where.

  13. Exactly. Sam thought Dean was dead and tried unsuccessfully to move on. We don't know what if any inquiries Sam might have made before accepting that Dean was dead since the time period was never shown and Sam never directly addressed that point. Crowley suggested that Sam always tries to make a deal when Dean dies, so there may by something there. But either way,it's time for the fandom to try to move on too. Moving on after the death of a family member isn't something that needs to be rationalized or apologized for.

  14. The whole idea that a body could be alive in a different plane - Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory - is a little absurd when you think about it, considering a body has needs like food, oxygen, etc, and the only thing there are souls. So for all intents and purposes, Dean was dead, just like Sam was dead when he fell into Lucifer's cage. Neither storyline has any more logic than the reapers-are-angels canon rewrite.

  15. The most important factor between the two situations is that Dean's body was in Dean's room before he vanished. Sam would of course search for Dean when that is even more weird than Dean and Cas disappearing after destroying Dick Roman. Sam knew nothing about Dean and Cas going to Purgatory, but his body obviously didn't vanish from his bed to Purgatory, Hell or even Heaven. Also, one could easily look at this in the mindset of Jeremy Carver who's righting a wrong. Perhaps he realized he even made a mistake before(even though it makes sense to me).

  16. Yep. To Sam, monsters with souls are sent to Purgatory. It wouldn't add up to Sam that the master Leviathan would be sent to Purgatory because it didn't have a soul. Obviously that was an "in case of emergency" plan to send the Leviathan back to Purgatory, but I don't blame the writing for not making Sam realize where Dean and Cas really were.

  17. Maybe the show is starting to try to hide their age. ;)

  18. The retrospective is probably because Supernatural is one of the CW's highest rated shows and they want to get an extra episode out for ratings. Certainly this could be the last year for the show, but if that was a for certain I would have expected them to announce it when they renewed "The final season of Supernatural! How will it end?" and be hyping it for all it's worth. The did that for GG and Nikita for goodness sakes. Unless the ratings suddenly tank (unlikely, but not impossible) the CW will want to keep Supernatural as long as they can. Well the W part does because Warner Brothers is making good money off of Supernatural on Netflix and syndication. The network as a whole does because it is always one of their top three shows and some weeks passes TVD and makes it to number one.

  19. their mom died in 1983 when sam was 6 months old and dean 4 years old. and while we are starting season 10, two seasons started after a year hiatus each, so it really should be in the year 2016 when season 10 starts. so adding that all up - their mom died 33 years ago. really poor math and understanding of the series, cw people!

Looking for someone is even trickier if they vanish into thin air, leaving no trace and no way of even beginning to look for them imo.

  21. not so! season 5 starts with a year having past (with sam having been in and out of lucifer's cage and hunting with samuel for a year before dean finds out he's alive) and season 8 starts with a year having past with dean being in purgatory.and sam being with amelia, so that puts us in 2016 already.

  22. Technically it should be... but Kripke et all decided to use "soap opera time" in season 6 for what ever reason.

Case in point, "Slumber Party" shows the date of the episode to be June 4, 2014.

  23. huh. well that's just messed up. and pretty pointless to say "a year later" each time. and just incredibly annoying. and even if that were the case, mary still died in 1983 so it would be 31 years later and not 28 years later.

  24. Could just be a typo. It is just a press release, not an episode of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just Carver rewriting canon again ... move along ... nothing to see here ...

  26. The Purgatory storyline was absurd, period.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jim Michael's has been quoted in numerous places recently saying "there's been zero talk of S10 being the last season". Not that it can't happen but I've also read chatter about MC being signed through S11.

    ReplyDelete
  28. no way 28 and 31 are typos. someone just got sloppy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree. Good, dynamic 'Dean' storyline but still absurd . As has been pointed out on multiple occasions, Dean should not have been "alive" in Purgatory. As we saw in the S8 opener, "Benny" was a "Monster Soul" in Purgatory - the constraints of filming made it appear that he had a 'body'.

When 'Dean' came out of Purgatory carrying "Monster Soul" Benny in his arm, he had to pour Benny's soul onto his bones to resurrect him. Similarly in Taxi Driver, Sam rescued 'soul Bobby' from Hell and in Purgatory/Earth performed likely the same sequence of rituals as Dean had used on Benny to 'carry' 'soul Bobby' to 'Earth (Maine)' to release Bobby's soul to Heaven.

  30. Typo/sloppy same dif.

  31. uh, no. i'm an editor by trade. definitely not the same diff. typo is a slip of the key. sloppy with info is just lazy.
