Glee - Season 6 - Rumored plot details

What I heard is that Rachel will return to McKinley to put the Glee club back together. In effect, she’d be the new Mr. Schue.

An idea that’s also being considered is to have the Rachel-led New Directions go head to head once again with their old nemesis, Vocal Adrenaline. Only this time, Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) would be at the helm, with Blaine (Darren Criss)–or maybe another ND alum–working as his assistant.

I hear that out of the newbies, only Alex Newell, has been asked to return, for a few episodes. He plays the transgender character, Unique.

10-12 episodes sounds about right for the final season. Ryan mentioned 24 episodes previously, but I doubted it was going to last (especially as a mid-season show). I wonder what Fox had to do to get him to agree to that? I'm kind of expecting the trade off to be a made-for-TV movie with a Klaine wedding or something. (Boy wouldn't Community fans be angry at that, if Glee managed to get #sixseasonsandamovie)

Also it sounds like they're retooling the originally planned ending. Rather then have Finn take over the Glee Club, Rachel will do it.

I don't like the idea of them having a whole new competition ending with Will v Rachel though. What...are they gonna introduce 12 new kids, try and make us care for them only to end it permanently a few episodes later?

  2. I don't get it. Jake and Marley didn't even get proper closer. It's weird. They just wrote out the new characters without giving them ANY closer.

  3. You mean Glee dropped a plot point and/or ignored any actual character progression or closure? Well I for one, am shocked.

Most of the Ohio cast have moved onto other projects. The only one confirmed to return (Alex) isn't tied to anything.

Blake and Melissa are working on their kickstarter movie 'Billy Boy' which I believe starts filming next month.
Jacob is still doing some work (press work mainly) on his upcoming film 'White Bird in a Blizzard'.
Becca was cast in a new ABC Family show 'Mystery Girls' which should start filming soon (if it hasn't already).

  5. The bigger question is why is there even going to be a 6th season? glee doesn't deserve to get closure for anything of the characters considering with how TERRIBLE the writers have treated them all in the past 2+ seasons. cancel glee and move on. plus only a fraction of the viewers from S5 would come back to watch S6 so it's not like canceling glee will disappoint a lot of people cause ratings from S5 were 45% less compared to S4.

  6. What proper closure do they need? They dated for a few months and broke up, end of story. Plus it was boring anyway.

  7. Seems fair, but there has to be a time jump right? cause if we are not going to see the Glee Club from season 5 then why go back there?

  8. So what I'm hearing is Glee is desperately rehashing plot points.

  9. This is a terrible idea! Ugh! I was really STRETCHING for hope that they'd go out with a bang for their last season. Idk wtf this is, but THIS was definitely not in my mind for how things would go. And really?? They want to bring Unique back?? I find him the most annoying one! Great already i feel they're screwing up and the season hasn't even started. smmfh!

  10. I have mixed feelings. While I feel that McKinley and the glee club is/was a vital part of the show, I did not care much for any character introduced in season 3 and forward, except for Sugar and Kitty. I like the old characters better, but I've never really cared for their storylines after they graduated. I don't have high hopes for season 6, but I'll still watch out of old habit. If I've watched a show for many years I always continue until it's finished/cancelled. I mean, I continued to watch How I Met Your Mother until the end even though I thought it was only good for about 3-4 seasons, lol.

  11. Why are they insisting on keeping the show at high school? It's just getting ridiculous at this point.

  12. The final season should be about the production of Rachel's TV pilot to
begin with, which does not get picked up. After further troubles for other characters occur, the old Glee club members attend a McKinley reunion where they see how the new Glee club members have been negatively affected by the loss of New Directions. They convince Will to be the head of production for one last performance in an attempt to secure funding for the return of New Directions. TV execs attend this performance and have reconsidered their decision about Rachel's
TV pilot - they want to turn it into a movie that also includes some other McKinley students.
Cut to a few months later where the Glee club hosts an early screening
of the movie, and the fate of the characters' relationships are
    revealed.
