Thanks to Richard for the heads up.

First she got a new nemesis, and then a new rival. Now, Elementary's Joan Watson is getting a lover!

Smash alum Raza Jaffrey has landed a guest-starring role on the CBS drama as the new boyfriend of Joan Watson (Lucy Liu), TVGuide.com has learned.

When Elementary returns, it's been nearly a year since Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) left for London and his new job at MI6. Suffice it to say, Joan is not too pleased with her former partner. Naturally, her new boyfriend Andrew is, in some respects, the anti-Sherlock, an oasis of normalcy in a life still rife with strangeness and drama.

  1. Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting this bit of news. The time gap between the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3, and a new love interest for Joan. Season 3 sounds exciting (and full of drama).

  2. Good stuff - I trust Elementary's writers more than I trust most others so I'm happy with the time jump. I'm wondering what will draw Watson and Holmes back together

  3. I am ALL for Raza Jaffrey. He's a good actor, especially in Spooks. I hope they don't make him a baddie or something.

  4. Sweet! Loved him in MI-5!
